  • This loud, high viz 4.6 Rover V8 powered mk1 Capri is now finished and ready to return to the customer. All the tapping noises are gone, it's a pleasure to drive now that the fuelling has been corrected with an Edelbrock 500 carburettor and ignition given a boost with the RPi upgrade kit and to top it off all the right V8 noises are coming from the back end thanks to a custom built stainless steel exhaust.

    In South Africa they build a homologation special edition Capri called the Capri Perana, which was fitted with a Ford Mustang V8 engine. Those were monster cars.

    These cars are part of British history, top cars during the 70s, 80s and 90s, anyone that brings them bk to life is a Legend! Up most respect from me part of my childhood one of the best British Fords ever! These cars were popular with the tuners and were drifting on British streets back in the 70s well before your Japanese turbos in the 90s!

    That's awesome. I had a mk1 3000e with a rover v8 back in the 90's. Auto power services did a kit of mounts headers, and bellhousing. Jet black paint, fibresports duck tail bootlid and deep dish wolfies on mine. Sadly two owners after me it got crashed and broken up so I won't see that again. My lockdown project has been a 347 stroker small block ford powered zodiac. Keep safe and keep making v8 noise.

      Did you have any fitment issues to get that in there? I imagine the distributor getting in the way

    • @LordFlashheart.11
      @LordFlashheart.11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DavidValdezBigWaveDave No not at all. The fitment is really nice. I used a mallory distributor and not a HEI as the HEI are big things! You can get smaller ones now. I always preferred the look of the chevy V8 with the distributor at the rear as, to me, it looks neater. Personal preference though. All V8s are awesome! The Capri's engine bay is so vast it can take a big block. The only tight area is the steering joint so I used shorty hotrod headers. It makes 393 bhp and 457lbft at the wheels so I was happy.

    Love these clips guyz & what you do. I'm picking up an old school Mazda 626 with a dizzy 3.9L Rover (4.6L rods/4bolt mains/3.5L heads, 3.9 timing cover, Edelbrock intake, heads decked and 10.5 comp flat top pistons with a lumpy hydrocam) soon. 5 speed Supra box & welded diff. I'll be doing a TH-cam of it soon after. I enjoyed & appreciated reading up on the engine specs of the Rovers on your Website Info. I'm guessing this beast will be putting out around the 250+hp mark but haven't gone over build sheet as yet. I'm in Covid lockdown here down under in Victoria Australia. Keep up the great work :)

      @@RPIEngineering thanks, no I have a 1974 3.5 auto in Lunar grey, the 4.6 sounds like a sensible upgrade though, I also have a ticking on my standard engine, I’ve just had new hydraulic tappers, new cast iron rockers, my ticking was when higher revs and engine warm, but since the new tappers it’s quieter than it sometimes was but it’s now constant ticking, apparently they need to gradually fill with oil and it will quieten. I wouldn’t mind a chat with someone about it at some point and about upgrading. Tom.

      Best to give us a call to discuss all involved. There is lots to consider when converting a vehicle to run a different engine than it was designed for however if you watch this video it will give you some idea of costings although this is relative to Land Rovers where there are lots more known quantities.
