Paul Whybrew still works for the royal family but in a new role. He was given a home for life in a cottage at Windsor Palace by Queen Eliabeth in her will. He has been hired by King Charles to catalogue and archive all of Queen.Elizabeth II's personal correspondence spanning her entire life and reign.

    • @lsmith9249
      @lsmith9249 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Our Monarchs don't give homes for life to staff for life, there would be no housing left for staff, houses go with jobs, in the past some old retainers had been given homes for life for their loyalty and this was all stopped by our Government in the 1970s, because we the taxpayers were paying for it
and its very unlikely that Paul Whybrew has been given access to any of our late Queen's papers, that job would be given to someone senior who had already seen them, which was her private secretary Sir Edward Young, he dealt with official and private documents, he was little more than a butler
and no one knows what was in our Queen's will, royal wills are sealed
the only that is that most things are passed from Monarch to Monarch
don't believe everything you read, royal reporters have said most of it is gossip and made up

    • @harlowesadventuresinwonder1564
      @harlowesadventuresinwonder1564 ปีที่แล้ว +19

@lsmith9249 It has been reported in every major news outlet across the commonwealth and most of the world, so hundreds of news outlets made it all up? So much so that some historians and universities have raised concerns about his not having a history or archival background and petitioned for a historian to join him. Now, he is heading a team to review all of her papers and decide what gets archived privately and what will publicly enter the royal archives. He is currently publicly listed as a member of the Master of the Household's Department in that position. Windsor, Sandringham, and Balmoral all have cottages on them. Who lives in them and for how long is up to the monarch. Not every servant would get that honor, but some do. As he would lose his position on her death, she indicated that she wished him to have the privilege to stay in his work assigned home for life. Likely King Charles would honor that wish. The cottages don't belong to nor are they paid for by taxpayers. They are private estates owned by the Monarch personally and not held by the crown. As she had been the monarch for 70 years, there were likely few changes over that time, and she likely made those decisions closer to the end of her life or in writing after her death. I suggest that you and anyone else who wants to spout off blindly go do some simple research and see.

@@harlowesadventuresinwonder1564 just because something is widely reported does not make it a fact and these stories originate from our tabloid press, and these historians are authors, Andrew Morton was a tabloid journalist, he is the one making all the fuss
it is always many years before some of a Monarchs private papers are released, King George VI hasn't been released yet
and Paul Whybrew was a page of the backstairs, its a steward or butler
he was not a courtier who are the senior staff
Windsor Castle is owned by the nation and the homes for the staff go with their jobs, our Government changed the rules in the 70s
because a lot of loyal retainers were being allowed to live in grace and favour homes
Balmoral and Sandringham which are miles away are the only properties
      personally owned by the Monarch
but houses go with jobs on estates, in the past when staff retired some were given homes for life, but that was senior staff and it doesn't happen now
and our press have said, it was our late Queen's wish that some of her ex staff were given homes, but ex staff have 3 months to vacate their homes
in fact the press complained about this when our Queen Mother died
there is no evidence of our Queen making that wish, the press have said it was in her will, but royal wills are sealed

Lady Hussey was a Lady In Waiting... and one of her jobs was to get information about people in the room before the Queen entered. So that should the Queen meet an individual, she would remind the Queen (if needed) who the person was and what company they represented (thus, sticking by the Queen's side). And in the case of the other woman calling Racism, she was fully dressed in traditional African Attire (even though she was from the Carribean). It was just a misunderstanding that got blew out of proportion.

1:07 Hussey is not racist.... Hussey wanted to confirm the nationality and culture of the Queen’s visitors.... This is a protocol to inform the Queen of her subjects and visitors in advance before a Royal event.... The black woman who accused Hussey was a troublemaker.... She destroyed Hussey’s reputation that was established by her role in the monarchy.

Their jobs died with QEII unless the new Monarch chose to re-employ them. As for Lady Hussey, she was asking Fulani a reasonable question, if she had known she was being entrapped, she would have asked about her family's origins. It was Lady Hussey's job to gather information that the host could discuss when presented.

HM the King personally thanked them and gave them a further honour under Royal Victorian Order, which are honours that cannot be nominated for but are solely in the gift of the reigning Monarch.

Lady Hussey should not have stepped aside. My mother was half African and my father was of Scandinavian descent. I used to have both black and white
people touching my unusual butter blonde afro hair. I did not regard it as racist from either race. For them to find it interesting was flattering but to touch it was ignorant not racist. My people come from Africa, England and Sweden. That's where my people come from again it is not racist to ask this, whomever asks it. Ngozi was just being oversensitive so she could be seen as a victim - which so many people seemingly want to be. The fact that Lady Hussey had to
step aside for being inquisitive is a disgrace.

Initially I would have expected KC3 to keep most of them on, since most of the jobs still had to be done. No doubt some would have taken the oppertunity to move on, and the king would have had people he wanted to bring in.

A perfectly legitimate question. It wasn't racist. If anything was racist it was the accusation of the woman with the colourful garb, who I understand came from London, but preferred to dress as though she came from the Niger Delta.

'Ngozi Fulani' is, in fact, one Marlene Headley. She ran the charity called 'Sistah Space' [sic]. While she grew up in London, her parents both came to the UK from Barbados, so it would have been perfectly reasonable for Ms Headley to state this when conversing to Lady Susan, as she must have known full well what Lady Susan meant. Ms Headley was also dressed in a faux tribal outfit during the exchange, so it's hardly surprising that she was asked about her origins - women brought up in Kilburn tend not to wear invented african costume to official functions! Lady Susan is now, by the way, 'back in the fold'.
Angela Kelly decided to move back to her roots and, apparently, was gifted a decent-sized detached house in Yorkshire.
On his retirement, Edward Young was made a peer and a Lord-in-Waiting to HM King Charles.

    • @CDClvstitle42

Exactly. I would have responded to the Elderly woman that my ancestors were from Nigeria but my family came to the UK in blank year. You're right she is a cow. A person from London will ask a new aquaintace where are your people from and the response might be Cornwall. It's just their way of asking, not meant as disrespect or racist. People in the Southern U.S. or the Appalachian mtns. aka Hill people always ask who are your people or where are you from, it's just their way.

Ly, I live in Africa and have never seen any woman living in any African country dressed as shoddy and untidily as her. All our African ladies from their different tribes dress beautifully and neatly and you can see they take pride in their traditional dress. Fulani looked a hot mess and dirty. Sorry to say it.

⚔️Some ppl, of whom, be uneducated, so will answer a question, that they presume, is a racist question, that begins with: ‘Where did Ur ppl come from?’ Is, because the replier, was lacking in a pride of their roots, and finds themselves to be isolated, and or self pitying, perhaps. We must move on, from racism being relevant to that kind of question; by the former Lady in Waiting’ reply; I can see that she doesn’t have an gram of racism, within her, otherwise, she wound’t have asked the question. The very person E111R is the one, who had her in a trusted, and position requiring loyalty, without issue, is where to look, for her history: Her credential’s can’t get any higher.🛡️

GOOD FOR PRINCESS ANNE!!! After years of selflessly, and without pay, tending to the royal family, Miss Hussey certainly deserves better backing from the royal family than what she was shown from King Charles and Camilla! Thank you Anne for stepping up and helping someone who has served your family for many years!

The woman is in her late 80’s. She should have the decency of retiring instead of insisting to take a salary and prevent someone from being promoted. We all know that she is not up to working at the level she used to work 10 or 20 years ago.

I am a 5th generation, native Floridian and people who have moved to the state in more recent years are always shocked that people lived here before Disney. They usually want to know more about where my family originated. It is just a matter of curiosity, no need to take offense or to alert the media.

  • @davidchurch3472

So, is it 'racism' to try to understand other people and to respect their culture and heritage, and make an effort to be friendly and conversational and find out about them? Should we just show total disinterest?
That lady that claims to be offended, says she was 'born here' which is not actually true : She was not born in the Palace where the reception was held. I don't know where she was born, and sadly neither does Miss Hussey, after appearing to make an effort to be friendly. Maybe she was born in London, or maybe in Rhydygroes or maybe Leicester, Scone, or Llanharan.
Neither was I born 'here'. I was born in Barry, East Glamorgan, and I am proud that My People are from various places, bringing with them various cultures and heritages, including Leeds, Wales, Lincolnshire, Chewton, Caldecott, Wiltshire, Moray, Cork, and more.
I am sorry that this lady had no distinctive heritage or culture to be proud of and tell about to a friendly enquiry other than bland, uniform, boring, 'UK'.
