The area is called the Darién Gap and it's about 100 miles of thick jungle that would be completely impassible with that rig. The Panama Canal is not an issue; there are two bridges that go over the canal that you can drive on. He is right that the best way to get around the Darién Gap is on a ship, which there are several options.

Only issue with truck was replacement of original fuel pump in Mexico
