Loving this series. 1:24 with your wisteria remember the rule “2 in 2, 7 in 7”. Cut back to two buds in February, seven buds in July. Wrong pruning will DEFINITELY adversely affect flowering.

@lindarasmussen1686 Very much depends on the type of rose (shrub, climber, rambler etc). I only have shrub roses and you shouldn’t cut them back too early in spring (when you could still have hard frosts) nor too late (when the sap is rising). Cut back as hard as you want but just above an outward facing bud.

    I’ll give Ash some questions:
    1. Are you still in banking
    2. Did you always want to be in banking
    3. What are your favourite things about each other
    4. (One for chad) what are your thoughts on AI home design apps? Any recommendations?
    5. How old is your dog, did you do puppy phase? (Our dachshund loves hearing Ash’s voice fyi 😂)
    Great videos/content also

      1. Tell us about your journey getting into interior design and the like. You have such a natural flair.
      2. How did you get so good at flower arranging?
      3. Skincare routine please!

I’ve researched my family history over the last 10 years and only did an Ancestry DNA test 2 years ago. Having so much of my own data before the test, I was astonished it was so accurate. Trace your ancestors, it’s amazing what can be discovered. I’m from a nothing family but have found links to pivotal events and even family links to a couple of famous people in recent history.

I hope that when you sell the house the new owners will appreciate the developing wisteria and continue to tend to it as it is a true asset to any outdoor space. There are tons of places on the internet with advice on wisteria but try to see what Monte Don, the British horticulturist has to say about it, he really knows his greens!

12:29 Me again. Sorry 😂. I agree with you about champagne and it’s wasted on me. English sparkling wines can be lovely and because of global warming southern England is becoming a better environment to grow wine grapes in than northern France apparently. I think the chalky Kent soil helps.

Chad, if you're interested in the history of the terraced houses search for 40 minutes documentary called "two sides of a street" - Hammersmith in 1989 on how the houses were used back in the day and how they became gentrified by the professional classes. It's a great documentary.

Terroir is literally the soil/climatic environment which gives wine its distinctive qualities. Kent I wager has quite chalky soil which would make it perfect for drier wines.

    • @GlasshouseandGarden

@ The BBC even reported from Norway (!!!) on vineyards there! Their reporter said they were ok. The Beeb also did a documentary from France about climate change and its impact on the wine industry there- it’s becoming so much warmer and drier in certain regions that they’re replanting their vineyards with grape varieties from Spain & Portugal. Mad world.

I have loved vlogmas , although I’m moving to Islington soon I currently live in Surrey and I’m blessed with a lovely wisteria. They take years before they really bloom well but a good tip is to fertilise the soil well in the spring with potash or blood fish and bone.

    @kgordonshepherd2344 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Really enjoy watching you boys and seeing your beautiful home. I understand that wisteria needs to be at least 7 years old to bloom; it's also important not to over fertilize with nitrogen (although if you're using seaweed solution, that won't be a problem) and to give enough phosphorus (NPK = nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium); pruning should be done in mid-winter and two months after flowering in the summer. Good luck! It could be that your wisteria will only bloom after you've moved!

I did my DNA with Ancestry 18 months ago or so. I've done a lot of family history so I knew certain things. My original results mainly English from both sides but showed Celtic links from my Father's, for instance 2% Irish. I knew about the Irish connection as I have a Great Great Grandmother who was born in Ireland. My Dad also had Scottish and Welsh too. My mother's side showed some from Scandinavia (who knew?? not me )
Recently though Ancestry have sent an update to my results ( you may have had an update too but you wouldn't know unless you've been on the website. This update has now binned the Irish connection and apparently I've got some DNA from Germanic area!!!
I'm not sure how it all works but Ancestry say as they get more and more people doing their DNA then they can be more accurate and your results change.
I need to do a bit more research on it all really. I do find it all fascinating however. Let us know if you have had updated results, I'd be interested. Go on your account ,you'll still be able to access your account even if you don't have a current subscription. I use the app.

I have done the Ancestry DNA and I have also put together an extensive family tree over several years and many hours of research. It's an amazing mental exercise and not at all easy. I did manage to make some amazing discoveries, including why my grandmother's last name was changed - just by noticing a visitor on a census record. You do need some historical and geographical knowledge too. The number of people who lost young children is pretty upsetting to see and it was interesting to watch how family fortunes were so easily lost over a couple of generations. A word of warning though a) it's addictive and b) it's very easy to go barking up the wrong tree!

Clan MacNaughton here. My understanding is that there are actually more descendants of Scots currently in the US than there are Scots living in Scotland. An ancestry test connected my branch of the family to another branch that had emigrated to the States at a different time than my grandfather. One of those relatives is an amateur genealogist, and he has researched the family line back to Scotland and Derry. I live in a c.1882 row house and researched the folks that lived here over the years. It was pretty easy to research, as there is a lot of data at the library in my community.

Another great video! You have such great style Ash with colour and renovation skills. Are you planning in the future to start an interior design business in london to help other people do their houses? Many thanks 🙏

I can't afford champagne. Luckily there are some excellent crémants around - especially from the Loire. Try a Vouvray. Crémant de Limoux is also delicious. There are even plenty of excellent mousseux: they used to be looked down upon as a poor person's champagne, but they are dry, lower % of alcohol, and lovely with food.

@@elizzy8754 will take a look. Thanks for the recommendation. I used to buy lovely cremant from a French farm shop near lyme regis. I also found a nice bottle in Aldi and lidl. Have a lovely Christmas! Hic!

@@annmcevoy5686Actually, prosecco is very good these days, especially if you can find "Bio" prosecco, usually without added sulphites.

Yes, I did my DNA with Ancestry and then uploaded the data to MyHeritage for free. Ancestry was definitely more accurate. I am half English, half Italian and the results were basically 50/50. 46% south west and south east Italy, 44% England & northwest Europe , tiny bits of French, Spanish, German and Denmark. My maternal English side originate from Kent, so that’s the small Danish addition.
MyHeritage gave me North & West European 37.5%, Iberian 36.1%, Greek & South Italian 23.6%, and a random 2% West Asian.
I actual found 3 half siblings by uploading my DNA to MyHeritage, my mum conceived me in Canada, she returned to England and my Italian father didn’t know about me. He had emigrated to Canada from Italy in the late 1950s, as had my mum from England, Wimbledon in fact.

There are health conditions that make a dog drink excessive water: diabetes, cushings disease, diabetes insipidus are three I know about. One of my dogs had cushings. She was drinking a lot of water and urinating on the floor which was totally out of character for her. Sure have been enjoying your videos.

The MacGregor’s were related to the McAlpines the ancient Royal lines I’m from this clan too. I’m in the process of doing ancestry too. How long does it take to get the results back? I hope Chad has learned now that The Cutty Sark is a Scottish clipper ship. 😉Built on the River Leven in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1869 for the Jock Willis Shipping Line, she was one of the last tea clippers to be built and one of the fastest, at the end of a long period of design development for this type of vessel, which ended as steamships took over their routes. She was named after the short shirt of the fictional witch in Robert Burns' poem Tam o' Shanter, first published in 1791.

Also Ash, even if your mum‘s family has Welsh names, it still makes sense for you to be more of Italian descent as most people in Wales have Roman ancestors. My DNA test came back (I have a Welsh mum and a Glaswegian father) as Irish Norwegian and Spanish decent 😂

12:29 Me again. Sorry 😂. I agree with you about champagne and it’s wasted on me. English sparkling wines can be lovely and because of global warming southern England is becoming a better environment to grow wine grapes in than northern France apparently. I think the chalky Kent soil helps.

Loved this video guys, it felt like a catch up, with a nice glass of wine…you really do bounce off each other, very entertaining.
A quick mention, watched another vlog similar to yours, the guy replaced the stringy part of a bauble with thin blue velvet ribbon. Oh my goodness it made a huge difference. You might have already done this, if not give it a go👌 Take care both of you x
