    Ford gives its 2018 Mustang a significant refresh that leaves the car looking meaner up front and deletes the previously available V6. The turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder and the 5.0-liter V8 continue, but the V8 produces more power and both transmissions are new. The new manual remains a 6-speed, but gets a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel, and the new automatic has 10 speeds, was co-developed with GM, and includes paddle shifters. The EcoBoost produces 310 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque, while the upgraded V8 makes 460 hp and 420 lb-ft.
    All 2018 Mustangs get new shock absorbers and upgraded suspension, and the Performance Package offers an optional MagneRide magnetic damper system that improves handling. The new Mustang’s cabin also offers upgrades, from a heated steering wheel to a 12-inch customizable digital dashboard, and a number of advanced safety features, including pedestrian detection and lane-keeping assist, are optional. Georgii Arakelov I get what you mean. And besides the camaro SS there is no better deal for the package at 55k. No other companies offer what these two offer for the price. As much as I love dodge, they don't offer the same all around performance and technology for that price. Yes it's expensive for a mustang because mustangs normally come in around 35-42k. But even at 50k there's is no better bargain besides the 6th gen 1LE. Now you could buy a slightly used GT350 for under 55k now so that's probably a better deal.

    Interesting switch on the transmission recommendation between this and last year's California Special convertible review. On the CA convertible you recommended the old 6 speed auto. I'm wondering if that is because that car is more of a "cruiser" and this one is held to a higher performance standard.

    Ford's moto for the Mustang used to be "Fast, Fun, and Affordable". That $51,000 price tag for a GT. Would make me immediately pay the extra $5,000+ for the GT-350. Mainly due to the depreciation. Standard run of the mill Mustangs don't hold their value at all. (Pretty much the second the tires leave the lot they drop in value by $8,000. The GT350 and the GT-350 R and the upcoming GT-500 will hold their value down the road much better than a Premium GT. (Or any other version)

      Lately Ford's MSRPs have been crazy high I think you can get the car for $48k, but discounts are not available on a GT350. Also you really want to get the PP2 package on the GT, not PP1+magneride which is what this guy had.

    Car review editors always mention MSRP pricing. If you pay that when buying a Ford product, then you are not buying wisely. Most Fords have Factory, and dealer rebates and other incentives. There are exceptions like the GT350 and other special edition models that dealers will even mark up over MSRP! But for the most part, you can get pricing below MSRP significantly.

    Good review. That 10 speed auto would be expensive to fix I bet. I prefer the hood on my 15 vs the sloped down look. i like seeing the bulging hood while driving. I understand its not good for aero. Too bad the mustang’s price no longer makes it the working mans affordable muscle car imo. So yes buy used since these cars depreciate like rocks. A great car still ... just getting close to corvette pricing.

    An automatic doesn’t read minds it reads sensors in the vehicle and can’t respond to ever nuance that it encounters thats why there’s paddle shifters for spirited driving as a reviewer you should know that, in manuals you also miss gears so whats the difference I know because all I drive are Manuals currently own a 2017 2SS manual, the same thing happens in any auto car no matter the price there are limitations to all automatics my next car will be an automatic I love the new ten speeds.

    Something is seriously wrong with the world, there’s so much corporate greed. The Mustang was always supposed to be an affordable sports car, that was the origin of its design. I have a 2006 Mustang GT Premium that cost me $30,000 out the door in 2006. Now this new one is $51,000, that’s a 70% price increase. I guess in that amount of time again the new GT will be selling for $87,000. People’s salaries are not even increasing enough to keep up with these ludicrous price increases which span more than just the automotive sector.

    • @aramgaribyan6248
      @aramgaribyan6248 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your 2006 Mustang GT Premium is a piece of shit, and was a piece of shit when you bought it. You can't compare that car to what it is today, and that's counting differences in standards throughout the years. The GT today starts off at 35,000. If you don't want fancy clusters or magnetic suspensions or heated steering wheels (all of which didn't even exist in 2006 for your GT )don't pay for that kind of shit and the price won't rise to 51,000. Use your brain.

    It is a really nice car, but at almost 52K I would take a low mile Challenger Hellcat any day over it. I do like the new styling of the GT,s front end and its a good-looking ride, but the lines and sinister old school hot looks of the Mopar together with all that incredible power just does it for me. When Hellcat was released in 2014, it singlehandedly set the standard and was the #1 car in the land. Lol so if that wasn't enough Dodge does one better and recently released Demon, I'm sure its giving the engineers at GM and Ford fits lol.
