      Can it adjust each wheel independently? Or is it stuck with a single setting for all or maybe different settings front/back?

    I first had the Magnetic ride system on my 2010 ZR1, it really is the best of both worlds. Even in touring mode.If you hit the brakes hard the MRS goes from tour to track instantly to control the car in an emergency. I now have 3 cars with it and I love it.

    I owned a base 2017 GT 6-spd and it did okay in the curves here in the Arkansas Ozarks. I now have a 2020 GT 6-spd with Magneride and it's a huge upgrade. Even in 'normal' mode she handles. Sport and Track are a whole other level. Thing to remember is the system takes account for speed and steering wheel inputs. The faster you go the firmer it gets. On the interstate in comfort it just glides along nicely. Very much worth the price. No more money that a good set of adjustable coilovers. A good option if you daily drive during the week and have the opportunity to do spots driving on the weekend.

    I'm definitely gunna get my stang with Magnaride. Does keeping your car in track with the magnaride suspension wear the system out faster?

  • @1989rs500
    @1989rs500 6 ปีที่แล้ว +47

    Ok the MagneRide is cool but the 2018 Mustang is not at all about MagneRide..
    It's new 5.0 is 5/5,
    I mean I expected some difference but after driving the new Mustang GT PP1 back to back with a Camaro S S 1LE, I am sold for the Stang..I mean yeah the SS has more torque and handles a wee bit better,but somehow the high revving more linear natural of new 5.0 is so damn satisfying. Most American V8s are dope post 6500 rpm..specially GM 6.2 and Dodge but the Ford's 5.0 is a breath of fresh air..it keeps on revving till 7200 and yet keeps on pulling..GM and Dodge feel like strained post 6000 rpm, the last 1000 rpm Ford has is so damn exciting...
    I liked this even better than GT350 engine which itself is superb but lacks torque below 4000 rpm, new 5.0 feels torquey post 3000 and yet makes power throughout the wide power band.

    • @1989rs500
      @1989rs500 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Briane Howland
      I still dont understand what you under from my post.the GTs 5.0 has a very linear curve, the GM engine makes torque quickly post 2000 rpm carries it strong till 6000 and then starts fading..
      The 5.0 has its peak push coming at around 4000 rpm and carries it till nearly 7000 rpm, the last 1000 rpm of Mustang is what I loved the most, usually even the last gen 5.0 didnt make any meaningful power post 6200-6300 rpm, the new 5.0 does pull even past 6500 to nearly 7000, and yet it still revs to 7400 but last 400 rpm is a dip not as sweet as say a Porache flat 6 in top end power,
      Thats what I said an unusual character to an Americam V8,
      I am too not saying thr GM or Dodge V8 is bad, they too are damn cool but somehow I felt like Mustangs new 5.0 has the balance of what a GM and a European V8 like Aston Martin V8 has to offer.
      I will agree that this video is more about Magne Ride..but I just said my opinion about the new 5.0

    • @pchwang
      @pchwang 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the reason why it feels better is because the advantage of having a high revving V8 that still produces a good amount of torque is that you can have a really aggressive final drive without having to shift as often.

    • @dgillies5420
      @dgillies5420 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Mustang GT with PP2 is superior to the GT350 in several ways (0-60 with automatic is faster; suspension and brakes are equal, low-end torque is much higher, and the digital instrument cluster (only on GT) is waycool.) Not only that, you can freaking ORDER a Mustang GT whereas you have to find a dealer with the GT350 in the color you want and then approach him and say, "take me, I'm yours ..."

    Hey guys, greetings from the UK.
    I had magnaride on my ford a few years back.
    There were 3 settings for the dampers, comfort, normal and sport. The shocks were filled with oil containing smal iron filings, when you change the settings electrical charge magnetises the filings to make the suspension damper (not spring) stiffer of softer. It also has the side effect when running stiffer of making the steering feel more responsive.
    Expensive if it goes wrong so either buy new with warranty or make sure you check it all works on a used vehicle. I loved it....

    I would buy a 2018/2019 for the magnaride and 10 speed Trans. But, there seems to be a lot of issues coming up with the new Mustangs with blown motors for no reason etc. This makes a 6 month old 10,000km 2018 wit Magnaride and the 10 speed would be worth more than brand spanking because someone else would have found the issue first.

    In Australia the magnaride option is $2750, and as the Aussie spec cars come with the Level One Sports Pack and digital dash as standard, it makes sense to go for the magnaride suspension setup to complete the package. As such, the car is $75k drive away Down Under. Still regarded as a performance bargain in this part of the world where we are subjected to an insidious Luxury Car Tax on many imported cars. In the case of the Mustang, it is $1753.

      @Joe.0oo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I had it, I liked it a lot, definitely an incredible technology. To be able to switch from a pretty damn stiff suspension to a limo like one in a click of a button is fantastic. After 40,000, not a single issue for me.

    Will they be able t be retro-fitted to a 2015 would be my question? A difficult part could be adding the mode adjustments into a car not fitted for it already

    • @Texarmageddon
      @Texarmageddon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Retrofitting it shouldn't be the problem... It's going to be cost that's going to eat you alive. Mode adjustments shouldn't be an issue if you just grab all the necessary parts ... As I said getting everything to make it work will kill you. Wait till these guys have warranty work done on them and see the cost of repairing them. I assure you most will start saving for good suspension replacements that are cheaper.

    • @jeremywinslow7345
      @jeremywinslow7345 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to change more than you think. The computer work alone will cost thousands, it's not just the shocks, it's the other parts as well. It is the gt350 suspension and it's a STEAL at the option price.

    • @aldeluca5079
      @aldeluca5079 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will be WAY better off selling your 2015 if you want to go with the magnaride suspension.

    • @jeremywinslow7345
      @jeremywinslow7345 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will cost thousands. You don't have the right suspension components to even support the stress the system can cause, much less the computers to make it function.

    • @Texarmageddon
      @Texarmageddon 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Al DeLuca selling his stand being a option depends on what he has... and how many miles are on it..
      I’d imagine the whole swap would be around 10-15k ... parts and labor included.. main cost would be coming from the suspension parts them selves... ford modules generally aren’t that expensive

  • @miken7452
    @miken7452 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You have to buy the performance pack which is four grand and then pay the $1700 for the magnetic ride. Corvette you can simply order this in the base model.

  • @stevester93
    @stevester93 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Would love to get MagneRide but it isn't really $1695 it more like $6000 same for both Ecoboost and GT. So for $6000 dollars I would say no. If they offered it as a standalone option for $2200 or something I would say without a doubt it would be worth the upgrade. You have to get 101a package as well as performance pack not saying either one independently is a bad deal but Ford use to offer more customization on the mustang. Now you cant get a stripper model with what you want you have to get all these extras. Granted most are going to want to opt for performance pack if there getting this. Id rather they charge more for just the options you want and offer a discount when combined with packages like they used too do. Separate gripe is you cant get performance pack 2 with 10 speed auto. It is a sports car but come on it is faster with the auto why wouldn't they make that an option at least let you order the 305 wheels if nothing else.

    • @jeremywinslow7345
      @jeremywinslow7345 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Blanco nope, it's part of the car, it's not a separate part to to speak as far as the computers go.

    • @GlassTopRX7
      @GlassTopRX7 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not likely because like Jeremy said it's integrated with the stability management system provided your car has one. So the ECM that manages that would manage the shocks as well. I'm pretty sure there are some aftermarket kits that will let you alter the rebound and ride height electronically but it's crude by comparison to what this does. Plus if you going for say track performance there purpose built setups that are going to easily out perform MagneRide. That's part of the reason it's not on the new ZL1 1LE Camaro, it's setup to be track focused vs. the jack of all trades normal ZL1.

    • @jeremywinslow7345
      @jeremywinslow7345 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      GlassTopRX7 it was built with the track in mind... the truth is gm never really got working well.
      If you look at the things both cars try to do the chevy version is terrible. The active exhaust, for one. Also none of the camaros really out did the gt350 in handling, the only reason it had better track times was the 100hp advantage via the supercharger.

    • @GlassTopRX7
      @GlassTopRX7 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not executed well? The GT350R doesn't handle better than the SS 1LE in fact the SS typical post similar if not faster lap times with 70 less HP. The GT350R was on par with the last Z\28, the SS 1LE matches that without all the ride compromises.
      The ZL1 1LE is considerable better better without MagneRide. They've already done head to heads with the GT with MagneRide vs SS 1LE with it and it's not close in handling.
      What does the gimmicky active exhaust have to do with handling anyway? GM's approach to active exhaust is focused on more power and uses a pair of butterfly valves open the exhaust a bit. Fords focus was to quite the car down. The Mustang will always sound better than a LS\LT thanks to that odd firing order GM gave them.

    • @jeremywinslow7345
      @jeremywinslow7345 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      GlassTopRX7 now you are just making crap up... but thats typical. Of few head to head they have done with the new gt and a camaro have all been non performance pack cars.
      Camaro has still yet to win ANY overall head to head with EQUAL speced cars. They want to put super charged cars against non force induction, or a 1le vs a base. You put a fully loaded gt vs a loaded NON SUPER CHARGED camaro and it will lose. The gt350 wrecked the z28 which was it's competition.

    my 2020 Mustang GT has MagneRide (or so it says on the window sticker) after a week with it, I can't tell the difference between modes.. Even getting out in park and pushing on the suspension, I don't feel a difference between modes.
    I had a 2016 Corvette that had MRC, and it was very noticeable between different modes... so I don't know whats up with the Mustang?
    I'm thinking mine isn't working or something? Guess I'll have to take it in.. It rides fine, but seriously not even a slight change between driver modes. (the display - digital dash - even shows the suspension icon and says its in different modes for the suspension but honestly I feel zero difference!)
    (I have to be honest, I'm trying hard not to dislike my new purchase, but my Backup Camera hasn't worked since day 1, various squeaks and rattles all over the place and my suspension doesn't seem to change at all)

    • @Thatguy71771
      @Thatguy71771 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      any update on your purchase? any hard buyers remorse ?

    • @davidcovey3001
      @davidcovey3001 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Thatguy71771 Dealership said my MagneRide is working, although I can't tell the difference at all. It's not noticably stiffer in Track mode compared to any other mode. (the MyMode display shows the shocks are changing to track, sport+, etc.)
      It can be and is a fun car, but given the choice.. No, I wouldn't buy one again, it's too expensive for what you get.. considering the problems. (Yes, buyers remorse for sure!)
      My car is a Fully Loaded 2020 GT 6spd Manual Transmission with every option box checked. (The sticker was $52k.)
      THE GOOD:
      The Car looks amazing, inside and out, just a really awesome looking car. The digital gauges are awesome, and the interior lighting is really cool. The B&O premium audio is top notch... The seats are super comfortable, and the air conditioned seats are amazing on hot summer days in CA. I have the dual mode exhaust, and hands down the exhaust note of this Mustang is the best sounding stock car I've ever owned. It just roars...
      THE BAD:
      The Manual transmission in the GT is straight up *garbage* , it's the worst transmission I've ever experienced. In normal driving, the transmission is fine. It goes nicely into gears without slop or play. Feels nice. Once you push the car however, the transmission fights you to go into gear (especially third). Further, when you come to a stop and put the car into neutral and sit for a second... once you put it back into 1st gear, it will load the rear end and CLUNK into gear 75% of the time. (Matt Ferah on the SmokingTire warned me of this, but I didn't listen, just to realize he was right.)
      The fit and finish of the car *seems* nice, but for a $52k car the interior rattles from everywhere almost non stop! I still need to take it to the dealership for them to fix some of it, but it would be easier to tell them what doesn't rattle than what does. (Basically I'll just tell them, the steering wheel doesn't rattle, everything else does.. good luck fixing it. Headliner buzzes, rear pillars creak and rattle. Dash vents rattles, gauge cluster rattles, passenger door rattles, drivers door rattles, dash in general rattles. I could go on, but you get the picture.)
      Not to mention, yeah my Mustang 5.0 engine has the Type-Writer tick. It started just after my first oil change.. sounds like metal heating up and then cooling down and you get a tick noise, except the car is running. My car as of today has 12k miles on it, and I've now done 3 oil changes. What I've noticed is that, when the oil is fresh the Tick is worse, once the oil is a little old.. it starts going away but is never silent.
      CONCLUSION:
      Yeah, I wouldn't recommend this car to anyone. It looks amazing inside and out, but was obviously put together with the cheapest materials and craftmanship possible. Bean-counters won the fight on this one with their Chinese manual transmission and cheap materials used throughout.. not to mention whatever issue is going on with the Coyote 5.0 engine.

      @@Thatguy71771 Yeah, I hope I'm just in the bad luck category and you get a great car man! Like I said, mine is also a Performance Pack with the premium fully loaded options. The Mustang looks amazing and sounds amazing until it starts rattling over slightly bumpy roads, or unless you can hear the Type-Writer/BBQ ticking (more noticeable in drive thru and garages.. something to bounce the sound off of.. but is easily heard anytime.. hopefully yours won't be like that. Mine was fine until 500 miles and I got it's first oil change.. then the noise started)
      I do hear the 10spd is superior to the Manual transmission (in more ways that one), but that's not to say it doesn't also have issues. Just not as many.
      I'm really not trying to dissuade you from getting the car, it's an awesome ride, it really is.. just if you get a fully loaded one like me, you're easily dropping 50g's and that's a lot of money for an engine that (might) tick, and (might) have trans issues.. and probably will eventually rattle.. lol
      I will tell you this though, when I'm behind the wheel of the car the problems don't seem as bad. When the car is at full roar, the problems seem to disappear. It's only when I'm thinking about it, or just cruising and it starts to rattle when not playing music or something that I'd say it's not worth it. (or listening to it idle in a drive thru... lol)
      Just my 2cents, take from it what you will.. I honestly wish you best of luck with yours if you decide to commit and get it.
      Take it easy man, Good luck!
