After 100 hours in Rise of the Ronin I wanted to bring you my review and explain why I enjoyed Rise of the Ronin so much and who this game may interest. Glad not everyone Is dumping on this game. Cause I would like to see team ninja make a sequel with a many improvements and a better look.

This is my game of the year, this game plays way better than it first looks, after you get deep into it then it picks up, the combat is insane and story nice and lengthy

People don't understand the genius of team ninja design. Their games are weird at first but when you master them nothing compares

This game is such a blast. So many reviews were making it sound so bland and uninspired but that’s so not true. The combat is fantastic, the setting is awesome, the art direction is really good. Solid 4/5.

Just to add, there are nine hidden bosses from earlier TN games that are a lot of fun, though hard. Also, most of the characters are actually historical as are the events in the story, which made it even more interesting for me. It's a period where the Shogunate and the Imperial forces are at odds and your choices do matter.

Question for the hidden bossed, are they marked somewhere in the options when you beat them, to make easier to track them down? I've got 4 or 5 of them so far.

Ive been playing almost every day and i love love this game. I love ghost of tsushima but you were limited to the katana. I like the different weapons and the combat styles are really cool compared to niohs just high mid and low stance. Im still trash at this game im on normal and its a decent difficulty. Im maybe 30+ hours in and only in map 2 still with sections i never touched. I love the transmoging also. I bought DD2 and havnt went back to it from day 1. I hope hope hope they add DLC and more weapons.

Definitely try twilight mode. Its about equal to nioh 2. And theres also midnight that you unlock. I started with twilight cuz i want the true team ninja experience (brutal). And yes this game is a return to grace for combat design and depth. I don't think it's really any worse than nioh 2 which is their best combat since ninja gaiden 2.
I will be going right into the harder modes now! What’s crazy is I’ve yet to play Nioh 2 and I love Team Ninja. Glad to hear this game matches that for you
@@SweisSenpai you absolutely need to. Ninja gaiden fans like to disagree (even though i am one lol) but i believe that is the first game that finally was a title on par with ninja gaiden 1/2. It is an insane challenge and loads of depth and complexity
Love to hear it. Gonna finish my play through of Nioh and then get right into 2. Imo Ronin is on par with Ninja Gaiden combat at least for me
Same 😂I chose twilight on purpose to slow down the pace and get trapped. This game is so fun I don’t want it to end. I’m 46 hours in and have only just finished clearing the Yokohama area collectibles. But just did the consulate mission where you first find your twin. I’ll have easily 100 hours by the time I finish and in 5 months I’ll revisit the game again to beat it on Midnight

Finished this game on Twilight a few days ago, incredible experience. Really eager to pierce further into Midnight difficulty and start properly engaging with the extremes of the RPG layer. Masterwork rarity gear letting you overwrite whatever Traits/Substats you want by pulling them onto existing slots from other gear you don't mind breaking is such a cool system.
YESSS I love the masterwork gear. No joke I could put another 100 hours in but I gotta try Dragons dogma 2 hahaha. So glad u enjoyed as much as me it’s legit peak
This game needs some love you can tell Team Ninja put that work in this game! Not perfect but it’s still a solid underrated game! Hope it’s making good sales for another sequel with improvements and visuals

My 1st impressions about the game were not that good and didnt want to buy it.
But now after ~40 hours, i am in Act 2, i cant stop playing!
Rise of the Ronin is awesome!! I love the fast and bloody combatsystem!
Graphics not mindblowing, but the gameplay is absolut Top!

Act 2 killed my enjoyment of the game. It took away the open-world. The game became super linear. If I try to walk out the gate I'm given 2 options of destinations the game wants me to fast-travel to. I no longer have the ability to free roam the open world. It was like a bad trade. I unlocked the ability to replay missions, but lost open world exploration in the process.
@@Dandoskyballer You can replay missions OR to choose free roam the maps every time you use the Testament of souls. I had no problems with it.
Most accurate review of this game that I have seen on TH-cam. Well done. Bought a ps5 for stellar blade but this game feels better in terms of combat.

Combat in Stellar Blade is fun. I do however dislike not being able to skip cutscenes NG+.

I am going to get this game,whether you tubers like it or not.I just don't run out and buy every new game that comes out.I'm not really a team ninja fan either,but I'm feeling this game.
You hold down R1 for martial skills, not L1, unless you can change it of course, im not even sure if you can, I know there different presets because I changed my Sprint to L3 because it just felt awkward to hold circle to Sprint when 90% of these games Sprint with L3
Does it have character creator?
Call me crazy, but I like this more than Stellar Blade.

Excellent review. I love simple, peaceful open world-side missions and activities. In Spider-Man 2, I spent two hours just flying around with Howard’s birds.

I’m very happy there’s difficulty settings because medium the second difficulty I forget what they called it was perfect for me not to easy but not to challenging either

U mean change it off L1? It starts with it on L1

Really conflicted by this one. Just watched Fighting Cowboys review on it, when it comes to Team Ninja & Soulslikes he’s a massive fan and he was kinda meh on this. I’m pleased people are enjoying it but does it reach the heights of Nioh 2? That was TN’s Crown Jewels. Enjoyed Wu Long well enough to play it 3 times but it was a pale shadow compared to Nioh 2.
Nioh 2 was the best imo, but in this one, cool thing, you can redo the missions without the open world part to explore new difficulty, new loot, and new twist plots.
I've enjoyed this game, just the ow is AC style, and the gameplay is less deep than Nioh or Wo Long (less personnalisation, you play with stances but not so much with the martial arts which are already presetted, excepted one you can change once you master the stance), but still fun.
While it may not hit the heights of Nioh 2, it gets pretty darn close and the game has a lot of fun content to get into more so than Wo Long imo

It's such a great game, I have 50+ hours so far. Some people are getting too hung up on visuals and the fact that's it's not some mind glowing GOAT experience. All the positive reviews are saying the same thing; it's fun and has great combat.
I loved my time with this game the entire story line was fun but what made me completely check out after feeling like I did EVERYTHING was the surprise endgame difficulty that just made it feel like a slog if I'm being honest. I wanted to keep playing but it just turned from fun to a chore for me at that point. Feeling like all my upgrades meant absolutely nothing was a spirit breaker lol. Still want a sequel for the story though.

You certainly start of the video with a great point. Team ninja(koei tecmo in general) does not advertise thier games much. Pretty sure thier marketing budget is like a fourth of production cost

Will i like this this game if i didnt like nioh? My main gripe was the combat was too complicated with all the moves. I like the simplicity of sekiro and souls games.
This game is more simplified than Nioh for sure so I think u may enjoy it more. Very fun combat
Why doesn't anyone ever mention stranger of paradise when talking about other team ninja games, especially considering it came out after both nioh games, and gameplay and progression wise is one of their better ARPGs imo
I copped it after finding out that it had character customization, I had NO idea until watching a TH-cam clip!!! Just to emphasize how little advertising this title has.
While I enjoy the game overall, the parry is a bit too tight on normal. It feels unpolished compared to Wo Long. Still great but that parry definitely brings it down.

Graphics fine. Combat amazing. Story interesting. Side content plentiful, some stuff better than others. Several different fighting styles. Great interesting story. Meaningful choices that impact your story thus creating high replay value. Fantastic character creation, 1 of the best Ive seen in my 48 years. Evetyone else.....6 out of 10. What I do ❤ is how side content relates to the time perood, so aye ok, bandits etxmc, but it makes sense unlike some ow games that stuff their world full of guff.

I almost didn’t buy this game because if the reviews, but I am VERY glad I trusted my instincts. The graphics are actually good, performance is a smooth 60fps, and the combat is incredible.

Took a punt on dragons dogma 2 on release and im still not open to Ronin . Having played dd2. This game doesn't do it for me and its not cheap . Looking forward to Steĺler blade.

My opinion is that it’s a Good game and haters will hate. It’s what they do!
I played through the story on dawn difficulty...dropped it on midnight...not for me anymore...
I`m playing it right now it`s decent. Combat is great, but everything else is meh. Story have no stakes, you can battle someone and spill their guts all over the place only for them to rise in the cutscene, comment of how great the fight was, and leave while you`re just looking. Many games use this, but not to this extent. Amount of characters is overwhelming, you meet new faces every few missions, but very few are given actual screentime. It`s confusing to remember who is who and what are their stakes, and keep in mind game has no repercussions for you to work both factions, it`s just silly. You kidnapp a guy, fight to the death with his friend who attempts to save him, beat the friend and give the guy to your employer, only to realize the guy is still standing on his usual spot afterwards, because employer had a change of heart, and his friend you almost murdered is completetely chill about it like "oh, it`s you, go easy on me next time, hehe". WTF.
Also, i want more stances for not-so-popular weapons. Katanas have 12 stances, most of the weapons have 3. It`s just unbalanced.
I finished and loved.
However, let's not forget a few things.
First , it costs 70 dollars and some PS3 games look better.
Then it tool them apparently 10 years to do this game. 10 years is normally Red Dead Redemption 2 level of detail and work.
Third, so many people defend team ninja as being good in combat. A game can't just choose one thing and ignore the rest, especially when doing an open world game. Those people talk as if you had to choose.
Finally, to this day, Ghost of Tsushima with Iki Island costs less.
It's good but not as good as a 70 $ level could and should be. It also does not look like a game worked on for 10 years. We are in 2024. There are existing standards.
You make great points! Tbh tho I got more fun out of this any day than something like Red Dead where it feels clunky as heck. Combat depth means a lot to some people and to me it made every encounter in this game fun:) I feel u though on some of the standards especially for an open world game. Thanks for watching

Nioh 2 combat is the best without a doubt.
Gotta try for myself. Only played the first Nioh but I know 2 has a crazy reputation so I’m hyped to play it

It isnt underrated, platinumed it on ps5. its very cool and feel like NIOH with open world, but then you realize the story doesnt get intresting and you keep doing the same thing over and over. I was happy to be over with the game around third map, and what do they do after it? you return to map 2 and suddenly the public order is all over the place again- and you have to go to each zone and do it again. also, the blocking and counter-attack which is fine but so much baiting and even "slow downs" can f you over. also in the third map, I had snow world and normal world changing during time, and even after cutscenes- wtf?! I wish the main story had got some more focus, feels they put all the effort into making 3 big maps. should have sticked with 1 or 2 and improved the story and main missions, you never really feel like its a big civil war because the cutscenes never try to show it.
everyone who's actually played this game loves it, the vast majority of people who have slagged this game off in their shitty youtube shorts have never even played it. This game is on fucking point, 70 hours in and still hooked hard
most haters are graphics nuts who expects the game look like real life or XBOX fans.

have to admit that the more I see of this game the less I get intrested in buying it rn.
I assume the gameplay is fun and its a round game...but everything I see about the open world makes it look like another game that just has an open world to have an open world because its trendy. And those are usually the types of open world that I cannot stand
While it is true the activities themselves are sometimes mundane, I really did enjoy running around it the whole time. Clearing camps and seeing civilizations wonder around again, making bonds with characters that are actually cool around the world. I really do reccomend
where else do you put all the cool stuff? jk I hated Wo Long due to having to run around looking for the banners each level, in Ronin they are fast travel points. But then, I liked AC Odyssey so...😅
@@liukaosborne I think the use of the banner in Wo Long was super smart. Specially since you never needed to use them. You had the option of ignoring them and level up by killing enemies. You just had to live with the consequences when you die.
This open world looks like another one where my whole map is going to be clutered with a checklist that I will never want to finish. But thats ofc only my opinion.
I still bought the game yesterday as I found a very good deal. It should be here by thursday maybe I can find something to love about the game

I dont like it. The sword fightinh style looks like crap. Looks like some chinese knockoff game labeled japanese.
It is just a bigger but worse Way of the Samurai 4, with far less satirical humor.
