Mega Man was released in 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Developed by Capcom, the series caught on so much with its rage-inducing difficulty and incredible soundtracks that they were able to not only create 9 other sequels to the classic formula - but also create dozens of other games in spin-off forms. Mega Man X for the SNES, Battle Network for the GBA, Legends for the PS1 - and this isn't even including the Gameboy remakes, PSP remakes (Powered Up especially) and everything else Mega Man related. He's even appeared in Smash Bros since then. And now Caddicarus is going to try and review all the classic series, at least, with the versions available on PC / PS4 / Xbox One / Nintendo Switch known as The Mega Man Legacy Collection, and then there's the Mega Man Anniversary Collection. If he didn't have save features, he probably would be crying right now. He thought this would be easy and here he is just counting with his carpel-tunnel hands how he only made it through Mega Man 1, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, and Mega Man 4 in just this video. 22:44 Fun fact: Mega Man III was rushed and unfinished. The lack of an intro, the flickering and slowdown, the glitch on the select screen, the spam attacks, the Mega Man 1-level bullshit? Wasn't intentional. Keiji Inafune has even gone on record and said it's his least favorite NES Mega Man game.
One way to fix the slow down is to play the Legacy Collection on Nintendo Switch and use the Turbo CPU.

so megaman 1-10 does have 78 robot masters to defeat. But counting the 2 from Powered Up (Time Man and Oil Man) and the new batch of 8 robots from 11, the number is bumped up to 88.

Normal mode in Mega Man 2 is an easier mode added to the American version. In essence, normal mode is a disguised easy mode only there because Capcom of America thought it was would be too hard in its regular difficulty.

the original forces you to use Magnet beam in Wily 1, 3 makes you use Rush Coil and Jet in the fortress, and I think 9 forces you to use concrete shot in the fortress stages

Just to let you know, the "Normal" difficulty of Mega Man 2 was invented for the American release. The Japanese release of the game only had the "Difficult" mode.
Also: while they do work, Metal Blades are actually the worst weapon to use against Wood Man (that work at all) other than the Mega Buster. Sure, four weapons are completely ineffective against him, but the Crash Bomber kills him easiest, Air Shooter kills him fastest, and Atomic Fire (his official weakness) in the fewest hits. Sure, if you have none of those, go ahead and use the Metal Blade; I'm just sayin'.

I swear Mega Man's music is so good.
Mega Man and Sonic are two series I can think of where even if the game itself isn't so great at least the music is enjoyable by itself (okay save for Sonic Boom on the Wii U, the music in that game was just incredibly average, at least Sonic 06 gave us stuff like His World and Dreams of an Absolution).
If I was going to make a song, I'd probably use the Megaman or Sonic sound font

Mega man and bass is only hard if you play it on the GBA, with its terrible resolution and so so little of the screen shown at any one time, plus on the original model GBA the lack of back-light makes things impossible to see on it sometimes. The super famicom version is fine though, its not any harder than mega man 2

Back when I was a tyke and the Wii Shop Channel was still open, I bought Mega Man 1 not knowing how hard that one is. It was hell. I still don't know how I beat that game without any save states outside of returning where I left off.
I think Mega Man 1 easy when you play it a lot. I beat it without save states. 0 death run. No pause glitch.
Gamechamp3K beat Mega Man 1 and 2 without taking damage.
It's really not that hard. I just got the games and started with 1, and beat it within a day, with only 1 use of the pause trick (yellow devil). No saving was used.

He'll shoot two firewalls first and if you manage to dodge that and then shoot him he'll shoot one firewall then jump shoot and he'll shoot a firewall rinse-and-repeat. But if you spam he'll shoot more firewalls

To be honest, I just can't help but have the feeling Megaman 3 is kinda lazy. Like, it's not a bad game, but it is less polished than 2, that's for sure.

It’s a shame that this is true, but run it on an emulator. It plays really really good. To the point that 3 is actually my favorite in the series, the couple of graphics glitches my ROM just seems to have aside.

Dude I speedrun the first one (by far the shortest in the series), I have almost all of the tricky parts down to a science, including and especially the Yellow Devil fight which I know like the back of my hand at this point, and I still struggle to get bellow 30 minutes on a perfect run

Fire Man's pattern is that he walks to a specific distance away from you, and then shoots a Fire Storm projectile. The Fire Storm also leaves a Fire Bit where you were standing when it passed by you. Fire Man will also attack when you do. This means that Fire Man will never attack if you are too close to him and never hit the attack button. However, if you never attack him, he'll never die, so the safest point to attack him is when you would be jumping over him anyways, immediately after he turns around when he hits a wall, patrolling his room trying to get far enough away from you.
This is a wonderful analysis of a great classic series. Excellent job, Caddy! Kudos to you for not using the rewind feature, too. It's so tempting!

I also really like it. And there is a romhack Mega Man 3 Ultimate that fixes many of the problems the vanilla version had therefore it is the definitive version of Mega Man 3 in my opinion.

The developer actually don't consider the game finished and made to release in a unfinished state, which probably explains all the slow down, graphical glitches and Rush Jet being broken.
Except half the things Caddy is complaining about *don't exist in the original release.* They are problems caused by the Legacy Collection version.

Play the Mega Man 3 Ultimate romhack. It rebalances and improves the levels (Doc Robot and Dr Wily) and better cutscenes! Much like the Zero Project for Mega Man X3, Mega Man 3 Ultimate is the definitive version of the game.
