      i dont understand that what is diet culture when there's junk food restaurants everywhere? i dont see anything about "diet culture" when i'n out but it's so easy to see a junk food restaurant.

      @@itwasnotyourworld diet culture isnt about the physical existence of fast-food restaurants. it's about the culture that we and our parents grew up in; having a bad relationship with food and thinking certain foods are "bad", and starving ourselves to be skinny and thinking you cant eat past whatever time etc. THAT is diet culture; the unhealthy toxic standards society has set on women especially to look a certain way, therefore resulting in body dysmorphia and DIETING.

      @Mishko Mishko This person didn't mean they "eat as much as they want and stay lean" They meant that they eat intuitively and are free from thinking "I can't eat as much as I want because I have to stay lean." Right now, if "eating as much as you want" means eating like Steph did when she first started her all in journey, then no you can't eat like that and stay lean. But you can go through what she did and eventually get to the point of "I'll get lasagna cause I want to, but I'm full after eating half" and still be incredibly fit. The issue is, are you putting your need for a 6 pack above your mental health and well being? Like steph said, intuitive eating is NORMAL eating how we were intended to eat, and how most of used to eat when we were kids and young teens

      ​@Mishko Mishko Do you have an XX body or a XY body? For XX/ciswomen our bodies do not WANT to be at a 10% body fat, it's not always healthy and our bodies will actively try to push us to eat more, and show warning signs like terminating your period (because you might be at risk if you get pregnant), it'll have trouble regulating body temperature and a bunch of other problems might happen. Intuitive eating is impossible if you want to stay at a very low body fat %. It's usually better for people (especially XX/women) who want to be around 15 - 30%, as if you listen to your body's cues that's most likely where you'll end up.

      @Mishko Mishko 15% is around where you might be as an athlete. Stage ready tends to be lower from what I've seen, but I mostly know about figure and physique competitions. Below 15% is usually where you'll lose your period. 20-30% is even more normal for intuitive eaters to be at, but for some very active people with a lot of muscle, lower is possible, but not usual at all.
      Either way both you and I are fully aware that intuitive eating is not compatible with body fitness competitions.

      @Mishko Mishko Dont Forget that you have to choose the foods you are going to eat based on what they make you FEEL for intuitive eating. Like, for me, I don’t feel good when eating sweets and I know a lot of other people who feel the same way. So intuitive eating would be NOT eating too many sweets for me. Also keep in mind, you cannot eat all day! It’s not eating whatever you want, how much you want, when you want. You have to listen to your body/hunger still. You have to stop at some point because you WILL get full. Does that make sense?

    I'm recovering from disordered eating and a huge tip I can offer if trying to intuitive eat is to AVOID EATING IN FRONT OF A SCREEN! This used to be such bad habit of mine I would just endlessly eat while distracted, ignoring all satiety signals. At first it feels weird to eat in silence but it just makes your body's signals so much louder :)

      Except my ED thoughts are SO loud when I don't use a screen as a distraction and then I end up not eating what I'm supposed to eat.. It's a very good tip for when bingeing though!

      For anyone reading this comment who is in the first stages of recovering from an ED: if your ED thoughts are too loud and every time you try to eat you have an internal battle with yourself, than you might want to eat in front of a screen! It gives your mind a distraction from the food.
      Not eating in front of a screen is very helpful for people who have a tendency to overeat, but if you need the distraction that's ok too!
      (No hate to the original commenter, I'm just trying to spread more information)

      Me too. Finally! Just hope I can continue and don't give up and restrict again. The weight gain is scary, normally by this point, I would be back on a diet but I'm just trying to accept it and move forward with eating intuitively.

      I completely understand how difficult this is. But You can do it. I tend to binge on low calorie foods in order not to gain weight (also really hungry). Don't want to give up on my shredded physique but I still trying to embrace a healthier body and focus on the things that I like in it (e.g. my arm muscles which tend to get bigger when I gain weight).

      IT will be SO worth it in the end! Promise! I struggled with anorexia for years throughout my teens. I know it feels so important to be the smallest you can possibly be, but I look back on those days and want to shake myself out of it. I hated my body so much, but had literally no reason to. I struggled with the changes my body was going through, turning itself into a woman, I literally thought about food all days but would fast for 3 days at a time.... what a waste! I would be in class thinking about food when I should be actually applying myself in lessons. In church thinking about food when I should be feeling grateful for all I have, and showing love to those around me. Years wasted thinking about food, hating my hunger cues when all my body was doing was telling me to eat so it could support me through a happy healthy life. 5 years later, I love my body, my curves, I have boobs and hips! the little voice is still there, I dont know if it will ever go but I'm proud of myself every time I tell it to 'shut up, I'm going to enjoy this piece of cake'. It's not an easy journey, and everyone's recovery is different, but wanting to recover is the first and biggest step you'll take. You should be very proud of yourself. You will love your body one day, and it wont be because you're fading away to nothing, it will be because your body will allow you to live a happy, healthy, active life, will allow you grow a baby inside it, will allow you to enjoy life and enjoy food. And it will feel amazing. I wish you the very best

    I am a 17th years old girl who's dealing with an ED recovery and I can only say thank you so much for everything you've done. I am in the phase were I can say out loud when I am hungry without feeling ashamed. My life changed drastically and I don't regret anything, I believe I am much happier even before the times I didn't "discover" diet culture. I am trying to love my body and appreciate all the things that I can do because of the strenght that I've got from all the bad times. I accept that my body won't ever look like what it was in my ED times and that's totally fine because the happiness I am feeling at the moment is waaaay higher than ''a look'' that society accepts. It's not meant for me to look like that but it is meant to LIVE fully and enjoy being here. I am proud of my progress and I would never wanna go back. Now reflecting at all the big amounts of food that I've consumed and the guilt I felt I totally see them maybe as the only reason I survived and I am still here fighting. Steph thank you, you are a fighter and a hero in my story!

      @@SoVidushi hii! Thank you for your concern, it means so much to me!! I am better, definetely better. Tomorrow is my 17th birthday and I really was thinking about the fact that if I haven’t pursued recovery maybe I would have been “celebrating” in the hospital or worst. I am still learning to accept myself and the fact that we all are different and my body is doing his best. I keep telling myself that the more space I take while I’m in recovery, the more life I get to live. Obviously ED thoughts come time to time and I can’t stop them, still a part of me but I finally got the responsability and the wisdom to understand that my life is mine, I belong to me and others perspective on myself are just their problems and insecurities, a number will never define my worth and the way I eat has nothing to do again with my worth. I am enough and you too, the people who love you they do it because of all those little “imperfections” that you believe in. I also have acne and I ain’t lying is fricking annoying and gives me social anxiety but as the days pass I look myself in the mirror and think ‘Daria that is what makes you unique, the ones around you care about the way you make them feel, not how are you dressed or how your body skin looks, you are not alone’. There are billions of people struggeling and I want to let everyone know that people around just know your name but not your stories and if the pain that you went through builded you like that, in a body that helps you to fight everyday than I am damn proud of you, I am in love with you!

      Hey,,,girl. Good for u. I have 17 yr old daugher, n i help her deal with her image issues. She is 5’8 xs n curvy skinny super fit athletic. N she still feel insecure. Because of the guys in high school always want “think” need curves need this need that. First of all….since i am in toronto HUGE partly crowd high presure. Biggest party crowds full of hot ppl highest presure. I can tell u that NO1 if guys avertly talk about :”i want thick . U need this ..” major red flag….misogynistic. I have never had a good friend NOT feel ashamed talk about it In front of a Female. It’s Deal breaker. NO2. I have had the hottest gfs, asian, white, roommates,,friends…. Years down the road, NONE of them get involved married because the way they look. And most of all beyond that. In fact most guys do NOT look at Instagram, when women post on stuff they are for other women to see. I have 250000 pics n I do NOT post, cuz i know myself fine. I have had eating disorder for decade, one point i gained 20 lb from XS to M, when I gained the weight, was when I broke off bad long term,,,I wa most free,,,n I actually never had issue meeting ppl…. As long as u keep good spirits ppl like to be around u. I hear guys talk about the HOT ppl they meet, within 5 min they cant make conversation, they find them too bitchy, they are not beyond what their pics are set up to be, they say their thoughts kept coming back to me. Its more than face or pics or weight.
      In the end. I successfully got rid of eating disorder ,,,, even for my GYM goer, atheletic husband, who actually looks like gym trainer. 90% men obcessed with gym have secret eating disorder. Its just front n Cooping mechnism to maintain the look /shape . Luckily i took health, n nutrition. So learning about food, body, science, metablism,,,, eating disorder, cause, n plan, how to eat like athelet, how to deal with eating disorder while still exercise,. Its a diff topic. What stephany is saying listen to the body is EXACTLY what u have to do to get out.
      Professor: “ IF U DO NOT FEEL HUGERY when u need to eat,,, then 2 hrs later u hit with wave of hunger---sign of eating disorder--caused by Chemical imbalance”
      Its the Brain has issues that not releasing the proper hormon : when ur hungery, when ur full. These 2 signals are ultimate mechnism we are born with, but r broken working against us. So if we have eating disorder, if we do not fix our eating habbits n RE SET the signal/hormon ,,,but jump in try to diet, working out first. It will make ED worse.
      Do grocery--on time (believe or not, thats the hardest thing).
      Meal prep (Balanced 40-50% carb to start, then protein vege---then over the course reduce carb add protein, but need to get more carb to start ED body CRAVES more carb,,,) aim to find the Spot when Brain feel quick “satisfaction” so wont crave more food
      Make meal prep big portion, save some portions in FREEZER (critical) for rainy days sick days
      - set alarm to eat (inntially ED ppl wont have the signal of hunger…but once u warm up the food u have first bite, u suddenly feel hungry n eat the whole thing. Thats how u know ur brain hunger signal is not working, u really do NEED food), first 4 weeks u need to set alarm, once it rings u need to eat right way within 20 min
      - Most important thing is LUNCH, NOT dinner. (With lunch eating on time, u will get hungry on time for dinner… keep body on good flow)
      - Make sure go to bed before 12:30 -1am first 4-6 months….(will HELL FAST TRACK U GET RID OF ED FAST). Cuz it helps u to regulate metabolism . If u ever get HUNGRY by 10:30pm. The HUNGER is NOT REAL HUNGER. Its body prepare u to stay up late. Its called Leptin hormon. Its not real hunger. If u can NOT miss read that as hunger, but my body knows i need to go to bed, but knows i like to stay up late. U need to go to bed within 20-30 min. Then ud walk up not hungry at all. (Shows that hungry signal is fake)
      If ur going to date, movie, family cookout, …. The dinner is 7 pm. That means ppl won’t arrive till 8, order food, drink first,,,then this then that..food comes :8:30-9pm. Lol. Always alway always buy a Banada from STarbusk to buy some time, or get muffin even donut/chips/protein bars. Anything with cal to fill in the gap between 6-9pm, the goal is to maintain body function doesn’t make it lower to starvation mode. Once its on starvation mode,,, d body is running Slow on next 36 hours,,,,even if u eat Normal amount as usual, u d still gain weight( this is utter MOST IMPORTANT LIFE COACHING ) . U cant get from gym trainers who have ED themselves. ONLY College professors Actually TREAT ED as Disease (HORMONAL disorder) will tell u that. “If u have been eating good, once a while weekends go to house party, or late pot luck movie,,,,MAKE sure eat something cuz ud be on d go anyway, to keep body going. The biggest mistake is :”i am going to eat anyway’ It might be okay if u do NOT have ED, but if u HAVE ED, it will TRIGER ED. To Combate ED, it is to REGULATE body Metablism”
      K its so long ago,,, just let u know i did half marathon,,, long jog, amazing performance. I did all sorts things. I got out of ED course i took course for it. Cuz to treat it like disease. Its not about cal, its life style. Our professor: “First little while will make u put on weight, cuz when u start eating Full meals at Lunch, Dinner, yr body is broken it is always on Starvation mode, it will hoard fat, but dont panic….it will 100% adjust itself out within 2-4 weeks…after that ur body lose Fat for u, u dont even need to workout”…
      It happened to me. I lost like 20 LB by EATing MORE. I got my GYM obcessed husband out of ED also. He lost 60 lb but was YoYO dieting, binge then next day 4 hour workout. I got him out of ED within 10 months( he didnt believe me first lol ) i got myself out of ed within 6-7 months . One day he actually need reducing workouts since he had been dating me…n he had been EATING MORE n regularity. Out of blue he lost 8lb (for already muscle fit dude losing 8lb fat is a lot of loss comparing fat person losing 8 lb) . He was in shock. Lol..in the past he had to go on diet for it. But he was like Eating pasta for lunch, Baked chicken with baked potatoes, vege etc. not like super lean diet . I put microwaved egg/boiled egg in each pack n apple. A couple months in if i dont pack food. He PANICS…. PANICS.. he’d be so hungry. Before that he would be like :”i have not eaten all day i am not hungry. Why shall i eat when i am not hungry”
      Yeah by NYE. 30 ppl Potluck ….30 dishes…quickly, He’s like:”I am FULL” lol. Thats first time i knew he’s OUT OF ED. Cuz know him since i was 19 he ALWAYS BINGED . He had never felt full.
      My daughter is 17…. Since u open up. It really resonate with me. I hope this helps. Woman to woman. I hope this makes u feel enpowered cuz i am stranger. Helping others will make us feel like the world is good place to enjoy. Good luck

    I feel more like a kid eating intuitively. I used to play with my friends all day (I was one of those "free range" kids of the 70's let loose in the neighborhood til the street lights came on. Yes. It was great). We'd be riding our bikes or whatever, then hunger would hit and we'd find our way to someone's kitchen (moms were scarce, but they'd leave food for us). We'd fill up and head back out. We ate plenty of sweets, and plenty of meat and veggies (this was Iowa, after all) and pb&j was king. And we were all skinny, busy, active kids who thought of food if we were hungry -- or we scraped up enough change for a DQ run. Bliss. Then diets.... sigh. Fast forward. Food is back, and it's again my friend. No more diets!

      Literally a perfect depiction of my childhood as well! It's like once we reach a certain age it all becomes about looks and a certain body asthetic so we start to restrict and diet!

      Yes. It’s so fascinating to see my kids be so intuitive with food. They will leave one bite of pizza or their sandwich because they are done. No feelings of needing to finish it or anything.

    I think it is important for people know that part of the intuitive eating process IS over-eating. Most people don’t go “all in” but ur body will naturally over eat if you have a history of under eating. And it’s important to know you CAN over eat but you don’t HAVE to once you’ve picked up on your fullness signals. So don’t let over eating for a period of time put you off intuitive eating. It is part of your body’s process.

    I like how you approach your eating habits so logically. You don't just eat whole foods because they're "good for you," you eat that way because you realize that it's the most satisfying and serves as the best fuel for your daily performance. That's the perfect perspective. That way, as you said, you don't have these pangs of guilt when you eat processed snacks, etc. You're a great role model in this fitness world.

    You inspired me to stop restricting and I feel like I broke my overeating/underrating cycle! I’m still working on the intuitive part, but eating until I’m full allowed me to shed weight and fuel workouts, which has helped with my joint pain! Thank you for being such an awesome role model!

    As someone with a bulimia history triggered largely by cycles of intense dieting and then bingeing, thank you for speaking out about this ❤️ Intuitive eating is not something that should be such an unusual concept, but diet culture is so normalised that it is.

    My husband helped me so much with this. I loved how he talked about food- about the textures, colors, flavors. Rather than thinking about whether it would make him fat or not. It was a totally novel way of looking at food for me and made me love food in a way i never had before

    My journey is literally synchronized with yours. My body set range is higher than yours, so my mantra is "We could all eat the same thing and have the same activity levels, but we would STILL look different".
    Even with intuitive eating, I still have days where I compare my size to others and catch myself judging the foods they're eating while wondering how they are the size that they are. Then I remind myself that I make food choices based on how I feel, not how I think that choice will make me look.
    Comparison is the thief of joy! And this girl is finally staying in her own lane 💪

A lot of people struggle with this and is so hard to be able to talk about and make sense of it and you just hit it on point.     My one point of disagreement would be with Alissa's point that intuitive eating is for everybody .. due to a long period of disordered eating some people just cannot follow their intuition because they've shut it out for too long and need to be trained how to care for their body instead

      yes. i hate when someone just says "trust me, it will work and you'll go back to normal." intuitive eating works for some, but not for others. each body is different so people need to test out what works and doesn't work for them

      Nope! Just how a person who has always ignored their feeling can learn one day to listen to their emotions so can a chronic over eater. That thought process that you have is why some people will never reach their happy weight or happy state because they feel they are too far gone. you are never too far gone to tune into your own bodies needs.

      intuitive eating is a process that is gradual and tailored to the individual. it’s not the same thing as all-in. i would encourage you to read the book because the authors talk a lot about how they work with clients and they even have a whole section on EDs!

      I know but you have to let go to be able to listen to yourself and heal, if not it is going to be back to square one every single time. I know it is scary, but once you start on this path, you will be surprised how much your body is with you and how quick you are able to reconnect with yourself and find peace.

      I hear you! I started about a year ago and it changed my life. Try reading the F*ck it Diet by Caroline Dooner, it's a really easy read that might help you learn more and decide if its for you. Her version of intuitive eating is similar to this, even if she calls it by a different name.

    Living in a world that instills fear of food to a certain extent hurts...especially when I used to be very overweight, all the “we can’t have this food around, “That’s a bad food,” “oooo, that foods dangerous” adds up to create such an unhealthy relationship with food. So thank you for sharing your story, no matter how much people have had to say!! The me that is continually working on dissolving traumas and having no fear toward any food (while still fueling strength and performance) is everything 🥺💕💕

      Intuitive eating made my binge eating and bulimia WAY worse! I recovered by doing the exact opposite... and because of that, I was able to lose all the excess weight I gained from binge eating and now have my dream body☺️ maybe I could have recovered with intuitive eating... but I’m not naturally thin, so I know I wouldn’t have been happy with my body

      She is a scientist/doctor? No? This is something that is something she is studying and trying to improve her and our understanding of. It’s something she is dedicated to for now at least. It’s a subject that all humans deal with one way or another. Every human eats, many under eat, others over eat, others maintain a “healthy body weight”. Most of us struggle to maintain a healthy weight with appropriate nutrition at the same time.

    This is where I’m at. My body is hitting its set weight. I used to restrict so hard that I was in an XS clothing at 5’11. Now I’m a medium and eat until I’m full. Much happier, and people don’t constantly ask if I’m sick. ❤️

    So happy that you got to this place and realization! I am an intuitive eater and my weight stays the same--give or take a few pounds. People often ask what I eat and I tell them REAL FOOD and follow cravings (that's my body telling me I am deficient)! I modify meals that in some places may be high calorie of full of junk and replace with healthier ingredients. Meals have to taste good, and be satisfying, so you have to figure out what you like and a healthy way to replicate those dishes/snacks! Ditch all the restrictive methods. Be mindful, but not too hard on yourself. I don't count macros, get on a scale often, or go on fad diets. I try some things like Keto to see. My choices are just fine and that 's something I don't even have to stress about. This is a GAME CHANGER and STOKED that you are sharing it with your followers!

    I discovered your channel 10 months ago after a friend recommended it to me due to your “all in” journey. At that point I hadn’t had a period for 2.5 years and had really bad extreme hunger and disordered eating after yo-yo dieting for years.

    This made me cry. I'm so glad I watched this. I've struggled with an eating disorder ever since 2010 when I had a boyfriend stand over me at meals and tell me that I would never be a successful actress if I didn't lose more and more weight. I got down to about 85 pounds (5'2) by doing cardio 2 hours a day and fasting. My heart stopped at one point in the ER. Then doctors put me on meds to make me gain weight and I topped out at 180. I ran 8 miles a day plus in high altitude and sunk back underweight within two years by carb restricting. Then I got depressed and went back up to 165 eating mostly sugar. Then down to 140 weight lifting. For the last two weeks, I started legit starving myself and I came across your video after breaking down and eating and now all I want to do is listen to my body and work out for fun without restricting or harming myself. I'm not trying to do this on purpose, sometimes when I get stressed (I have PTSD) I just sort of want to control things so I stop eating. Thank you for this amazing advice

      Goodluck with your journey! I am almost 17 and 5'2", my lowest weight was a few lbs more than yours. It took me limiting the amount of times I check myself in the mirror in a day and mindful eating for over a year to finally feel stable. I am not afraid of gaining or losing weight now and it is such a freeing mindset to be in.

    Love this. From an ex personal trainer, binge eater, anorexic, etc.. I really decider to reroute my eating habits and have permission to eat within the context of hunger and fullness. Forgetting a the does and don'ts. I used to eat that way before childhood trauma and now I'm excited to focus back on enjoying life. Not weighing myself was the biggest advice you could give. I realize that the scale can really determine the day whether I'm happy or sad and whether I binge or stay on track. Thank you for this video.

      People over eat pasta these days because they now consider it “bad” due to low carb diets. So they binge on it during cheat meals. A serving of high quality pasta can provide some iron from the wheat in pasta. It is yummy satisfying vehicle for sauces and proteins.

    Not sure if you'll see this but I went "All-In" during the 2020 lockdown and went from 170 pounds to 250 pounds.
    Then nature took over and I'm down to 200 pounds without having to track or worry about food.
    This is all thanks to you and your journey...which got me invested.

      Hello ! I tried to give you as much insight as I could in my journey :
      Before starting, I would like to say that my therapy was "self-made" and was based on advices from two french youtubers who are Intuitive Eating behavioir Dietetician and obviously the bible of Intuitve Eating which cost about 15 dollars : « Intuitive Eating A revolutionnary anti-diet approach ». That's it, my ED recovery cost was 15$. I think it is a very good way to start especially if you struggle financially, I think it is 9$ for the kindle version. I would also recommend if you have question and want a supportive community around you to join Beatrice Caruso (the yter) discord and go to the Intuitive Eating section to read/learn/share.
      The thing I learned following my Intuitive Eating Behaviour Therapy to treat my ED is that 1/ Stop feeling guilty about using food has a coping method. It is okay. Your brain try to survive and the only tool he can access quickly is food. Because it is usually the only tool you gave it to survive. So it is okay. Sometimes when you feel distressed; you will eat chocolate and it helps. In Intuitive Eating, the goal number 7 is to cope with your feeling without using food utlimately, because you were able to put in place of food other tools for your brain to use when dealing with stress. It is a process that takes times and it asks of you to try and learn to be in sync with your body, to understand when you are hungry, when you are thirsty, when you want to eat chocolate for the sheer pleasure of it ( and celebrate it !) or when it is your tool to deal with stress. When you more or less get your body/mind patterns, you can try and implement new tools whatever they are may be it would be plain swearing, or dancing or opening a book, or dealing directly with the source of your distress. And accept that sometimes the tool that will be used will be food, and it is okay. Because sometimes chocolate can heal. It will just stop to be your only way to deal with (di)stress. ANd from that day on, food will not be something to fear, but a companion of your life. It can take time and it is more than okay, because you are teaching your brain to take brand new roads and breaking a pattern that he has now for may be all his life.

      2/ I also learned in therapy to never feel guilty about my binge eating, and to approach it as an experience to be able to learn myself better and understand the whys and the hows behind it. The moment I stopped overdramatizing my binge eating episodes, it almost stopped on its own. In my case it was because i was also using it as a tool to destroy my own self-esteem and to make me feel like the piece of s*** I thought i was, it was a tool of self-destruction.
      3/ What was also key was to stop moralizing food, there is no good food or bad food, there is only food. The moment I stopped giving an aura of ultimate temptation/forbideness to the « bad food », they lost their power to tempt me. They were only foods among other foods and my brain stopped wanting to go to them because they lost this grip they had on me. It took me 10 months to get there, but when I started my journey I could have never guessed that I could ever reconnect with myself and food. So I would not recommend stopping having the food you love at home because it will most likely turn into an obsession and could trigger binge eating of all things at a later date. I would Recommend to start thinking in depth about what is your relationship to food, how to reconnect with your body, understanding your in-depths mechanisms is key.
      4/ I put this last, but it should be be at the very top, the only way to start healing is completely stopping to try to lose weight. It IS one of the most difficult part, because one of the reasons we are where we are today is because we have been fighting ourselves to make our bodies fit our vision of beauty. When I started my therapy , I was weighting 115kg, and it seemed somehow pure insanety to not try and lose weight when my body was suffering so much ( not because of my weight but because of the very real impact of diet yo-yoing & bingeing on my health). But I knew that as long as I did not heal my body would keep on paying the price, I would keep on bingeing and destroying my health. ANd every time I thought about restricting myself so that I could lose weight I would end up bingeing. Every single TIme. So I learned to root out a lifetime of a bad habit. Now, sometimes, this bad habit wants to make a come back in my life, but I refuse. I gained my health and mental health back, I am not sacrificing that for any imaginary pounds. YOu will see, the moment your body stop binge eating for sometimes, it is almost like your body reset itself and you live in a new body and brain.

I started to try to implement the understanding that there is no such a thing as bad foods, but again, it truly takes a decent time to master it without feeling guilt. I want to say I'm so proud of you, as well as congratulations for trying to rid such a painful and exhausting repetitive cycle. As well as thank you for telling me that it's not about weight. I was always overweight through out my life, I lost 80lbs through anorexia and then gained it back plus a bit more, and my eating habits have never been the same since then. I guess I feel sorrow over what I gained back, so I try to compensate by trying to lose weight but it just leaves me binging. I will try to work on improving me health and wellbeing as much as I can!     I did “all in” and it worked for me! I was bulimic for more than a year and I got tired of my binge-purge routine and eventually decided to just eat whatever I want even though I felt really bad about it for some time. But over time I don’t know exactly how it happened but I started to crave for more healthy and whole foods but I also let myself eat junk if I wanted to! Now I eat intuitively and I don’t have a bad relationship with food. It took time of course, but just have faith in yourself! :)

    I can’t wait until I get to this place. I binge on clean foods and it’s such an emotional rollercoaster. Having an insatiable hunger is literally torture when it isn’t bliss during the moment of the binge

    It's so good to watch videos like this one. I don't have many friends who aim at food freedom/ intuitive eating or whatever. Everyone is so obsessed with their weight and appearance. And I am sick of it. I am not an intuitive eater yet. I am still afraid, but I can sense that my mentality has started to shift and some days are really good (e.g not overeating and/or not feeling guilt). What we all should take away from this video is your tip on being patient with ourselves.

    I didn't actually do an all in process, but I did allow myself to gain all the weight I wanted on 2020, and that gave me strength to now get back on the treadmill and cardio as well as a natural decrease of hunger. Sometimes it's just allowing yourself to BE. You don't always have to be skinny, or fit or fat or anything. Trust your ability to change 💖

I've worked a 12 step program on and off for years, not realizing I could actually heal myself with food. I still have a lot of fear, but I'm making progress towards a healthier mindset.     im incredibly blessed to have found this video and channel. thank you. i noticed weight gain two years ago and decided to start exercising and eating healthier. it was then my self confidence and mental health went down. health culture was making me feel like a failure and because of all the dieting i now have gut health issues caused by bad eating patterns and STRESS. this video is genuinely so freeing.

    Stephanie - I clicked on the video the second I saw the words "intuitive eating." I literally teared up watching this while eating my poke bowl lol I have always been eating intuitively, but had a few days of tracking and other times feeling like I'm not doing things right if I don't track like other people. It's always in the back of my head, even though I know that intuitive eating works for me and gives me physical and mental results. It sucks that society has trained our brains to think that dieting and caloric deficit and all that are THE ONLY WAYS. I have been working with my RD and thankfully was able to develop a healthier relationship with my body, my food, and overall perspective on health and fitness. I can't agree with your video enough - each and every single word - so thank you!

      Erika, I'm puzzled. Many people, like me, happily live, and thrive, on a vegan "diet" or lifestyle which involves plants as whole foods (with supplements). Why isn't this sustainable, especially as it's sustainable for the planet ?

    Lovvveeeee my new life with this way of eating. I went all in 4 years ago. Before going all in I ate next to nothing(except when I would binge) and looked/felt my absolute worst. It took time and patience but then it was like one day everything just seemed to make sense and come together. I looked amazing. I felt amazing. My clothes fit/were too big. I didn't stress about food any more.I eat when I am hungry. Whatever I feel like. Stop when I am full. Some days I eat a lot some days I don't eat as much. The biggest difference is dieting doesn't consume my life any more. I am so much happier.

    I did this last year throughout lock down 1.0 and have noticed a huge difference in how I view food!!! My friends say how I have "such good will power" because I can buy crisps and a large chocolate bar or a carton of ice cream and not eat it all in 1 sitting (I used to be that person). But now because I say "yeah, course you can have that" to myself, my need to eat more of it is gone! I don't feel guilty about eating the food I want anymore and I don't feel the need to harm my body by restricting then eating to the point of discomfort. Thank you Stephanie, I didn't even know I could do this until I saw you do it! You helped me, and my boyfriend who did it with me, so much!!

    I love that you mention you're still working on things, and none of us are really perfect at this!
    I have become an intuitive eater after many issues like obsessing over calories, etc. and am so grateful to be where I am now- love focusing on the health and happiness VS trying to sculpt our bodies to a certain exact shape

    I'm feeling like i want a salad, I eat a salad.
    I'm feeling like i want a burger, I eat burger, oh no, I can't finish it, that's fine I can eat the rest tomorrow or later or throw it out.
    I'm feeling like a square of chocolate, I eat a square, I want another, I eat another.

    For some of you who love Stephanie but are feeling bad about yourself because you intuitively eat but don't see results like hers, remember that Stephanie's situation is much different from yours. She doesn't say this much, but it's obvious she is more privileged than a lot of us in terms of time, access to resources, money and knowledge. While she does eat whatever she wants, she has spent YEARS of her life building up her habits and knowledge on dieting and exercising. So for her, diet and exercise has become second nature to her, leading up to her having weight-loss and muscle growth from intuitively eating. Meanwhile, for many of us, we HAVE TO make a conscious effort to lose weight and gain muscle because we are NOT professionals ourselves. Plus Stephanie works out HARD for a bajillion times a week, so of course she's going to get lean within a couple of months.
    SO what I'm saying is, don't feel bad that your intuitive eating is not getting you results like hers. You have to find your own way and not focus of what other people are doing; it is especially important to not compare yourself to people who have advantages that you might not have. What works for Stephanie may not work for you, and that's all there is to it. And maybe, intuitive eating is just not working out for you at the moment for your goals! Maybe you just need to find another way without feeling too restrictive on your diet. As what Mr. ObeseToBeast would say, maybe you need to practice "mindful eating" before you can full-out eat intuitively...and that's ok!
    Granted, some of her content can be triggering, especially if your still trying to figure things out for yourself. For instance, if you find her daily mirror selfies and workout clips to be triggering on her Insta stories, but you still want to support her by following her, just mute her stories! It's that simple! No need to hate on her now because she got skinny.

      Well said. Especially the exercise part. Steph wouldn't look the way she does if she didn't work out a lot a) before, b) during and c) after her all-in journey, even if she took some breaks here and there. Both in terms of actually using those 2500-3000 calories she intakes but also in regards to what the bodyshape she ends/ended up with actually looks like.
      And while I get all the body neutrality stuff, most people want to look a certain way and are unhappy when they don't get there and telling them to "just eat it" might not be the way to achieve that - at least without major modifications to other areas.

I am 3 months into eating maintenance calories and have gained quite a bit of weight because I had restricted my calories to 1000 daily for at least 5 years. Working on adapting my metabolism back to normal. I find your struggles so relatable and appreciate you sharing.

    I find it fascinating that you have gone full circle to look so similar to when you were struggling and starving. Not in a negative way. I just mean that you felt you had to be so restrictive etc to look the way you did in the past but now you’re trim and “healthy looking” in a more natural positive way.       Keep in mind, you are seeing a highly edited video that took probably 20-30 hours to create and it took her 2 years to get there. I wouldn't expect Steph to be this happy and "perfect" all the time. Strive for "better", not "perfection". And don't worry about soon. There is no rush, take your time and take it one step after the other and you can do it I'm sure.
