We have just renovated a 400 year old Manor. Start from the top and work down. Make sure the roof is ok, then work down. If you do easy work below it and then have to work above it, you'll regret it. It's your choice, but I wouldn't go putting patio doors in. I wouldn't risk damaging the cottage. Check out breathable paint and plasters. Old houses don't like modern-day materials. They need to breathe, or you get damp and mould. Don't just trust any builder that rolls up. It's just work for them. Do research on things. What tools to buy and how to use them. Even your fella using the steamer. Leave the steamer on the wall while you scape the other. You're wasting steam and electricity. Anyway, good luck and Merry Christmas
If I could offer one tiny piece of feedback, I think using slightly softer and more inviting background music could enhance the charming atmosphere of the house and the renovation process. It's just a minor suggestion! Looking forward to more of your content. Wishing you all the best with your renovations!
Like the fact you’ve given us a back history of the property. I’d be interested in seeing what you’ve got planned to do. On the face of it the property looks in generally in good condition, certainly fit enough to use whilst you do your makeover. I’m looking forward to the transformation and the discovery you will inevitably make along the way. I like your presentation style. ❤
Your planning process can be very interesting and helpful. Walk through and explanations of what you plan to do and why. How do you know what’s structural, etc. Look forward to seeing the plans.
We had painters come and change the exterior window paint (coming in the next vlog!) and they removed all the old paint professionally and resprayed as they weren’t entirely sure!

Good luck with your renovations! I'm itching to get into my new place and start documenting the transformation.

If you put in the new doors next to where the drainage pipes are, will they still be visible?
The pipes are all being redirected to the far right of the property and new drains put in. They’re a bit all over the place at the moment!
Did you test to see if paint has lead in it?
