Did you guys grow up in London? Agree it’s a touchy subject and the nice thing about London is that there’s so much diversity and everyone is after something different. I’ve lived NW and SW and to be honest my experience of South West is has areas that are just as affluent as any section of London. Your rough around the edges argument can be applied to all areas of London - for example Dalston whilst up and coming I would describe as very rough around the edges. I never felt safe there and lived there for a year with a boyfriend. I grew up in Kilburn which is now quite affluent but was quite ropey back in the day. I live in Tooting now which again is “rough around the edges” but generally I feel pretty safe here compared to some other places I’ve lived. Also don’t agree that SW/SE doesn’t have desirable areas. Have you been between the commons / Wandsworth Common / Herne Hill / East Dulwich / Dulwich / Fulham / Barnes? They may be quite quiet/dull but are lovely areas. Easily on a par price wise with some of the affluent areas of North / West London (Hampstead, Islington, St John’s Wood.)

Love the vlogs Ash and sometimes Chad , how many of us have now bought Pooky lights, Tartan Ribbon etc keep doing what you do!! I also love how cross people get in the comments we are watching a lifestyle vlog that is somewhat aspirational of course your chopping board will not be from Tesco and wherever we all live in the uk we will all have an opinion of other areas of the town or city we live in! Thanks boys for sharing so much of yourselves.

Amazing winter travel = New Zealand!! I have a friend who moved to Sicily and it looks interesting. I have been to Milan, Venice and the italian lakes. Venice is outstanding and unlike anywhere else and getting around by boat so much fun. I don't want to go everywhere - I am lucky to have travelled and happy with where I live and coastal area in the Summer. Contentment is amazing.

I agree, you may have people subscribed to your channel that live in that “shithole” 😢 I subscribed for home decor, renovation, gardening…etc. so I hope to see some of that in 2025.

I'm not easily offended and Chad giving his views on different areas of London certainly hasn't offended me. I would say that I did find Chad was a little too blunt and opinionated with his views regarding London postcodes though. People live in less desirable areas for many different reasons.

I prefer the gold color. It’s so much like the color of my kitchen that I painted last year ( Sherwin Williams) It totally transformed it and gave it such warmth I wondered why I waited so long. I would paint the whole wall if you can

I like that there is no one there. Design Centre is interesting and I visited it in the Spring and more lively then and all designers have a week of open days. £24 a plate is crazy unless there is a sale - sure H&M Home would do similar?

Come visit the western cape of South Africa. Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Prince Albert Hermanus. Experience delicious cuisine and awesome wines, gins, craft beers. People are amazing, art is phenomenal

Why don’t you consider a side return extension to maximise your kitchen space? Your spending thousands on titivating a small impractical space and would be better off doing a complete side return extension with roof windows/ glass.

Hate to break it to these boys and everyone taking issue with the South London commentary .. all of London is a dump. A decent high street with some free trade coffee shops and boutiques isn’t much compensation for the council estates that are adjacent to it.

This was such an interesting video/Q&A. I appreciate your honesty and integrity regarding your job as a content creator; I’m interested in the process, but more as I find the whole content creator aspect very interesting and not as a way to make a living - I’m retired and grew up and worked in a traditional era, so this is a whole new world for me and I find it fascinating. I also think that a lot of people think, “I can quit my job and do that;” but the reality is that to make it in the content creation business, you have to be interesting/have the right personality and have something that people want to click on and watch. I think this is why Ash does so well, he’s such an interesting person, he has a great sense of artistic style and a great personality.

Have you ever been to Malta? Malta is an island near Sicily. Malta has alot of history and Queen Elizabeth 2 and Prince Philip once lived here.

I think there will be always some nice areas in every direction of London. People may think South East is the least desirable but again there is blackheath. Another good indicator will be if there is an ivy cafe on the high street 😂

Chad would have been better off buying some wine in Paris rather than a baguette that will go soggy within about six hours - I know this because I live in France. The macaron I can agree with (not macaroon that is something quite different). Perhaps it is the wine talking but I would can the snobbishness, it really isn't a good look and spoils what is usually a lovely visual treat.

As Chad put it, London is about Post Card wars. I have heard this for years about London. I was reading through some of the comments, and it’s quite apparent that the war is still happening. Brits literally like to argue about what’s “posh” and what’s not. Seems like London is a place to avoid living for Brits. Going to live there is to immediately join the war. If I was to move to London, I know which area aid best for me because of location and I will literally not jump into conversations about where I live or why. I just want to be a person with an address that is mine. And never marry, because clearly the divorce will be very messy.

Stoke Newton is lovely! Stylish & well proportioned terraced houses. Tree lined streets. Solid (and attractive looking) commercial areas. You guys should totally do some house hunting content there!

Really enjoy the vlogs. Personally speaking, I never run down any area because someone lives there, and to someone ,it’s home. Sadly, not everyone can live in the more picturesque areas. I do agree that London has a weird obsession order for postcodes ( usually from non Londoners! )

Ash I know it seems like a lot of work, but it would be so magnificent if you made a substack or newsletter of recommendations of spots you and your partner go to. Just blurbs about restaurants you loved, a small review, a few photos. It would be excellent!!! I highly recommend and would love to read.

Ah lads, stick with East. (I’m an expert on the London property scene, being an old woman who has lived in Ireland all her life 🤣). I just happen to have loved London since I was a child. I’m not such a fan of West or South West London, but I think Chad’s a bit too harsh when it comes to South, if as it seems, Greenwich is South. Anyway I love your videos - you’re lovely and entertaining people - and hope to be watching you for years to come. Just not in Fulham. 😂

I love a conservatory, it's a way to have a green space year round that you can enjoy (if you're willing to pay for the heating to keep the plants alive when the temps drop too much). But I understand the desire for a bigger garden.

i think that every zone of london has run down areas. I would never live in ilford or east ham which are in east london or in central croydon south london. Clapham and battersea are really trendy in the gay community and elephant and castle it seems the next. Several parts of south london are really in right now , but yeah is not well connected

I went to Sicily last summer and we stayed in the far south and thought we would be able to see the whole island in a week, but it was bigger than we expected 🫣. So we ended up doing two one night stays near Taormina and ortigia to break up the driving and we never went to the north like Palermo. So maybe something to consider if you want to do everything on the north and south of the island😊.

Tulum, Mexico is great. Island House in Key West, FL (gay, clothing optional). Key West is an interesting place--snorkel in the Dry Tortugas on a reef. Oh, and it's 90 miles from Cuba--the southernmost point in the U.S.

The tone of some of the dialogue recently has been rather condescending and uppity, particularly regarding lifestyle and London. You are both on a “health” kick, implying meticulous checks of food labels to ensure absence of additives, preservatives etc. But on the next video you are discussing the macaroons you plan to eat whilst drinking wine. I’m no nutritionist, but I’m pretty sure wine contains alcohol which is toxic to the human body. My point is, if you are going to take this stance of inspiring people to be “heathy” (a word IMO that has lost all meaning), then it may be a wise idea to ensure the narrative you present is consistent. Just because it’s from Daylesford doesn’t mean it’s always “good for you” and “high quality” (and if it is, it would be good to understand why you came to that conclusion). With respect to London and housing, you have very strong opinions which you are completely entitled to. That said, I think you could be more tactful in your dissection of city. It may be worth remembering that not everyone had the great fortune of being an initial investor in Revolut and are reaping the substantial rewards to this day. Of course you worked very hard, but the cashflow from stocks most likely provided you the ability to buy every home in cash (my assumption, if I’m wrong, please correct me). Some people don’t have the choice but to live in “soulless new builds” or “sh*thole SW London”. All this to say, it might be a wise idea to spend a little more time reviewing content before publishing as I’m sure you don’t want to alienate your audience. We enjoy your videos but a more balanced perspective would be appreciated.
