- www.autobytel.com/honda/civic/... It seems like there are fewer and fewer coupes on the market today. One car company you can always count on to offer a 2-door model is Honda's Civic which has been around for decades. This coupe has been updated for the 2014 model year featuring a new front end and a revised rear. Prices range from $18,390 to $24,040.
Under the hood is a 1.8 liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 143 horsepower and 129 lb-ft. of torque. One big change is the automatic transmission. Last year's model had a 5-speed automatic and this new model gets a CVT. That helps with fuel economy as the 2014 Honda Civic EX CVT Coupe now gets 29 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway.
There really is not that much competition wise; both Kia and Hyundai have competing cars but they are not as good. The Civic is the best-selling compact car in America for a reason!

this dude is the BEST REVIEWER, good job sir!
are you kidding me? hahahahahaha
@@SexyBulldozerMan shut up
Probably the most honest review of any car I've ever seen. He's not trying to entertain anyone, you can tell these are his honest no b.s. opinions
Best auto reviewer on TH-cam, period. Love Aaron Gold.
Nice video, very informative and really enjoyed those camera angles.
I have this car....extremely happy with it
Another great review. Good job!
I really like this gentleman's, common sense, reviews.
Great review from this guy, really enjoyed the video, kudos! :D
Love this car! I wish they have lane watch for the left side too! Push button start makes it nice! The CVT is nice. The econ makes it sound weird once you have it and you step hard on the gas pedal.
Nice over view of the amazing new Honda Civic. I really enjoyed your wrap up..
A friend of mine got a 2015 civic ex and it is absolutely fantastic. It was quiet and very solid, amazing build quality in every part of the car. Its rids was smooth and supple as a gentle breese. Its dash was made of respectable materials with no sense of cheapness about them in any way. Its steering was light yet sharp without being ridiculous, she threw it around quite a bit and there is no dramatic body roll to report of. Its engine and stereo even sounded good! Very smooth delivery from the cvt with no sense of the car being slow in any way! It was better in every way than the 2015 Ford Focus Titanium that I test drove as part of a fundraiser.
You forgot the Mazda 3 as a competitor. Super fun car. Also, regarding cvt, I drive up a 1.5 mile hill and not getting my tea spilled on me from gears changing is awesome.
You are not alone, I also love CVT :)
Nice review. I just traded my 2012 EX-L Navi Civic in for a new lease on the 2014 EX-L Navi and it is a *far* better car! Also? The CVT is significantly better (to me) than the five speed it replaces. I find it far smoother and once you get the feel (took me a day or so) it is incredibly peppy and really fun to drive. If this CVT is the future then I'm all for it! This is my 6th Honda (4 6 cyl Accords and now 2 Civics) and after one week I'm ready to call it my favorite!
I couldn't agree more about the cvt. Im surprised so many people hate
I HATED the look of the two-tier dash, until I got the car. Love it now! Wish I would have gone for this Aegean Blue instead of the Modern Steel Metallic. Walked in wanting the Kona Coffee Metallic only to be told....they had discontinued it for 2015. Which makes no sense, if there was only 1 year left for this generation of Civic.
Is engine vtec or ivtec ?
I hated the idea of CVTs but they've grown on me. I only worry about the belt having a lot of friction and snapping.
I wish this was a hatchback, it would be much more versatile.
I have somewhat of a performance car and I have no complaints about having 4 doors. What if you need to take a couple of friends somewhere? What if you have to carry some luggage? Having 4 doors makes it so much easier, and I don't think any style has been lost.
Seems like the Japanese brands are embracing CVT's like no one else in the world of cars, this is a big gamble, if they start to fail and break down after the warranty is over, it could give the Japanese car industry a big black eye!
I have a kid and I have this coupe.
u had me until the i love cvt part...
I'm getting one
Question: can this car do autopilot/self drive itself?
2016 and up Honda can
$25K for a civic? So in 2003 I bought a Civic Ex coupe. It cost $16,999 out the door with automatic. In 2006 I traded it in and bought the same (only a 2006) for a little over $18K. Fast forward 7 years, now it's in the mid 20K range. Thankfully I've moved on as I have gotten older, but come on. So much for 2 percent inflation.....
You got to remember more technology are going into the new ones not like 2003 where most of them are basic you know what I am saying?
The base model Civic costs $18k. Remember the car that automotive journalists are the high end models packed with all the goodies.
Yes, thats true but in theory the cost of other technologies should come down in price. In 2003 I had a Samsung flip smartphone that cost almost as much as my iPhone. Point is, all the technology that drives some of the in car systems has just gotten cheaper, yet basic things like the tires, steel, plastics, etc. have gotten much more expensive.
The japanese are using the CVT since more than ten years a go.

It seems like soon, Honda will give you a choice between Android or iOS in cars. They recently partnered with Google for an Android powered system.
Sharp car, I love the exterior, and the Honda quality in general. But I DESPISE the dashboard styling. The head unit where the touch screen is hideous and looks jammed in like someone installed it at home. I also hate the 2-level thing. Just my opinion on the interior. I had a recent BMW for a few years and I LOVED the design of the dash- simple and classic. And it's not about price, I think even the Chevy Spark has a better looking interior design. (Not by much, admittedly!)
2:25 look at this dude lmao he got a android😂😂😂
CAMRY HEADLIGHTS
CVT= horrid but too bad CVT is the future of all cars. 8th gen civic is still better in my opinion. Accord coupe> civic coupe
I bought my 2012 civic because of reliability I wanted something that was going to last me but 2 years later I wish I would have bought a mustang just cuz the civic is boring to drive but it is a great car
there are better small cars out there
CVT's suck.
Oooo! What happen with the great humor your known for, who told you to stop that, not cool. But nice review anyways. I don't like the car. Some will.
complains about 4rd's bitches about room and says that you will need the 4dr. hahahaha
if a car doesn't with Android, I don't buy it
Really? You would give up on all sorts of things like price, mileage, looks, comfort (I don't just mean this car) and buy something that sucks gas, looks ugly, and costs more just so you could use your phone? You need to prioritize your life.
@@Towndrunk26er Lol true
Yes Civic= Small Accord version. CVT sucks may save fuel but if and when that transmission goes get ready its going to cost big $$$ to replace. Get a manual forever manual keep it alive. If you can't drive manual then maybe you shouldn't be driving ..haha The coupe is ugly hate that front end yuck and the sedan is not any better but I'll take that instead. Ehh not worried about the texting and feature with Andriod I don't use the phone unless its needed. Want to reach me that badly call my phone is capable with the bluetooth at least. Can't wait for the Si due out at dealers end of April.
CVT's are more reliable and less maintenance work than regular automatics or even manuals..... my dads car has a CVT on a hybrid powertrain and its done 134,000 miles and is still perfect.
TheK24Kyle Wrong CVTs are more complex than you think. A traditional automatic is easier. CVTs more money when it needs to be fixed or replaced.
TheK24Kyle
The Honda CVT is perfect, I have one in my Accord!! Very reliable!
TheSpritz0 yeah it's super easy to control the car's torque with one too!
Perfect car to buy your daughter or niece. I pass..... not enough power.
