    Sorry for not talking during portions of the reaction, with the lag issues, I knew talking would be causing more issues. A great episode regardless!

    Procrustes really dropped the most banger line at the beginning "Fitting's not easy for guys like us, am I right? Our parents make it so hard. Stretching us, and twisting us and hacking off pieces to make us seem more like them"
    Like...give whichever screenwriter wrote that an award. That was great and it connected so well with Sally's conversation with Poseidon about how she wanted a different/better experience for Percy where the gods wouldn't force him to fit their image. The fact that Poseidon cared enough to respect her wishes and wait for the right time to interfere was a really nice touch as well

      @Agamemnon2 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Agree. I actually thought they would cut the Procrustes scene from the script entirely since it doesn't factor into the trio's progress in the book that much, but the dialogue really linked it together with the main plot nicely.

    Sally's actor is incredible. She looked absolutely *crushed* in her scenes. I loved seeing her conversation with Poseidon, too!! This is all new to the show because the books are told from Percy's first person POV so he obviously wouldn't know about Sally's emotional turmoil about the whole situation. Fantastic addition to the show

    Hades offered them a pomegranate juice, nice little detail. (Persephone was stuck in underworld for having consumed a grain of pomegranate)
    And she is not there with Hades because it's summer. (not like in the films)
    Thank you for your reaction.

      To be fair tho, at that moment a divine war was hb to break out on th surface that would certainly have razed th world to th ground, so it makes sense that persephone remained in th underworld to protect herself, it's sense of self-preservation. Even in th 5th book of th 1st series she n demeter remain in th underworld w/ hades even if it's summer, to avoid ending up in th xfire in th fight btw th gods on 1 side and chronos n typhoon on th other

    This is my favorite episode of the series thus far. Even with all of the awesome action going on in the Underworld, the flashbacks with Percy and his parents were the emotional anchor to the story. Can’t wait for next weeks finale, and awesome reaction as always Chainsaw! 🔱

    The fields of asphodel were done so well in my opinion! It’s not what I was picturing in my head reading the books but the underworld is split into different sections for the dead in both the books and Greek mythology : Tartarus for those who were really bad, Elysium for those who did many heroic acts in their lifetime and asphodel for everyone kind of in between who was neither really good nor really bad

    • @QuibbleTrouble
      @QuibbleTrouble 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      Tartarus is more for monsters and such, the fields of punishment is the place for bad people.

    • @Gradestar10
      @Gradestar10 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In th books th asphodel meadows are an infinite meadow of tall gray grass, w/ just a few patches of black poplars scattered w/in it. In th show it almost seems like they mixed th asphodel prairies w/ that part of dante's hell where th souls of suicides are transformed into dry trees. Perhaps th fact that cerberus was hunting them in th forest is also a lil nod to that part of dante's work

    • @Gradestar10
      @Gradestar10 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@QuibbleTrouble in classical period evil souls ended up in tartarus. Riordan was inspired for his books by th version of th myth of th roman poet virgil, who was th 1 who invented th fields of punishment as th final destination of sinners n th river styx as th border btw th kingdom of th dead n th world of th living

    • @QuibbleTrouble
      @QuibbleTrouble 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Gradestar10 That's kind of true, Virgil's underworld was the most detailed written version of the underworld, so that was likely where Riordan got most aspects of his version, but this was about book lore not classical greek mythology. Also there were many versions of the underworld in greece, so it's difficult to make direct statements of fact about the "original" version.

    I like how the flashback portrayed in the present because Percy felt like he failed but rose up to fight Ares.

    Watching this series has been so great, cause I’ve read the books but it’s been almost a decade so I really don’t remember much. So I can’t tell what was added just for the show until it’s in the moment and it hits me “This doesn’t seem familiar”. But some changes are more obvious, like Ares liking to pick fights on Twitter, which wasn’t even around when the book was first published but was still a hilarious and great addition. Can’t wait to see how they end the season.

    Next episode will be around 43 min I think but at least 40+ minutes! If season 2 do get greenlit, I expect the writers and Disney will take the criticism about the short episodes into consideration because the writers have been super open about the process (being on interviews, podcasts, social media etc). Great reactions and I think we're all super excited for the finale episode!!

    I'm honestly surprised they kept Procrustes in the adaptation. Not that I didn't enjoy his part in the book, just kinda expected that to be one of the things to be left out of the show.

    No, someone stole Hades`s "Helm of Darkness" and used it to turn Invisible so they could steal The Master Bolt.

    • @WarGrowlmon18
      @WarGrowlmon18 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, using the Helm to steal the bolt is unique to the show, but it's true that someone stole both. All of the clues are already there as to who the Thief actually is.

    Its kinda funny because Hollywood has ruined hade image because in greek mythology he is not evil more like neutral if a demigod ask for help he will help bro just want to be left alone for example Hercules went to the underworld and ask for Cerberus and all hade ask him to do is bring back unharmed 😂
