Rubio is just another example of someone who prioritizes his life more than playing basketball in his older years. Respect him for that, he doesn't have anything to prove.
Rodney hood is another one he's always been a solid role player/6th man type but that achilles injury early in the 2019-20 season took away his career it looks like
As a Cavs fan, Rubio was instrumental in many cavalanches in those first months of 2021-2022. He was doing amazing things (I still remember his 8 3-pointer game against the Knicks), and he and Love were doing a great job leading the second unit. Following the injury, his 2022-2023 performances lacked the spark he had the previous year. Now, Love is gone, and I think that injury is it for Rubio. I would have loved to have seen what the triple tower system (Mobley, Allen, Markkanen) with a healthy Rubio could have done in a full season.
The case of Kendrick Nunn shows how many players actually come and go in the NBA, because on one hand he was ballin' just a few seasons ago like you said, and on the other hand i actually forgot about him and he hasn't been out of the league long. I hope he gets another shot. I hope all of these guys do
Agree. I also think it shows how injuries that aren't necessarily considered super serious in regular folks' lives can absolutely kill a career that depends on quickness and explosiveness.
Kendrick Nunn was the first example of Heat Devil Magic (random ass role players going off every game) . We didn’t know what was happening back then but we are informed now.
John Wall's story really makes me sad man. Me being from the DMV, Wall was like a superhero to me growing up. It was cool to have an arguably top 10 player play for your hometown team and he was very invested in the community here. Wish injuries wouldn't have ruined his career
Some of these guys are suffering from a bit of what some traditional Centers have gone through recently. Teams have less of a need for a PG if he can’t guard other (or any) positions really, shoot really well consistently or have a specialty some sort. The position is becoming slightly less important. For example when you have a Luka, LeBron, Booker and other bigger bodies handling PG duties, why would I need two small PGs on my team? A lot of teams are getting away with just one. Some don’t have any. Again, it all depends on the offense and why defenders they have but, almost none of these guys mentioned have one super special talent that makes up for being “small” and average. This is a business after all. Kyrie is smallish. Not a great defender. But, he’s obviously on a very different tier from these guys mentioned. 🤷🏽♂️
Curry still cooking. Although he is not exactly a PG in traditional sense. Plus he is a rare breed generational talent. But, yeah, nowadays playmaking duty have been taking over by bigger guys.
The thing with undersized Guards they're only worth it when they're fully capable health wise and obviously talented. Especially undersized guards who rely on their elite quickness/explosiveness. They can't afford to have lower extremity injuries that zap their overall athleticms even 20-25 percent.
I like Payton’s game, but he moves a step too slow and is not bouncy. His shooting being as poor as it is makes this unacceptable in the NBA. But in a foreign league where everyone is a little less athletic, he will ball out. I also think he could coach in the NBA someday if he wants to.
i think Chicago can use Wall. i mean yeah he can’t shoot but a floor general like lonzo was could at least be decent and they look like they might blow it up soon anyway.
When elfrid payton or as we called him the mop was traded to suns during a deadline trade to finish the season, booker got injured and whoever else was there at the time maybe tj warren and for theast 2 3 weeks of the season Payton played out of his mind He got picked up out of the waivers and helped get 1 of of the guys out of the playoff race in our yearly fantasy league with 2 strong weeks and he stole the 6th spot, and in the 1st round he put up like 200 points and had like 3 triple doubles in 4 games 2nd round he put up liken 160 through 3 games maybe with 2 triple doubles but then the magic ran out as he only had 2 games in the finals but i think he still put up like 75 85, which for 2 games from a waiver guy is way more then expected if he had 1 more game this guy woulda won the league with a hail mary waiver pickup from a 4th option PG
Elfrid Payton was so bad that postseason for the Knicks. Thibs would start him and then yank him after a few mins for Derek Rose, who would then stay in for practically the entire game
As a lakers (and heat) fan, i was sad to see how just one season ending injury completely hindered KNunn's career especially after that Miami finals run. He didn't look the same after coming back from the injury on the lakers and was traded away
If Rubio cares about his mental health AND wants to play, theres an easy solution. It just doesnt involve the NBA. Go play in Spain! Everyone will treat him as a hero and a savior, because of hes national team career, even if he now plays two minutes per game.
Never forget first time I heard about Rubio. I was in high school and I read in slam magazine he was the best 15 year old in world lol I was so offended as hooper because I've never heard of him lol
Really didn't understand the hate Ricky Rubio got throughout his entire career people say he's a bust but I totally disagree. His greatest skill translated very well into the league and he played 10+ years in the league and is productive everywhere he goes so I wouldn't say he's a bust
to sum it up, players that no NBA team wants have only themselves to blame. If Brook Lopez can train his 3 pointer, why cant any other players do the same? Its just whether they are willing to put in effort to train more.
It be some guards that you think it’s no way they won’t be good in the NBA…. And then they just struggle to fit in and are out of the league. I thought Johnny Flynn was a can’t miss prospect
Nunn didn't just miss an entire year "due to a knee injury" he missed an entire year due to a bone bruise. Lets call it what it was. He was paid $5 mil to sit court side in LA.
used to go crazy with payton on 2k with the underrated and non popular magic. Nunn is not a veteran in the nba. Why is everyone a vet after 2 to 3 years😂
Point guards ? You mean older players In general Blake PF, Dwight C Carmelo , Demarcus , Jabari Parker players who was dominant won’t even get a 10 day contract most guards are decent but it’s already to much of them in league
neither improved at all and were on great teams where they 100% shouldve improved and on bad teams where they had extensive PT to improve if they needed PT over following by example. they both lucky to last as long as they did. pause

The most impactful thing Payton ever did in the NBA was cutting his hair
FR
I remember when it basically went viral 😂
Say what you will about Payton, but he helped me win my fantasy league with his Jack of all trades but with low ass ceiling. 😂
Rodney hood is another one he's always been a solid role player/6th man type but that achilles injury early in the 2019-20 season took away his career it looks like
Still remembering How good he was in Jazz dammn.
And the fact he went against LeBron on Cavs

bro i forgot about kendrick nunn
Yeah LA did him bogish asl
@@Skooter88what you mean. He injured himself and was never healthy when he came back.
Coz hé suckedd
@@DannyMozart24 he was healthy later on with the lakers tho.
😭😭😭 system player. Miami helps dudes and they switch up for the opps ..he’s another white side
Kendrick Nunn was the first example of Heat Devil Magic (random ass role players going off every game) . We didn’t know what was happening back then but we are informed now.
Devil magic 😂
Hassan Whiteside was really the first, dude came outta nowhere with them and fell off after he left them
Do this for rest of the 4 position. Just an idea if you wan't
One of the things that hurt Kendrick Nunn was being a 25yr old rookie. Obviously still very young but had little time to be developed further
I only remember Elfrid Payton because of..."The Hair."
Statistically speaking - isn't it harder and harder after each draft to maintain a job as an NBA player?
I mean rookies come in and u have players retiring or getting older and getting less minutes so i would say it levels out
Payton was not a contributor as a starter with my Knicks lmao we hated him
I wonder if Gabe Vincent will be on this list in the future.
As a heat fan. Yes, he will
@@ice8ergyeah gabe Vincent is terrible

The sad tragedy of Wall, Rose, etc not getting rings n stuff yeah sucked how they fall off 😢

PG is probably to most stacked position on the NBA. It makes sense that a lot of good players fall put of favour quickly... such is life.

John isn't coming back to the wizards because of the situation that led to the trade. The relationship was kind of fractured at that point.
Always loved your content! Hope you're back for the season.
This is a bonus for us! 2 uploads for this week hehe
If I'm those guards, I wouldn't worry about the nba. I'll play wherever I'm welcomed.
Nunn is a more successful (basketball wise) Johnny Flynn. Both had massive potential but early injuries ruined them.
Nunn was literally undrafted, Flynn was in the top half of the lottery
There's no comparison between Flynn and Nunn
Even though Rubio has stepped away from basketball for the time being, he is still on the Cavs roster
Man, Elfrid is unrecognizable to me without that hairstyle he used to have.

That a great trivia question who finished second in ROY voting behind Ja I bet even the hardest NBA fans wouldn’t have guessed K Nunn
Yea especially crazy when he wasn’t even playing better than Herro to begin with…
i feel like Wall is still a NBA player. he doesn't want to go to D.C because he thinks he can still contribute to a contender, which i agree with.
Nunn was a beast 2020 bubble but pufff he vanished due to a bone bruise
He didn’t even play in the playoff he did play in the finals since Miami was hurt.
I love your vids Caine glad I never left
Elfrid Payton was so bad that postseason for the Knicks. Thibs would start him and then yank him after a few mins for Derek Rose, who would then stay in for practically the entire game
I believe elfrid payton hairdo affected his shot view early in his career.
He should have been yanked no later than mid-season.
As a lakers (and heat) fan, i was sad to see how just one season ending injury completely hindered KNunn's career especially after that Miami finals run. He didn't look the same after coming back from the injury on the lakers and was traded away
Ricky Rubio always got traded to a bad team, when his previous bad team is showing signs of getting back on track.

Probably the only time ive ever heard an american say our teams name correctly, bravo
Nunn couldn’t stay healthy
If Rubio cares about his mental health AND wants to play, theres an easy solution. It just doesnt involve the NBA.
Go play in Spain! Everyone will treat him as a hero and a savior, because of hes national team career, even if he now plays two minutes per game.
You didn't mention Kemba Walker who still 32 years old and is actually a very good PG.
Never forget first time I heard about Rubio. I was in high school and I read in slam magazine he was the best 15 year old in world lol I was so offended as hooper because I've never heard of him lol
Knicks fan reporting in that's why I haven't seen Payton can't lie I haven't missed him since we got brunson I haven't looked back
Guard spots are very competitive in the modern league. It's even hard to not "snub" certain guys for All Star selections.
Really didn't understand the hate Ricky Rubio got throughout his entire career people say he's a bust but I totally disagree. His greatest skill translated very well into the league and he played 10+ years in the league and is productive everywhere he goes so I wouldn't say he's a bust

You thought wrong that’s how I know you don’t have an eye for talent
Rubio just retired today! Damn how fast time flies by.
Ive loved rubio since day one and always will
K nunn is a real baller. Miami gave up on him so early
Rubio peaked 1st year in CAVs, sadly he got injured 😐
Yo Kendrick could come play here in Australia in the NBL. He would be a superstar and would move to a country that somewhat speaks english
I always liked Payton. Wish he would’ve got that jump shot going
whatever happened to brandon knight, havent seen him in years.
Kendrick Nunn needs to go sign back with Miami. They have very little guard depth and could afford to take a shot on their former rookie.
Nunn didn't just miss an entire year "due to a knee injury" he missed an entire year due to a bone bruise. Lets call it what it was. He was paid $5 mil to sit court side in LA.
As a Knicks fan, I do not hope that Payton comes back
Payton was drafted as elite defender, but his defense in nba was always dogshit. And ofc, he never developed any sort of jumpshot from any range.
Wall made a lot of money while injured , the league not trying to pay him no more
The fact that were even mentioning Elfred Peyton when we know the exact reason he’s not in the NBA anymore because he can’t shoot
I thought Rubio was still signed to the Cavs?
Nunn wasnt the same post injury
Elfrid Payton is a good player I'm surprised noone wanted him
No Kemba?
crazy from undrafted to rookie runner up sheesh
First you say 6ft2, than it goes to 6ft3...and if not mistaking, he is 6ft5
used to go crazy with payton on 2k with the underrated and non popular magic. Nunn is not a veteran in the nba. Why is everyone a vet after 2 to 3 years😂
Love Rubio. Hope he’s doing well.
We didn’t forget him. Welcome to Panathinaikos Mr. Nunn form chi town

Nunn got injured tho before he even got to LA he missed the entire season and came back and wasn't the same player anymore
so does anyone remember Allonzo Trier?
He was a smaller Cam Thomas those type of players would last longer if they learned to playmake more
Kendrick never plays and was average for the wizards
Rubio is a pro. So he'll make a team of he wanted it
isaiah canaan needs a nba look
Why wouldn’t a chAmpionship team like the lakers bucks nuggets pick up John wall?
I feel like John wall could do damage on the suns
As a suns fan.... payton shouldnt have been in the league anyways
John Wall mentally has never been injured so he still thinks he is a superstar in a league that doesn’t shoot as much threes.
wall needs to be on a team man
Jon wall should get another contract.
Signing with the Lakers…..welp that did it
Most of these guys prolly will come back to the league as backups
Didn’t Wall get 100 million from the wizards?
Show some respect for John wall he’s a legend
John wall was athletic player. Once his athleticism faded, he dropped off
He was balling on the lakers. But as usual, he was traded by GM Lebron lol
Elfird peyton will always be my guy
neither improved at all and were on great teams where they 100% shouldve improved and on bad teams where they had extensive PT to improve if they needed PT over following by example. they both lucky to last as long as they did. pause
Nun stayed on lakers bench injured and necer came back. Same happened in the heat.
Had no choice but to Dust off Derrick rose that’s wild 😂😂😂💀💀😭😭
Kemba walker
Reason why so many talented players have no contract is MONEY... they play because of MONEY
Lesson learned: Don't join the lakers or your career will be ruined
