Lawyers have a duty to give a "zealous defense." I hate it, especially having been the foster mom being attacked in court by a parent's lawyer (many years ago), but it's absolutely the right thing for her to do. She absolutely has to defend her client's best interest as zealously as possible, which she is doing.

I LOVE that judge addressed the girls' hair! It may seem like a petty thing to some people, but ethnic hair needs different care. I also loved how the kids lawyer didn't down talk the parents. I was actually shocked by a lot of this. 99% of these cases seems like it's mom and dad vs everyone. This was refreshing.

Because the guardian ad litem has the kids best interest. That’s their job CPS has their own interests. For example. The worker wasn’t worried about the baby being able to pull furniture down on herself or have a diaper rash so bad the judge is all cringed but the things that had her so concerned was that the father brought junk food, stayed past his busy time and didn’t wash his hands 😂 JS. I’m not saying these parents aren’t bad parents but just going on the testimony of this part, it seemed so messed up. She didn’t finish her parenting plan but they never set up the stuff they had to do for her to do it. They are 100 percent trying to permanently keep those kids no matter what the parents do, and the guardian for the child is trying to make sure the parents do all they are suppose to with the hopes of unification.

Ketterman is a NASTY woman. There’s no reason to speak to the CPS worker like that. She’s not concerned that the mother is a drug addict who doesn’t have custody of either of the 3 children. I’ve had stair step little ones before. If they’re sick like that and they’re all so small, diaper rash is a given. Stomach bugs are a given. I wonder what they’d have if they were with the parents??? This situation exists not because of the worker or of the poor foster mother who’s willing to take three tiny kids. It’s the responsibility of drug addicted, irresponsible parents. 🤦‍♀️

Does anybody else find it? Absolutely ridiculous that the mother's attorney is acting like the foster family is somehow unfit even though her client had her children removed by CPS for obviously being unfit? Obviously the biological mother and father have drug problems, and violence issues. Yet this attorney's going to see here and act like her client is holier than thou? She keeps harping on about the children being sick. News flash lady, kids get sick! And obviously the foster parents have taken those children to see the doctor when they were sick. I do agree that there is definitely an oversight issue in the foster system and that many children are neglected and abused because there just aren't enough dedicated case workers, proper and loving foster homes, or in fact money given to children/social services in order to improve things. With this said and although these are disgusting and egregious cases in which innocent young children died due to faults directly made by case workers, Takoda Collins, Adrian Jones and Gabriel Fernandez didn't die in foster care but were instead abused and murdered by their own parents and their parents' partners. Let that be you and see if “everything is good with no concerns” bc I promise if something falls on your child ; and it’s a complete accident, you are being way to nice to think that you will not have CPS there at the hospital and
Have your child taken at minimum of a 72 hour hold until it can be taken to a judge- the dr is a mandatory reporter as is other positions- teacher etc - and I have never heard of 1 single
Parent that has just gotten the child back and not been taken down a long long road that is designed against you - it’s not made for you to get them back- don’t believe it- think have you ever heard of them going back to ANY parent at the first hearing? Yes I understand that they need to be there for some childern they save there life but also they are not God and perfect so what about the times they “get it wrong “? Think of it from that angle, thank goodness for the times they do get it right but what damage is done to those children for the times they and the court get it wrong? God bless you if your poor or just the average person who works just to live and have lights water food etc paycheck to paycheck like most of us do - if you haven’t dealt with this situation please take time and thank the man above or Lady Luck or whoever you believe in because you have been very very blessed

No one made her a drug addict but herself! DCF has hands tied until mom gets her chit together! In the meantime, if I were a lawyer, I'd be filing for IMMEDIATE termination of parental rights. She chose to have a baby but then chose drugs. The child/ren have a greater right.. TO HAVE A RESPONSIBLE parent/s. Drug addiction is a CHOICE!

My question is, how does a piece of bed fall on a child? A bed that is already put together and set up (mattress, frame, headboard) doesn't have pieces. I agree with the attorney, the way this likely happened is from the foster mom getting a new bed and putting the bed together, like attaching the headboard to the bedframe, maybe; and pieces were leaning up against a wall perhaps while she was putting it together and the baby pulled it down or climbed up to it and grabbed ahold of it. I'd have safety concerns too if that was my child. Every parent or caregiver should already be aware that you don't do chores around the house and leave a baby or 2-year old to wander around the house without supervision.

All lawyers must zealously represent their clients, but what attorney Julie Ketterman was doing was just trying to put on a show and intimidate the CPS worker. In my opinion, the CPS lawyer should have been jumping in and objecting to her badgering the witness. She was slanting the questions to make it look like the CPS worker wasn’t doing her job, but the mom is in in-patient drug rehab. Even if some of those things had been set up, the mom couldn’t do it because she is in rehab.
It seems like the mom’s attorney has her own personal agenda with respect to CPS that might be clouding her representation in my opinion.

The sickness was there long before this placement. They've been sick for months, and are improving in the new placement. Children on antibiotics and who are struggling with illness will often have terrible rashes as a result. I do agree there were concerns, but they were addressed. Then you WOULDN'T let her visit those babies especially an infant while sick? If You think of the children's first well just a mom's smell helps with babies heart rates, O2 levels, breathing control. I'm sorry if I sound over the top but I've seen a lot of babies saved by a moms touched snuggles & heart beat, Also a few moms were under arrest or bond on the NICU so to say she couldn't see them cause she didn't do things that would take weeks & because the kids wa so sick>>>> Really this is the best they got those babies deserved to see a friendly face like mom when they were so terribly sick at infant,1 & 2 yr old Not to mention did they ask for a postpartum evaluation those are really really close ages for a mom who could be struggling ughhhh!

It's painful and it's hard work. If you then finish up the day and spend time with babies and kids? Nah ah. Bad idea. There are too many situations where children are harmed in foster care and cps isn't exactly motivated to investigate it because they don't want to be held responsible. If parents can’t do certain things bc it’s not set up yet, that really isn’t the fault of the parents. And if a parent is required to provide gainful
Employment and housing AND do things that contradict that ability it’s kind of hard to do.
One thing I know for sure is it’s a whole lot better to just be a good and stable, safe parent bc being looked at through a microscope would suck!! Let’s just be real here, every parent makes mistakes and we all do things to make life work for our home and individual kids and collective family. Sometimes we even do things we sure are glad we don’t have someone watching us for and if not, either that’s a lie or ya haven’t been parenting long enough lol. I’ve totally broken (not ripped) a rubber band out of my child’s hair and there’s been a knot of hair in it but that wasn’t pulled out of my child’s scalp, it was in the rubber band which is why I just break them and toss. I’d hate to be judged for that 😂
Again just playing devils advocate here bc I realize these parents have drug and other issues but man… did furniture fall on their baby’s head in their care? I’m just saying that standards should be held evenly and I don’t think this worker is as non bias toward the parents as she should be.
OH and cheap diapers absolutely so leak faster than better diapers! Doesn’t mean you don’t change the diapers when needed but those dollar store dipes are awful. Ok off my soapbox now ❤😂

The fact she was 90 days sober at least says something. I understand the services and timeline.
