Great episode! Walker's acting was so good. I love that even though Percy figured it out then he still did not fully believe it even as he said it. You could see the shock in his eyes when Luke admitted to it. But it makes sense that Percy figures it out. The kid only has three friends, maybe four if we count Chiron. At this point, he 100% trust Annabeth and Grover. There was only Luke left for the prophecy to come true. Also, my personal opinion was that Annabeth said something to Percy before he went to meet with Luke. Annabeth obviously noticed that Luke reacted with "how do you know?" instead of "who?" when Percy told him that they knew who had stolen the bolt. She knew something was up, which was why she followed Percy and Luke, but she probably also didn't want to fully accept it. I really hope they do more seasons. I hate when people want things 1:1 with the books. Hell no, I want better than the books. I bet every author wishes they got an excuse to do a new draft of a 20 year old story now that they’ve improved as a writer, and imo this scene was much better than the books. The only issue I feel is that Annabeth’s reaction didn’t feel anywhere as heartbroken or hurt as I hoped it would, but other than that it’s great.

I like the fact that they’re not going for villain on Luke. I read the books as a kid, and the Luke was just the most evil character. Now that I’m rereading them as a 26-year-old. You meet Luke’s mom and realize. That Luke is just a traumatized child. Trying to tear down the institution that failed him and his mother and he’s just being used.
I wish they added an extra hint to how clever Percy was with the victory condition. Like maybe when Ares has Percy by his throat, he goes for the killing blow, then stops instead to gloat about making Percy suffer first before throwing him. Would add emphasis that Percy wouldn't be able to beat the War God outright but like Greek hero traditions, was able to trick him into it.

The way I was consistently every week waiting to watch each episode and later watching your reaction/breakdown is amazing. Your perspective, inputs and comments are amazing, love these videos!! Keep it up Cam 🔥❤️
I'm really glad that they didn't make Luke a full-on villain! He did messed up stuff? Yeah, he tricked Percy and honestly his plan was to send a 12yo to Tartarus lmao he's a mess. But he also doesn't act evil because... he shouldn't. He joined Kronos' side because he believes in it, and he believes the gods are bad and should be taken down. In the books, even after he died, I didn't see him as a hero tbh. Took me years to fully grasp the nuances of his characters bc he acted so villanous before getting turned into Kronos and then showing an empathetic side whenever he took over his own body back. With this Luke here, I not only see why he will be seen as a hero later on, but also why so many demigods joined him over the years. Amazing job by everyone involved, the episode was great! Though I REALLY don't know what I'll do during this hiatus 😭😭😭
Yeah it is obvious Uncle Rick was going with his character as he goes with brooks. Not everything was planed in the first one to plant the seeds. But with the show when the whole story is out they can show it now, with all the nuances.
What a season 😭 I need the renewal asap. The sea of monsters has a special place in my heart because that’s the first PJO book I picked up as a kid cuz I thought the cover was cool. These kids have such a bright future and I’m so proud of the work they put in
I was talking to a friend who is a massive book fan while I'm more of a casual reader about how not making Luke a full villain even from the start is good. Sure when you're a kid looking at another child as a villain is whatever but while they are cultivating a new audience a lot of people who watch are adults who already know better, Luke IS just a kid who has been neglected and manipulated so making both Percy and the audience get where he is coming from specially after the way they built the gods this season just makes more sense and makes him more tragic than evil
This is the first year we are able to watch a quality Percy Jackson cinematic production on his birthday 💙 I can't believe we have both versions of that Luke confrontation now. They're both SO GOOD!!!! Though I do wish we got to see Percy staggering out of the woods fighting for his life lol. Seriously, we are so blessed to have this tv show. What a beautiful, soulful adaptation for this story which has so much heart and passion. The satisfaction and disbelief I feel is incredible. I can't believe we still get more after this. We're too spoiled 💙
My thoughts exactly. I don't have anything to really look forward to now until season 2 is out. I'm praying it's been greenlit and they announce it and start filming soon. I'm gonna rewatch all the episodes at once this weekend to relive them again!
I hope s2 gets released in a year and not multiple years, also, I hope that they film s2, 3 and 4 all at similar times since they all happen in around a year, I dont want Percy to look too old by the Last Olympian as Walker is already 15 I believe or hes turning 15 soon
AHHHH again i’m so ready for book purists to start yapping. you said it best, cry me a mf river. i loved this episode even with all the changes i think this show needs a season 2 more than ever right now.
@@AW12378 yeah that was my one kinda complaint but that scene where the wave is coming up against walker his facial expression is sooooooo good and it really captures what happened in the book for me
Thank you so much for being so prompt with posting your reactions and breakdowns this season Cam. After watching the episode, I look forward to seeing your video every week. I hope you loved this season as much as I did. Thank you!! 🫶🏽🫶🏽
I think they didn't completely lean into Luke as a villain yet so Percy/Annabeth can more easily be in denial or think they can save him. And for his turn at the end to be more satisfying. Also it fixed something that bothered me on the books that is I didn't feel that the connection between Luke and Annabeth was that important early on bc Luke didn't seem to consider her when he left. In the show you can see the pain in his eyes when he saw her pain over the betrayal
At 13:15, while watching the actual ep. I actually got mad cause I was sobbing and stuff and then she looks at him like something is wrong and then says “you need to wake up.” Like then it goes dark, and some dude that looks like the grim reaper shows up so I’m thinking Percy died or maybe his mom didn’t actually make it and I’m actually terrified. 😭😭 (for clarification, I haven’t read the books at all or know much about the Greek gods but this show was amazing. I’ll be reading the first book to see how it’s like now.)
That's Kronos. He was also the Headmaster a couple of episodes ago in Percy's dream. The show doesn't adapt the book completely, but it's very close. The basic details are the same, they just rewrote parts of the adventure and the fight scenes. Kronos is in a thousand pieces in Tartarus, so he can only communicate with Percy and Luke through dreams for the time being. In the books, Kronos mainly appears as a voice speaking from the pit of Tartarus, the place that Percy and Grover nearly fell into last week. Percy doesn't realize that Kronos is responsible there until Kronos intervenes to keep Ares from killing him after Percy won their duel. Annabeth had already figured out who Kronos was based on one of Percy's dreams, but she didn't want to believe it as Hades was the much better option. Next is The Sea of Monsters where Percy, Annabeth, the friendly Cyclops Tyson, and Clarisse travel to the Sea of Monsters to get the Golden Fleece to save the camp and Grover who got caught by Polyphemus the Cyclops (who is ALSO Percy's brother!!!) while searching for Pan. Grover DOES eventually find Pan by the way in the 4th book, however, Pan is Fading. Fading is when a god dies by fading from existence, typically because their domain has been so destroyed as Nature has been in Pan's case. Pan Fades after Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Rachel Elizabeth Dare, Tyson and Nico di Angelo find him, but not before Pan passes on some of his power to Grover. The main bad guys of the series are Kronos and Luke. This??? This is just the beginning. By the next book, Luke has built an army of monsters and demigods and is working to resurrect Kronos and overthrow Olympus. Chris Rodriguez, who is one of the campers in the show, is one of Luke's forces, although Chris eventually defects back to Camp Half-Blood after Clarisse finds and rescues him from Daedalus' Labyrinth. It all leads up to the final battle for Olympus in The Last Olympian and the fulfilment of the Great Prophecy. By that time, there's 3 children of the Big Three: Percy, Thalia (who is resurrected by the Golden Fleece at the end of The Sea of Monsters) and Nico di Angelo, the Son of Hades. Nico is actually briefly in Episode 6: as Grover and Augustus discuss Pan about 12 and a half minutes into the episode, Nico can be heard calling for Bianca in the background who is his sister.
I really thought Annabeth’s regret was going to come back up in this episode, I’m not upset that it didn’t just confused. I kind of assumed it was either going to be regret about leaving home and she was going to mention it as part of her reasoning for going back with her dad for the school year, or it was going to be about leaving Thalia behind and not staying to fight with her. I do fully expect it to be in the next season though, either as an explanation after the fact of them going back to camp or when they’re in the SoM and talking about Thalia. My one big complaint is that we didn’t get the explanation of backbiter or “your mother is a queen amongst women” but I expect we get backbiter explanation next season and hopefully that line will be put elsewhere
Which was a change that Rick's wife fought for because they thought it would be too dark for Disney. Most of the changes that people are complaining about were actually Rick and his wife's ideas 🫣
Honey, I'm 37, and I sobbed buckets. That was the most beautiful ending I've ever seen in a series. Ever. I honestly cannot wait until we get more seasons. They really gotta work to top this one fr. 💙
Nice season finale. Mount Olympus is beautiful. Percy finally meets Poseidon. Lance Derrick plays Zeus, the actor's last performance before dying. Lance was a good actor! Rest in peace Lance🙏
out of curiosity, what was the line from the percy/poseidon scene that didn't get said? I don't have my copy of the book at the moment, I lent it to my sister, and the only line from that scene that i really remember loving is 'the sea does not like to be restrained'. I feel sure that there WERE other cool lines, I just can't remember them right now.
I have 2 guesse. But, of course, only Cam can answer your question. 1st - "Your mother is a queen among women." 2nd - "You are a true son of the Sea god."
Can I just say that my favorite part of the tv series was the fact that the actor for Luke looks sooo much like Percy Jackson in the book series grown up! If that was intentional it was brilliant. Luke was probably one of the most important characters to shape the series and books that sprouted from the original series. Always alluded to and when Percy got older he was more understanding of Luke’s feelings and ideals. For true fans Percy when he got older mentioned that now that he was as old as Luke he understood Luke’s disdain towards the gods. Overall, I loved the series. I thought it was more faithful to the books and even expanded upon it. I can’t wait for the next season!!❤❤❤❤
According to Rebecca Riordan, they deliberately toned down Gabe's cruelty for the show. Him dying like that also has another effect: it leaves that last line of the prophecy unresolved to possibly mean something else in the future.
Thank you so much for these fantastic reactions 💕🙏💕 As someone who hadn't even glimpsed any of these books until after watching Season One (I'm reading book one now though, don't you worry!) my favourite parts of the show were: -All of the Medusa segments (including the scenes with just her head) -Waterland and Hephaestus -Mom and Dad talking at the bar -Percy chatting with a Nereid -Dad intervening with Zeus and then actually speaking to Percy (Freaking finally, about time, Dad!) -Grover's consensus song -Literally every time Annabeth takes off the hat and becomes visible (such a cool effect!) And the only part I did not like in the entire series were the dream sequences. But I think that's just the voice they used. Supposed to sound creepy (I assume) but instead, to me, Kronos just sounds constipated 😅 Anywhooo, so psyched for Season Two!!! 🎉😍🎉
I mean they reiterate over and over again in the books to never name anything because names have power. Of course, Percy never learns that particular lesson.
That pact scene made me so good. So epic, adventurous and emotional. It reminded how I felt at the end of the lord of the rings and also end of Harry Potter film #1. We are in good hands.
8:41 i know which line youre talking about... "Your mother is a goddess among mortals" or something like not sure if i remember that correctly. The only thing i would change on this episode is to add Poseidons line about Sally, and the other is for Annabeth to a little bit more hurt/hearbroken about Lukes betrayal.
I didn't mind most of the changes made in this episode but I'm so pissed that they didn't include Ares cursing Riptide after he lost, especially since it would be important in season 3 (if we get one) when Percy tries to fight Atlas. It was an emotional episode though and I love that they added Annabeth witnessing Luke's betrayal.
Maybe, but it wouldn't make as much sense considering they don't interact for long in the third book. Hopefully the show does it well if they do include it in season 3.
I actually really like Luke's characterisation here - he's just a kid too, and it's nice to see them not going full villain. A kid's not going to be 100% evil.
Is anyone else concerned about the actor's aging? I mean, Rick's biggest complaint was them 'aging up' the actors in the movies, yet, Walker is already 15... so by the time they complete the series, he will be in his 20's... when he's supposed to just be 16.
sometimes shows get renewed for multiple seasons so i hope thats the case because then they would be able to start working on the 3rd season right after they finish instead of how it was for this season they had to wait for it to air so disney can see how well it does and then decide if they want to renew it
Hey Cam!!! Great video❤ But I am curious, how do you make the reaction stuff to the TV shows. As an aspiring film content creator I’m very curious how you’re able to show the TV show without the screen blacking out.
I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it's exactly what my book fan heart was wanting and that it's okay that it's not totally the books and that's okay to me. I came into this series with a non-judgmental heart and not caring that Annabeth wasn't blonde haired and is African American and Grover is Asian. I came to see what these actors would do with the characters. Not to nitpick about the little stuff since them not being blonde in the movie didn't bother me anyways. It was more everything else that bothered me and less their looks. Plus, Rick picked the cast himself this time and if Rick likes a child enough to play the part, then who am I to judge prematurely. I came in here to see what these actors would do with these characters and despite the fact that it's not one for one with the book, the little changes didn't bother me at all.
“look you didn’t ask to be a half-blood” first line and it already took me out

I can’t wait for what comes next, we’ll be waiting Rick Riordan, we’ll be waiting
@10:49 “cry me a river” 😂😂 just about sums up my reaction to #that audience
I hate when people want things 1:1 with the books. Hell no, I want better than the books. I bet every author wishes they got an excuse to do a new draft of a 20 year old story now that they’ve improved as a writer, and imo this scene was much better than the books. The only issue I feel is that Annabeth’s reaction didn’t feel anywhere as heartbroken or hurt as I hoped it would, but other than that it’s great.

I swear to the gods if we don't get a season 2 I'm gonna riot
this finale was SO GOOD
I like the fact that they’re not going for villain on Luke. I read the books as a kid, and the Luke was just the most evil character. Now that I’m rereading them as a 26-year-old. You meet Luke’s mom and realize. That Luke is just a traumatized child. Trying to tear down the institution that failed him and his mother and he’s just being used.
Yes! I was in my 30s (and a parent) back then, so I’ve always viewed Luke the way you are now.
luke made sense running when annabeth showed up, i wouldnt wanna fight her either😭
“Just be a kid “made me tear up😢😢
I love how one of my favorite things was Zeus and Poseidon speaking in the old tongue.
Good to know I wasn’t the only one full on tear bending 😭😭
"I'm 24! I'm 24 years old!" Me with tears also in my eyes: GIRL SAME 😭😭😭
Tsss im 47 ffs 😂
I'm 43 lol. And I am so emotionally invested in this.
@@Electronaut76 your comment gives ME the chance to say it: SAME!! (And I don’t consider myself old, so it’s sad that people in their 20s seem to feel like they are. :( )
Charlie Bushnell acted the hell out of that scene stand out performance
"Stop it. I'm 24 years old." *wipes tears away*
I have never been so happy to see someone get turned to stone!
Luke's betrayal was SO GOOD! It broke my heart tho (even though I've read the books a million times)
The Ares vs Percy fight was epic!
Poseidon saving Percy and talking about Sally was just ugh!!
We better get The Sea of Monsters or imma riot
I knew Lance Reddick would be good but he was even better than I could’ve imagined 😭 I hope they recast him well 🙏 (Also annabeth seeing lukes reveal almost made me cry, like I could see what’s coming 😞)
I can't believe it's the finale!! My brain is going at a million miles an hour!
Guys I think I died and joined Elysium! This is literally the best final I could ever ask for!!!
When Luke says “I didn’t think you’d give them to Grover” I just started bawling my eyes out
What a season 😭 I need the renewal asap.
This is the first year we are able to watch a quality Percy Jackson cinematic production on his birthday 💙
I can't believe we have both versions of that Luke confrontation now.
RIP Lance Reddick. Honestly, you could tell by his eyes that he wasn't well. 😞
Sidenote: Come on, show! You couldn't have Grover eat tin cans?!?! Lol
damnnn you are quick! need them to adapt all the seasons so i can see grown up percabeth ❤️
I think they aren’t going full villain on Luke to play up his humanity and his reasoning more than Rick did in the books.
ok so now, what im supossed to do on Tuesdays?
Fr
My thoughts exactly. I don't have anything to really look forward to now until season 2 is out. I'm praying it's been greenlit and they announce it and start filming soon. I'm gonna rewatch all the episodes at once this weekend to relive them again!
Read the books.
sobbing at this i need to go and rewatch
I hope s2 gets released in a year and not multiple years, also, I hope that they film s2, 3 and 4 all at similar times since they all happen in around a year, I dont want Percy to look too old by the Last Olympian as Walker is already 15 I believe or hes turning 15 soon
No he turned 15 last year in January
AHHHH again i’m so ready for book purists to start yapping. you said it best, cry me a mf river. i loved this episode even with all the changes i think this show needs a season 2 more than ever right now.
But why was the ares fight so short?
@@AW12378 yeah that was my one kinda complaint but that scene where the wave is coming up against walker his facial expression is sooooooo good and it really captures what happened in the book for me
@@BenZ-by1ig It was my only real complaint for this episode. Now that I think of it a lot of the fight scenes have been short.
GRANDPA SENT ME
We had the same reaction to Annabeths hair in the end XD It's so pretty! I couldn't stop looking at it!
"Cry me a river" you're so funny 😂
Girl don't feel bad I'm 27 and I still got emotional watching my child hood book come to life lol like Percy Jackson was my harry potter
I'm 40 and was crying during that scene with the trio at the tree - you aren't alone!
Thank you so much for being so prompt with posting your reactions and breakdowns this season Cam. After watching the episode, I look forward to seeing your video every week. I hope you loved this season as much as I did. Thank you!! 🫶🏽🫶🏽
This episode was a literal masterpiece 😭💙 Manifesting season 2 rn 🙏
I’m 25 and I was blubbering at the pact scene too! You just earned yourself a fan!!
Saaaame same age, same reaction lol.
@@witchy.business it’s just what Percy Jackson does to us :,)
I really wish we got to see more of Lance as Zeus, I miss him so much for the short time we saw him I loved him as Zeus
just watched it and now i’m crying😭
(for clarification, I haven’t read the books at all or know much about the Greek gods but this show was amazing.
Gabe wasn't even abusive. He was just a loser😂 Sally put him in his place. Nowhere near enough reason to setup his death.
What an amazing show, it was INCREDIBLE ❤, thank u for your videos🫶🙌
Thank you for making these!! I looked forward to them every week
I don't mind the scorpion not being there. I liked this better.
Any chance for S2 & maybe other shows you check out you’ll consider posting your “FULL” or “UNCUT” reactions to your Patreon 👀???
Loved your reaction so much,”cry me a river”lol love that,on the scorpion not being in the scene❤
Dude i’m 30 tomorrow and I totally cried multiple times throughout this series! 🙈
According to Rebecca Riordan, they deliberately toned down Gabe's cruelty for the show. Him dying like that also has another effect: it leaves that last line of the prophecy unresolved to possibly mean something else in the future.
Thank you so much for these fantastic reactions 💕🙏💕
As someone who hadn't even glimpsed any of these books until after watching Season One (I'm reading book one now though, don't you worry!) my favourite parts of the show were:
-All of the Medusa segments (including the scenes with just her head)
-Waterland and Hephaestus
-Mom and Dad talking at the bar
-Percy chatting with a Nereid
-Dad intervening with Zeus and then actually speaking to Percy (Freaking finally, about time, Dad!)
-Grover's consensus song
-Literally every time Annabeth takes off the hat and becomes visible (such a cool effect!)
And the only part I did not like in the entire series were the dream sequences. But I think that's just the voice they used. Supposed to sound creepy (I assume) but instead, to me, Kronos just sounds constipated 😅
Anywhooo, so psyched for Season Two!!! 🎉😍🎉
Mr D using the real name of Peter Johnson shows how proud he his. If i call the theory about the gaining strength through using names
I mean they reiterate over and over again in the books to never name anything because names have power. Of course, Percy never learns that particular lesson.
I swear this episode was a masterpiece i felt every emotion 💙✨️✨️🏛
8:56 finally someone noticed!!! I saw them and squealed ‘the twins’
Idk why but I absolutely loved the Kronos dream sequence in this episode lol. I really hope it gets renewed for a 2nd season soooon
That pact scene made me so good. So epic, adventurous and emotional. It reminded how I felt at the end of the lord of the rings and also end of Harry Potter film #1. We are in good hands.
This episode had me balling my eyes out 😭 such a good finale
That Olympus scene! Wow. What an ending!
Apparently, Lance Reddick died only 4 to 6 weeks after shooting that.
They could still have that moment in season 3. Ares shows up in that book and even mentions the curse.
Maybe, but it wouldn't make as much sense considering they don't interact for long in the third book. Hopefully the show does it well if they do include it in season 3.
I loved the finale. Had a really great time and teared up twice. What more could you ask for?
Just waiting for the "Your mother was a queen among women" line(i think that's roughly the line)
ah i was not ready for lukes betrayal 😭
There's so many things I want in Season 2, along with a Season 2 renewal itself. Chief among them is a Zeus recast and Kronos physically appearing.
in literally crying i love it ep 😭😭
I actually really like Luke's characterisation here - he's just a kid too, and it's nice to see them not going full villain. A kid's not going to be 100% evil.
I am at lost... It's like reading the first book again and now waiting for the next book to be published .. 😢 but I'm willing to wait.. ❤❤❤
12:49
You: I'm 24
Me: I'm gonna be 24 in April!!!!
This was pretty good ending and wrap up of the season! No complaints!
Is anyone else concerned about the actor's aging? I mean, Rick's biggest complaint was them 'aging up' the actors in the movies, yet, Walker is already 15... so by the time they complete the series, he will be in his 20's... when he's supposed to just be 16.
sometimes shows get renewed for multiple seasons so i hope thats the case because then they would be able to start working on the 3rd season right after they finish instead of how it was for this season they had to wait for it to air so disney can see how well it does and then decide if they want to renew it
You look so much like Sally😭
Omg she does
…we’re not gonna see them again until maybe 2025 omg someone help me up😭
I’m not gonna lie you actually look like what I think a young sally Jackson looked like :)
The biggest changes that irk me about this show is the lack of Ambrosia and the lack of swearing on the River Styx.
Just stopped crying and now I'm ready to watch you cry
Am I the only one who when Luke said he was recruiting saw the way his eyes seemed to gleam gold??
Hey Cam!!! Great video❤
But I am curious, how do you make the reaction stuff to the TV shows.
I know it's not relevant but I believe Kratos would love this kid😂.
