True story: I was maybe 4 or 5. The family went to the lake so the grownups could fish and barbecue. My mother was over protective of her kids and didn't want us no where near the water. I wanted to be like my dad and catch some fish but was told I was too young. Long story short I stole some fishing line and a hook and sneaked off and hid behind this huge tree, broke a branch off the size of a actual pole,tied the hook and line, turned over a rock and got some worms and started catching tiny bluegill, the kind my dad would use for bait. Everyone started calling my name especially my mother frantically. I didn't say a word because I wanted to keep catching fish(bait) lol. Once I came around the bend and my dad saw what I had done he put a pole in my hand and I never put it down over 40 years ago. Fishing is the most serene, stress blocker piece of mind I know. My grandparents neighbor had a small pond way back by the woods on the other side of a corn field. Weren't no bigger than a high school pool but had huge bluegill and bass. I had it to myself for years. After a while I took hooks off my jitterbug and just got off on em attacking it. Later I stopped fishing it and just tossed em frogs, bugs and snakes . Best times of my life
I had an experience walking through the prairie and woods in Oklahoma to a pond way back in the woods. On the way out I became the star attraction of a large pack of 26 coyotes. I walked briskly back wondering how many brush Wolves it would take to take me down and leave no trace. I'm pretty sure 26 was enough. I have never gone to the woods since them unarmed. Usually with several lethal weapons.
When I was a kid we went to a ranch that had lots of ponds never fished. We caught so many bass, many lunkers. What a great memory, thanks for bringing it back.
Went to one like that once, was in an inflatable ,,, caught a very large bass but it jumped out of the water and looked me right in the eye. Scared me. Lol. Lost him. I dropped the rod letting the line go slack. Gone. But that was ok.
@@jeremylesso857 I got nothing against cheap poles bc I use them, but the expensive poles definitely do make a difference especially line too. It makes it so much easier to catch a bigger fish
@@B-Vulpone I fish for bluegill and crappie so it doesn't matter u can catch them with a piece of line and a hook if u know where and when to fish!!! I got some good poles but I didn't buy them at full price found them at deals!! For what I fish for it doesn't matter!!! And I got a 40$ saltwater pole
Pond fishing always takes me back to those early memories and feelings of excitement and wonder when I was a kid! Wonder what lives in that scary old pond? My mind would reel. Heh heh. That started my fascination with fishing and my never ending search for, ah The Big One! We just know it's hiding somewhere in some old forgotten backwater. Keep plugging away brother and thanks for sharing!
When my husband was in the Army, we were living in Mineral Wells, TX. There were several stock ponds around the post. We would mostly fish in the one off of Stagefield 1. I don't recall how we found the smaller one. He may have seen it from the air. He had a map that showed the roads on the post and they even had included all of the stock ponds that were on the post reservation, so we tried one of the nearest to us. We got to fishing and suddenly, I was hooked to a fish. It turned out to be a huge bluegill. We couldn't believe the size of it. It was almost 2 1/2 lbs. We caught four of them and brought them home to give to the post veterinarian and his family. They lived in the same duplex as we did. His eyes bugged out when he saw the fish. We went back to that pond with some friends of my husband and caught more big ones with them, but only a couple were even near the size of the first ones we caught the first visit. We had so much fun fishing around the area.
Man, sure bring back memories. My brother and I did the same thing about 50 years ago or so. We found an old pond with trees and brush grown up all the way around it except for one little opening. We had a cage of crickets and I had a new Popeil's pocket fisherman. I remember it like it was yesterday and we wore the bluegill out!! Bigguns too. We still talk about that from time to time. Such good, clean fun. Such a rare commodity these days. Kids, it's still out there. All you have to do is put the phones down, get off the couch and get it!!!
Thankfully a few of us remember Bruce, a buddy checked local maps and discovered a unknown stream fed small lake that had a healthy stock of rudd a 3 mile cycle away. First to catch a dozen on boiled pearl barley on small size 16 hooks was the winner. It was partially hidden behind a hospital. Best of all it gave me a awareness and interest into nature to this day.......sadly with encroaching development, the hospital sold a lot of the land including [drained] lake in the 1980's
@@bonnieboy190 I know where you're coming from on that. I went back to that same pond about 5 years ago and it had filled in so much that all was left was a big mud puddle. I have taken my son to some of the places I hunted and fished as a kid. Sure was nice to be able to do that.
You'd be surprised. Yes, there are a lot of kids that don't want to do anything but be on the phone but thanks to these TH-cam channels a lot of young men are getting into it. All my kids have poles and love to fish. My 14 y/o watches all of the cool fishing videos with the fancy rods, bass boats and jigs. I don't like the way they fish and I have to tell my son to keep distance from me when we're fishing cause he's just tossing out and reeling in like lightning. But hey, we're out there. A lot of boys and girls are. There is hope.
This reminds me of a time when I was fishing a very small stream that fed off of a nearby lake; I was fishing for trout. I came upon a hole about 3 feet in diameter and about 2.5 feet deep with a nice trickle of water going into it; I said, "Nah" and continued on. Something told me to stop and fish it, so I did. I put a fresh meal worm on the hook and dropped it in. About 10 seconds later, I got an unbelievable tug on the line; I pulled up a nice brown trout. YUP! Fish those spots that you never imagined. :)
Excellent, I remember digging my own bait, the sheer joy of catching something,cleaning and cooking. I still have my old fire starter, etc. A lot of fun,
@@eli_m6556 I understand that but that doesn't give you the right to trespass, fish and take from someone's pond without permission. The correct thing to do is do your research find out who owns it and ask for permission that will go a long way instead of getting caught trespassing. Say one of them got hurt or drowned they could go back on the landowner. How is that fair to the landowner when you were trespassing in the first place.

I fish a small pond like this near my house every few days. Usually pull in 20-30 crappie in a few hours. It’s a barbless hook/catch and release pond in a park, so I don’t get to cook them, but it’s still a lot of fun.
Same fishing I grew up doing, hidden away small ponds, creeks and ditches, if there was small water somewhere with fish in it we knew where it was. Thanks, brought back a lot of great memories.

Hi guys from the UK ,how lovely to see you both fishing together,you're a lucky man! as my wife won't go with me as she's scared of all the insects. the little fish look similar to the Perch in the UK but ours are quite light in colour ,and also very tasty. Similar fish are called perch in some regions here in the USA, also generally "sunfish" but we also have several actual perch species, that are more elongated in shape and generally larger.
This takes me back about 53yrs. The spot was called Lost lake,literally a puddle,covered about 3sq.acres and 4ft Max depth. Could catch slabs like those,nice cats, and a bass now and then.lake is dried up and gone about 35yrs now but was sure fun growing up fishing there. I miss those days so bad.thanks for trip down memory lane. Keep it up folks.
For bluegill like that to be in there without being stunted, it must have had everything it needed and the exact amount of each species at the right age. Cool find
These were my favorite kind of fishing experiences growing up. You find some pond or creek and just catch blue all day. My family would take us camping all the time at this particular campground that had a pond and a stream running off of it and we’d buy a block of Velvetta cheese at the little store and catch blue gills all day long.
In 1977 we bought 5 acres near dover Tennessee... We found an old abandoned pond that had to have a path cut with a chainsaw to get to it... my family would quietly fish in the evenings after my dad got home from work... The monster fish we were able to catch & eat was such a score... Im 52 on the Great lakes & I prefer that little pond over these inland seas... Great vid!

Remember me and my brother following an old creek bed up between two steep cliffs. We were climbing over huge boulders and came upon this deep hole that still had water in it. It was on about 10 x 20 feet but we each pulled 2-5 lb bass out of that little hole. Plus numerous 1 lb perch. All using the crawdads found around that hole.
There's a pond that's about an acre behind the condo complex where my daughter lives. She caught a 6lb bass one day and sent me the pic while I was at work. Lots of bluegill, catfish, and bass. This small pond never disappoints!!
Hard to catch, or they’re eating anything you throw at them. It’s a crap shoot for sure. Sometimes you find that little pond and they’ll be stacked up and hammering every and any lure as soon as it hits the water. And that’s hardly an exaggeration.
About 30 years or so ago a friend of mine worked at a water treatment plant and they have a handful or so of private lakes that hadn't been fished since early 1900's So him and I took his jon boat out to one of the lakes one morning and started fishing.... talk about HUGE bass!! It wasn't spawning season either. He caught a 14 pounder from that same lake a while later when it was spawning season. We catch and release, but he got that 14 pounder stuffed and mounted hehe. I was working in Inverness with my uncle around that same time removing railroad track from a limestone mine because they had to stop mining.... they hit a spring and it filled half the pit with water, but it was soooo clear you could see the fish clearly. We took his mini camper and stayed the week there instead of driving back and forth daily to Tampa. So we would take our bath in the water and the brim would come nibble the bubbles off our hairy legs lol they weren't at all scared of us! And they were quite large as well. Frying pan sized, I was amazed. There was bass in there too that you could see were easily 10 pounds and more. Anyways, I enjoyed watching you two fish that small pond... and at least you caught enough that she doesn't have to share what she caught with you so you don't go hungry! lol j/k take care!!
Remember my uncle caught about a 6 lb. bass from a farm pond, and after putting it on our stringer of about 10 bluegills, the stringer slipped out of his hand and the bass swam off with the stringer of fish in tow. Still makes me smile, even after 50 years.
I was fishing with my best friend 30 years ago in a decent sized farm pond we had access to. We had about 20 giant bluegill on a stringer in a small boat. While putting another one on I dropped the stringer. I'll never forget the sight of the end of that stringer spiraling out of sight or the truck ride home after jumping in to try to save it. Thank you for making me remember that.
If you ever get a chance travel to ridgeville South Carolina on Pierce road there is a camping/wedding fishing venue that you will simply love!! They have over 12 ponds on the property with prime fishing!! It's all catch and release $25 day pass for two people. A trip you will never forget!!

@@davidgraham7325 I do too, LOL! I have however improved my tackle just a little! I have no problem spending $200 an a reel whatsoever, fishing is and always has been just too darn important to me! I still have my original bait caster reel that was gifted to me when I turned five, 1960, all metal, you had to put an ounce on just to get it to cast! Ahh, the good ol' days! I even have a couple of steel poles and a reel from 1914, I didn't buy that one new LOL!
We caretake a property near our farm that has a spring fed pond. It's full of fish, and no one has fished it in the past 11 years. Needless to say, we have been pulling HOGS out of there this year! Throwing them back of course, but killing it!
Reminds me of fishing way back when a school friend of mine and myself and a few other buddies went fishing on his uncles farm in three ponds that were used way back when for cattle and we caught the hugest crappies you could imagine - like 18-22 inchers it was remarkable! The ponds were never fished and gave us all memories forever

Boy does this bring back great memories of growing up in the mountains of NJ. We had a pond that was once used for a water source for a family owned greenhouse. We kids , keep this a secret.. I miss those days... Sadly..the owner sold the land and the builder filled it in for a housing project. That was a very sad day . Thanks for sharing.....
Love the anticipation of what you’re going to get. We have a lake we fish. Often “just” after bluegill but a couple of days ago a 20 inch walleye took y garden worm. Fun times just being out in nature. Great video
Looks like you caught the makings of an excellent fish dinner! Best tasting fish I ever ate was some nice chunky bluegills and sunfish caught in a farm pond. I just love finding 'back forty' ponds that hold bass and sunfish doesn't take much to catch you a basket full of fish..some worms for bait and you're good to go. Want to try some real fun? Try flyfishing with a light fly rig say number two line and some small poppers.
My father in law and I are farm pond junkies- ones that are overgrown like this are our favorites. We both use 7' ultra light/light action rods with 4lb line. We seldom use bobbers- opting to chuck 1" berkley gulp Alive! minnows on a small ice jig or 1/64oz jighead- cast it out, let it sink, then slowly jig/swim it back. If you need to use a bobber, use a tiny pear shaped bobber for crappies that have rattles in them (Bass Pro Shops has them), and toss out, let it set for up to a minute (to let the gills swarm in), then do a slow pause retrieve. Usually they 'll hit it after the second pause/retrieve- crappies and bass go nuts for this. We've even landed some monster channel cats out of ponds using this same setup. If you are up against a thick band of weeds, do the same thing......only we keep cane poles or 11" crappie rods in the truck. We also keep 3' micro light rods handy if we have to climb out onto a fallen tree or fish a hole in the brush to get at fish- good times, we lose track of time quickly when fishing a pond........don't even get me started on ice fishing these little gems, lol.
I know where a pond is that used to be stocked in the Francis Marion Nat'l Forest. You literally have to hike in the woods alongside where the road used to be. The road grew over with really thick brush. Monster bluegill, giant bass several billion mosquitoes and some nice redbugs! Oh, forgot to mention, ticks.
Brought back great memories of East Texas ponds and my childhood. You know what color the bluegill are going to be, whether lighter or darker, just by looking at the pond. The open pasture ponds, windswept with few trees always have lighter complexion bluegills. Ponds like this one with lots of dark water and vegetation will have the darker bluegills. Same with bass and crappie. Lots of great memories on each but I prefer the secluded, darker ponds like this one.
Get rid of as much of the hardware as possible. Use 1or2 bb weights about 3 inches above hook (or none at all) and a pencil bobber. Bream basically hook themselves.
You should clean up some access points around your pond getting rid of some of the bushes but not all, because the bugs that fall in from the bushes feed the fish.🧡🧡
I grew up in Ky and my dad found a old pond were he taught us to fish as kids, We used crickets and killed the bluegill and bream. Nice video and thanks for sharing.

Just found your channel and after watching I subbed it.This is what I call pond fishing.Love fishing for bream(good eating) with a spincast reel.I prefer old reels from the '60's and 70's from Johnson, zebco and few other brands.Also,fishing in creeks can be fun too.Brings back memories many moons ago when my father took us fishing at one of the local farm ponds in the area.Gotta start back doing that with my wife.Thank ya'll for posting and I will keep watching.
This is pure Heaven to me! 😍nothing better 💓💓💓Old timey cane poles can catch those big ‘ole blue gills, too! There is a lake over in Louisiana, named Lake Concordia. Here in April and May, you can catch Bream until your arm is tired. We used to catch about 100 per day! We would stay in these old concrete block cabins on the bank of the lake…. They had the necessary facilities, and we couldn’t have been any happier! After about 3 or 4 days, we were fairly sunburned and tired and we headed home. These are some of my most beautiful memories……the man I enjoyed all this with, now probably entertains the Good Lord with his “ big fish “ tales! But those precious times spent on that lake, will never be forgotten. 🥰🥰🥰 Thanks for sharing this little “ forgotten pond” with us! It made my day.😍
This does take me back as well. Two things, almost dead flies collected from inside garrage windows or shed windows works great. Often I’d walk to the bottom of our mountain with no bait and forage. For example, may flies with #22-24 hook is killer for 12” native brookies. One per hole and keep moving. They get spooked.
Oh, if you go to get this hole again, try just hook and worm. No weight no corks. I've seen going from 2-3 finger bream using the typical set up to good handsome bream and plenty of them. I.learned like others this setup, but later learned to use a fine tip very fine tip jig pole, light line, hook and bait. Falls naturally. Check out TTI Blakemore for truturn hooks, where they'll catch the upper lip every time which is nice when unhooking. I never used circle hooks for bream yet, but why when try turns will do it.
I fished a place in Cincinnati like that and the chiggers ate me alive but fishing was so good that a bass came within inches of the shore and almost pulled in are pole that was just laid down that we weren't using.
This is perfect. A happy couple enjoying each other’s company, stress free fishing, in a private world of their own. I’m envious.

Pocket fisherman I had 1 and caught a clam when I was 7.a dam clam.lol never forget that or the pocket fisherman.

The correct thing to do is do your research find out who owns it and ask for permission that will go a long way instead of getting caught trespassing. Say one of them got hurt or drowned they could go back on the landowner. How is that fair to the landowner when you were trespassing in the first place.

I fish a small pond like this near my house every few days. Usually pull in 20-30 crappie in a few hours. It’s a barbless hook/catch and release pond in a park, so I don’t get to cook them, but it’s still a lot of fun.

Similar fish are called perch in some regions here in the USA, also generally "sunfish" but we also have several actual perch species, that are more elongated in shape and generally larger.
This takes me back about 53yrs. The spot was called Lost lake,literally a puddle,covered about 3sq.acres and 4ft Max depth. Could catch slabs like those,nice cats, and a bass now and then.lake is dried up and gone about 35yrs now but was sure fun growing up fishing there. I miss those days so bad.thanks for trip down memory lane. Keep it up folks.

These were my favorite kind of fishing experiences growing up. You find some pond or creek and just catch blue all day. My family would take us camping all the time at this particular campground that had a pond and a stream running off of it and we’d buy a block of Velvetta cheese at the little store and catch blue gills all day long.

In 1977 we bought 5 acres near dover Tennessee... We found an old abandoned pond that had to have a path cut with a chainsaw to get to it... my family would quietly fish in the evenings after my dad got home from work... The monster fish we were able to catch & eat was such a score... Im 52 on the Great lakes & I prefer that little pond over these inland seas... Great vid!

Remember me and my brother following an old creek bed up between two steep cliffs. We were climbing over huge boulders and came upon this deep hole that still had water in it. It was on about 10 x 20 feet but we each pulled 2-5 lb bass out of that little hole. Plus numerous 1 lb perch. All using the crawdads found around that hole.

There's a pond that's about an acre behind the condo complex where my daughter lives. She caught a 6lb bass one day and sent me the pic while I was at work. Lots of bluegill, catfish, and bass. This small pond never disappoints!!

Those old forgotten ponds have huge fish that can be hard to catch. Awesome video!
Hard to catch, or they’re eating anything you throw at them. It’s a crap shoot for sure. Sometimes you find that little pond and they’ll be stacked up and hammering every and any lure as soon as it hits the water. And that’s hardly an exaggeration.
About 30 years or so ago a friend of mine worked at a water treatment plant and they have a handful or so of private lakes that hadn't been fished since early 1900's
So him and I took his jon boat out to one of the lakes one morning and started fishing.... talk about HUGE bass!! It wasn't spawning season either. He caught a 14 pounder from that same lake a while later when it was spawning season. We catch and release, but he got that 14 pounder stuffed and mounted hehe. I was working in Inverness with my uncle around that same time removing railroad track from a limestone mine because they had to stop mining.... they hit a spring and it filled half the pit with water, but it was soooo clear you could see the fish clearly. We took his mini camper and stayed the week there instead of driving back and forth daily to Tampa. So we would take our bath in the water and the brim would come nibble the bubbles off our hairy legs lol they weren't at all scared of us! And they were quite large as well. Frying pan sized, I was amazed. There was bass in there too that you could see were easily 10 pounds and more. Anyways, I enjoyed watching you two fish that small pond... and at least you caught enough that she doesn't have to share what she caught with you so you don't go hungry! lol j/k take care!!

Remember my uncle caught about a 6 lb. bass from a farm pond, and after putting it on our stringer of about 10 bluegills, the stringer slipped out of his hand and the bass swam off with the stringer of fish in tow. Still makes me smile, even after 50 years.
That happened to my uncle once in a small creek with catfish. Three days later he caught the bottom fish with the stringer still tied in his lip.
I was fishing with my best friend 30 years ago in a decent sized farm pond we had access to. We had about 20 giant bluegill on a stringer in a small boat. While putting another one on I dropped the stringer. I'll never forget the sight of the end of that stringer spiraling out of sight or the truck ride home after jumping in to try to save it. Thank you for making me remember that.

try a very small piece of uncooked bacon fat. You will catch fish after fish and not have to rebait your hook. the bacon fat stays on the hook.
Did that about 50 years ago. Should try it again.

If you ever get a chance travel to ridgeville South Carolina on Pierce road there is a camping/wedding fishing venue that you will simply love!! They have over 12 ponds on the property with prime fishing!! It's all catch and release $25 day pass for two people. A trip you will never forget!!

I still have my original bait caster reel that was gifted to me when I turned five, 1960, all metal, you had to put an ounce on just to get it to cast! Ahh, the good ol' days! I even have a couple of steel poles and a reel from 1914, I didn't buy that one new LOL!
We caretake a property near our farm that has a spring fed pond. It's full of fish, and no one has fished it in the past 11 years. Needless to say, we have been pulling HOGS out of there this year! Throwing them back of course, but killing it!
Reminds me of fishing way back when a school friend of mine and myself and a few other buddies went fishing on his uncles farm in three ponds that were used way back when for cattle and we caught the hugest crappies you could imagine - like 18-22 inchers it was remarkable! The ponds were never fished and gave us all memories forever

Looks like you caught the makings of an excellent fish dinner! Best tasting fish I ever ate was some nice chunky bluegills and sunfish caught in a farm pond. I just love finding 'back forty' ponds that hold bass and sunfish doesn't take much to catch you a basket full of fish..some worms for bait and you're good to go. Want to try some real fun? Try flyfishing with a light fly rig say number two line and some small poppers.
My father in law and I are farm pond junkies- ones that are overgrown like this are our favorites. We both use 7' ultra light/light action rods with 4lb line. We seldom use bobbers- opting to chuck 1" berkley gulp Alive! minnows on a small ice jig or 1/64oz jighead- cast it out, let it sink, then slowly jig/swim it back. If you need to use a bobber, use a tiny pear shaped bobber for crappies that have rattles in them (Bass Pro Shops has them), and toss out, let it set for up to a minute (to let the gills swarm in), then do a slow pause retrieve. Usually they 'll hit it after the second pause/retrieve- crappies and bass go nuts for this. We've even landed some monster channel cats out of ponds using this same setup. If you are up against a thick band of weeds, do the same thing......only we keep cane poles or 11" crappie rods in the truck. We also keep 3' micro light rods handy if we have to climb out onto a fallen tree or fish a hole in the brush to get at fish- good times, we lose track of time quickly when fishing a pond........don't even get me started on ice fishing these little gems, lol.

Where at Exactly?
I know where a pond is that used to be stocked in the Francis Marion Nat'l Forest. You literally have to hike in the woods alongside where the road used to be. The road grew over with really thick brush. Monster bluegill, giant bass several billion mosquitoes and some nice redbugs! Oh, forgot to mention, ticks.

Brought back great memories of East Texas ponds and my childhood. You know what color the bluegill are going to be, whether lighter or darker, just by looking at the pond. The open pasture ponds, windswept with few trees always have lighter complexion bluegills. Ponds like this one with lots of dark water and vegetation will have the darker bluegills. Same with bass and crappie. Lots of great memories on each but I prefer the secluded, darker ponds like this one.

Get rid of as much of the hardware as possible. Use 1or2 bb weights about 3 inches above hook (or none at all) and a pencil bobber.
Bream basically hook themselves.
You should clean up some access points around your pond getting rid of some of the bushes but not all, because the bugs that fall in from the bushes feed the fish.🧡🧡
I grew up in Ky and my dad found a old pond were he taught us to fish as kids, We used crickets and killed the bluegill and bream. Nice video and thanks for sharing.

Just found your channel and after watching I subbed it.This is what I call pond fishing.Love fishing for bream(good eating) with a spincast reel.I prefer old reels from the '60's and 70's from Johnson, zebco and few other brands.Also,fishing in creeks can be fun too.Brings back memories many moons ago when my father took us fishing at one of the local farm ponds in the area.Gotta start back doing that with my wife.Thank ya'll for posting and I will keep watching.

This is pure Heaven to me! 😍nothing better 💓💓💓Old timey cane poles can catch those big ‘ole blue gills, too! There is a lake over in Louisiana, named Lake Concordia. Here in April and May, you can catch Bream until your arm is tired. We used to catch about 100 per day! We would stay in these old concrete block cabins on the bank of the lake…. They had the necessary facilities, and we couldn’t have been any happier! After about 3 or 4 days, we were fairly sunburned and tired and we headed home. These are some of my most beautiful memories……the man I enjoyed all this with, now probably entertains the Good Lord with his “ big fish “ tales! But those precious times spent on that lake, will never be forgotten. 🥰🥰🥰

This does take me back as well. Two things, almost dead flies collected from inside garrage windows or shed windows works great. Often I’d walk to the bottom of our mountain with no bait and forage. For example, may flies with #22-24 hook is killer for 12” native brookies. One per hole and keep moving. They get spooked.
You gotta go deeper for the big ones, it's colder where they like to be.
I found a forgotten pond once. Caught sunfish as fast as I could bait the hook. Large hand size. Fun times till I had to clean them all.

from the moment you got there, It looked like a honey hole! ohhhhh man! I love it!
Oh, if you go to get this hole again, try just hook and worm. No weight no corks. I've seen going from 2-3 finger bream using the typical set up to good handsome bream and plenty of them. I.learned like others this setup, but later learned to use a fine tip very fine tip jig pole, light line, hook and bait. Falls naturally.
Check out TTI Blakemore for truturn hooks, where they'll catch the upper lip every time which is nice when unhooking. I never used circle hooks for bream yet, but why when try turns will do it.
I fished a place in Cincinnati like that and the chiggers ate me alive but fishing was so good that a bass came within inches of the shore and almost pulled in are pole that was just laid down that we weren't using.
