      I do think it's important to encourage people to be healthy, but there are definitely a lot of people that take it way way too far and encourage an unhealthy body in the opposite direction.
      I can understand her mother being concerned seeing her daughter gaining weight (especially if she has a mental condition that affects her self-control), but those comments from viewers are downright appalling and those people don't deserve to live on this planet and consume resources that could go to actually decent people.

    • @michag4337
      @michag4337 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      There's a difference between obese and thicc. Nothing wrong with being soft, but it's not good to promote an image that is detrimental to someone's health. She's still well within a healthy weight range, if she added another 40~ pounds you'd probably being hearing people chime in about health issues, which are legit. Why people get upset when the people around them clearly want what's best for them I'll never know, but telling someone who is severely overweight that they need to lose weight is no worse than telling a coke addict they need to quit coke. Both are behaviors that will shorten your life as well as greatly diminish the quality of your life.
      You don't have to be a size 6 or whatever, just be healthy enough that basic things in life are challenges for you (if you struggle going up a flight of stairs, probably time to address priorities.

    What you don’t realize is, even if you lost the respect of the fitness side by going all in and gaining weight to fix your health, you gained an incredible amount of support from the eating disorder community. Even though you are different than us, you still had the same symptoms we have: extreme hunger, fear of gaining weight, amenorrhea, 24/7 food fixations, and a damaged metabolism.
    I’m sure watching your journey has helped countless of sufferers into venturing out of their comfort zone and aiming towards recovery. 💜💚

    • @pinkrainbow1
      @pinkrainbow1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +115

      That's the thing though .. She DID/DOES have an eating disorder. Even though she called it "Extreme hunger" it is an ED. She described feeling full but still wanting to eat and eat and eat and that is called bulimia. Could be exercise bulimia or just overeating bulimia. She also had anorexia where she was afraid to eat, gain weight and had amenorrhea.

    • @BeeBeeMacGee
      @BeeBeeMacGee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +269

      Pink Rainbow no, she has disordered eating. She didn’t feel guilty for eating in excess and compensate by purging through exercise. Eating disorders and disordered eating are two completely different things. Unless using food as a coping mechanism, it’s not a diagnosable eating disorder.

      Pink Rainbow regardless or whether she had one or not, it’s not your job nor is it appropriate for you to diagnose her. Steph has been so open and honest through her journey and many people have claimed she had an ED, so don’t you think she would have talked about that by now?

My hunger was really extreme in the begining (I'm talking about 10-12 000 calories a day) becuase I lost half of my body weight during my ed. My hunger is normalizing, I eat between 2000-4000 calories a day and I love my body. Yes I did gain weight. Her weight however could have been over that mark, without being overweight, because she still had a lot of muscle mass. Also, there are new studies that show that women who are slightly overweight live longer. Has something to do with hormones.
      It is not as if she had a normal body beforehand and then gained 10 kg. She hardly had any fat on her body, which can be very unhealthy, as has been seen in her case.

    It’s very tough, I’m not gonna lie. I’m breaking down daily atm and hit my highest weight yesterday.
    As someone who was obese as a teen it’s extremely difficult to watch myself look similar to how I was back then.
    And at least you had a loving and supportive boyfriend, which is nice; while I really feel fully alone in this as my mum is judging me too and voicing all my thoughts…

      I just want you to know- when I was recovering from my eating disorder a few years ago, I also did it all by myself. No boyfriend, no support from a therapist or family/friends. In all honesty, I was too ashamed to talk about it. I felt like no one would understand. I ended up gaining 60 pounds in 6 months and weighing the most I've ever weighed in my life. It took a few months before my weight slowly started coming back down, and believe me, it was slow!! I felt so unhappy, like I had failed and I was going to be overweight and miserable forever. The biggest thing that changed my life was finding a good therapist and writing in my journal every week. Sometimes I would read my (very disturbing) journal entries to my therapist and we would break down the distortions. If you afford it, I highly recommend seeking out a good therapist who will understand what you're going through. You can get through this, and it's absolutely worth it! I've maintained a very healthy weight for a couple years now and I haven't binged or restricted once. I wish you the best : )

It's the most uncontrollable hunger I have ever felt in my life. I was restricting and not eating anywhere near enough! It’s like your body forces you to start eating like crazy to catch up. It took me a year for the "empty pit" feeling to go away after I stopped restricting, working out like crazy, and started eating a lot. I had a lot of bloating issues too just because I am tiny and I was eating like crazyy to satisfy my hunger. But that went away after about a year too. Now I still eat a lot more than normal but my appetite has definitly stabilized more and I no longer feel like im constantly starving! This is why its not good to be exteme with anything. First I wanted to try eating a few hundred calories more but mostly clean. But then I found her and her interview with dr. rinaldi I went "all in" with all foods I wanted to eat... a lot of "healthy" (tons of porridge, sweet potatoe, avocado and olive oil..) also not so "clean" foods (chocolate and a lot of pasta, butter and toast) and this was the best decision.
      Today my hunger cues are most of the time "normal" I eat 2500 to 3000 calories every day now and want to continue because my hunger is still a good amount higher than from others but for me it's the lowest hunger I've ever experienced since beginning with this journey.. I think stephanies experience and dr. rinaldis advice is helping a lot of women and even men... I don't know what I would do without stephanie.. ❤️

      Bella Clemencio Nah girl...that's bad advice. Every girl definitely does NOT need a yes-man in her life telling her a 10,000 calorie binge is okay, when she clearly has an eating disorder. I believe that would fit the definition of "enabler", hence, an unhealthy relationship.

    It really saddens me that eating disorders/disordered eating are so normalized in the bodybuilding community. When competing you have to be incredibly restrictive and essentially have to starve to become lean enough to compete and it's impossible to maintain, not to mention how taxing it is on the body and mind. (At least that's my own personal experience and I'm so glad I've recovered). Your story has inspired so many! Thank you for sharing this incredible journey with us!

    • @pinkrainbow1
      @pinkrainbow1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes exactly, she had an eating disorder and she's calling it something different pretending that it's not an ED. There is no such thing as extreme hunger. It's called eating disorder when you eat and eat and eat and still want to eat even after you feel full which is exactly how she described it.

    • @JuliaJiggs
      @JuliaJiggs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@pinkrainbow1 She wanted to "eat and eat" because she was never fully satiated. She only stated she felt like she COULD eat more even after being really bloated because, again, she was never really full.

    • @BeeBeeMacGee
      @BeeBeeMacGee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Pink Rainbow she has disordered eating, not an eating disorder. You can not diagnose someone over the Internet, especially if you’re not a trained therapist. An eating disorder is only diagnosable if you’re using it as a coping mechanism.

    It’s so sad how body image really affects us. I can’t imagine having an entire platform of people watching my entire journey, especially one like this. I think Stephanie is really strong, brave, and just an all around good person. Honestly those people online who made fun and called her names are just negative, insecure people who have some sort of deep seated hatred within themselves.

    • @VictorYTMusic811

      I'm honestly disappointed in steph for letting it bother her so much... I've always respected her because she wasn't just a stereotypical "fit chick" with no credentials but ever since the all in journey, seems like all her posts are either whining about how she looks, or loving the way she looks.
      She made it very clear at the start that the goal was just to be healthier but it seems like now, she's just focused on looking good like most other fitness "influencers"
      Basically what I'm saying is she's drifted away from health above all else by constantly letting the way she perceives her looks to affect whether or not she wanted to continue with a healthy process.

The difference is my journey started out with me at 515 lbs. I'm just 2 weeks shy of a full year now, and I've lost 135 lbs. I still have a long way to go, and I know my journey is so different than this one, but I feel like the overall goals and emotions involved are pretty similar. I feel connected to your story in many ways: always had a voracious appetite; loved food; was a ballet dancer for the entirety of my childhood and teen years. Always the pressure, right? But I could slam like a dozen full size peanut butter cookies and show up for class. Okay, then in my mid-20s after I had a baby, I started these body goals/weight loss & fitness goals. I went from a size 8 to a size 00. I started my PhD program. I was was working part time. Life was insane. It was my way to deal. And I felt good about myself, but also terrified about gaining weight. And always cold. Always hungry. Always thinking about food. I was never much on social media and obviously have zero followers, but for whatever reason, I just got tired of it, and wanted to be happier. I wanted to eat. I didn't want to feel awful if I hadn't gone to the gym or eaten more than 1000 calories a day. All said and done, I probably weight about 15 - 20 pounds more today, don't fit into many of the clothes I wore, and am so happy with myself. I am happy. You seem incredibly happy too. Thank you.

      Naomi Nguyen I don’t recall where she said “everyone needs to do this!!” She was sharing her story and what did in fact WORK for her.

      Eleni Kondos she doesn’t need to tell everyone to go all in. She has a platform and she’s manipulating her image to support her disordered eating.
      She should also make a discretion before all her 10k calorie videos saying that she did in fact restrict for them and she doesn’t just eat 10k without gaining weight. Now that she’s been eating in a surplus every day for a year, we can clearly see it was set up and she’s a liar. But fans like you don’t like hearing true facts and actual evidence so carry on lol

      I have a difficult time believing that anybody who regularly applies that much fake-up is genuine. The vocal fry is another affect that makes her seem phony.

    Hey Steph,
    as a coach for more then 20 years, i really think this may be one of the most important videos i ever saw.
    First of all it was very brave to show the world how hard and difficult your all in was.
    To step back from all that fitness/crazy/lean bullshit and let people know how much better a healthy "normal" body feels, is an amazing job you did.
    I have a 12 year old daughter, who already thinks she should be leaner and skinnier and i have all hands full in explaining to her what would be better.....so having your story as a guideline for her, will help a lot!
    I hope you follow your path and stay happy and healthy!
    Take care

      Thank you so much for your input! I mean this genuinely, I think it's a great idea to show this to teenagers.

    Thank you so much for doing this, and recording throughout your journey and sharing it on the internet. I can't even imagine how difficult it must have been! I have so much respect for you. This is what I believe in to be "healthy", not just look thinner on the outside but to be really comfortable with however you look. I wish that I can be as strong as you. You are an incredible person! I'm so glad I found you

    I really appreciate you sharing your journey with us. First for showing/popularizing all in and second for being so vulnerable. I’ve started going all in and on days that I’m struggling I just watch your videos and know that it’s normal, I’m not alone, and I’m doing what’s best to regulate my hunger and my relationship to my body. Thank you

    she literally had an eating disorder and people were constantly commenting on her weight.. so stupid. those comments could have been incredibly harmful to a less strong individual.
    I've been in recovery for three years and still fall back into restriction anytime someone comments on my weight. people need to mind their own business.

      Exactly. They think they’re doing something when they say “omg she’s obese now” “okay go ahead, eat urself to obesity” when she was killing her body to stay that lean. They need to check THEIR facts of what’s healthy and what isnt

      @maccajoe - She didn't go to another extreme weight wise. People were just so used to seeing her so small for so long that when she started to gain weight they thought she was obese because they weren't used to seeing her at that size. Yes, she did overeat at points during this journey, but she tried to maintain a more well-balanced diet and consult her physician along the way.
