2014 Honda Civic Coupe - Redline: Review

- After an emergency refresh last year, Honda shocks us yet again with another thorough round of changes to its popular Civic compact car. This time, the coupe gets a completely re-done front fascia, updated wheels, and new tech features inside the cabin. Under the hood, we find a bit more power and a new automatic transmission bringing the Civic up to par with its top rivals in this extremely competitive class. Are the changes enough to make this car feel new?

Best bang for your buck, seriously! Fun to drive, comes with lots of stuff standard, looks amazing on the road. I have the coupe si and I love it !! You CAN'T go wrong with a HONDA
I used to make fun of the Civic...now its a car that I really want to own lol.
+Justin Mungoway Same here. Oh the jokes I used to say were so bad and wrong, but the universe has a way of making you eat your words later on in life. So, I recently went to my local Honda dealer to reserve a blue 2016 Civic Coupe in the Touring trim. They get it in at around the second to third week of April. I'll be one of the first people (aside from reviewers and Honda dealers) in South Florida to be driving one as no dealer within 150 miles of where I live even has their first batch in stock.
I used to make fun of every other brand besides honda and ford. as a kid I thought for the longest time ford was the best. man was i wrong. I knew honda was good but never knew how popular and realible it true is. thinking about getting a civic for my first car actually.
Justin Mungoway same
Never related to a comment so much
I'm very happy with my 2014 CIvic Coupe. I opted for the LX trim and I'm just fine with that. To each their own on the looks. Personally I think it looks great. I've found the power to be plenty, and I'm loving the gas mileage I'm getting. It's a commuter car, guys.
Does the Lx And EX have the same material seats?
I believe one of the EX trims has leather seats, although I could be wrong. Best to consult a dealer. Personally, I find the LX seats to be adequate and plenty comfortable. Leather is prone to getting very hot and cold depending on the weather
Yeah, I know the EX-L has leather but I was considering on buying a civic and don't know if the LX and EX differ in terms of seats. I know the EX has a couple extra features over the LX but I'm more concerned about the seat material :p
I'm not positive but I believe they have the same seats
If you're interested in an aftermarket, I've heard Clatrend I can't believe it's not leather seats are well-made and fit very well
Thanks soo much for all these videos :)! I'm sure you know of the other big channel that does car reviews, but you upload more and cover the car more quickly, thanks!
you're the best man, love your car reviews the most out of all the channels! keep it up!!
Looks nice and modern.
Also nice to see it doesn't have a gigantic oversized grille which seems to be the trend.
Watching this in 2020 lol. Keep up the Amazing reviews you do Sir! Looking forward to that 2022 Si!
Awesome review as always Sofyan! I do agree that touch screen radio really needs a tuning knob. That will make it easier to adjust the volume and navigate through the screen. They might as well add a home screen button and tuning buttons something similar to the 2015 Hyundai Sonata interface. Also, that engine needs a direct injection, EarthDreams technology. I'm hoping they will offer the EarthDreams for the 2015 Civic. That will make it even more fuel efficient, add more horsepower, and bump the torque as you might have seen in 2013-14 Accord and 2015 Fit. Overall, this car is still competitive among other compact sedans.
I own a 2014 Civic EX coupe. If I'm not mistaken, the drivers side window control is auto up and down, not just down.
Looking forward to the 2015 Fit review. Keep up the great vids.
How do you change the headlights bulb?
do you film in Fairfax area? it looks a lot like it i live around leesburg
Great review sofyan! I love your vids. Keep it up
Great review, addressed everything I needed to know. Want this as my first car, local dealership has one at a good price :)
Will you review the 2015 fit?? knowing that you had the previous generation.
Great review. Now I'm waiting for 2015 Acura TLX SH-AWD with Advance package review when it comes out. Which it shouldn't be too far away?
Hope you can get your hands on the new Fit soon!
I have a 2014 Civic EX-L. I preferred it over the 10th Gen Civic,....and now the 11th gen Civic. I'll be keeping it for as long as I can.
I test drove a 2015 Civic Coupe EX with a manual a couple of days ago from my local Honda dealer (which surprisingly had two of those in stock), and the manual drove beautifully! Sofyan, I don't know if you've driven the manual Civic EX yet, but you should have gotten that one as your tester. The 5-speed is leagues above that CVT anyday of the week.
not sure if i should get 2014 civic coupe or 2013 civic sedan
I'm currently leasing a 13 civic LX with a 5 spd auto and I 100% agree the transmission has a rubber band feel and wants to search for the highest rev, I do like with this 14 civic coupe that it has the lane watch cam but is it me or would that seem distracting looking over at the camera changing lanes
The Honda smart entry/push button start system is very nice. I have a 2013 Accord and it has left me wanting keyless access to my apartment!
I am getting a car and I am choosing the acura tlx or Honda civic and I don't know witch to get
How many speakers dose the car have
Name of soong in beginning?
Anyone know the song in the beginning???
What's wrong with a CVT?
Can you review a mini cooper s 5 doors? Tnx
Okay, I absolute love the "generic" (i.e. royalty-free) version of "Enjoy The Silence" at the beginning, I couldn't help but notice :-P
Whats is the price of this civic?
I''m only getting 27.3 mpg....what gives? (just general driving around Los Angeles)
I understand people are entitled to their own opinions and such, but I think it's absurd to point out how hideous the car looks; or I should say it's truly an over-statement. People point out any look that displeases them on any car, even from Supercars. The Bugatti Veyron looks like a beetle, the BMW X5 looks like an oversized bug, so on and so forth. People also stated how the Nissan Juke looks soooo ugly and like a frog. I on the other hand thought it looked modern and lately I've been seeing more Jukes on the road cause people actually like it IMO. truth is in terms of aesthetic appeal all of these cars are really attractive. With that being said, I absolutely love my 14 civic coupe. It's a nice contemporary design and I get 36.7 mpg combined. I know it's fashionable and will also prove to be a reliable car down the road. Happy camper here! :)
still got it?
I see some SUV looks like bulldog I don't want it
Great review
Please review the new 2015 WRX STi! I would LOVE to see it!
looks like the new fit and it looks well!
Can u plz do a review of the car u have
Can you review a 2014 Honda accord EX please?????:)
Please review the 2014 toyota corolla s premium!!
What's the horsepower
Good driving car, but if you are 6' or greater you need a gangsta lean to fit inside without your head hitting the low slung roof.
+Bobby Vogt Well I have long legs and short torso.
Bobby gangsta lean I like it
The seats can be pumped down to accomadate taller specimens
Sedan has more room
I’m 6-4 and don’t have that problem idk 🤷♂️
The Civic is one of the few cars in its car which still offer a 5 speed as the manual option. Almost all competitors offer 6 speed.
But it's the only manual transmission with good gear ratios.
thats why you get a si
you still can get a 4 speed auto in lower trims of the dodge avenger LOL
Jorge Urdaneta You can still get a 4 speed auto on the 2014 corolla base.
Focus still has a 5 speed manual also.
I will say this, my 2013 Civic LX has a lot of vibrations in the passenger door. I'll get it checked when I go I. But, they need to concentrate more on getting rid of random vibration noises while driving.
I just noticed that the 2014 coupe looked like a precursor to the 2016 civics. I love the siding and the rear end of the new civics but the grill is what kept me from buying one.
Agreed, got myself a 2015 in December. Great car, but I'll have replace the sound system...just found an audio company that will do this without touching the screen, etc. Now I have to save $ for it...ugh.
porcelaincougar thats cool, since the oem screen is actually pretty nice. And yeah I'd prefer to pay for stereo install rather than ripping my panels open myself on a new car.
do a video on the Honda Fit 2014
I have nightmares at night about CVTs coming standard on all cars in the future
I just bought a Civic EX Coupe on December 19th and I was wondering what the "Break in period" is for the civics. The manual says 600 miles but I was wondering if anyone else says otherwise.
***** boo I just put over 10K miles so way past the break in period :/
I hope honda adds led headlights standard in all the civic trims like the toyota corolla.
Hi Sofyan, I noticed that you shifted gear from S to D at high speed, Is that okay with CVT tran? Thanks…Lito
By the way, good presentation, Sofyan!!!!I drive a 2014 civic ex-l w/ nav.
CVT seems like it reacts better than most here.
You can actually get that same high end sound from the headphone out from most phones with a decent DAC, but kids these days hate that cable action of course lol.
But A 2014 Toyota Corolla Has LED Headlights
Do a review on the 2013 dodge ram 5.7 HEMI
why does it hav a moon roof? is this an SI?? cuz mine is also a 2014 civic coupe and doesnt have a moon roof? can anyone explain??
You probably have the LX trim, sunroof comes on the EX and up
mark del In the video he says he's driving the EX-L with Nav trim.
Wife finds lanewatch camera distracting too, so she turns that feature off in hr Touring sdan. Personally, I like it in my coupe, and use it for a few spots in town with either merging or to check for cyclists when I turn right. Do wish it had a bit more power, and some sort of sportier suspension option, but otherwise have been pretty happy with it for years now. Refinement up, same Honda efficiency and reliability as I was used to in my old CRX Si, but not as flingably fun. Grown up faster than me, can live with that. Make a modern CRX Si and I'd dump this for it immediiately.
do manual Accord Sport/EX pls
Use the nav on smartphones and plug it to the screen via hdmi. Save money on not buying nav option.
In my view of the new civic it's actually really good looking honda got it right. Few things I dislike about it the front end looks like a squirrel stuffing it's cheeks with nuts maybe fix that honda and also maybe restyle the dash a bit more you know a more upscale look. I am happy they finally put a touch screen in this is what the civic should of looked like back in 2012 oh well live and learn. Good job Honda and as always great review
Man that side mirror camera thing is just damn cool I would expect to see that in an audi Mercedes or BMW not a honda....nothing against honda lol
My only issue with the Honda civics after 2013 is the cvt. Not many mechanics that know how to work on cvt trans and in most cases you have to buy a new trans when you have issues. Hitting the gas hard damages cvt trans.. they make a 5 speed civic again ill buy another civic
Posted some video of the exhaust on this car for those who eants to jnow ehat it sounds like
Those amber lights aren't doing it for me in the front. Needs some altezza yo!!!
am I the only one who noticed when he started driving his shirt and hair was changed?
I hate CVTs, however, I can say a Honda engine with a CVT sounds good. Although, I drove a 2014 Accord LX and hated how rubberbandy that CVT felt compared to my 5 speed auto in my 2007 Accord V6. Therefore, I'll still love my 7th gen accord.
The new one looks far more sportier on the outside and more luxurious in the inside
what new one?
Not a fan of the refreshed look TBH, hopefully they will do a better job with the next sedan refresh.
The Eighth Gen Civics still look the best imo
Agreed.
Hipster
10th gen look better now ;)
true, it's just such a classic look
Can some one help me ?
i just want to know im 20 years old and idk if how much is the insurance of this car will cost me .
jason jusa - check Erie insurance. They give really great rates for full coverage
i like the cvt not gonna lie.. even tho i have the 5 speed AT
this civi looks better than the euro version i want this in europe
I really wanted a civic EX-L
But it seems kind of underpowered and i can't stand the way the cvt/engine sounds.
I might be getting a 2015 Honda Civic coupe LX CVT because really it might be the best pre-owned car they have. It only has over 15k miles. I hear a lot of complaints but when you're below the income level for new cars and many places you have to get what you can afford. The internet price of this car is over 14k so in person I'm hoping it's less than that and I can negotiate it down some more. It's better than going to a buy here pay here where you know the cars are crap.
How much did you end up paying for it? I'm planning to get a certified preowned too
Sounds like a lawnmower.
Misread the title... Thought it was the si :(
when i get my debt paid off, i'm starting up a savings for the 2015 Honda Civic EXL sedan.
Where do u record the vids not to be rude and I think u should make more vids than just one a week plz thank u
he only gets one car per week, then it takes time to edit and upload. Pretty hard to do more than one a week when you put the videos together as well as he does
Ok thanks for telling me
Hi speirs
Wow smart guy
Oh shit its speirs trading the dodge for a honda eh? ;)
cvt will never appeals to enthusiasts cuz of their low rpm range my 8gen civic 1.8 has beast like acceleration than this newer 1 it hits 7k on rpm and it feels really amazing
review a new fr-s with the lcd
Now if everyone else could learn from Honda on how to tune a good CVT transmission. Honda CVTs are actually very good~~ Better than other manufacturers for sure. Nissan should seriously learn from them.
isnt the 2014 supposed to support apple carplay? shouldnt you be able to do navi via phone?
My first civic was 2004
Thotmobile
11:32 VTEC!
The ninth generation of Civic sold well because the people who buy them typically only want something to get them from point A to point B.
They buy these cars for the same reasons people buy Dodge Calibers.
I agree, but its unfortunate because the more people buy Civics, the more they will keep producing boring ugly cars, once people stop buying them right away they will step up their game.
Tor Guy Yup, When the public demand crap, they get crap delivered. Cars today overall are horifically ugly. This civic is no exception.
Too bad the Honda City can't be reviewed by your channel
if honda had put the same power they have in the accord I wouldnt mind.
I want it except it has a frickin’ CVT
Had to buy a winter car I drive a C7 Corvette normally. Moved to Utah for flight school and needed something that could be driven year round in addition to my Vette. Cheap to own and maintain. Not a fun car to drive though, car has no soul. Slow as shit compared to my Vette. Of course, I paid $65k cash for my Vette and only paid $8k for this car in 2019 but hey whatever it's decent. Don't buy it if you are looking for a sporty car, you will be dissapointed and made fun of.
Honda listens to their customers.
higher quality audio from an HDMI? lol ok..
I like these civics but i deff prefer the si version
It is a crime to get this car with a CVT and not a manual. Honda really makes the best manual transmissions.
Its a crime to get the original econobox commuter with a transmission that gives it the best mpg? Are you the kind of guy who thinks the si sales are the only reason honda is profitable? It would be a crime to get a viper in a custom made automatic transmission since that has always been a hardcore track car. Getting the stereotypical sensible hand me down car of the people in automatic is not a crime.
The wheels are the best part!
We all miss the 8thgen brothaa
cvt would bother me but since this is a commuter car, its fine.
what I hate is that when I want to turn the volume down I turn off the heater
Este guey dijo.... hello! Im watching this 5 years late just like you lol
@@NinjaPickups You're right!
Honda link don’t even work while your driving. You have to be in park.
I see paddle shifters
The exterior doesn't do anything for me. Honda should design a sporty compact coupe exterior completely separate from the Civic.
As for the dash, the second tier could be better integrated with the design flow. It's a little like Mt. Davis at O.co Stadium. And what's with the odd shaped vent at left of center? It's not even the same shape as the vent right of center. It's like they designed it last and just made it to fit that space.
I don't understand why any automobile company would down-grade to a belt-driven transmission like a Honda motor scooter. When you let your foot off the gas, the belts slides over on the cone....just like a scooter. Good luck paying for the replacement belt and cones every 70,000 miles, only about $2500. I would buy the manual transmission instead of the hideous motor scooter belt.
@8:50 "this is now a cvt transmission." *Facepalm*
I think these new Si coupes look great. Not crazy about the grey one in this video though. In white or red with the rear spoiler I think they look pretty cool.
This isn't an si
What do u expect from a guy with a mustang as their picture? ^
What I need from manufacturers is better warranties that rival Kia Hyundai etc. STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT
