This is basically what audience reactions were to the original book back in the 1960s. Dune Messiah will be a very rude awakening! But that’s why he decided to write it. Really great reaction, Naveed and Mansoor definitely appreciate really good filmmaking and everything that goes into that-the cinematography, the music, the acting, the sets, the effects 👍🏼
Yep, these guys are totally onboard with the Jihadi call for arms with Paul! 😅
It's wonderful to see reactions of none book readers, especially on films with much meta context.
Exactly. 🙂😬
@@wathsi99Holy war is good. God wills it 😊
@@wathsi99Yea, I read the books and I'm still on Paul side. I don't care what author said after he wrote the books. I think Paul way is the best way.
Pauls way was the only way, literally the "golden path".... but it will still lead to billions of deaths and universal suffering, and he knows this. "Charismatic leaders should come with warning labels."
It's so refreshing to see people who aren't jaded and buried in layers of irony appreciate something. Love to see it.
These two are the most genuine reactors on TH-cam
"The loving slap keeps the love alive" 😂 You guys are the best!
Frank Herbert who wrote the Dune novels wanted to say "charismatic leaders should come with a warning label"
Even Jesus had his alter ego, behind every great man, there´s a great shadow waiting
People still don't get it though!! Nearly a billion dollars on the whole franchise a whole new fan base and all we get is "wheeeee, Harkonnens fly and 'Oooooh' big bang on bad guys, worm so big!!"🤦🏽♂🤦🏽♂🤦🏽♂
Completely miss the point which is so much more poignant now than ever!!
@@renesandoval7876 💀 what are you yapping about? 🤣
@@SK4M_Frealyou can just watch films and turn your brain off though. It's fun. Just annoying when people do that and talk about the meaning/intention behind the story
@@ianmills6260 True, don't get me wrong, I'm not throwing any shade on the films.
"This loving slap keeps the love alive" hahahaha so good
2 things Paul said. “I will do what has to be done then” & “I will love you until my last breath”. Both these statements should be taken literally. He has not defaulted on either one yet.
Someone should send this to Denis Villeneuve I think he would be very happy to see how much these guys are enjoying his movie
Why can't I like this more than once!
Amazing gents. These guys got more out of this movie than some native speakers. Like, wow.
They respected and were so empathetic with Chani, and her and Paul's story.
They praised the music, the cinematography, they really *got* the essence of these films. Beautiful to see. I was smiling like an idiot the whole time, lol!
To clear up some confusion about the Bene Gesserit, Jessica, Paul and the Harkonnen: In the books the Bene Gesserit sisterhood maintains a breeding program in order to produce the Kwisatz Haderach that they can control. The sisters of the Bene Gesserit (they can only be women) normally do not know their parentage. Usually, they have mothers of the Bene Gesserit and fathers from one of the Great Houses. Jessica did not know her parentage, so it was a complete surprise when Paul told her that they were of Harkonnen blood. The Bene Gesserit (of which Jessica is one) are only supposed to bear daughters until it is time to bear the Kwisatz Haderach, however, Paul came early. Jessica was supposed to only have daughters, but because of her love for Leto Atreides, she bore him a son. Also, because she trained him in the ways of the Bene Gesserit, he became a danger to the Bene Gesserit because he was not under their control.
The Mahdi is too humble to say he's the Mahdi is very funny but also scary in the idea a hero/leader/religious figure gets to the point of fanaticism where they can't do any wrong.
It’s nabbed from Monty Python’s “Life of Brian.”
That's the whole point of Dune. Fanaticism is dangerous, even if the person people worship has the best on intentions. Fanaticism blinds people, just as it has blinded Stilgar in the end.
As Paul said, "they were friends once, now they are followers". One cannot feel "friendly" with a living god, gods exist to be adored.
I don't think Stilgar would have stopped even if Paul himself commanded it. People blinded by faith tend to see only what they want to see and hear what they want to hear. Javier is incredible in this role - we can laugh and meme about him all we want, but we also feel sorry for him because we see him falling from a wise leader of his people into a zealot.
Frank Herbert really leaded us to the Green Paradise with his books, I'm grateful to be alive to see Denis Villeneuve do the same in theaters. He must be the real Kwisatz Haderach without a doubt ♥️
I LOVE how much they love Chani 💜
every straight guy does
paul's speech and paul silencing the ben gesserit mother best scenes in the movie.
you are one of my favorite reaction chanel love you guys :D
very authentic people
All of the videos of what on reaction you were the only ones to pronounce the names correctly. Thank and im glad you enjoyed the movie/books
In the books the war Jihad...small correction
In the books the worm creat fire and glass as they move above ground
they were also one of the only ones who didn't understand how problematic it would be for Paul to lead a holy war/jihad, killing billions
Love their pronouncing. It‘s so rough on the ears hearing Lisan Al Gaib or Mahdi said in a heavy American accent 😭
@@MuadDib042Which is the case for most people up until this point. That‘s the reason Frank wrote Dune Messiah. I‘m sure the next movie will get the point across to all.
I do not remember if they explained it before, but lazguns, lasers, energy weapons, cause nuclear explosions for the shooter and the shield wearer when they hit. Thats why blades are used so much.
One thing that bothered me was it would make sense if it caused the shield wearer to blow up in a nuclear explosion, but not the shooter. Then again, im just looking at this from a logical standpoint, which i shouldn't. This was done by FH prolly so they could just go back to cool swords.
@@Irfan87yes! Also why don’t they ban lazguns entirely, they use lazguns and lasers indiscriminately in the movie, surprisingly no lasers hit anyone with a shield active, lol, that was that was hard to believe
@@Irfan87 actually in the book that is a thing and it's why you dont shoot lasers at a shield lol because both parties have a good chance of blowing up like a nuke. There was only two times in the first and second film they made this mistake otherwise they were spot on with it. They explain it obviously way more in the books but you are right, both parties would be screwed.
@@sprigganakira3538 when they were firing on Dune they didnt have shields on as the shields attract giant worms. They did fuck up twice though where a guy clearly had a shield on and was firing and being shot at with a lazgun lol.
@@kbob9625 your totally right,😁
Great review. My favorite parts in this movie are when Paul confronts the Fremen crowds and calls out the one fighter by talking about his grandmother. Also when Stilgar shouts “Lisan Al’Gaib!” When Paul wins the dual.
You make a person who does not watch subtitled film, read/watch all your reviews. Bravo my brothers keep up the great videos.
Naveed mocking Rabban is hilarious 😂 I love you guys 😆❤️
"May you bring greenery everywhere" Uuuh should we tell em? XD
I have just discovered this channel from the first dune reaction, and it amazes me that even though english does not seem to be their first langauge but out of so many reactors (whose first langauge is english) they seem to be one of the few reactors who actual follow along with the story, understand the characters and the environment and pick up on most of the minor details. Youse are amazing and have defiantely gained my sub
I'm pretty sure they are watching the Hindi dub of the movie (From what I can tell there's isn't a separate Urdu dub)
@sympotaz Its more interesting to watch their early reactions and then see them now. They have come a long way from piecing movies together trying to understand some of the themes and story. To just being your avg veteran movie watcher now.
I love how they treat the names as important and remember them immediately. I didn't peg down Feyd-Rotha's until the 2nd watch through.
From now on, I’m going to think of Feyd Rautha as the “Priest of Lust.” Lol
Does anyone know what language Naveed and Mansoor speak?
Pakistan speaks many languages. I’ve isolated two or three simple words from their discussions, but I still can’t pin it down.
I finally found something I can’t Google my way out of, lol.
They speak urdu language which is national language of our country
@@Cinephilesreact786 Thank you so much for confirming that!
When I was much younger I had a friend at school who was Pakistani (as well as two Persian friends) so I know that Urdu is the national language (I should have mentioned that, but I wanted to keep the post short). When I subscribed and started watching this channel I just assumed that they were speaking Urdu, but then I started hearing individual words that I recognized from other languages from neighboring countries. My school friend was from Karachi (now Islamabad) which would be “the big city” in American slang. Then I started wondering “well, since they are from an outlying rural village they might be speaking something other than Urdu - maybe Sindhi or Pashto.”
Now I realize that I’m just picking up on certain Persian/Arabic elements to the language and started second-guessing myself. (This channel has been my first opportunity to really hear the language.)
I also realize that Google translate seriously needs to step up their game when it comes to non-western languages! I knew just enough to get myself in trouble and Google translate did not help in figuring this out. I really got myself turned around in my attempt to explore this! Lol
Anyway, I LOVE this channel and I want to have more friends in my life like Mansoor and Naveed!
And their Dune reactions were PURE GOLD! It was delightful and refreshing to see a reaction from smart people who can more directly recognize and culturally connect to the numerous Middle Eastern elements that are baked into this literary masterpiece.
@@Cinephilesreact786 So im curious, and it may seem ignorant, because i know this movie uses Arabic in the language the fremen speak, but did these 2 understand anything that was being said, or catch words that sounded like something in their language?
@@Pr0x1moyou should check out this guy Aftan Reacts? I think. He is Afghani and Muslim I believe, and he was picking up on a lot of the Islamic references that Herbert put into his books.
Loved this movie so much I saw it twice. I’m glad they get to enjoy it as well!
You guys are absolutely the best
This is a Great Reaction , Subbed
Great movie, great reaction ! And in a few years, the 3 part, I can't wait !
I never read Dune, though my thought is, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Paul is a pawn of the Bene Gesserits, but will he still be their undoing. Have they become so corrupt that they cannot see their own future past the choice they have made, and ultimately, isn't that also the fate Paul is creating for himself.
This is pretty spot on, the writer of the books once said his inspiration for dune was wanting to write about how “charismatic leaders should come with a warning label: may be dangerous to your health”.
Yeah, close enough to the author's intentions.
At this point Paul is out of control of the BG. He came a generation too early for their plans.
@@RabbitShirak *PART 3 SPOILER ALERT*
You got it. Also the Golden Path that only Paul can see, keeps getting narrower with every choice he makes, leading to a situation in which he basically gives up and exiles himself to the desert. It's his son, Leto II, who's left to clear up the mess, and he has to be even more tyrannical than his father to do it.
@@apostatereacts isn't part of the reason why Paul couldn't pull off the Golden Path was because he wasn't (or thought he wasn't) capable of sacrificing his humanity? While Leto II's background makes it easier for him to do and even then Leto's close to a breaking point at times.
Every reaction I’ve seen people go nuts cheering for Paul’s speech to the Fremen, shows how well Villenue and Chalamet portrayed a charismatic leader
I loved this reaction video! You guys are amazing.....❤
I am grateful to you from the bottom of my heart. Your reaction is the best I've seen. I do not know who you are, what country you are from, but your reaction is the best I have seen. I come from Russia and I felt every emotion of yours for myself, as I felt it myself. God bless you.
I do not know for sure, but according to my feelings, the theme of this film was close to you and your reaction is a priori the best possible. I love all nations, so your wonderful reaction for me was like sweetness with tea.
Interesting fact: Sarrducar song was taken from the Altai tribe from Russia. You can Google "Altai Throat Singing" and hear similar singing in real life. Some were empty and were also taken from Russia (Sorry for bragging)))
They obviously didn't get the deeper meaning of the film but I'm happy they enjoyed it either way.
The movie is designed to sweep you up in the Fremen’s fervor and make you *experience* what it is to succumb to a charismatic leader. It’s okay to root for Paul when you watch
@@kg30004 it's obviously okay to support Paul because it's a movie but the film does its best to make you doubt your support for him.
@@kg30004 Why would you NOT root for Paul?
What is wrong with you people?
@@theredeemer1644because billions will die because of his decisions and the fremen are now blood thirsty lunatics
@@theredeemer1644 He is sacrificing the Fremen to some stupid Holy War. They will kill billions, sterilizing several planets in the process. A fact he knew since the tent scene in the first movie. If Paul just died before meeting the Fremen, the universe would have been a better place. He knew, yet choose meaningless personal goals like the revenge for his father.
We'll see the consequences of his selfishness in the 3rd movie.
I loved watching you two enjoy this movie! 👏
A proper one hour reaction.
The movie history of Dune. There is Dune 1984, the first movie made. In 2000 they remade Dune tv mini series, followed by Children of Dune, both have 3 movies each. Now we have the 2 remake movies you recently watched. I believe there will be a Dune 3 and I think it will introduce Paul's children as well as his sister.
It is so sweet how in love with Chani these guys are.
"LONG LIVE THE FIGHTERS!!!" gives me goosebumps every time. Tim killed it as Paul 💯
These gentlemen are awesome. I think I like the movies even better after watching this 😂
I wasn't sure about Zendaya as an actress before Dune 2, but she nailed conveying the horror that Paul becomes.
These dudes totally get it. Would watch any movie with them.
The third film will probably be coming out in two years or more. It will be based on the second book, Dune Messiah. The book takes place 12 years after Dune, but might the movie might take place much later. There are a few reasons for this that are because the movies changed a few things-
- Paul's sister, Alia. She is born during the first book, and grows to be about 2 or 3 years old, but she is a full Reverend Mother at birth because Jessica took The Water of Life. The actress who played Alia in the vision, Anya Taylor Joy is 28, so if she is playing Alia in the third movie it will need to take place much later, like 20 ior more years later.
- Chani was never against Paul becoming the Mahdi, the Lisan al-Gaib. She believed in Paul in the book, and was partially trained in the Bene Gesseritt ways to become Sayyadina (Friend of God), a wise woman in Sietch Tabr. When Paul takes Irulan as his wife in the book, Paul tells Chani it is in name only. Irulan will have no warmth, no love, no child of Paul's...nothing. Chani is comforted by Jessica in the last lines of the novel, saying that "we who bear the name of concubine, history will call us wives." How Chani will come back to Paul will be interesting to see.
- I stated it in the last reaction...Paul is not a hero. At all! But...that's the story of Dune Messiah...
"Paul is not a hero"
Son, you lost the plot badly.
Who is then? the Harkonnens? The emperor? pfff
Damn their reactions even with subs are crazy accurate to what people who don't know more from the story would also see
Watching the both of you react makes me feel so many emotions. You’re so genuine and I feel what ur feeling. Great reaction
My first reaction watching here, love the guys already :D Can someone tell me where they are from? :)
It surprises me how many American/Euro reactors totally missed that Paul married the princess for political reasons, but didn't take them any time at all!
.Maybe bc we saw the sexism in y'all tought that chani should accept it and that Paul can have multiple wife!
@@laurine____7543 I mean, as is made clear in the books, "nobles marry for politics but have a real lover" is the standard culture for them, but not for the Fremen. The same way a lot of people were confused by Leto's "I should have married you" line to Jessica in Pt 1. Not endorsing it, but so many people say things like "but I thought he loved Chani??" and it's like... yes, in his noble world this is how it works.
Not saying it's a GOOD system or culture, but many missed that it was the system/culture at all
Its interesting that they caught that but totally missed the whole "holy war killing billions" being a bad thing
Except that these two also ENTIRELY missed the whole “don’t fall for extremism or messiahs” message. 🤦🏻
@@masamune2984 my point is not "oh they understood it perfectly," my only point was that specific understanding about Chani and the princess
Great video love seeing my excitement level matched ❤
i recommend reading the book its been translated into 20 languages so its possible its in one you can read.
Dune has been translated into Urdu
@@8paradoxfuldamn, that’s cool. I think it’s sometimes interesting how in translations they have to find that particular languages metaphors because a one to one translation doesn’t keep the meaning

Of course Jessica is scary. Show me a mother (let alone one as powerful and dangerous SHE is) that WOULDN'T be.
What's really sad..? None of them had a choice. It was do or die.

Oh bs. After the water of life, Jessica was no longer Paul’s mother or doing anything for his benefit.
I felt the same way in the theater.
Thank you, thank you. This was the reaction I was hoping for, and you gentlemen delivered.
I love that they recognise that his father was certainly not a weak man. He was a great man who clearly loved his people and his family and showed the responsible way to live by example. I have heard a lot of people agree with the emperor, and I disagree.

Funny to see how they are the kind of people that would fall for paul. when he made his speech in 47:00 they said chani was mad because she loves him. Nope she was mad because the original author said that paul is not a hero but an anti hero who uses faith to exact revenge. The blind faith caused wars, and religious conflicts and it works because a great speech and a chanting mass can make you feel great and cause you to not think about the consequences of following 1 person without opposition. Nice to see they fell for paul ;) Shows movies like this are important to show the masses that dictatorships are not startet by brutal force but 90% of the time by clapping masses that think they have found their messiah

@lyssalovesit exactly, a lot or reactors have been completely down with Paul.
Enjoyed the reaction, even if they did fall for the trap of the entire point of the books/films, which is a warning to NOT fall for messiahs/extremism, as it only leads to the death of all (to massively simplify it.) You don’t need to wait for “Messiah” to understand that, but so many people still somehow miss it.

2 fremen reacting to dune
Bro 💀💀💀
Loved your reactions. You definitely followed along better than many English speakers. However, its unfortunate that you misunderstood Chani's resistance to the prophesy and Paul's reluctance to take it on. Chani knows that the religion was created by the Bene Gesserit to control people, but people like Stilgar are too invested to see past that. And Paul fears taking on the role of messiah not only because he agrees with Chani, but he knows it will lead to a holy war/jihad that will kill billions of innocent people. The only reason Paul accepts his fate is because he knows that if he doesn't go through with it, the Fremen will loose the war and he and Chani are likely to die. Paul chooses to kill billions of people to get revenge and save his skin
In the novel, Chani is much stronger. She understands the politics completely and believes in Paul as messiah.
I wouldn't say she's "stronger". Chani from the book may feel something is wrong, but she trusts Paul. Chani from the film acts like his counterweight, his... "conscience"?
He cannot show weakness. But she experiences it for both of them. In a way, it's her box of pain.
