Im just throwing this out there as my guess as to why (although I have no idea more than anyone else) but maybe the reason it has 5 spawn points instead of the usual 6 is because when they reworked the map to be space opera themed in season 4, maybe someone touched on them then? Again, idk but that's my guess.

in OW1 the spawn points were placeholders until they weren't, and deathmatch was, like, intentionally unbalanced. then during OW2's development, Bobby Kotick had the devs working eighty hour weeks on dumb shit that (surprise!) turned out not to be fun, and not a soul remembers how those spawn points got there. oh, and then they were fired after the merger

As a QA lead (for a completely unrelated industry) your vids are always fun to watch. It also shows how beneficial a good QA team can be. Either these were caught and the devs said, "F*CK IT! WE'LL DO IT LIVE!!!" or the QA team was never assigned to look for these types of issues. I am thinking it is the former and it has never been any sort of issue.
Always found it weird how I'd always respawn in different places or how symmetrical maps felt different from either side. Thank you, marble man for your scientific data and your triumphant return
This was rather intriguing I must admit. The instance of Colosseo's spawns could be the explanation for why I always see the side with the spawn advantage managing to hold the bot in overtime for ridiculous amounts of time while the other side I rarely see overtime last long.
I really wish you would’ve talked about flashpoint spawns. I’ve felt before that the spawns aren’t fair and getting one point and then the opposite team getting placed right next to the next spawn and your team having to walk across the map has always drove me crazy
An idea for a video, if you're interested: I've noticed that Kiriko's "Kitsune Rush Assists" stat seems to be weirdly inflated, in that a single use of Kitsune Rush will sometimes result in more assists than there are enemy players to get assists on in the first place. My current theory is that it counts an assist for each teammate that contributed to the kill, but then that leaves the question of why is Kitsune Rush the only ability that counts assists in this way? (Or if it's not, what other abilities do?)
I noticed that too and yeah I think the same thing, if your teammates participate in the same kill it inflates assists. Cool to know someone else noticed this

Assists are more of status effect related. Either a positive effect for your teammate such as damage boost or nano...or a negative one towards the enemy such as sleeping and bleed. I've noticed how kill/elim counts are never accurate as well. I've mentioned it to a few streamers about elims not being accurate but I'm pretty much dismissed on it. But yeah, like someone mentioned earlier, if 3 people attacked an enemy, then those 3 will get an elim count instead of the final blow player getting an elim and the other 2 would get an assist like in other games.
I've had my friend tell me that kitsune assists just come from hitting enemies during kitsune rather than assisting on a kill, which makes sense with how nothing can happen during my terrible kitsunes but I can still gain like 30 assists in a game.
Sometimes the random spawn decides what door is faster to leave from. This is important for heroes like Lucio that do different rollouts out of each door, even if the doors are parallel to each other.
something else to mention is rollouts. there are a lot of maps with geometry in the spawn room that are used for rollouts, which you can't reach as smoothly/quickly depending on your spawn room. as a lucio main ive noticed it alot, especially in rialto 2nd point attack where you can't smoothly line up for the narrow part and makes it much harder to do the ideal rollout for it

I always found the rollouts seemed ever so slightly off depending on team selection and people just told me that I was just spawning in a different spot and that nothing changes between the teams- but I WAS RIGHT! Thank you, that drove me insane when I used to play overwatch.
