The writing around Crow this past year is a nice indicator of just how good Bungie's writing is and how it has improved over Destiny's life.
It's a shame they keep removing story chunks like this after every expansion

No, seriously, this season has been…just…absolutely phenomenal.
Something I really like about Crow's story is how this is the first ghost/guardian relationship we've seen since Osiris/Sagira. Seeing Glint act as a sort of concerned sibling to Crow as he deals with his guilt and self-hatred is really wholesome and makes me want to see more characters interacting with their ghosts.
Glint is also as fresh a ghost as Crow is a guardian, and he’s got a lot of questions

I guess we know a bit about Drifter and his Ghost. He hates it, he turned it mute.
Crow’s development from season of the lost is the definition of: “ignorance is bliss”. Until Savathun gave his memories back of course.
I couldn’t imagine trying to right the wrong of a “past life” especially when your “new life” hasn’t even developed any life experiences for said “new life” then to be judged by the people who took you in after being(probably) an indentured servant of gangster.
Uldren got what he deserved but Crow is literally a blank slate, I feel for the guy.
As much as Crows despair and his genuine struggle is brilliant storytelling...
The real peak writing here is that Eris is picking up Drifters mannerisms, I swear to god they're the best together bungie we need more content with their support
Uldren is such an interesting character. One of the most interesting because of where he came from and where he's going. A time will come when he proves himself to everyone and I look forward to seeing it.

Glint really is great character… he’s so upbeat and a spark in crow’s grief. After all, Glint searched for his guardian for centuries before he finally found Crow and I don’t think anyone would fit him better
A feel sorry for Crow, the Osiris he looked up to was a puppet of Savathun, not the real deal. As well as Saladin, perhaps the best relationship he’s had (with a mentor) has left to join Caital’s ranks. Despite our initial hate towards his past self, we may be the only good, healthy relationship he has left. Besides Glint of course.
I be hype for crow few years ago in destiny 2 of him rebirth and it is hard not to like crow but in this season crow make a lot of mistakes him guilty is easy to see ❤️😭

The lore this season hits so hard. They are doing a great job with crow, the VA and the writing really convey the emotion. When Crow turns to you and says You understand..? Chills. Even after seeing it a second time here. Then the compassion and trust Saladin has in Crow. 10/10 best story arc of the last year.
I think a measure of how strong the Destiny team's writing has been is the amount of understanding and empathy we see for Crow in the comments on videos like this one. Before Uldren was found by Glint there was nothing but hate for him for killing Cayde and almost no one wanted to talk about forgiveness. But here we are. Nice work writers.
I just want to give Crow a giant hug and never let him go until he's no longer in this state.
Uldren atoned the moment someone put a bullet in him. Crow doesn't need to atone for actions he's got remorse over, and actions he's already been punished for. It's like when a parent grounds a kid, but the kid still keeps trying to "make things right" long after the grounding is over. Uldren was punished sufficiently; Crow does not need to be punished.

I can’t help but feel that this unchecked regret is going to lead him on yet another villain arc.
I see a lot of people are pissed at Crow, and understandably so, but they're forgetting a key thing.
He knows not of what he does. His entire existence, even before he was a Guardian, was being subservient to someone else. Uldren, his sister then to Savathûn. Crow, to Spider then now to the Vanguard. He just wants to know what it's like to think for himself.
Uldren did terrible things but he was also conscious of them. Crow has done a single terrible thing but he was unaware of what would happen. Crow needs support not punishment.
If there was ever a Hunter that *NEEDS* their independence, it's Crow. That poor man has been a servant for the entirety of both of his lives. He needs freedom. He needs to make mistakes and learn from them. He needs his own choices.
It doesn’t matter to me whether he is Crow or Uldren. What we’ve seen with Savathun and Ana shows that people aren’t completely different when they revive, just a reset version of themselves.
Uldren was a victim of Riven, and Savathun. Crow/Uldren needs to accept that what happened wasn’t his fault. So do many others. Crow/Uldren is now free of the manipulation of Mara, Riven, and Savathun. He also is free of the prejudice against guardians that Uldren had.
And that has made him a far better person. He’s also free of the darkness from the black garden. He needs to be taught to let this guilt go and stop trying to “make up for it”. His reckless desire to “redeem” himself will only get him and others in more trouble.
Crow is also free of the corruption from the black garden he suffered from
The biggest reason he's trying to hard is because he never received the punishment that he was expecting, Saladin took it and crow feels lost
I mean…he died. Does he expect to be tortured in this life or final deathed?
I mean Crow is still kinda of prejudices against gaurdians now hes just got a valid excuse.
BRUH when I saw this scene it broke my heart- I really do love Crow and I want him to grow and redeem himself. It pains we we can’t say anything to him. Writing wise I think this is amazing story telling- it involves us and how we feel about Uldren Sov, Cayde-6 and Crow. So it’s like an interactive story and feels really personal. Making mistakes, redemption, pride, forgiveness, uncertainty. I love how they’ve taken Crow and made him such a deeper character
The thing is I don’t think Uldren Sov can be held fully accountable for his actions let alone be deemed a monster because of how many of his actions were done as a result of manipulation and corruption. Mara putting a reliance on her in his head, the black garden’s corruptions, Riven appearing as Mara, being a part of Savathun’s Plan, beyond all of that Uldren Sov was still a good person

Guilt is perhaps one of the worst emotions humans could be plagued with, as it can drive us to make more horrific mistakes in our fumbling attempts to atone. Crow/Uldren Sov needs closure, so that he can move on and continue growing into the person, as well as the lightbearer he needs to be. Zavala and Saladin have been trying to help him, and if those two are the men I think they are - they're not going to give up on Crow.
It’s not helped by the fact that many people still blame Uldren accountable for Cayde’s death. The guy was a puppet on stringers, and we have killed the puppet master and the person who made the strings, our revenge is over, and it wasn’t him to blame

This is the best 'redemption' arc I've seen since Zuko, that takes good writing.
I really have a feeling Crow will become a great man one day. I think a possible final reconciliation of Uldrin Sov will be us giving Crow the Ace of Spades - or, an exact replica of the gun. It was always meant to be his, even if he won't be the next Hunter Vanguard. He still has a long way to go, but one day he'll be one of the best.
I had a similar thought process, but I doubt they’ll ever give him ace.
While it would be a great way to pass on the title of vanguard leadership, many still hold it dear as “Cayde’s gun”
I literally have two Ace of Spades in my Vault. Some bug caused me to go through the forging process twice, so yeah, I have two.

I really hate savathun it’s her fault for all of this. She used riven to manipulate uldren leading to the death of cayde and riven and the curse of the dreaming city. Then she gives him his memories giving him some form of depression or survivors guilt. But I feel like he still doesn’t look at us the same ever since he got his memories either. He needs to learn none of this is his vault. He’s been manipulated so much I think the only person he had for a true trust is glint. No doubt he is scared of us especially about what we did to uldren.

Agreed. I've thought about that ever since Ghost tells us "Thanks, you know, for being my Guardian" at the end of the old Khvostov 7g-0x quest. Witch Queen gave us a lot more personality for Ghost, and now what I really want to see them tackle more is the relationship between us and our ghost specifically. He's an important character, and I really want to bond with him more.
Honestly i already felt bad when i heard guardians were killing him and he didnt even know why, he just went with it. Then when i heard he had his head in his hands and wouldnt answer until glint started humming and the only answer glint got was a hug. Thats how you know a man is truly broken
Crow's story has been such an amazing one so far, and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I had to do a verbal "AWWWWW" when reading the razors edge lore
I really like the character development of Crow and Saladin. Both disliked one another during season of the Chosen and now they completely respect one another. Even after Crow killed the Psion and Saladin became a Cabal, Saladin spoke to Crow in a kindness and respect akin to that of a father. It’s clear he understood Crow’s struggle and acknowledged what he was going through. Great story telling imo

I noticed that eris ended her statement to crow with trust. It’s probably nothing but drifter basically coined the term trust. When he uses it though, it typically means the opposite if memory serves

I know guilt, and the need to atone is immense. The key is knowing how much atonement is enough. Otherwise it's an existence full of self loathing with no end in sight.

I used to absolutely despise Uldren Sov, even since D1, and moreso after what he did in Forsaken. But, I'm a sucker for a good redemption arc, and while I cannot forgive Uldren, Crow, is not Uldren. I'm happy to know that he is trying to be better, and I can respect him for it.
I never blamed Uldren, he was tricked by Riven. We could of just as easily been tricked into killing someone like that if some guy told us to really. Crow not only isn’t Uldren but even if he was Uldren he wouldn’t have to prove anything
I have a sneaking suspicion that Crow, after finally coming to terms with his deep-seated guilt and self loathing through important lessons such as those taught to him by Saladin and others, will be reforged, become himself at long last and become the next Hunter Vanguard.
I think on that day, even Cayde would approve and have a little chuckle wherever he is.
I think cayde had a chuckle when crow was first resed in the dreaming city. He was probably passed at first but the was laughing afterwards.

Crow did complete Cayde's dare. The dare was whoever killed him took his mantle. The question is, is if Crow is absolved of Uldren's debt

When Crow finishes working through all of his stuff and ascends to be the new Hunter vanguard, we will have a worthy successor to Cayde. I'm pretty sure that Cade would be proud of his successor too.
Crow will eventually show his full redemption. He'll learn, whether the hard way through action or the easy way with seeing what Uldren has done and move on. He has to really sell that he's not Uldren, not just to everyone around him, but more importantly himself.
Also, NVIDIA sent you an Alienware? I can't believe they'd send you a waste of silicon due in part from Dell, you deserve better.
Picture this:
The darkness has overcome the Last City. We, the guardians and our friends, have been pulled in close to witness the death of the Traveller. The thing that brought us into this world is about to be destroyed by the Witness and his almighty power. One man stands forward, taking one last stroll and shot at this great being upon whom has caused us all so much pain...
It's just him. Its just Crow. He knows what has lead to this moment. It was time to show the world that he is Uldren Sov no longer. He is a Guardian. As our wrists were chained from doing anything major, we were able to take out a weapon which carried a lot of history, and ultimately, a lot of power. The Ace of Spades.
The witness turns to meet Crow, ready to unleash the final attack upon the last standing Guardian. Crow takes one last look at us all. His comrades. His teachers. His friends. He makes the judgement call that he must stand here and now. Even if we fail, it would mean more than anything in this world to see that we fought for good to our dying breaths. As Crow took one last look at his people, he saw it - our weapon.
With it being sent to him from a high distance, he raised his hand and gripped its handle with all his will, and without hesitation, pointed it towards the witness. The barrel was ignited. *Memento Mori* was upon it. Crow was scared. Though he remained fearless, he was more fearful than anyone in that moment.
"You take it upon yourself to be their saviour... They all ridiculed you... Resented you... Despised you... Hated you... Why do you continue to fight for something so finite when you could reach salvation?" The Witness questioned, causing Crow to doubt what he was doing. He took one glance at the weapon in his hand. Words echoed in his mind. Not his, but someone else's. Someone from a dark past.
*"What would Cayde do...?"*
Crow gripped the hand cannon with everything he had, looking the Witness in the eye with all fear removed. With all doubt cleared of his judgement. He knew he could never replace Cayde, but he knew that Cayde would do the exact same thing as everyone else - fight for right.
"Let us see what shall prevail, Sov..."
The words sting, but they did not falter his mind. As Crow was about to pull the trigger, a bright light emiited from beside him. A pure white light, taking shape of something. No. Someone.
A hunter of great legend appeared. One of whom the streets once mourned for and celebrated. Crow knew his face, and that only made him more motivated. The hunter projected its own hand cannon too, identical to the one Crow held in his hand. The hunters took aim at the Witness. While one last stand was great, this one would be remembered for millennia to come. No more worry. No more fear.
The trigger was pulled.

The only way Crow can reconcile his and Uldren's lives is by forgiving Uldren and understanding that there are people in his life that may _never_ forgive Uldren and him by proxy, namely Halliday.
I feel like crow should have a talk with Saint, he could give him some great insights.

Great crazy kudos for the development of Saladin's character arc. For showing that he has had to tamp down that compassion under a facade of hardened bluster. Many people were giving him grief for being a fuddy duddy, borderline intolerant angry old man, but he has always been far more compassionate than we gave him credit for.
That he is uncompromising doesnt mean he cannot learn from experience and evolve the way he interacts with even those he sees as enemies.
With this back story and grief of his past life, it makes me wonder. What if in light fall, we are sent down the same rabbit hole and remember our past life? Would it be good? Would we get horrific flashes from the collapse in the middle of missions? Could this maybe be the true trick of “salvation” the witness would want us to reflect on? Just like how the witness’s first disciple went through it? An with crow going forward, I feel we will definitely re-visit the burnt throne room of the reef in a mission with crow before crow is able to move on and understand his moral purpose in this situation.
you could've also talked about amanda holliday realizing that crow was uldren there are a few lore tabs on the sparrows of this season that talk about it

Notice Eris says, ‘Trust.’ Someone’s been spending time with the old man Drifter I see.
Something I think a lot of people miss, or forget, is that for all intents and purposes, Crow is a child. He views things without the centuries of experience, nuance, and - yes - cynicism that people like Zavala, Eris, Saladin and Ikora have. He doesn't offer compromise on what he feels is right and wrong because his perception of them is much newer, and in a way, more pure, than theirs. There's a reason The Traveler has been guiding him, and I genuinely think that this is part of that reason. Yes, he needs to learn how to moderate his responses, but that doesn't mean he's inherently wrong to have those responses in the first place. When he asked in the Psisorium "you understand, don't you?" my immediate thought was "yes, I do, absolutely. But you should have waited."
We should be more like Crow, honestly.

It's incredible how Bungie's storytelling has grown from plain good vs evil to the complex storylines and characters it is today. Truly a studio that has matured with it's game.
maybe a little off topic, but ive been going through old footage and found a line of dialogue in the override activity where mithrax mentions a someone named 'Skirra the watcher' The name reminds me of the witness as the dialogue continues.
Mithrax describes Skirra as a 'Manipulator' and a 'shapechanger'. This links back to the witness and what she has done.
maybe Skirra is the witness in Eliksni legend?
I've always wondered _why_ the vanguard would make Crow part of such important Ops like Elbrus, when he is very clearly new to not only being a guardian in general, but living a life of fighting. He is still rather inexperienced and naive, especially to be included in such important operations. He's had a real shit time, especially compounded by dealing with the return of his memories. The dude needs time to process all this, and to cut his teeth on less vital ops until he's ready.

I think it’s important to note that Savathun tested the affect of telling a “guardian” the truth of their past before she became one herself.
And of course what is the long game of having someone like crow live with this guilt and what it will result in (so far almost dividing the vanguard)
Nah I think Crow was a simple test subject for Savathun + one Last middle finger to Mara by savotaging her plan to bring her brother back slowly.

Her conversion to the light was an "inflection point". She still schemes but none of her plans were prepared for the eventuality of her gaining the light, Only the memory backups, the other's would have been pointless because she wouldnt have remembered about them anyways.

Even Saladin knows Crow has a lot of trauma and a storm of guilty in his mind. I really think he has depression. I feel sorry for him. I fear he would becomes Uldren someway for try to do something stupid to get our forgiveness.

While I don’t exactly trust the speaker, I can’t deny that he could certainly help with calming a lot of the anxiousness the characters are suffering from right now. It’s almost like we’ve lost a father and are now having to fend for ourselves
As a Hunter main I hate Uldren in every way but Crow needs to understand that they are completely different people. Uldren was guilable and highly dependent while Crow is very much the opposite. Poor kid just needs some time off and maybe a beer with the guardian.
I feel bad for crow, he’s trying to make up for sins that arent his own when i feel he doesn need to, he just needs to do good and in time people will see him for him, also eris has been having out with drifter too much speaking a bit like him

To all those who hate Crow. Not Uldren, which is understandable, but Crow: He has chosen to fight for those like him, those who suffer in this war. The Eliksni of House Light are a good example, the Lucent Hive a bad one.
What do you fight for? Fun? Loot?
Or do you fight for something more? I am helping fight this war so that one day, it can end. How many of you will be able to trade your swords for plowshares when our fight is finally over? And how many of you will cause more suffering by trying to perpetuate conflict for personal gain?
Those are two sides to choose from. The choice is yours. As it has always been.

Guardians fight to defend the Last City from all threats foreign and domestic. The alliance with the Cabal is our best shot at that. Until Crow almost singlehandedly undid years of work. Only reason the alliance survived is because Saladin survived Siva to surrender his life to Caiatl in place of Crow's. If Bungie gives the choice to kill him I'm taking it without hesitation. Uldren or Crow. It matters not. They're both murderers we'd be better of without.
What crow did wasn’t murder more of involuntary manslaughter, you become no better than Mara with here solution to liabilities being kill them. So lemme ask you if you kill crow who you say is a murderer who is the real murderer you or crow?

I still wonder where Mara Sov really fits in. Her machinations are right up there with Savathun. She manipulates everyone which makes me wonder what her true end goals are. Manipulation & narcissism go hand in hand. She claims to want the best for her people, but what's her true definition of "best". It's likely grotesquely different from ours and theirs. Just a thought.
the lore is great and all, but my favorite part is still seeing Eris using Drifter's vocabulary more and more
It's a small thing, but a nice touch. Eris has been hanging around the Drifter a lot more and probably even started liking his company, you can tell cause of the "Trust". Most people who study mannerisms and human behaviour will tell you that changes like vocabulary and gestures happen over the course of long periods of time which is indicative of Eris and Drifter having spent a lot of time around each other and Drifter rubbing off on her. I could be reaching but I feel like Bungie added that in there as a nod to the growing friendship/professional partnership between Eris and Drifter.
Like Red Hulk had to learn, Crow must forgive himself. That’s the last person who must forgive him.

This random but I think it would be really awesome if we got a faction of guardians that turned on the vanguard and established themselves as dark guardians. Imagine facing AI guardians and crushing their Ghosts like the lucient hive! Imagine a powerful entity that could suppress Crow and give Uldren control? I don't want him to die but I think it would be fun and interesting.
Here's my prediction for next season:
Xivu Arath is gathering the forces of the Witness under her banner. Hive, Scorn, Taken, they all flock to join the armies of the Goddess of War. Calus and Yirix reorganise the renegade Cabal and Psions into a new Dark Legion to support her, and the House of Salvation hatch a scheme to revive Eramis in Exo form.
In the hopes of delaying the assembly of the Witness' armies and Disciples, Crow takes it upon himself to lead reconnaissance, sabotage and assassination operations against the Disiples' chosen champions. As we eliminate these leaders, we see Crow demonstrating a more pragmatic but merciless attitude towards our enemies, but also learn of his determination to rectify his behaviour as he finally finds the solution to his dilemma. instead of asking himself "What wouldn't Uldren do," he would ask "What would Crow do," taking what Saladin taught him into every account.
this seems like a final season of the year narrative

Anyone else notice that Eris seemingly mimicked The Drifter with ending her statement with "Trust."? I thought it was a neat detail. I could be wrong if that was the intent or not. But it's nice to see little things like that.
That "Trust" sounds like she's been getting more familiar with Drifter...Hehehe, that's a nice little nod to those two friendship or relationship (?)
