I thought it was a solid just-average game. I think it's clear, like you said, that the studio just didn't have the budget and, probably, time. You could see glimpses of brilliance, but they don't really add up to an ultimate experience.
I'll take what I can get! Nostalgia aside, the game is pretty good for what it is even though it felt "unpolished." At the same time, I feel that elysium brought newcomers in, which is good.
Valkyrie Elysium is a darn good action rpg, especially the combat. People are trashing on this game , i mean i get it, the story and characters are a bit barebones, and its as far from the original Valkyrie Profile experience as it gets, but it's not that bad of a game. Sometimes you just want to play a simple old school hack and slash game, and that's exactly the vibes the team tried to go for And it's not a bad thing, it's never been a bad thing, Way too many people call these type of games outdated. Hack and slash games is a niche that desperately needs as much support and attention as possible, seeing how saturated the action scene is in gaming nowadays.
It was a very average, serviceable game imo. I knew ppl were gonna hate on it the moment a "certain" vallyrie showed up in the trailer and ppl were spamming L in the stream chat. Its kinda like Forspoken... i think people are just intent on hating something and no amount of measured logic or observation will steer them from doing so.
CHILL Action JRPG It's exactly what I want. It's decent. Im fine with no cancelling as a Tekken player and DMC player. No cancelling of some moves here is fine since its a change to being able to cancel and I thought people wanted dark souls difficulty? Also I went in with extremely low expectations I'm fine with being casual here If I want to be a hardcore gamer I would play Tekken 7 or DMC but I'm just trying to chillax with a JRPG I'm not saying the combat is perfect. If I want to be hardcore I will have to wait for Tekken 8 with my Ryzen 7 new desktop I just built. I'm just happy to play as Valkyrie it's simplistic but kinda deep with a lot of options so it's cool I'm not here to prove my skills just smash some demons with my Valkyrie waifu, enjoy the story and play some VP1 and VP2 battle bgm. It's still has some VP DNA with the graphics, world, music, them and a little with the combat. Oh and learn how to slide in elysium while playing vp1 music you might like it.
I went into this one completely blind and I'll agree that it really isn't _that_ bad, but after a while it got super draining and repetitious to me. I think the slow pace of traversal and the limited enemy variety are the game's biggest issues. I think if you take your time with it you could have a lot more fun with it than I did though.
for me is an okay game but I wouldn't pay 59.99. I bought it for 29.99 but I think you should buy it for 19.99 or just use that money on Valkyrie Profile Lenneth.
It's just a fun action game without many cutscenes and talky walky moments to ruin the pacing which reminds me of the good old days of gaming. It's a good 7/10 game
Idk I played the demo last night and the gameplay felt fun, i used to play like ps1 FF and stuff growing up but I skip cutscenes now lmao. Mage DMC vibes, and the parkour is fun.

I really like Valkyrie Elysium.
It's not that bad... But people thinking so allowed me to get it for thirty bucks, so....

While I did enjoy the game, I mostly bought it because it came with valkyrie profile (granted the lenneth port) as a bonus. Felt like a good deal
