Ford Capri powered by a Coyote V8- Is this the worlds fastest Capri?

- Rumoured to be the best of the car builds from TV's Goblin Works.
They took a super clean 1987 Ford Capri 2.8i Special and installed a massive Coyote V8 engine from a Ford Mustang.
With over 400 bhp and a top speed of 170mph, this Capri slowed down enough for us to make a short sales promo video at the back end of 2020.
Now SOLD, terrorising the streets of Dublin, will it ever pound the pavements of Britain again?
Looks beautiful - except for the front, which would look better as standard.
I actually like the front . Very stylistic
Stimmt !
Yeah, looks home made, which it is. Standard front was classic.
Agree, looks terrible, love the original plus bumpers,
To each it's own you like it i love it do you pimp
My dream car! My dad passed away in 2001 at just 48 years old. He only had Capri, think he had 3-4 in his time. A few 2.8i in black with gold pepperpot wheels :) & a 3.0L in white. I would love to own one in my lifetime. Looks amazing and brought back so many good memories so thank you.
Just , YES.
No matter how you custom a car some people pick faults. It's their mission, they have never done anything except switch on their PC.
I am in 100% with this ! 100% to the builders !
It doesn't need to be the fastest, or the best ever, it's just the product or a team, and its pretty fantastic from my POV, just a Capri fan that has seen many.
Good man!!
Don't lie in the title than I guess
@@kylestephenson3004 - what’s the lie buddy?
@@browntruckracing plenty of ford capris have been built for speed... goblinworks capri was built for look at me type people.
4x4 capri would gap this
@@browntruckracing Silly comment ,not the worlds fastest capri by a long stretch .
The fastest capri was the famous cosworth powered one with 550 bhp link below .

I remember this car being built on Goblin Works Garage, what a beast! :)

Like wise , I’ve seen it in the flesh in Harwich Essex a few years ago
He doesn’t seem to want to talk about that!🤔
by far the best looking capri i have ever seen. nice job mate.
I say this baby sits well up there with today's Camaros, Mustang's and Hellcats. I think that this car would be appreciated in the US, as well as the UK.

Yes. It was designed by an American after all.
I think it's an old clunker dressed up with some ridiculously oversized wheels with insufficient clearance for bumpy UK roads and a glossy black paint job. Not really a fan of the cigarette burned dashboard panels either. But to each their own.
The capri was a bag of shit when it was first revealed.. I’ve tried everything with them… v8’s 4 and 5 link rear ends, even shortened one by 300mm and ran mk1 Mexico gear. Still drove like crap…

Possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen

Schöner Ford Cabri V 8 der hat doch mal Gesicht 💯👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻Gruss vom Harley Rider aus Buxtehude-Germany
Not sure about grill , but tis lovely
Simply the best custom build Capri I’ve ever seen. In my view, a homage to the '77 Bandit Trans Am. Superb.
Well you're a idiot
Awesome job building that car. Looks like a fun ride.
That, is one, "dead balls" sexy Capri build !!!
Probably the best looking car Ford have ever made, I don’t know why they stopped making sports cars like this it’s not like they had much competition in this price range.
I am from Oakland California, I converted 1 of 2, 1976-1977 Capri's to 5.0 Mustang engines. Upgraded to the a the Mustang 5 spd Manual. I still believe I was the 1srt one to do it in the Oakland California area. I still have the 76'. The upgraded 77 was sold. Wish I still had it.
Fantastic- so nice that you still have the 76!

In Oakland California the Capris were there Own Group. Yes they had Muscle Cars, Mini Trucks, Sport Bikes and others but We are a very Special Group. That 3.0 Stick with the wind back roof. You have to be 1 of It Us to understand. Tune it right, Hit that 2nd gear and hear those wheels skirt.
Doesn’t matter if it’s the fastest. It’s by far the best looking capri I’ve ever seen.
I always loved these cars v6 powered couldve bought 5 500 a piece glad u put a real motor in it
Thats a very smart looking Capri, the bodywork is immaculate. Love the flairs, not so sure about the 'lake pipes' and think it could look even better without them.
But overall a fantastic beast - thanks for the video

Those 2.8's were beasts on their own, never mind the Coyote swap, had a 72/77 Ghia and an 80 inline 6, now own a 2017 5.0. All are fun af.
I had a 3.1 Cologne back in the day, a real one. Wish I had it now. This thing is stunning.
What a beautiful car ( sorry except for the grill 😳 ) I love the side pipes this is a proper monster of a Capri love it nice job bro 👏👏👍
Gotta agree the front is really meh... at best, otherwise it's a stunner. Then I saw the upholstery..... what were they thinking?!?!?!?
Maybe if it was blacked out? Yeah, meh.
@@bob_frazier it would be sweet to see the grill over the headlights lift up like the old 70's fords headlight covers either use the vacuum operated mechanisms or the electronic ones off a Miata and make it able to wink ;)
I thought I had an issue with ground clearance with the big bore exhaust I had on my 2.8 Capri, but those side pipes and speed bumps....OUCH! Lovely Capri though.👍❤
The Ford Capri with the 6 cylinder was a hell of a car back in the day and it handled better than anything on the road you could rip that thing around hairpin turns and it would never slide out of control.
The Ford RS 2000 handling was far superior to Capri in every way. You weren't going fast enough.
@FazermanD when the tires start to come up off the ground and you're still not sliding that's fast enough
Ive always loved the old Capris. I was a fire marshal on the Lombard Rally back in the 70's and remember seeing this INCREDIBLE 3.1 RS rally Capris go by! This is a beauty I had many Rover V8's back in the day and came to love that engine. I put one in a Morris Minor but this build takes the biscuit! NICE ONE
The best UK Ford ever.
I wonder if this is still out there 'terrorising the streets of Dublin' ?
A unique and stand out Capri, would be hard to miss it. And will need very deep pockets for insurance I'm guessing.
I bought a MkI V6 3000GXL in 1984 for £240, and paid more for insurance! Now, they fetch £20k+ 👍🇬🇧💯✔😎
What an investment!
@browntruckracing Ha ha. Yes. No one knew better back then. Capris and Mk1 and 2 Escorts galore went for scrap. I had a wrecked Mk2 van towed away, another one scrapped, worth nowt in the lare 80's. Same with Cortinas and Granadas. 100's of them were bangered right through to the late mid 90's. The prices now are amazing. 👍🇬🇧💯😉
Awesome- not about speed but presence and sound❤
The power to weight ratio of having a V8 in a Capri is absolutely all about speed
I like the front. I like how the headlights under the grill.
Omgg it's ABSOLUTELY 💯 TOTALLY GORGEOUS....WELL DONE PERFECTION 👌 🎉❤
Stunning, looks like the Capri made by Goblin works on TV.
Yes it is the Goblin car, this film was to help sell the car at auction in 2021. I believe it ends up in Ireland

This is a 10! Love it! Love the rims! I always loved that style wheel, they put it on a bunch of cars in the 80s-early 90s!
Perfect.

That is simply gorgeous, I actually really like the front.
It’s beautiful, way back I had a 71 capri that I put a wicked 327 sbc and Muncie 4 speed in, but it wasn’t gorgeous like this,it had a full scca gt3 suspension and nd cage, it’s was stupid fun
Every Darren and Wayne in Essex drooling over this...
That's one sick looking Capri 👌
Looks absolutely beautiful I have always had a thing for the Capri
This is a nice looking for CAPRI nice V8 budget was an automatic 😅😅😅😅
This is a manual - a tremec I believe
That noise is epic
Isn’t it just!
The front grill has an old school Charger Vibe to it.
Nice job 👍🏼
It’s very nice, but it’s definitely not the worlds fastest Capri😂
Do you know of one faster ?
I know a faster one in Germany. With a supercharged v8 and around 800 horses
@@johnny5805 Fast enough? 😄 th-cam.com/video/UwcvDJe5_-w/w-d-xo.html
@@johnny5805 There are many faster. Just check out all tbe capris at Santa Pod doing sub 7 second passes, all road legal cars too. British engineering 👍🏻
But can you actually call it a capri when it's got an engine in it that doesn't even belong in it
That car looks clean without bumpers, the Capri was a half attempt at making a muscle car for Europe, well now we have one, great conversation.
It divides opinion for sure but is arguably a well sorted cat with massive potential
I used to own a MK1 Capri Perana V8. The only production V8 Capri to exist. Use a 320 Windsor with a 450cfm Holley, 4 speed Borg Warner gearbox and the rear axle was from Australia especially made for the Perana. Only 500 were made as they were made for homologation purposes.
@@SeanGavin-rf5vd Damn they actually made a v8? Never knew that, I know the 2.8 v6 I thought that was the biggest engine. Then the Tickford was a turbo charge version.
What series did they race in to make it a homologation
I agree with you that changing the front end back to stock but fitting LED headlights would be more classy but looks and sounds like a great Capri
Form one builder to another , this is a very very good effort . Love it 😊
Anything to not look like the rest of them. Great looks. U did fine job. I don't see any looking like this. A+
A very nice and decent customisation 👍👍👍
This machine looks awesome, I love it. If I was to pick out a negative it would have to be the location because that car is 100% just needs to on blackpool prom 😅
As a non american I had never seen or heard about capri but when I saw the all new electric capri , this looks 1000x times better than that.
this capri is modified externally, they do not look like this. i prefer the oem look by far. OEM with the coyote engine would be nice
Ford should put this car on the production line.
My dream car, except for the grill. I didn't think that a Coyote would fit between the turrets, they are massive compared to the pushrod motors. Always thought about building a 351 Cleveland Capri, my pal has a Cortina with a 302 in it.
Looks amazing , and them wheels just finish it off perfect 👍😍
I think so too!
Nice 👌🏻. Like the body work especially at the back and front end
It's something different to the bog standard capri in my days when you use to see them a lot running around in my time frame of life 😮😊
They went well with the standard V6
Wish I had the talent and skills to build something this special
Beautiful Capri. I would love to there’s two little things I would change. The side exhaust and the grill. I would have it painted black. But that’s just my thoughts. Loverly build though.
Cool car, grill and wheels aren’t my thing, but does look really sharp and unique. Great job, sounds amazing and sure crazy fast. Bet it’s a blast to drive, love to take it out on some curvy countryside roads in the hills or mountains.
Stunning Capri.Watched the show when they built that. But my only hate,is the side pipes.
Absolutely wonderful (in every way)!!
Fabulous looker and fabulous sound.
What more could anyone ask, what an amazing transformation from the standard Capri to this! Love this and thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure!
Beautiful...Would love me some of that!
Just stumbled across this 2025 and now this is what a capri supposed to be not that horror show that they released a month ago
With you on that brother.
Twin Ferari tail lights would suit the style better than those factory slabs???
Basil Green Motorsports built a Capri Perana back in the day in South Africa. They had some decent get up and go under the bonnet.
Amazing motor, im a stick in the mud and prefer the factory look to these capris but my oh my what a tune she sings.... great work fella 👏
Band of brothers plate 👊🏽awesome car
Nearly 400 comments - and no one is talking about the Cologne RS3100 Capris - Engine: Ford GAA Cosworth V6 / 3412 cc / 208.1 cu in

Top Speed: 280 kmh / 174 mph
0-100 kph: 4,2s
0-200 kph: 13,1s
and a pedigree to die for ......
Had a friend with a Capri powered by a 427 side oiler. He set the class record at the Fremont drag strip back in the day. So I respectfully have to disagree with fastest. Over 180 mph was a thing in his car.
But that is one fine, fine looking Capri!
I to say this looks great I don't go in for body kits or any like that but this is a beast like the big wheels
He did my baby right!!! Thank you!!!
A pleasure!
I once was walking down a street in Bournemouth ,71,2 . There was a special coach with ramps into the back. They were loading on a ford Capri . Question ❓ did they have a four wheel drive capri . because I'm sure it left a black mark on all fours when he set off.??? Always wondered about that one.All the best 72 years old.😊.
Jesus, that's definitely the right engine for this car
Absolute perfection! ❤️
Beautiful piece of work.👍
That's pretty. Had no idea there was another nice Ford aside from the Mustang and GT40 :D
My 3.4l Bi-Turbo has had in 1990 about 476HP and a Topspeed of 200mph. Sadly i had to sell it in 1992. 🤪🤪 I've bought as a wreck and transferred the good parts to my Capri, takes nearly 3/4 year to do this. But it was worth it. 😎😎🥰🥰
When you have been to work nice to have what you like petrol power car 😅😢🎉
The sound is captivating.
this is next level.👏👏👏
i’d rather have this in my drive than Any new sports car. Looks incredible. thanks you bro 🇬🇧🫡
We didn't have this in the states. It looks Italian maybe Japanese. I'm getting Datsun/Alfa Romeo vibes. Sweet af minus the right hand drive. 😢
You did have Capris but maybe not this era/version 🤷♂️
Anyway that Coyote motor came fro you lovely Yanks so tgankyou!
You had the name originally, but Ford Europe built this. Early V4, straight 4cyl and V6 only. 👍🇬🇧💯✔😎
@@browntruckracing we had an embarrassing Mercury Capri. A two seater, Miata reject.
Remember the 4x4 Cossie one built years ago B654WOO still prefer that one but this is a close second
This is how it should if rolled of the production line many yrs ago .I wasnt sure about grill but looks better than the original lights . Maybe you should give it a face lift with brand new lighting system . Car looks epic from everyside . should do this with the mark 1 capri .. 👍🙂
Capri lover here (have a 2.8i being restored as I type)....Honestly, I am not sure about the side pipes and gold wheels. Love the interior and the paint job though.
Yeah sidepipes never were a good idea - don’t suit the capri either
Thats one hell of a Capri ...Beast of a car

Looks amazing, however, I do miss the headlights at the front, otherwise it looks beautiful (Mustang V8 - 2015 owner)
Ww put a rover v8 in mk1 Capri in the early 80s it was great fun until we going down the local "test" road speed of the clock and the bonnet shot up and smashed the windscreen, the fun stopped 😂

Piece of work, mate, raarr!
Very nice car. Grill and side pipes not my thing but to each their own
Normally I’d agree with you about the pipes (lake pipes) but this Capri is baddass enough to pull the look off IMO.
Awesome Car had lots of these when I was young
absolutly perfect!!!! this is how ya do it , I love the mods as well, makes it look like a real hotrod rather than a yawn fest restomod of dull as dishwater restoration. TOP JOB!!!!!

I'd have flared the arches slightly less, but other wise i've never ever seen a nicer one...
