Per the magazine issue: I just talked with Sig. The magazines that ship with the X-carry are the new duty magazines. They have thinner "wings" and the square removal notch as shown in this video. The CS rep I spoke with stated these new mags will replace the older style as the new standard and will obviously work in the X-carry. He also stated at this time stand alone base plates are not available to upgrade old mags but mentioned Springer precision aluminum base pads as also working in the X-carry.
Do not order for your X-Carry, it just won't fit. I did it and it did not work so I bought some X-grip Adapters to fit the 17 rounds to my regular p320 compact.
Can you put the x-series trigger group in the compact frame you have there? I would love to use the x-carry slide and trigger group with the compact frame.
It’s a great all around pistol th-cam.com/users/postUgkxnX9wE_Q8zvF75Y5iWzTU3Q4FlrtyGApQ , doesn’t fit in plastic glock 19 holsters but will fit in some non plastic ones. The location of the safety isn’t very good because your finger will accidentally activate it but it can easily be removed by pulling on both sides at once. Don’t lose the red o-rings while doing that.
Hola amigo, tengo una p320 X Compact que estoy portando todos los dias hace aproximadamente un año, y solo me esta dando satisfaciones, es la primer SIG SAUER que compro, siempre tuve GlOCK y realmente las recomiendo. Man this is a great table top review of the Sig p320 XCarry. Thank you for this. I have this pistol coming and this review really helped me get a better understanding of this pistol. I am mostly familiar with h&k’s so this will be my first Sig. again, great review.
I just got my P320 X-Carry and ordered the Blade Tech holster from Sig's website. It was on sale, so I saved a few dollars too! I'm really happy with the pistol. It's so effortless to shoot. That trigger is a dream!
This is a really good review. You did a great job covering numerous bullet points that people look for when they're considering a firearm. I haven't looked yet to see if you have other reviews, but if not, you should do more.
I just pick up my p320 x carry 2 weeks ago, and had to send it back to Sig Sauer for warranty work. The striker was not striking the primer in the center, but rather in conner causing failure to fire several time. Also the pistol was failing going into battery. Brand New! Pistol
Just got my pistol back from Sig Sauer. They replace the slide, this proves that my slide was bad from the factory. It did fix the problem and the pistol is running 100% . I guess The quality on Sig Suers these days is more of hit and missed as they rush production to get the pistol out to the market. My brother just purchased the same pistol and is flawless no problems at all.
Really good job on the review... Thanks. Just got the email yesterday about my X Carry being received from SIG (by Sportmans Outdoor Superstore). I guess all the waiting (9 months) will now pay off!
After putting 1000 rounds in 2 days through my xcarry its running flawless. Had minor feeding and not going into battery issues through the first 100 or so. This is a very tight gun from the factory so you have to shoot the shit out of it initially. My second day of 500 not one malfunction. The slide is pretenssioned and tight which if you lightly pull back on the slide and let go it wont go into battery unless you tap it. So if you do press checks you will have to tap the rear. This is not a design flaw and the tightnes aids in its accuracy. No problems going into battery while shooting once broken in
Excellent, thorough review and comparison...thanks for taking the time to point out all of the differences and notes! I guess that SIG has taken a page from Les Baer in shipping pistols in an oil bath ... perhaps to force the new owner to clean it before first use? ;-)
Hello, nice video.. the Danish Military just decided to buy the Sig Sauer P320 X-Carry and get rid of the old Sig P210.. finally ;) so nice info on the gun, looking forward to try it :)
I like the P320 platform, but I can't for the life of me figure out why all these manufacturers are naming models "carry" and putting a full size grip on them. For carry, I would think everyone would agree we want a shorter grip. Your video does cover this, just my $0.02
Christophe you dress around your gun! There are days I Carry my Sig emperor Scorpion 5” tactical model an no one even notices it! That’s one thing I teach in class as well! More rounds are always better in a gun fight! Anyone can hit a standing target, but moving is totally different! Good luck!
Carry for law enforcement/military. Open carry for example. There is the compact model though which has a slightly shorter barrel and a 15 round grip. Imagine the Sig P320 Sub Compact slide on a compact frame.
Thanks for the great video. I'm new to Sig, but interested in the X-Carry. This week, I rented a regular P320 at the range, and liked it. Unfortunately, no range or shops anywhere near me have an X-Carry, to even see in-person. Some reviews and TH-cam videos say that the X-Carry grip is uncomfortable, compared to the standard P320. They also mention that the beaver tail is too large and uncomfortable to carry concealed. After having the X-Carry for a while now, do you agree with either of these opinions?
Phil Coolberth: I will try to remember to do a comparison at the range. I just put it next to a Glock 17 and it is near identical in grip length.. might be just a hair longer. I think the grip looks massive because the slide is short.
I just picked up the P320 x-carry and I have had nothing but issues. First 220 rounds it ate all the self defense ammo (20 rounds) but had multiple failures to extract with practice fmj rounds. After about 120 total rounds or so that cleaned up and ran well.. I took it home and cleaned it..my second range trip another 120 rounds....this time the gun had multiple light primer strikes....about 12 rounds. I thought it maybe the ammo so I ran those 12 rounds through a Glock 19 and they fired. Also when you eject the mag and try to get that last round out the chamber I had to pull with the force of a tug of war the get that round to eject...I just sent it back to Sig so we will see what happens. If the gun ran it would be a great gun....very accurate and fun to shoot gun....I just need it to work....right now the only two pistols I trust 100% are my Sig P226 Legion and Glock 19
I just purchased a second p320 and it already comes with the upgrade. If your looking to buy one now make sure you ask the store because some sellers still have the older models for same price and they dont say anything unless you ask them (Very Sneaky) Especially the ones selling in its $400s My born date is April 2018.
After 200 rounds I still was having issues with the slide not going in the battery. After three or four rounds the trigger would stop working and I would have to push the slide forward. I also purchased the Romeo 1 for this pistol, and had issues with that as well. Saw some posts with people having the same problem which was not being able to dial down the dot enough. I’m sure Sig will get it fixed but was just disappointed after such a long wait to have a send the gun back. I still haven’t got my P320 back from the trigger upgrade.
Cosmetically, the Sig looks bad ass! Personally, I️ carry an HK USP 9mm. My back up is a Sig p238 and I️ love it. I️ might have to buy one of new Sigs!
J, Great review, looking forward to the shooting portion. A couple of things I'd thought I'd ask. First, can you take a close look at the sear on both the x-carry and the standard (post upgrade) because I'm looking at them side by side and I swear there is a difference. Second, I see people asking about the battery issue and according to what I have seen / heard, that is as you state a deliberate result of what Sig calls "pretension" that only exists in the X series 320's. Keep up the good work !
Dylan Poulin: it will not fit anything but a Romeo 1 as-is. That said, Springer precision makes adapter plates for the P 320 x-five in just about every optic available. I will probably get one for the RMR and see if it works on the X-carry as well.
well danish militery bought it as new standard pistol. i think they finaly made a good disision. even if i have no experience with it. but in tan. with different grips depending on the one carrying it. and 2x mags. and a hulster with a "strap"
I found that very interesting that they went with the X-Carry over the standard P320. It's a better gun in my experience, but obviously comes with a cost. To them the benefits must have outweighed the cost.
@@jhelmsing well i dont know the cost benifit. on it. or cost at all.. but the old one was a relic.. heres a small danish vid on it. th-cam.com/video/Bb5Y1iaRSOM/w-d-xo.html i figured the would go wiht glock. but seems not.
pretty sure the slide uses the "Legion" finish. I have an X-Five (P226) and wish they had a "prettier" version of the 320 from the factory so I could have a set. I wish the plate matched better on the slide.
Dave Prather: inbound. I've had some range time with it and I'll put it this way: I just sold a Glock 19. Full review once I've put some more metal through it.
I'm picking up a new Sig P320X CARRY on 1/22, 2018, what brand holster would you recommend, you said the black fiber holster you showed works for the p320x carry, is that a Vedder? I need to get a good IWB holster soon.. no one at this time list a P320X CARRY, so if the reg. compact /carry works then I'll be good to go, thanks for the great review, I really appreciate how you went into detail and covered everything I was wondering about...
What online retail do you recommend to buy the Sig P320 X carry? All my local stores in town are out and they will not have them available in-store, how do you purchase it online?
Is that why they stopped making the reg p320 I like the x carry but I don’t like the hole in the top of the slide (I’m weird) lol I lose enough change in my couch but I do want another p320 but they are impossible to come across
Notice guys with Small hands. Bought my xcarry went to the range and was all over the place pulling left usually. Tried my small p320 compact module on the xcarry slide still same problem. It wasnt the grip. Dropped in the apex flat trigger and problem solved. The reach is just a little longer with the factory and it starts out thick up high and thins out down low. The appex is the same thin thickness throughout. Now my only grip is why they intergrated the rear sight to tge plate? Dont they now the first thing most people do is change sights? I want my TRIJICON HD'S. these sights aren't bad but they are not as good and the green dot does not stand out the way my orange HD's do
I should also add, I'm a pretty lazy reloader and that rig there is more or less a one-hit wonder. I use around 5 gr. of Unique under Xtreme 115 gr. 9mm plated bullets and crank them out by the thousands. Sometimes I switch to other plated or coated bullets but none seem to feed as well as Xtreme or Berry's. I don't typically use jacketed bullets because I shoot a lot of steel.
The same was said about the Glock 34, but in reality while theoretically possible, I don't think it's proven to be a significant problem (also see the Beretta M9) Sig also offers the X-CARRY pro series which doesn't have the window in the slide.
I don’t know if you answered this - but can you move the xcarry upper to the regular carry frame - can’t think of a reason to do it but my wife has tiny hands and I don’t think they make a small in the xcarry?
What would you choose if you had to pick between your S&W 2.0 4.25" or the Sig P320 X Carry? I'm on the fence with both. Im going to use for home defense.
Good vid !!! I traded my Sig x-carry for the Glock 19 Gen 5 mos fs !!!! I had a issue with the x-carry not going into battery sent it back to Sig they advised couldn’t find any issues when I got weapon back still wasn’t going into battery unless you slammed it, just wasn’t pleased with it so it had to GO !!!
Does the xcarry have different grip sizes like the p320 (ie: large, medium, or small)? If not how does it compare to the small size grip on the compact p320? I have small hands and love the small grip.
I have a question, and you seem to be very knowledgeable about sigs. I'm really considering a 320 compact, but I have a couple questions. Would you recommend one over a glock 19? Also, If I bought the x carry frame to put on my compact, would I still be able to use the same holsters as with the compact?
In my experience, many holsters that fit the compact will fit the X-Carry frame, especially if it has adjustable tension. Would I recommend one over the Glock 19? I see them as equals. I've not had any issues out of the newer P320, and I think the bugs are largely gone. The 320 C is a tad more bulky but possibly more ergonomic. The Glock has a lower bore axis, but both are nearly as controllable with the edge going to the 19. I'd say if it fits your hand, budget and preference you can't go wrong with either.
Can you please check to see if you have slide movement as you press the trigger? I have an issue with my sig p320 carry. I sent it back to Sig and the stated it was normal. I didn't see any slide movement in your video. Again my issue with my p320 is when pressing the trigger the rear sight dips down then pops back up after the trigger is pressed.
RomanTech I have seen that regularly on my normal P320's. The moves up slightly upon trigger pull in the rear as the striker is released. That said, my X-carry is so tight it does not rebound at a when the trigger is pulled. I'm curious if yours is a drop upgraded one or not. I've only noticed it on the non drop fixed ones.
Hi J . I am close to buying this 320 x carry . I keep hearing the Sig videos talking about ' Pretension " on the X Carry and X5 . Do you know what that means ??? I can't find the answer any where . Hope you can help me with this . 🤔
It has to do with the lockup and timing design on the X-series barrels. That whole hiccup with the X series not sliding immediately into battery after manipulations. I've never known it to be an issue under actual firing conditions and the barrels lock up very tight.
@@jhelmsing Thanks buddy that has been the only negative that I heard . I appreciate your response 👍 . It is not a cheap purchase , so I am doing my homework . I live in Massachusetts and we have a strict list . So our gun choices are limited .
I finally received mine. Did u notice that after the firearm is loaded w/one in the chamber, the slide doesn't want to eject that round when trying to rack the slide?
El Mclovin they've been hitting GunBroker intermittently, but are now starting to roll out in larger batches. I predict they will be a big success but Sig will have it's hands full with the M17 contract as well.
If you already got the 320, just buy a x frame for $40 and a decent trigger and your good!!! To go without having to buy a whole other gun, this why Sig blows everyone away, won't be long before others play follow the leader!!
Does the P320 Compact slide go on the X Carry frame? Asking cause I have the standard P320 Compact and am looking at buying just the X Carry frame. Thanks
This is a carry pistol that has the ability to mount a Red dot but doing so you lose your iron sights? I understand you don't need irons when your in competition, which is what the X-Five is for but for carry you canT rely solely on a red dot.The other p320 RX have the ability for back up irons. They missed the mark on making the best carry gun out there.
Not that I don't agree it is a shortcoming, but the Romeo1 has a built in rear notch. It's not the best, but it's there. FWIW, they apparently felt it wasn't entirely adequate enough on the RX models however as those have supressor height cowitness rear sights in addition. I am going to be experimenting with carrying a R1 equipped version of the X-Carry with a taller (.235) cowitness front sight to see if I have any issues in an EDC situation. I had a RMR mounted on mine for a time and carried it, but you have zero cowitness capability with that set-up due to the rear notch issue mentioned.
Two minutes each with a dremel drum sander and the regular 17 round mags now work fine in my VTAC-X.
BBP0808 I'm about to grind my wings off as well.
broncos2763 I can vouch for these. I ordered two and both work!
Can you put the x-series trigger group in the compact frame you have there? I would love to use the x-carry slide and trigger group with the compact frame.

Don’t lose the red o-rings while doing that.
My x carry is flawless out the box. 2300 rounds so far 0 issues
Did u use different kinds of hallowpoints including Honardy ?
Just traded my FNS-9c for used P320 XCarry and love it. The grip is much more comfortable. Thanks for the review J!

If anything is longer, definately the barrel. My two cents.
I agree with ya though. Longer grip= harder to conceal, especially appendix carry.

Adapt a Dillon powder measure to your Hornady auto progressive press and you'll love it.
+Butch Nowak thanks for the tip! Better than the Hornady powder drop?
I should also add, I'm a pretty lazy reloader and that rig there is more or less a one-hit wonder. I use around 5 gr. of Unique under Xtreme 115 gr. 9mm plated bullets and crank them out by the thousands. Sometimes I switch to other plated or coated bullets but none seem to feed as well as Xtreme or Berry's. I don't typically use jacketed bullets because I shoot a lot of steel.
Have you looked at the X Compact yet?
What's the best Owb holsters for this gun maybe even ALS holsters?
I am concerned about the cut out on top of the slide. Would that present an issue with water, dirt and other foreign bodies entering the gun???
The same was said about the Glock 34, but in reality while theoretically possible, I don't think it's proven to be a significant problem (also see the Beretta M9) Sig also offers the X-CARRY pro series which doesn't have the window in the slide.
I don’t know if you answered this - but can you move the xcarry upper to the regular carry frame - can’t think of a reason to do it but my wife has tiny hands and I don’t think they make a small in the xcarry?
Yes you can, I've done it before to use a compact frame.
What would you choose if you had to pick between your S&W 2.0 4.25" or the Sig P320 X Carry? I'm on the fence with both. Im going to use for home defense.
Thanks for the info on the holster.
Glocks are reliable .
Do the x-series grip modules fit in Safariland holsters for standard P320s?
My P320 Carry is just as tight as your X-Carry. Good review
Do they make a flared maxwell for it ? Sweet
Does the xcarry have different grip sizes like the p320 (ie: large, medium, or small)? If not how does it compare to the small size grip on the compact p320? I have small hands and love the small grip.
looking at getting the 320 compact or the 320 x carry.. is the x carry worth the extra money
If the trigger upgrade is done before it leaves the factory it is still curved and not straight 3 of mine are that way.
What was the brand of holster "the black one" you showed?
It's a Savage industries holster.
My xfive was drenched as well. It was like you said almost a greasy material.
I finally received mine. Did u notice that after the firearm is loaded w/one in the chamber, the slide doesn't want to eject that round when trying to rack the slide?
+Cliff Lee: mine has ejected fine when unloading. I'd see what happens during live fire and if it clears up any.
J Helmsing Mine did the same thing. It’s only because it needs broken in
Where did you purchase this?!? Been patiently waiting fo release
El Mclovin they've been hitting GunBroker intermittently, but are now starting to roll out in larger batches. I predict they will be a big success but Sig will have it's hands full with the M17 contract as well.
Can you take the slide from the x carry and put it on the original p320 grip module? And vice versa? And operate that way?
+It's Kyuu yes, it's completely modular.
which holster ls that J?
If you already got the 320, just buy a x frame for $40 and a decent trigger and your good!!! To go without having to buy a whole other gun, this why Sig blows everyone away, won't be long before others play follow the leader!!
Does the P320 Compact slide go on the X Carry frame?
Asking cause I have the standard P320 Compact and am looking at buying just the X Carry frame. Thanks
+Chris Imes it does.
J Helmsing can i put the x carry frame on my p320 compact fcu
Are the FCU’s swappable between the regular compact and x carry?
+Mark Hsu: yes. They are the exact same.
I’d like to buy an x carry but I live in Hawaii and can only have 10 round mags. Is it possible to get 10 round mags for the x carry?
Yes
Have you seen the x carry without the lightning cut out?
It also has a loaded chamber indicator on the top also like the x compact
How about the slides are they interchangeable with grips
+Chris Grignon Yes. Just put a compact standard P320 grip on mine today for concealment.
Which do you prefer 320 x Carry ,or your 229 legion?
My legion shoots low to the left about 1.5 inches. Not to impressed!
X-Carry
why is there a department crest/shield on the top of the slide on the regular sig p320?
+Dylan Watkins: because it's a department-issued gun.
J Helmsing so that's your duty gun?
+Dylan Watkins: It is one of them. We have both compact and full size issued.
J Helmsing oh that's cool well stay safe out their
+Dylan Watkins: thank you!
Hi j...if u could have one hkvp9 or sig xcarry..dont have the privilege of shooting either would appreciate your experoience.
X carry
@@jhelmsing thank you..keep up great work
Does the 21 round p320 mag fit the x carry frame?
The X-FIVE specific one with the tapered mag floorplate does.
X carry is my fav gun I own
That half in half out battery of the slide is called pretension
Barrel pretension more precisely
Great review! Thank you!
Are you planning on mounting a Romeo 1 red dot on it?
Kyle Ruby: planning on it? No. That said I've got an RMR that is unmounted right now speaking softly to me...
which kydex company fit better?
007bondson1: the carbon fiber one is a Savage holster company holster for a p320 compact.
Good detail review 👍👍
Are these already upgraded with the drop safety changes when you get these?
Zombie Killer: mine was.
I'm a detective was thinking of carrying a X carry least want ALS holster
I'd think safariland would have something that would work. I run my x-framed full-size p320 in a standard 320 SLS/als holster
@@jhelmsing ok thanks so X carry will fit in any 320 holster pretty much ?
@@tacticalbt1023 I can't guarantee that, but they will be very close even if you have to modify it slightly.
@@jhelmsing right ok hoping they make holster molded for the x carry sure they will like perfect fit 100%
Well done review. Subbed. 👍
Good video man
+King Flippin Ryan: thank you!
