3:34 honestly this episode being set in the underworld made having less of the budget put into Lotus Casino totally worth it. The whole episode looks phenomenal! I also have a feeling that next episode also used a ton of budget to make sure the choreographing and CGI for Ares/Percy fight looks amazing
@@nerddoctors yeah 🙃 hoping that with Disney’s new show runner policy changes and consolidating their streaming services that they actually make seasons that are normal length (12-18 episode range)
This episode was really great. It’s been unfortunate to see all the negativity about the series considering how passionate the cast and crew have been about the series. Not to mention that changes haven’t been detrimental to the overall story arc so all the vitriol is just maddening to see. Other than that, I’ve been loving the show and I’m hoping they get season two. They deserve it despite what people think.
I couldn’t agree more It’s wild to me that some people are mad about changes or certain parts of the story being changed a little since Uncle Rick is literally running it and the lead writer. He’s even shared in interviews that there are some things in the story that he looked back on and wanted to change as he’s grown as a writer since that series. But I also can see some of the feedback from fans combined with the phenomenal cast and crew helping make the show even more amazing than it already is! I’m so stoked to see them do more
@@hambram21 Yeah, people thinking that someone like Rick would squander the opportunity to make the best adaptation of his own story is…hilarious. What author would do that? Not to mention, no adaptation is 1:1 of the original work. Things will need to be changed/cut for TV. The only critiques that I agree with are run times (which the creators have no control over) and sometimes pacing (can be corrected in upcoming seasons.) All the other stuff is just people wanting to be mad.
I swear I was so confused in that scene. I watched it with mandarin subtitles (I’m from Taiwan) and the translation was literally “invisible hat” when Hades said Helm. The whole time I was shocked and confused with the thought of “did Annabeth stole the bolt?!?!?!”🤯
@@GalaxyGeeks No, that's a gift from her mother. It's powers are limited, they don't work on the gods. Only the Helm can grant full invisibility. In The Chalice of the Gods, Grover said that the best that the hat could do was maybe make Percy uninteresting to the Olympians. It didn't work: Athena saw through it, but she chose to help Percy anyways, much to his surprise, because she was apparently finally starting to accept that Percy is her daughter's boyfriend for the long haul.
One of the things that was changed was the Thief using the Helm to steal the Bolt. In the book, the Thief simply took them both at the same time on the Winter Solstice when they were just sitting unguarded in the Throne Room. Apparently, Zeus' security just sucks.
In The Chalice of the Gods, Percy sneaks into Zeus' brunch for Rhea which is attended by a number of minor gods and half of the Olympian Council and it's in Zeus's personal palace. Percy gets in with the help of a distraction from Grover, Annabeth's Cap (which can at best just make him seem uninteresting to the more major gods according to Grover) and Zeus's kitchen staff. Zeus never even knew that he was there. Athena saw him, but she chose to help Percy rather than expose him, much to Percy's shock as the goddess has made it VERY clear in the past just how much she doesn't like and distrusts her daughter's boyfriend.
In the book Percy doesn't put it all together until after his encounter on the beach with Ares and it just involves him guessing that it was Kronos to Poseidon. I like how they spelled it out more throughoughly here.
didn't realize until this ep how much we needed the Sally/Poseidon backstory in the books and then we just never got it. I mean, we're talking about a love story that was SO strong, it made Poseidon break the promise with his brothers to not have any more children with mortals. He risked it all for this woman!
The scene with the winged shoes hints at the true identity of the Lightning Thief. Yeah Kronos was responsible for it, but he didn't steal it directly.
TBF, since the book series is told from Percy's POV, it is possible that Sally did communicate with Poseidon after Percy was born, but Percy wouldn't know about it. And he does say that he has a memory of Poseidon's smile, though his mother dismissed it.
it’s one of the things that I love about the TV series. They’ve been able to add in so much like the Poseidon/Sally scene, Grover with Augustus, Grover with Mr D and Chiron which we wouldn’t have had in the book because it’s all in Percy’s perspective, they just add so much ❤
Great episode! The kingdom of hell is beautiful! Hades and Poseidon were characterized well as characters! I'm liking all the gods introduced in the series!
Yeah Hades here is closer to mythology Hades. However, he IS changed from the book where he's bitter, stressed, overworked and kind of a jerk. But nevertheless he's actually one of the better gods in the series.
Percy's gonna be back to the Underworld in the future all right. There's Percy, Thalia and Nico versus Iapetus/Bob, Percy taking a dip in the River Styx and of course who could forget Percy and Annabeth's Tartarus Vacation???
This is a good ep! my only complaint is that (again) they cut the action scene short, the scene with crusty tho i wish its longer and the scene where they enter a place where charon just stands there bored with so many dead ppl who can’t get in to the underworld i kinda wanted to see that but never mind. Oh and i wish hades was more scary tho 😂 and like not just stand there watching them gone with the pearls i kinda wish he would go angry at some point that would be cool lol. And i thought they would address that the furries were sent to catch them on hades’s order because he thought his helmet was with them. The sally and poseidon talks my favourite scene.
To be fair, this version of Hades is actually much more mythologically accurate: in mythology, he's generally just a guy doing a job, not some angry and nefarious Disney villain.
@@WarGrowlmon18 well yeah i’m not saying he’s supposed to be a lunatic villain, i mean like, he’s a scary god, even to his own son nico. And in the book hades is pretty temperamental more emotional and pretty hard to handle.
12:20 yes the helm of darkness was also missing in the book! And fun fact - the production design was made by Dan Hennah who also worked on the lord of the rings movies as a production designer! Probably the reason why the underworld looks so good!
I liked this show, actually I have liked the entire series, but I am a book reader, where I read every book, so I know what is going to happen before it actually happens, but I really like the show, so far it has stuck to the mythology, and the original intent of the book rather well.
In the book, Ares explains that the bag is actually the bolt's sheath transformed and he put a similar enchantment on it to the one that Riptide has so the bolt wasn't actually in there the whole time, the enchantment just caused it to return to its sheath in the Underworld.
I kinda dislike how fast the beginning was and how fast they seem to understand every danger theyre walking into. I always thought Percy to be kinda clueless so for him to almost immediately understand whats going on is kinda annoying even if AnnaBeth might have warned him, but I still love the show
Then again the casino scene was going to have to be different due to age and I really think with more budget and time we would have gotten it. Disney short episodes and cheapness to blame
@@YenaKim-mc2ej Aside from having a crush on Luke she has no reason to have any regrets about him because Annabeth doesn't know that he's actually the Lightning Thief yet.🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

Poseidon with Sally that whole scene and him saying he’d by Percy’s side as he draws his sword against Ares pure goosebumps
And that while Percy is ready to fight right next to the ocean 😭😭

Completely agree. not to mention the budget that went into creating the Olimpus, which we'll also get to see.
Fun fact: Toby Stephens (Poseidon) is Maggie Smith's (McGonagall) son. 😊😂 just wanted to put it out there.

Annabeth doesn’t have the helm lol her hat is something else

Yeah it’s not
It has to do with the original myth of Perseus. Athena gave him a copy of the helm so he could fight Medusa.
