I believe these medications act differently on everyone. For me personally, bupropion was an answer to prayer. Severe depression lifted. I still have my days, but on the whole, it's worked for me. I wish all well.
That's true.. I abused many drugs over the years and I knew some pretty functional normal people that would do a couple hours of cocaine and will be on the ground with a gun like they were a soldier and going from one window to the next. And I've known people that can do cocaine and go to work and you never would know it. That wasn't me though. I'm glad the Wellbutrin help I'm thinking about getting on Lexapro I have an appointment tomorrow
I have history of stimulants and other drugs abuse, MDD, anhedonia, no motivation to get out of my bed. I tried snorting bupropion once (150mg tablet) and its nothing to compare with amphetamines or cocaine. High is unplesant and short acting, instead I just started to take bupropion as prescribed and this med changed my life in every aspect. No more depression, no more lack of energy and no more drugs craving. I'm on theraphy now, changed my bad habits and i feel optimistic first time from very long time.
That is truly a remarkable and inspirational success story! I wish you continued success on your journey to recovery. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I've been on this medicine for at least 3 or 4 weeks...how long did it take for all the previous depression to wither away?? I've been taking this medication every day and it's gotten me up and active and happy and then some days down and sad ...
@@GodfearingGuy101 I've waited 6 weeks for full effect. It's normal to feel ups and downs at the beggining, but it should stabilize soon. If not you can bump your dose up or ask your doctor to add another med for better response. I'm also on low dose of mirtazapine (15mg) and it seems to work synergistically. Good luck!
I have struggled with addiction since adolescence including a coke addiction. I started Wellbutrin 6 months ago for depression. It has helped me quit smoking cigarettes and reduced my coke cravings. I am now 6 months sober and cant remember the last time i had a drug craving. This drug literally saved my life my depression is under control and i am working with an addiction counselor to help maintain sobriety. I dont think i could have done it without this med.
Congratulations on achieving and maintaining sobreity! I have seen patients struggle to achieve what you have done. Do not dismiss the role your own strength and resolve played in helping you reach your goal. Wellbutrin was just a tool you used to get there. Thank you for sharing with the community. I wish you continued success in the future.
I've been taking Bupropion for depression and ADHD for 3 months and it doesn't give me any side effects. I naturally have really low blood pressure, so the fact that the drug increases it is actually beneficial for me. Previously I tried 3 different SSRIs and they all gave me emotional numbness, constant nausea, sleeping problems and lack of sex drive. I guess you just have to try antidepressants from different groups and find a good match for yourself.
Escitalopram and clonazepam gave me horrible sexual side effects ! Should I try wellburtin ? I just have lack of energy fatigue due to my past depression ! I don't have any Panik attacks or deep depression ! Just fatigue in my body with sexual side effects of clonazepam and Escitalopram. ! R u still taking it ?
@@ashuvijay7031 yeah, I'm still taking it and feel really good, finally able to function normally and not rot in bed all the time. My sexual drive is normal on Wellbutrin. I took escitalopram as well, it was the first drug for depression that I got prescribed and it gave me sleeping, eating and sexual side effects. The only side effects of Wellbutrin I've observed are that my skin got slightly more oily and hair gets greasy faster. Also, SSRI drugs just made me really numb, helped with depression but I couldn't function normally, so I was just my depressed self unable to complete daily tasks, but didn't feel so bad about it I think that wellbutrin could be a good match for you, cause it mainly gives you energy and motivation, but doesn't really calm you down if you struggle with anxiety and such.
Wellbutrin the only medication for my bipolar 2 which hasn’t had upsetting side effects - no weight gain, no lethargy, no reduction in libido. Have been on it now for over a decade without issues. Every person is different. Suspect I have atypical bipolar 2.
Same. I also had a pretty bad case of OCD while on it. I stopped taking it last week after 6 months with the goal of managing ADHD. Clearly it didn't help. Too much norepinephrine in my brain resulted in me reacting to the most mild critiques and disagreements as if I were being attacked by a bear. Took a few days to completely leave my system, but once it did I felt so much better. I'm disappointed in my doctor for downplaying the anxiety risk. If you already struggle with anxiety, I would say Wellbutrin is not for you.
I was diagnosed with MDD 8 years ago, taking SSRIs since then a month ago I started taking bupropian 300 mg. It has increased my motivation for study because I am engineering student and have lots of stress.
I just got my Bupropion HCL 150 MG filled today. Since this mediation has a black box warning. I have to meet with my Nurse Practitioner every month. I have my bottle in my hand now. I have yet to take it. I’ve heard really great things about the medication. I got it prescribed for my depression, but especially for my ADHD. I’m hoping it does great things for me. Considering I’m not hyper, but I have a difficult time focusing and concentrating on this. I procrastinate a lot. I start wayyy to many projects that I don’t finish. With my ADHD it’s like this: Imagine being in a gymnasium with hundreds of thousands post it notes on the walls. On every post it note, there are thoughts, tasks and projects listed on them. That’s what my mind is like 24/7. The projects, thoughts, ideas and advice are really great. It will definitely benefit my life and progress me further. But I just cannot even go through step one and sit down to focus. I get so distracted easily. It’s horrible. Hopefully this medication will really help me!
I didn’t know how to explain how I was feeling but you hit the nail on the head with this one 😂 my mind is trying to focus on all these great things I want to do but I can’t begin because I can’t focus on that one thing. I’m trying to focus on 2000 things at one time and getting nothing done. Then beat myself up because I’m getting nothing done 🤦🏾♀️
Wellbutrin made my heart beat faster than normal and sometimes I would get heart palpitations while being on it. It definitely was not fun while working out. I am on Lexapro now, but the Wellbutrin did help me quit smoking, when I did smoke it tasted horrible and my body would reject nicotine which was pretty cool. Since Wellbutrin is a smoking cessation. I can definitely say I only wish I was still taking it to help me focus. But after taking the wellbutrin i kind of am permanently in a state where i can somewhat still focus and actually come to terms with what i need to do in terms of motivation. @@strawhatpirates4
I was put on Wellbutrin after my husband passed away. It kept me in a deep, dark hole for an entire year. I weaned myself off, and the darkness lifted and I actually felt like living again. No more for me, thanks.
Hi Jan4222, I’m sorry to hear about the bad experience you had. As you know, it doesn’t work the same in everyone. I’m glad you’ve recovered completely. Thank you for sharing.
@@doug5372 I would say the opposite. I didn't care if I lived or died or woke up in the morning. It was more than losing my husband, which was (and is) bad enough. I was drowning in darkness. The longer I was off that poison, the better I felt.
Took Wellbutrin around the start of this year and almost immediately developed severe tinnitus. I quit cold turkey after a couple of weeks but the ringing persisted. It's been steadily improving since, but if I knew my life could be so negatively impacted by this drug I would've stayed far away from it. Antidepressants are often handed out as a first line treatment without even considering the patient's lifestyle factors that could be making them depressed. After this experience I refuse to ever take psychiatric medications again.
Took Buboprion for about 6 months and felt pretty good at first. Helped my social anxiety. One thing ive never heard doctors talk about is the possibility of the medication raising your testosterone. I was always hot and aggressive, excessive sweating and high blood pressure. When i took a testosterone lab test my test was 877. Im 38m
I just got my Bupropion HCL 150 MG filled today. I have my bottle in my hand now. I have yet to take it. Hopefully this doesn’t happen with me. I’ve heard really great things about the medication.
Hi CaliDeCali, I came across one study in laboratory animals suggesting that bupropion may raise testosterone levels. Studies performed in animals do not confirm findings in humans. Besides, other studies found no evidence that bupropion raises testosterone levels. I think you need to get evaluated for other causes, just to make sure. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve had to be on spironolactone (testosterone blocker) since I got an bupropion Because my acne and hair loss got out of control I’m almost positive that it was from the medication. But since I got on those two medication’s I have never felt better.
@@erikthechosenone what happened now ? u took it for 2 weeks? bc i got diagnosed with major depressive disorder so is it gonna cause that ? also i wanna get my driving license after a month & half, will it be dangerous to drive while taking it
Bupropion worked great for me for a long time, but I still had some residual depression from seasonal changes that were hard to subside. My doctor added prozac, and for sure I became way less depressed, more energy, huge increase in memory. The side effects however, were unbearable, I was waking up earlier and earlier each morning until finally I started waking up at 2am unable to go back to sleep, shakes/chills, jaw clinching, and horrendous GI issues. After a month of this, I finally had to toss in the towel, despite it working great for my depression and anxiety. This is the concerning part, after ending the prozac, my insomnia didn't go away, and my wellbutrin is now causing nervousness. Now I'm having to stop both... we'll see how it goes
i personally have been suffering from post ssri sexual dysfunction (pssd) for almost a decade after a 10 month treatment with citalopram. i know many people who suffer from post ssri syndrome in a more severe form than i do, i.e. with symptoms of emotional dulling and anhedonia and cognitive dysfunction. there are young people among them who have taken a drug for all in all mild problems, and not severe depression or mental disorders. I wonder how a doctor can be honest about this and continue to prescribe these serotoninergic drugs in abundance, which are also becoming more and more widespread off-label. and how can a patient really assess the risk-benefit ratio before prescribing, as long as there is no epidemiological data to tell how widespread the risk of PSSD is and doctors continue to fail to inform before prescribing, and even to deny the harm done.
@N X I understand your concern, but usually a doctor would inform his patients of the potential side effects of a particular medication to avoid any surprises. That way, you can make an informed decision as to whether you want to take the medication.
@@DrKevinLowe it's sad but when it comes to psychiatrist I would rank them near the bottom when it comes to explaining side effects or even explaining the diagnosis to the patient. I have a history of opiate and amphetamine addiction.. primarily opiate… I was addicted to heroin for about 10 years and later on in there I started dabbling in amphetamines.. I am currently taking Wellbutrin after taking it for a year and a half then not taking it for a year and a half … now I’m back taking it… I wanted to come off just to see how it would go.. it went fine and it has actually reduced the amount of cigarettes I smoke from almost a pack a day to 3 a day or sometimes only 1… but I’m still an addict so that one is tuff to drop… but I am literally about as much of an addict as a human can be.. not proud just a realist and this drug has helped me in so many ways and I’ve never felt the urge to abuse it. After doing heavy drugs I honestly cannot see how this drug would ever even be worth abusing.. it’s so subtle which is what I love about it.

I got prescribed to Wellbutrin to help me quit smoking (I still smoke). But I stayed on it because it helped my depression A LOT!! The bad effects I get is I get irritated for small reasons.. I snap at my family; it’s like I have a shorter fuse. Also I “zone out” just stare off into space while someone’s talking to me and I’ll even say “uh huh”, “oh really?”, “Yeah”, etc.. then I snap out of it and say “sorry I zoned out, will you repeat what you were saying?” 🤦♀️ But I like it overall because it improves my mood, helps me deal with stressful situations so much better and helps my depression.
Hi Allsmilelovee, Wellbutrin has certainly helped many people with multiple complaints.I'm glad it has had a positive effect . Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching.
I relate to zoning out but tbh I’m not sure if it’s the drug that causes it. I feel like it could be the case that wellbutrin made me notice it more when it happens instead of it making it happen more. I think it might even be thinkable that I was constantly zoning out before but because it starts to subside now I notice it because my focus shifts. I’m at my second/ third week 150mg per day. So far I noticed that everything feels a bit off. Also I have some weird feeling of nervousness without being nervous (I know that sounds stupid but I cant describe in any other way, it’s kinda physical but there’s this weird sensation of pressure in my abdomen too) All in all it’s awkward but my head seems somewhat clearer, I am less emotional in situations that I would normally be inappropriately emotional in. Etc. … I need to give it some more time and see what happens along the way
I was on this for about a year and it was horrible. My anxiety was through the roof, I had extreme trouble sleeping and had increased vivid nightmares and had constant jitters. It was not a good experience and I’m glad I’m no longer on it.
I’m sorry to hear of the adverse experience you had. Unfortunately, medications act differently in patients. Some people are better able to tolerate medications from specific classes than others. @SynchronousFailure it went away in a few days, it was like little bouts of it about 30 seconds at a time. The stuff made me feel crazy, couldnt find my words, weird fog, higher heart rate, felt like everyone was staring at me, full anhedonia......all was better after stoping for 2 days
I took Wellbutrin for 3 days and now I have hives, chest pain and right side neck pain. It was atrial for the right Med for ADD. Now taking Zyrtec and Claritin
Thank you for the indepth information. I found you searching for Welbutrin side effects. It has been added in addition to an SSRI I'm taking for MDD. Initially, I felt better, but I'm still struggling terribly. I think I'm having negative side effects of brain fog & imbalance. Two falls now and a fractured wrist. I was so hopeful of this medication. :(
Hello SpicyBricy, thank you for your warm comment. I am not sure if you meant that you have had two falls and a fractured wrist since starting Wellbutrin; but if that is the case, today is Friday here and waiting until Monday is taking unnecessary risks. I would advise that you call your caregiver immediately and let them know what you are experiencing. Falls can be very dangerous. Thank you for sharing.
Wish I'd never take it. Numb feet after stopping it to fast from 300 mg.. Pain in whole body but the numbness ist the worst.. Still after 5 weeks off 😢😢😢😢
I have been watching several youtube videos by various doctors on this medication and have never heard it has similar effects as cocaine (nor the various street names you list)... in high doses you state. It would be helpful if you gave a range of what might be considered a high dose. I am familar with the risks of seizures and other possible side effects. Thank you.
Hello sheilabrennan4481, when it comes to medication, anything above the recommended dose is considered a high dose. If you’re taking a dosage at the upper limits of normal, that too can be referred to as a high dose as opposed to a lower dose. Like all medications, Wellbutrin could be and has been a miracle drug for some, whereas, for others, it could be the source of severe side effects. Of course, if the medication is abused, the likelihood of side effects increases significantly. Thank you for watching.
My dad switched to this from Fluoxetine because he wanted the the added benefit of not smoking. He killed himself without warning within two weeks of the change. Be careful 🙏
I am so sorry, Brittany. My son, an Army vet, was given Bupropion on April 4, 2023. On April 5 he took his last photos, an avid photographer. He took his own life, completely surprising everyone, on April 13. 8 days. He went from mild depression with ZERO suicidal thoughts, to dead in 8 days.
@@bsbrum I am so sorry! A parent should never experience the pain of losing a child. My heart breaks for you. I talked to my dad 7 minutes before. He was fine, laughing and told me he would see me that Wednesday. April 2022 Elon Musk tweeted “Wellbutrin is way worse than Adderall imo. It should be taken off the market. Every time that drug has come up in conversation, someone at the table has a suicide or near suicide story.” He got so much bad press for saying it, but he is right. Studies outside the US show the truth of its links to suicide. The test groups are ridiculously small. These doctors should wear patches on their lab coats like race car drivers showing which pharmaceutical companies fund them.
@@brittanyguerra602 i could not agree more. Did you know that because the DEA has classified Bupropion as being low risk for abuse, any primary care provider in all 50 states can prescribe it!? Thank you for the warnings doc. Good video. I've been taking 150mg for about 6 months and overall it's been positive. I have a history of drug abuse but never abused Wellbutrin (just promised myself the day I started taking it that I would never abuse it). Small hallucinations plus restlessness here and there. Something I'm curious about is the most prescribed antidepressants like ssris and snris help with serotonin and norepinephrine. From what I understand sexual pleasure and energy fall under the dopamine umbrella. So do these medications indirectly help with dopamine? Now this is probably a few years down the road but it sure will be nice when we can take a blood test for dopamine and the rest of our crucial chemicals that keep us happy and everything else they do. I want to understand it more because I do know our gut is real crucial as far as serotonin and the rest of the neurotransmitters and or neurons and please forgive me if my medical is a little off
Hi Brian, SSRIs and SNRIs do not work on the dopaminergic system in the brain. Bupropion does. It certainly would be interesting to do a blood test and get a read out of your neurotransmitter levels. That would introduce targeted therapy by guiding practitioners in which antidepressants they prescribe for a particular patient. Who knows what we will see in the future?
That's the most frustrating thing when trying to figure out which antidepressant to take because you don't know if it's your dopamine or serotonin or whatever how many other happy chemicals in the brain
@Brian Williams probably the biggest help is getting the gene site test to see what your body reacts with to narrow down the ones to try. It's test all of them. Made us realize we wasted years trying stuff that didn't metabolize.
One of my friends experienced increased irritability and impatience after taking a certain medication, causing him to smoke more cigarettes. After stopping the medication, he returned to smoking at a normal rate, but not as much as when he was on the medication. So, be cautious.
Unfortunately my experience wasn't good. I used bupropion and noticed an initial increase in motivation, but over time It completely altered my ability to express empathy. I also became extremely combative. I could see a shift in my personality but I thought this side effect would diminish over time so I continued while it only got worse. I stopped before I lost the ability to rationally acknowledge this wasn't my normal behavior. I've experienced everything from opiates to stimulant medication like phentermine that acts on the same neurotransmitters and nothing ever caused such an extreme out of control reaction like bupropion did for me. *Not to say it won't work for others, this is just a cautionary tale of my experience, since it's supposed to be a mild antidepressant*
Huh. I did notice that I'm slightly less empathetic on the medication. But for me, it just means I'm less sensitive I think. And stuff doesn't bother me as bad. I don't ruminate on my own mistakes as hard or as long. And it is harder for other people to manipulate me. I'm sorry you had a bad experience though. I've been on meds that didn't agree with me before. And that's no fun. And I feel like this is another reason that more medications need to be researched. And we need to check for genetic factors that could help figure out what meds work best for which people. The whole trial and error thing is no fun.
Long story short, ever since last year I’ve had a strange feeling in my chest, shortness of breath and tingling hands. There have been 2 times in the last year where I thought I was having a heart attack and 1 of them was when I was driving. It scared the shit out of me. Went to the doctor and my EKG was good, but my blood tests say I have high cholesterol and low vitamin D. My doctor thinks this might be due to anxiety and depression (I don’t think I’m depressed) so I just got prescribed Wellbutrin and this comment section is making me nervous. Edit: still haven’t taken the Wellbutrin. Too many negative side effects
Did they test your ferritin levels? Why would they give you medication for depression rather than tell you to take some vitamin d and omega-3 for a supplement? That's crazy
Thank you so much for this information. I can't find any info. online about what Wellbutrin did to me (paralysis, intense pain for months, lose of use of limb) but I understand from an urgent care visit and a quick medigoogle the practitioner did that day that muscle weakness is listed as a side effect. If I had known it had this level of impact on dopamine I would not have let the dr put me on it for one second, since I know what that does in my body.

Bupropion has a very loose binding as DTI. It is somewhere 80%. It is actually so low, that it is thought to play no role in the pharmacokinetics. Responsible for the effect is more the nicotinic antagonism+NTI.

I was on it a few months ago and it actually helped, but I got out of rhythm of takin it and stopped. I reverted back to my depression. I just started again last Saturday on 300mg extended release. Looking into it, I'm surprised the psychiatrist subscribed that much at once. I have that feeling like I do when I drink too much caffiegn and I'm fidgety and a bit agitated. I remember last that subsided after a week or so. I actually started running the day after I took it, and have ran every day since. I feel a lot more motivated in general. One concern I have is hair loss. I was experiencing hair loss months ago and start finasteride and minoxidol orrally, neither causes side affects and my hair is looking a lot better. Today I found out there is an association between hair loss and welbutrin, so I am worried that my previous hair loss was actually caused by the welbutrin. This is a significant side affect that I am surprised is not mentoined much. I am going to give it a couple week and see if I experiencing shedding. IF I do, I will have to reconsider welbutrin tbh.
Hello ryanwhite393, hair loss remains a rare side effect of the medication, but all indications are that the hair loss is temporary and ceases once the m,edication is stopped. Your doctor can prescribe an alternative medication without this side effect. Thanks for sharing.

I do not think it is appropriate for selecting initial therapy, because the scientific evidence is still lacking as to the efficacy of genesense testing. A few studies have reported superior results in genesense treated patients compared with patients treated without genesense testing. Other studies were less favorable and reported no difference between the two modes of treatment. There is a danger that avoiding medications based on genesense testing may deprive patients of valuable treatment options, prolonging their symptoms and putting them at risk of complications. I imagine that genesense testing may provide some benefit in patients who have failed treatment with multiple medications. As a last resort, it may give some direction on what drug to try next. In order to place genesense testing in its proper place in patient care, we need more high quality studies on this type of treatment. Please follow your physician's recommendations on any medications you are prescribed. Thank you for watching.
When Wellbutrin was still an American made, non-generic drug, it was a terrific CNS stimulant and mood enhancer. It helped me work more efficiently and also to look and feel better. When the patent ran out and the generic versions were the only thing available, it was like a prescription placebo. It literally did nothing except waste your co-pay every month. I was off of it for a decade, but I recently tried it again after my daughter was murdered by her fiance. The generic Wellbutrin (bupropion) isn't even made in the USA anymore. It's made in India! Out of desperation I took it anyway. Within 10 days I developed chronic migraines, anger episodes, unalive ideation, and severe joint pain. I felt like I had been poisoned. I would rather be depressed than have that garbage in my body.
I've tried a few different generics at this point. And the more oval/oblong white tablet was like taking a placebo. (It has the number 145 on it) I had a month where that generic did nothing for my mood, before getting a different and actually effective generic. Pharmacists and drug companies like to try and say that generics are all the same. But that has not been my experience. The fda doesn't do enough to make sure all generics are up to standard. I have even been given a generic adhd medication (supposedly a generic for concerta.) That I later found out the fda had pulled from the market, because it was proven to be way less effective. A low quality generic can make for a very hard month. I've lost too much time to mental illness. And I have lost too much time to poor quality generics.
I have been on wellbutrin for a month and have a buzzing in my head that I don't think will go away even if I stop taking it. the medicine. is there any hope
Please discuss any side effects you are having with your prescribing doctor ASAP. Only they can advise you on your medication. I hope you feel better soon.
I have eaten bupropion for a few years now and it totally saved my libido that my ssri were killing. But.. Is there any connection between bupropion and hair loss? Because I'm losing so much hair! I feel so torn because bupropion have made me feel more human, but I don't want to lose more hair..
Hello, I am happy to hear how well bupropion worked for you. Hair loss is a recognized but rare side effect of bupropion. Some sources claim it is temporary, but I cannot vouch for that. You should discuss the hair loss with your doctor. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for such a in depth video about bupropion after researching different metabolic processes and effects I would like to study pharmacology after I’m done with my studies in college any suggestions on how or where to study pharmacology for the future? Thank you

Hi Tal, Unfortunately, no medication works the same way in every single person. It may be possible that other medications help you better. Thanks for watching.
It also caused me to experience extreme and constant depression that only subsided when I decided to quit taking it. When taking it, I could "taste" the dopamine release from the drug. The first ten days it helped me to focus and it improved my productivity at work. However, then it began to make me feel complete despair unlike any med I have ever taken. I did not use it with any other meds, and I didn't drink or use it with other drugs. I haven't used it since 2021.
@@januarybaby392 Sounds like a lie. Wellbutrin doesn’t work right away. It needs to build up to see it’s working and that would take 4-8 weeks at least.
Yes ! A few yrs back o had to go to rehab a couple weeks and they put on that. Within a short period I became so depressed after taking it.I said never again.
I have been taking this drug since 2020, this last year I was also prescribed phentermine. I seriously went into psychosis and became extremely paranoid, I quit both drugs and my Anxiety has ceased and I’m just now starting to think right again.. be careful while taking any prescribed medication.
I am glad to hear you were helped by the medication. Remember that you should only change your dose under the supervision of your doctor. I wish you the best. Thanks for watching.
I was on for 4 months and I felt like that where I didn’t care about anything or anyone. What happened after that on your experience? I plan on going back to start.
I think wellbutrin made me stop drinking alcohol. I'm on 150 XL once daily. Two beer made me feel like I was on eight. I was getting extremely tired on two beers so I stopped. Could this a a direct reaction from the Wellbutrin.
Hello robertpetzold1620, thank you for sharing your story with us. Wellbutrin does in fact decrease the tolerance to alcohol in some people. Drinking alcohol while taking Wellbutrin can cause impaired cognition and lack of concentration and for this reason should be avoided. Wellbutrin is widely used to treat addictions and in some centers is used to decrease the craving for alcohol. It is possible it really did stop you drinking alcohol. Thanks for watching.
Is there any other antidepressant other than Wellbutrin, that doesn't cause sexual side effects? Somebody please answer this or tell me what works . Thank you
I’ve been on this for a little over 5 years. I’m currently taking 450mg. Which is the max amount. It works for now. I will say I wished I would have gotten help with my MDD and anxiety sooner. I robbed myself of living a life that could have been much more enjoyable all because of the stigma that I associated with having to be on medication.
What are the long term effects of prolonged abuse? I’ve been addicted to Wellbutrin for years and have snorted it as my means of ingestion. What is going to happen to me?
Hello joshgeyer7941, one of the dangers of any addiction is the effects it has on your ability to function in your relationships, both at work and at home. These obviously can affect your productivity. There is also the risk of adverse effects on your general health, which is extremely important. One of the most important steps towards recovery is recognizing that the problem exists, and you have already declared that fact. You are therefore well on your way to recovery and I hope you are able to maintain that momentum moving forward. Have you sought professional help? I wish you continued success and hope to hear full recovery from you in the near future. Thank you for watching.
I have been on b for over the years, 225mg once a day. I'm seventy-five and have been experiencing dementia-type physical reactions. I'm being evaluated by a neurologist who thinks I might have early-stage Parkinson's. Any connection between the drug and my symptoms?
Hello, Parkinsonian symptoms can be a side effect of bupropion, although it occurs rarely. You should discuss and side effects with your prescribing doctor. Thank you for watching.
Hello, Adderall was used to treat depression in the early to mid 20th century. Depending on the type of depression, Adderall can be effective. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching.
Did you discuss this with your prescribing doctor? They have all the information needed to help make meaningful decisions. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching.
So......... The dangers are if the patient uses Wellbutrin in ways not intended? So follow your prescriber's recommended dosage and only swallow it whole, as intended, and there shouldn't be any problems?
Probably harder for those who have struggled with substance abuse, who find out how they can use the medication inappropriately. But probably fine for anyone else who responds to the medication in general.
These meds are wonderful for people suffering from true clinical depression. However, the sub clinical depression people have a more difficult time. It does lift the symptoms except it leaves one emotionally flat. No highs or lows just a monotone.
I was prescribed Wellbutrin 150 xl to stop smoking. I had all bad side effects. It did help me not to want to smoke. However I had heart palpitations, nausea, dizziness and low energy. I had to stop taking it.
Hello BenjaminTRogers, I'm sorry to hear that. While those side effects are relatively rare, they can be quite troublesome when they do occur. I hope you were able to finally stop smoking. It is one of the most important steps towards achieving a high standard of health. Thank you for sharing.
you cannot compare these medicines to things like ecstacy or heroine. mainly because the high you would get from the medicines is so very different, and mostly very unpleasant.
I tried it last year for a few months but I didn't notice much difference and some days I skipped it.I am feeling a little down lately even when I'm doing things I enjoy. I'm going to give it a try again with some caution. Keeping in mind that many people forget to take their Vitamins Like D, and potassium that helps with low energy levels and therefore feeling depressed. The best thing is to keep your doctor in the loop to monitor your Health situation.

Best medication I've ever tried for panic attacks anxiety. I take it along side with 400to600 l theanine. Tried quite a bit of different ssri's . Sexual side effects are a big factor for me taking a medication . I will take this over all the others. If something ruins your sex life why would anyone want to take medication for that ?
I have combined type ADHD and I have tried other ADHD meds and Wellbutrin XL has been the only one that have helped me with my ADHD symptoms. The only side effect I have been experiencing is a little bit of hair loss.
I’m glad to hear that you were able to get relief with Wellbutrin. Hair loss is a rarely reported side effect. According to some investigators, it is temporary. Thanks for sharing.
Wellbutrin didn't work for me. I had suicidal thoughts, I started having panic attacks at work, intrusive thoughts, questioning reality. That was only a week into taking it. If I continued id probably be dead.
Hello, I am sorry to hear about the experiences you had while taking Wellbutrin. I trust, by now, you have received a safe and effective alternative. @@DrKevinLowe I decided to go back on it and lost all the weight I gained. There’s so many benefits to it. Quitting the medication didn’t reduce my anxiety. Im curently on Duloxetine 30mg q day, while my anxiety is mild compared to others', it is enough to affect my job. I hate how lethargic it makes me, so tired every day, i get 7-9 hours of good quality sleep, eat well and workout often. Literally feel exhausted.... I have struggled with addiction since adolescence including a coke addiction. I started Wellbutrin 6 months ago for depression. It has helped me quit smoking cigarettes and reduced my coke cravings.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with Bupropion and SSRIs; other viewers will benefit from your insights.
Also, SSRI drugs just made me really numb, helped with depression but I couldn't function normally, so I was just my depressed self unable to complete daily tasks, but didn't feel so bad about it
I think that wellbutrin could be a good match for you, cause it mainly gives you energy and motivation, but doesn't really calm you down if you struggle with anxiety and such.
Wellbutrin the only medication for my bipolar 2 which hasn’t had upsetting side effects - no weight gain, no lethargy, no reduction in libido. Have been on it now for over a decade without issues. Every person is different. Suspect I have atypical bipolar 2.

Did you stopped taking it?
My doc prescribed me Ativan for the increased anxiety at times. I definitely get waves of it but it evens out ultimately
Exacly same for me. I was feeling much much worse after it

Took Wellbutrin around the start of this year and almost immediately developed severe tinnitus. I quit cold turkey after a couple of weeks but the ringing persisted. It's been steadily improving since, but if I knew my life could be so negatively impacted by this drug I would've stayed far away from it.
The excessive sweating is the reason I stopped taking it. It was very noticeable hyperhidrosis. Other than that, it was a perfect medication for me.

It was not good for me and had a negative effect.
i personally have been suffering from post ssri sexual dysfunction (pssd) for almost a decade after a 10 month treatment with citalopram. i know many people who suffer from post ssri syndrome in a more severe form than i do, i.e. with symptoms of emotional dulling and anhedonia and cognitive dysfunction. there are young people among them who have taken a drug for all in all mild problems, and not severe depression or mental disorders.

Also I “zone out” just stare off into space while someone’s talking to me and I’ll even say “uh huh”, “oh really?”, “Yeah”, etc.. then I snap out of it and say “sorry I zoned out, will you repeat what you were saying?” 🤦♀️
But I like it overall because it improves my mood, helps me deal with stressful situations so much better and helps my depression.

Wow I am a recovering addict, been prescribed Wellbutrin for years @ 450mg a day. I only wish it gave me energy that others are experiencing!
Update?

April 2022 Elon Musk tweeted

Every time that drug has come up in conversation, someone at the table has a suicide or near suicide story.” He got so much bad press for saying it, but he is right. But significantly less thoughts about suicide, more motivation, better appetite, more creative, quit smoking, more muscle (crazy!), and seemingly getting along with others better. I've made lifestyle changes as well, I don't want to glorify the drug.

@@brianwilliams6555 yes, let’s wait and see what they come up with.
@Brian Williams probably the biggest help is getting the gene site test to see what your body reacts with to narrow down the ones to try. It's test all of them. Made us realize we wasted years trying stuff that didn't metabolize.

@cakepop702 Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Other viewers will certainly appreciate your insight. Thanks for watching.

Bupropion has a very loose binding as DTI. It is somewhere 80%. It is actually so low, that it is thought to play no role in the pharmacokinetics. Responsible for the effect is more the nicotinic antagonism+NTI.

What do you think of genesight testing to determine which medication is best?
Hello, thank you for the question. In my opinion, genesight testing may be helpful in some situations.

I would rather be depressed than have that garbage in my body.

i only tried generic, it was awful.

I have been of it for 15 years. All of sudden, i feel fatigue and sleepness. All of sudden
Hello, it is always best to discuss any side effects with your treating doctor. Thanks for watching.
Ok I’ve been on it a year now and I’m feeling the same. It’s making me extremely tired and just overall exhausted. Did you stop taking it ?
All i know is, the only time I've ever had a lift from my depression was when i took prescription amphetamine/adderall. What does that mean?
Hello, Adderall was used to treat depression in the early to mid 20th century. Depending on the type of depression, Adderall can be effective. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching.
I thought this theory of neurotransmitters has changed?
I been on 450 for 10 years now. it isn’t like how it was the first few years. I don’t know what to do because I don’t wanna take anything else
Hi juztnlast953, for the most part that is correct, but all medications can have side effects even when they are not abused. Thanks for watching.
Probably harder for those who have struggled with substance abuse, who find out how they can use the medication inappropriately. But probably fine for anyone else who responds to the medication in general.
Grand Mal seizure from 150xl. Lesson learned, diet and lifestyle change are much healthier than putting chemicals in your body
First 4-6 months I thought I was alive. Now I’m miserable
Cam g, please see your doctor if your status has changed. There is a long list of medications that can alter your mood. I hope you feel better.
These meds are wonderful for people suffering from true clinical depression. However, the sub clinical depression people have a more difficult time. It does lift the symptoms except it leaves one emotionally flat. No highs or lows just a monotone.
That is interesting to know. Have other users experienced the same thing? Thank you for sharing your experiences. Thank you for watching.
Wellbutrin was like a sugar pill for me, not addictive at all.
Thanks for this information 🎥💯
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching.
All drugs are a crapshoot at best. Everybody's system inside their
Body are unique to themselves.
Truth.
That is a complete lie! Regardless it damages the system in different ways. Stop sucking on the Bottle!
I was so adjetated i felt crazy arguing with strangers. Beware!
Same! Very angry from this med.
Same! I experienced severe aggressive anger. I couldn’t control it.
Same
Highly dangerous some pt’s experience suicidal thoughts
Of course it won’t cause weight gain, I can’t eat on it. :/
Yes, you are right. It is very important to keep your doctor informed on any changes in your state of health. Only they have all the information regarding your health, so only they can make recommendations on how to deal with any problems you face. Thank you for watching.
i was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and i got prescribed bupropion,i do not think it helped me at all in fact my anxiety seemed to get worse.
I'm sorry to hear that. Medications work differently in different people. I hope, with the help of your doctor, you can find a suitable medication. Thanks for watching.
I think you would have to take a huge amount of bupropion before getting a high. It works well as an antidepressant if taken as prescribed.
As you can see from other comments, there are also people who derived significant benefit from Wellbutrin. Like most medications, it works differently in different people. Thank you for sharing, Thank you for watching.
Hello, I am sorry to hear about the adverse side effects you had while taking Wellbutrin. As mentioned by other people in this community, some of them have found the medication to be very helpful. I am glad you caught it early, and I trust you are now fully recovered. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching.
i will die with Wellbutrin in my system. i cant go through that deep of a depression again. for 3 years just, nothing. it's torture. it's being stuck in hell.
Hello, it is heartening to hear Wellbutrin is working for you. Many people have reported similar results with this medication. I wish you continued success on the medication. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the tips on how to abuse Wellbutrin to get high 😅😂
I turned into a fat slob when I tried to quit bupropion. I had no impulse control. Gained 20 pounds in a month.
Sorry to hear that. But, I hope you are discussing your experiences with your prescribing doctor. I wish you all the best.
@@DrKevinLowe I decided to go back on it and lost all the weight I gained. There’s so many benefits to it.
Quitting the medication didn’t reduce my anxiety. I think I’m better with bupropion. 150 is ideal, 300 is too much.
I just need exposure therapy. If I constantly avoid what makes me nervous, I won’t get better no matter what medication I’m on.
Im curently on Duloxetine 30mg q day, while my anxiety is mild compared to others', it is enough to affect my job. I hate how lethargic it makes me, so tired every day, i get 7-9 hours of good quality sleep, eat well and workout often. Literally feel exhausted.... I have no issues with sex, however, thr weight gain is awful. I want to talk to my PCP about trying Wellbutrin. Im tired of being tired.
I’m glad to see you are taking the right steps by speaking to your PCP first before making any changes. I hope the change works well for you. Thanks for sharing.
I'm on Lexapro, no weight gain at all. Zero cravings for extra food
Day 1 on bupropion I feel super agitated and angry. I’m worried
This drugs hell. I’m 19 trying to find my way in life and this is making me more confused and giving me thoughts of the past and thoughts of suicide worse than ever. I can barely function and don’t feel like myself one bit I wouldn’t recommend it I need to quit taking this shit.
Please do honey!
i have been on this drug for 30 years and have never experienced these cocane high. didnt start noticing anything until we added Lexapro
Just got off this and starting to feel better off than on my Dr said just stop and NOOOO taper yourself off this Rx is nothing to mess with and I DIDNT stop smoking
Hi Nota, always follow your doctor’s advice. There are other options for smoking cessation; smoking does a lot of damage to our bodies. Thanks for sharing.
Agreed! Slow with this one!!
