- Valkyrie Elysium is a game Ive had a lot of time with now and I don’t think it’s been getting the credit it deserves. Today I review everything about Valkyrie Elysium and go into what it did great and what the flaws are. I obtained every possible ending and ended my hard mode run at 32 hours. What do you think of Valkyrie Elysium and did u agree with my points? :) #valkyrieelysium

Great review! Valkyrie Elysium is a darn good action rpg. People are trashing on this game already, i mean i get it, the story and characters are a bit barebones, and its as far from the original Valkyrie Profile experience as it gets, but it's not that bad of a game. It got Ys inspired combat, it's great. Sometimes you just want to play a simple old school hack and slash game, and that's exactly the vibes the team tried to go for And it's not a bad thing, it's never been a bad thing, Way too many pretentious people call these type of games outdated. Hack and slash games is a niche that desperately needs as much support and attention as possible, seeing how saturated the action scene is in gaming nowadays.
I agree with everything you have said and it’s true it’s easy to hop on this game and just have a chill time it’s not too convoluted
For sure! Sometimes it’s fun to play a game that’s very much a video game. I just got finished playing a string of Fromsoft games so it’s nice to play something more relaxing and fun.
You know what this game is the one of futuristic JRPG, I don't care about review of any sites that very speking negatively with the game... The fact there is people like you is making the game and developer alive :)

There’s just something about this game I love and can’t get enough of. The gameplay clicks so well for me , the atmosphere, the simplicity. I do enjoy something like Bayonetta, but all the story and “things” to do and keep up with and flash on the screen just detract from the core experience imo. This game is pretty much just get down to it: PURIFY THOSE SOULS.. and I just love it for that. The combat lets you dive in and do it however you want, and every time you play through a level you can do it a different way. It’s a shame the negative reviews are SO negative, I feel like those people are expecting something that this game is clearly not and holding it against the developers for that. Though this isn’t the most polished effort, it is clear to me that a lot of work went into making this, even though detractors are calling it a low effort cash grab.

I totally agree. I’ve been having a blast playing through Hard mode. I know it gets hated on but I love the art style. It looks great on PS5 🎮

@@SweisSenpai yeah a lot of so called true jrpg gamers say its a stain on the franchise its not worthy of the name like i got dunked on for likeing star ocean 4 and 5 just cuz you dont like it dont come after me for enjoying it.
I agree with what you say about the game, the combat especially is great fun and maybe makes me feel like a better player than I really am. It's a fairly casual experience, not life changing story-wise and quite brief but I'm enjoying my time with it. It's well voiced albeit a little corny, but the actors can only use what they're given. I only just realised there are multiple endings. I missed a key interaction first time through (they were right there on the map!) and just progressed to the standard one. I've now got the second and third and just need to go back and pick up a couple of things for the true ending. I'd say that the multiple endings and the new updates have improved the value a fair bit. It's a solid 8/10 for me - it does what it sets out to do.
Great comment! The game is much beefier with the updates and it is just a chill experience to smack some enemies in with very satisfying combat
Good video and yeah it was a good time this game was, and I’ll will get to the true ending as well as the other 2 ones at some point, maybe after the DLC.

Great review, I loved this game and was looking for at least one review I could agree with and this one fit the bill. I've heard this game get criticized for being repetitive, but I like how the game doesn't waste your time. What other's call repetitive, I call honesty. This game knows it's all about the combat and that is what you're getting through and through. No one likes that part in a video game that completely breaks the pace and makes you do something you don't want to do, and this game has none of that. There is no "water level", metaphorically speaking (coming from someone who actually liked the Water Dungeon).
The story gets criticized a lot but I actually think the characters themselves are interesting in a vacuum, it's a shame most of their personalities and backstories are shown in optional content. Also, the true ending and Armand ending are phenomenal.

This looks cool. I've always been more of an action game guy but I picked up Scarlet Nexus recently because I heard the combat was good and I've been really enjoying it. So now I'm learning how many jrpgs have really fun combat and I've been looking for more, this one is definitely high up on the wishlist now. Thanks for the review.

I just got this on sale. I'm 5 hours ish in. I think they've got the foundation for an absolutely amazing game. If they take the feedback from people that weren't just hating because it wasn't the old games I think they could make another that would surprise a lot o people.

This game is definitely awesome. A shame Square barely advertised it and the reviews are overly harsh just because they wanted to be. The combat is satisfying and fun and the controller feedback is satisfying. Easily one of the most entertaining games I played this year. This is an underrated gym just like Chorus imo.

The game isnt bad. I understand your criticisms and praises. But i just wish the world felt more alive and there was more to do in it besides smashing boxes amd fighting enemies while going from point to point. Thankfully there is a new arena mode coming and more story content with a new character on the way. But idk.. i wanna like it and not just blindly hate on it cause thats the trend. But something just feels off for me. Nevertheless, nice seeing someones less negative review/opinion on the game for once. 👍

Compared to VP2's battle system I think this is a HUGE step back...
It's very different but it's extremely fun so I think it'd ok
They are both different and while I was not an OG fan I think this new style is a lot of fun
I think this just made me want to get it. I can get the ps5 version for $20 right now. With your review it sounds like a steal.
For $20, If u want a fun action game with not too much to think about besides fun combat yes total steal lol. People who didn’t like this game wanted more, which is understandable but a chill action game is always nice

Imo this is what final fantasy XV lacked heavily. There was zero weight to combat and it made the combat feel incredibly flat. I’m loving this game personally
You get what I was saying hahah I had this exact issue with FFXV. Even if Elysium is shorter the combat is always fun to play and u feel strong
It’s one of those games that has a solid base that can easily be refined into an absolute gem. I think people are overlooking what this franchise can become if they embrace the change in direction and give constructive criticism instead of blind hate. The Final Fantasy franchise is a perfect example of exploring new ideas and creating exceptional and unique experiences. And like Final Fantasy we have the older games to go back to if we want the OG experience.
Dude this game was such a let down, it feels terrible to me. The camera, pc controls, no cancel, re-skinning to death, lame characters, lame story, horrible level design, bad arenas, etc. The only thing good about it was the art style and..... Nope that's about it just the art style. Seriously though, the combat felt bad and so sluggish, all the weapons felt like I was over-encumbered. Everything else felt so half-baked it was just depressing to play because you could see there was a good game somewhere in there if they would've refined it, but they didn't, they shoved it out underdone and then left it to die. That's kinda Square's M.O. anymore. I got it for like 20-30 bucks and still feel like I wasted my money. Anyway glad somebody got some fun out of it.
All of your points are definitely valid I must say though I don’t consider a combat system good if it just follows every tradition other ones do. This game has so many different ways to counter and parry, magic always gives you I frames no matter how long the animation, and magic cancels combos. This game is a bit weird but I wholeheartedly loved pulling off crazy combos and big magic on tough bosses in the Seraphic gate

For me at chapter 9 the game just feels so unbalanced especially when you get to fight Hilde the game just gets harder out of nowhere. I don't know if I'm missing something but everything just takes a huge chunk out of my life bar in this fight.
Hmmm tbh this game was on the much easier end even on hard mode so all I can say is go back and make sure to get more things for your skill tree and rememeber spam magic that the enemies are weak too and then go for the kill. U are invincible during all magic so easy to heal

It's 70 bucks for 8 hrs. No replayability and gets old. It's really not underrated.
I finished at 30 hours. To only have 8 u would’ve had to do the bare minimum. Also going back and trying to S rank the missions is a lot of fun and has a lot of replay ability imo
