Bleeding the master cylinder, that was odd, not like bleeding brake's, what's the thinking there, with pumping the clutch pedal/master cylinder and there not being a steady stream of fluid going through the pipe attached to the bleed valve? I know you over filled at the brake/clutch fluid reservoir to pull the fluid through while you pumped from the master cylinder side. The top up pipe going from the reservoir to the master cylinder then onto the slave in the gear box. That's the bit that confuses me haha. I thought we're meant to push the clutch pedal down, hold it there close the bleed valve, raise the clutch pedal, open the bleed valve and repeat till a steady stream of fluid is seen in the pipe attached to the bleed valve. Sorry mate. Not being funny here at all, just baffled with how that works the way you do it and it obviously being correct.
I’ve probably done about 6/7 of them 02M/02Q boxes and they are very heavy (63kgs roughly) the way you just pulled it out 😂 that part takes me about half an hour on my own! Good strength sir
Chris you’re absolutely right. They are quite heavy. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think this particular box is used in the 2L suv range VAG’s biggest manual gearbox.
Can't say anything that hasn't already been said probably thousand times. Splendid work !!! I've done a few clutches on my back myself, they're no easy tasks. Have a great one.... take care of yourself and your body !!!!
Excellent video! I'm tackling this job this weekend. What size multispline tools did you use on the half shafts and the flywheel itself? Judging from the video, there are only regular nuts and bolts used everywhere, eles?
Very good work. I have the mk8 they have the same setup I found out the hydraulic release bearing of these type of cars are not lasting very long. Get a very spongy feeling. Do you have any tips?

Superb video friend. Plz suggest which clutch plate pressure plate and flywheel is suitable for 2006 Skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi alh diesel 5 speed manual? Luk or sachs? There is little sound coming from gearbox side in morning when engine is cold for few minutes then becomes normal. Clutch is soft, gears engages normally. Little sound when clutch press, sound goes when clutch release. Plz suggest friend. Thanks
This is my personal view. Sachs has a stronger rigid pressure plate very good if you’ve had a remap. Everyday driving smooth on the pedal and shifting due to an adjustable pressure plate LUK is good. Better on the left knee.
@Kevin-Albert Williams Thanks friend for your expert advice. Here in India, mechanic is suggesting Sachs. And I am not sure how to identify original vs duplicate. Should I change everything? 100 k on odometer.
@@WMCS Thanks Kevin. CSC failed at under 40k - gradual loss of pedal height then eventually stayed on floor - clamped flex hose to eliminate master cylinder and pedal was solid so buggered - box out. Thanks so much for the outstanding camera work 🙏 and for showing how to correctly bleed the CSC 🙏🙏🙏 Mark.
Is there a reason you put rubber grease on the bolt holes of the transmission? I understand why you put it on the input shaft but I dont understand why you put it on the bolt holes. Can you enlighten me?
Nice video dear friend. Hi bro from India. Need help. There is a little rattle noise coming from gearbox side in the morning in my 2006 skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi diesel alh 5 speed manual 110k on odo. After warm, noise reduces. And when I press clutch , little noise comes which goes after releasing clutch. Otherwise, clutch is normal soft, gear engagement normal. What you think I should do? do I need to change Dual mass flywheel along with clutch plt, pressure plt ,release bearing? Luk or sach? Is converting DMF to SMF is safe ? Thank you bro.
Using many tips from your videos, my son and I changed the clutch and flywheel on his mk3 Leon 2.0 TDI. Bought a Sachs setup. The leaflet insisted upon the use of a sac tool to install friction and pressure plate. Got a cheap tool off the bay. I have never seen the use of one on this channel though. Can you enlighten me a little ? Cheers John
Only thing to do using clutch alignment tool v/a SAC mounting tool Tighten the bolts in small increments always in an opposite pattern. The sac tool is basically pressing the plate down so you can tighten the bolts
That gearbox must be heavy and you must be quite strong. I dont know tho if a Toyota D4D 2.0L gearbox is heavier. What do you enjoy more Kevin, working on a VAG or Fiat?
Kevin, what procedure/ protocol do you do to confirm what the problem is before starting out? When do we get to see you do the Aston Martin, Bentley and Lamborghini 😃👍🏴
Give me a workshop and I’ll tackle these high end cars and make a performance of it 😁🍻🍻.. I’ll usually ask several questions and can determine what it requires. Only thing sometimes that I ask customer to get a confirmation to eliminate master cylinder from their local mobile mechanic.

Cats, always want to get involved 😼 Just out of curiosity was the clutch replaced because the DMF had failed?
That’s it. Pretty much the case all the time. Failed DMF. On average from what I’ve noticed they last about 60-80K miles

I did one just yesterday with over 200K miles.
Starts on the button and sweet as a nut. For sure

Would this be the same process for a 2015 Jetta tdi?
Same as the golf. Checkout the channel.

75w90. I fill using level plug till it overflows. But I think just under 1L don’t quote me check as I do so many cars and it’s hard to remember
