Heart Failure: How Much Salt Is Too Much?
Heart failure patients are frequently advised to reduce their salt intake, but does this truly benefit their health? In this video, we delve into the complex and sometimes contradictory data surrounding sodium intake and heart failure outcomes.
🧂 Why Sodium Matters:
• Sodium is crucial for our bodies, but excess can lead to issues like stiffened arteries, fluid retention, high blood pressure, and eventually heart failure.
• We’ll explore how high sodium intake correlates with heart and kidney disease and strokes, with a look at fascinating case studies like the Yanomami Indians, who have remarkably low blood pressure thanks to their minimal sodium consumption.
🔬 What the Research Shows:
• Discover how studies suggest that while reducing salt intake can prevent high blood pressure and associated conditions, recent trials have shown mixed results for heart failure patients.
• The SODIUM-HF study reveals that while lower sodium may improve symptoms, it doesn’t necessarily extend survival or reduce hospitalizations. In fact, very low sodium levels could potentially increase the risk of adverse outcomes.
📊 Current Recommendations:
• Learn about varying guidelines from health authorities, including the World Health Organization, U.S. Dietary Guidelines, and the American Heart Association.
• For heart failure management, understand why adhering to a sodium intake of 1.5 grams per day for Stage A and B, and up to 2.3 grams for Stage C or D, may be advisable based on the latest evidence.
🔍 Key Takeaway: Stay informed and consult with healthcare providers to tailor sodium intake to your individual health needs. Watch now to get a clearer picture of how to navigate sodium recommendations for heart failure.

      Hello, sinusitis does not cause migraine headaches. Migraines are vascular headaches. Sinusitin can however cause headaches of a different kind. Pain can appear in different parts of the head depending on which sinuses are infected, and occasionally they can be accompanied by constitutional symptoms. You would be best served by seeing a medical professional at your earliest convenience. Thank you for watching.

I was quite shoked hearing about that. But it did help alot at first! then, I belive it didnt work anymore after many years went by. But I cant stop just now, or else I become darkwater". . Oh my. . Im stuck now even for slightest dose but it (Bupropion) has still dangled my brainsystem. I need my pills, seems that at the moment atleast I cant help myself. 🎉❤ some good news about shingles what we need here is Solutions instead of diatribes about the horrors of it here's a solution get yourself some BHT 1/4 of a teaspoon to 1 teaspoon depending on your size dissolve that and warm to coconut oil a couple of tablespoons take that several times a day and maybe once at night. This dissolves the casing and the protective coating around the viruses so that they can't continue. Also if you already have it and you have itchiness use apple cider vinegar on the rash and it stings like crazy for three or four minutes but then it takes the itching out for a good long time so these are some very viable Solutions❤❤

    Ive been symptomatic for years and then finally had an ERCP before a correct diagnosis which then led to a pancreatic bypass with a lot of cutting of the pancreas. HLA-B27 antigen will give you close to normal blood results. Blood tests must be read carefully by a committed gastroenterologist who listens and is serious about your condition. The extreme ends of normal limits matter. Especially in chronic conditions and people with comorbidities So bilirubin can be on the low level like .2 but then find you platelets at the very lowest number within range and your ast or alt is at the highest point of within normal limits range. A slow meticulous review of your bloodwork is necessary. Be your own advocate and do diligence Especially when you know know know something’s wrong. Just prior to having pancreatic surgery I also had a “normal” CT scan. Keep going to find someone to listen to you!!!!! If you KNOW something is wrong. Don’t let someone tell you nothing is wrong. I’ve had a to kiss a lot of frog-doctors to find my prince-doctor. YOU KNOW YOUR BODY! Bless and good luck

    Well my husband def has been left with complications thanks to A&E not emphasising the importance of seeking early medication for this and sent him home with some pain killers. It was our local spec savers that sent him to emergency Ophthalmology clinic that diagnosed shingles and gave him Aciclovir and a thorough eye checkup which luckily was all clear. It would seem by what is being said in this video he has now been left with PHN , Its been a month since rash showed and almost gone but his now been left in constant pain with really terrible attacks today 3 times so far. on side of his face over his eye lid and puffiness under his eye, Is there any hope of a complete recovery or is this his life from now on. Its left him very depressed and doesn't know how much more he can stand of the pain. He cant drive, do any gardening, cant get our shopping. Luckily we have good family to help.

It is still very likely that he will experience continued improvement over the next 6 months, which may even culminate in complete resolution. Was he vaccinated against herpes zoster? Even after a bout of shingles the vaccine is still helpful. How much and how soon he will recover is anybody’s guess. Treatment options in the meanwhile are available and can be very effective. Discuss with your doctor what treatment options they recommend. He can still recover substantially. Thanks for sharing. Thank you for watching.

    Dr Lowe, thank you very much for this video! I tried everything for my eczema and after years of topical steroids, I‘m on dupixent since 3 months. However, my face is still severe and I have eczema on my body. My doctors just want to give me more steroids. What are your thoughts about TSW? Do you have any connections to doctors in Switzerland or the area that you recommend?

    • @DrKevinLowe
      @DrKevinLowe หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, I am very glad you liked the video. TSW is a well recognized phenomenon that can come from prolonged use of topical steroids. Steroids, in general, have many side effects, and for that reason their use is avoided for extended periods of time. No, I don't have any connections to doctors in Switzerland. Your treating dermatologists are the best caregivers to discuss these matters with, since they are most familiar with your history. Give Dupixent a fair chance, and discuss patch testing with your provider. I wish you a speedy recovery. Thanks for watching.

    I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia about 2 1/2 years ago and after about a month of extreme difficulty breathing my topanin level was checked and immediately admitted to the hospital. My Ejection Fraction was 10%. Unfortunately I checked out and decided to go to the VA and finally went back to the hospital and was placed on intravenous lasix and lost about 30lbs of fluid mostly around my heart and lungs. My breathing was labored after discharge. It's gotten better but not as grear as before. I am on lasix and carvidelol but initially in addition to valsartin which combined caused chest pains. I stopped valsartin and only when stressed and Systolic gets around 145 I start feeling it. I've had 5 more EF tests and it hasn't gone above 22%. Did enduring all that fluid around my lungs and heart cause the cardiomyopathy or was it related to stress and high blood pressure? Also what's the likelihood of it ever getting above 22% My most recent blood work everything is within range except the BNP or something related to heart function it's 975 and the cap is 900. Thank you

      Hello, based on what information you have provided your heart failure is probably the result of long standing high blood pressure. You did not mention anything about a cardiac catheterization procedure, but I am guessing one was done. What were your coronary arteries like at that time? Coronary artery disease is also a possible cause for heart failure. FYI , the type of heart failure you describe is not hfpef, rather it is hfref: heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. Your recovery will depend on your ability to stick to the treatment, your lifestyle, and the underlying cause. It is therefore impossible to predict. Thank you for sharing. I wish you a speedy recovery.

      @@DrKevinLowe They did do an angiogram and no blockages, they said it was non eschemic. And for most of my life I would get highly stressed and agitated, which drove my BP real high. But I never had any heart issues. Was physically active and never overweight. 5 5 at around 131. My cardiologist says I qualify for a defib pacemaker. But I figure the heart can only be shocked back so many times and it might make it worse. My next appt. Is in August. I stopped using sugar, bread, pasta. I very rarely ever drank milk, soda, junk food etc... Thank you Dr. Lowe

    Sudu science. I never seen a Dr. give me a blood test to see if my brain chemicals are low. LoL. I take 150 MG of welbutrin for the slight extra energy it gives me. Other then that, it never helped with depression.

    I have struggled with addiction since adolescence including a coke addiction. I started Wellbutrin 6 months ago for depression. It has helped me quit smoking cigarettes and reduced my coke cravings. I am now 6 months sober and cant remember the last time i had a drug craving. This drug literally saved my life my depression is under control and i am working with an addiction counselor to help maintain sobriety. I dont think i could have done it without this med.

      Congratulations on achieving and maintaining sobreity! I have seen patients struggle to achieve what you have done. Do not dismiss the role your own strength and resolve played in helping you reach your goal. Wellbutrin was just a tool you used to get there. Thank you for sharing with the community. I wish you continued success in the future.

    i take naproxen wth my gabapentin ive heard it helps with bioavalability .and stagger my dose, if i take 600 3 times a day i take 300 6 times

      Naproxen does, in fact, appear to increase the bioavailability of gabapentin. It is not , however, advisable to mix your medications without first consulting your prescribing provider. We also need to keep in mind the side effects of long-term NSAID therapy. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching.

    What would you suggest I ask for since permethrin has failed us so many times. I have even rented another home to stay and left my home after applying permethrin. I think my problem is having children in diapers still and I question if the cream remains on under the diapers. They do not like to prescribe ivermectin, but after your video is it even going to be effective? I’m cannot use the essential oil, I have dogs and they get sick every time I pull it out. I don’t know what to do anymore it’s been six months

      Hello, have you considered utilizing professional pest control services to decontaminate the home? The mites can live in bedding and furniture and that can give the appearance of resistance when, in fact, it is only reinfestation. The mite can only survive for 7 days off the skin of humans, so if you left the home for greater than 7 days, they would be eliminated. But, of course, all inhabitants would have to be treated as well before returning to the dwelling. All articles of clothing would have to bewashed in hot water as well. This is how I would start in tough situations like the one you describe. I hope you are successful. Thanks for watching.

    Dear Doctor Lowe, at the moment I am posting this response to your video where I still have to reach the end and re-absorb the full understanding of the information and treatment plan given to you for recovery and prevention of disastrous consequences. You are the only one who mentions a solution in all the videos I have watched in despair. why desperate do you wonder if you have read my response with the hope of a response to what will be the cause of what my brother is experiencing just 5 minutes ago for the umpteenth time he jumps out of bed and really recklessly as if he is in so much pain He screams so loud, I've never heard anyone scream so loud. indescribable and I have personally seen incidents where people fall from several meters during sports and both seriously break their arms. cannot be compared. he even once..., no, I corrected myself. a few times immediately like someone running down the stairs on fire, but one time was the worst of all those times. He had jumped out of bed and jumped down the stairs simply because he overlooked a few steps or rather didn't see them because of the event... while there are always lights on in the hallways... RUNNING AND THEN STRIPPING HE FELL DOWN... .. LUCKILY NOTHING HIT THEIR SKULL OR SIMILAR BODY PARTS.. ALMOST FATAL I WAS DEVASTED FROM A TIME I SAW HIM RUNNING DOWN JUST TOO LATE WITH THAT LOOK... THE LOOK IN THEIR EYES THAT I JUST COULD SEE AND THAT EXCESSIVE mother is sleeping downstairs so he ran towards her while I am her 1 year older brother. who sleeps next door to him and always jumps out of bed to catch him. and tell him that if I sleep, I will sleep immediately and be next to you, don't be afraid.. I don't know what he feels or what is going on in the bee's head.. I also sometimes hear it coming on as if he is choking or has a strange cough. What also really often happens is that he jumps out of bed but doesn't scream, I've already heard that and I'm with him so quickly, then he says no, it's nothing and he immediately falls into bed and goes to sleep. That's how quickly I respond to it. I'm really scared but I'm faithful, God is great. May God and only God, the only one who has the right to be worshiped, with no one beside him or parables quoted (shortly translated as 'Allah') protect and heal him 'Amin' so I should not accept fear but I am really concerned. ... and wake up I don't dare to sleep before 5am for 12 months now, but with love. I am a deep sleeper and everyone in the family except my mother, I am afraid if something happens that my mother will not be able to fully help him in an emergency due to panic. think of heart attack or cardiac arrest. and when I catch him at the door, I usually hug him immediately and make powerful protective quotes from the 'Koran' (the Koran's last given revelation from God where everything is, we have to act in such a whisper and then immediately become calm. My brother is also deaf. Became deaf after a minegitus infection. He often forgot because of what he experienced where I was that I could not sleep every night. I felt my chest and her heart rate was unbelievably fast and beats violently after he calms down in my hands, the rhythm and the beating calm down. My mother has noticed that he sometimes does not breathe for short periods of time in his sleep. The doctors examined him but said he has nothing and a healthy heart heart rhythm.... I am really desperate my dear brother who has lived a limited life since birth, but this calamity has always happened with a broad smile, can you tell me what you can say about this with the hope that you read this and can say it what you, WITH REALLY ONLY YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND SCIENCE. I am now going to watch the video again and purchase what you advise as an aid/rescue (you are the only one of all the 50 videos I have watched, but nowhere has anyone come up with or mentioned a healing aid) to be mentioned from the Netherlands. in case you were wondering, my brother 25

    • @DrKevinLowe
      @DrKevinLowe 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, I am sorry to hear about your brother's condition. Based on what I can glean from the account you have given, it sounds like those complaints may be related to his history of meningitis. Have you had an EEG done to rule out seizures? Only a thorough history and a full examination, including lab work and diagnostic testing, can provide insight into his condition. You may want to start with those. Hypoglycemic episodes can sometimes cause attacks like the ones you describe. I would also seek the services of a psychiatrist to rue out any underlying psychiatric components. I wish you the best. Thanks for watching. Thanks for sharing.
