That's a 3 litre v6 essex engine, not a v8. They have unique sound and can produce alot of power if you throw money at them. Very reliable engines too.

That's a 3l Essex engine, not a V8.
To my knowledge, this is a 3.0 6 banger ....138 ps....thats why, it does not have torque for spinning tyres . or a 2.8 injection 160 ps . Think they stuck a v8 in them, in South Africa
Yes, the Capri Perana V8. Had a 302 Windsor V8. Borg Warner 4 speed and a rear axle from Australia. Ford only made 500 and it was the only production V8 Capri to exist. I owned no:366 for a few years.
@@SeanGavin-rf5vd I wanted one of those...kept getting outbid at auctions.Amazing car,much like the 2 door Firenza with a 5.0L,which I also hankered after.58 now and only managed to get a 73 Ford Fairlane and a 65 Studebaker Daytona in my lifetime.Both gone now though.
@@spandel100 I recently started looking around for a Capri. Even if it was just a shell and do some sort of restomod but in South Africa they have become scarce. 15 years ago one could still find them if you looked. Now there is just nothing.
@@SeanGavin-rf5vd There is an old lady in Pinetown with a standard Firenza.A friend,of mine,who wanted to restomod it,approached her and asked if she would sell.She wouldn't even consider.I very rarely ever see any of these class of cars anymore.All I really have left of this era is a pile of Hot Rod magazines.Very sad.
you have no idea how a 3.0 v6 can smoke tyres. during the seventies I used to spin it to a standstill and made the tyres squeel in 2nd gear.(I'm from S.A.)
