      @@Vinh1089 apparently its common for the dpf filter to crack due to heat stress. so most shops will just quote a replacement instead of a cleaning service, because you wouldnt know which one is needed until you pull it out completely.

    I am usa and want to bring my car to Korea for my VW TDI service.... this is not an automobile repair shop but a laboratory.... Ha ha. Takes the DPF out to clean? For preventative maintenance? Cleans the intake? Removed and bench flowed the injectors. Has all the special tools. Nice. In USA VW TDI driver / owners (like me for 13 yrs) maintain car but don't clean the emission system proactively. You wait for a check engine code and address it. If course you change air filter, fuel filter (massive) and oil & oil filter, rotate tires... that is it. The thing about diesels they are NOT good for short slow speed stop and go. They are designed to get on the road and drive at least over 55 mph or more (way more cruise all day at 80 mph while getting good MPG).

    Hope you fitted new injector bridge bolts as they are stretch bolts with initial torque, then torque angle. Looking at the way your torque wrench reacted when tensioning injector bridge 3&4, I would suggest not. I have seen them fail in service and eject the injectors when new (one shot pony) bolts are not fitted.
    Also didn’t see the O rings further up the injectors get replaced.
    If you don’t show these things, DIYers will follow you and make mistakes.
    Great video other than that though 👍

      As a DIY who knows little about working on cars, but wants to do everything in this video, I would NOT use this video as my only source. It goes too fast and obviously doesn't cover a lot I'll need to know. I'm an aircraft mechanic so I'm confident I'll be able to do the work, but I'll be using a much slower, step-by-steo video or written instructions. My only variable is I'm considering removing the DPF completely, but probably not the EGR. I'd be surprised if he didn't replace those O-rings BTW. On aircraft all O-rings are always replaced with new.

    • @iroquoispliskin6077
      @iroquoispliskin6077 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Andy Preston the added complexity is pretty much just sensors and emissions gear that any car has these days. You could set the engine up to run without most of the electronics but they do help. The EGR is what really causes the buildup in the intake and could be deleted. Without a DPF, EGR and cooler, it will run better and free up a lot of room around the engine.

    I've just replaced the EGR valve on a Golf 6 2.0 TDI with an new original one together with all the gaskets and accessories required.
    I've also cleaned the throttle body and the plastic intake gallery on the inside.
    After this operation, the car developed a problem it never had before, when the car does the normal DPF regeneration, the idle is fluctuating badly up and down, it goes under 800rpm and over 1100rpm when i'm wainting at a traffic light.
    Before the replacement, the regeneration would bring the RPM at around 1000 when the car stood still and it would stay like that, no fluctuations.
    I should also mention that the sound of the engine also changed a bit, it's a bit more rought, before it was sounding buttering smooth.
    Any ideas what could it be ?

    if i take this to a shop, what type of work do i ask to be performed for this type of tune up?

      It's more maintenance. He cleaned the intake manifold, throttle body, EGR, injectors, injector seats, and DPF. He removed a lot of carbon sludge that is built up from combining the exhaust gas from the EGR with oil/fuel blown passed during engine running. Some people call it carbon cleaning, others call it intake cleaning, injector cleaning and DPF flush, the name will vary from country to country and from garage to garage. You can even go one step further by walnut blasting the inlet ports and inlet valves.

    It wasn't that dirty, check out mine!
    I think is best to remove and clean dpf, egr and the intake system atleast every 50,000 miles. They will never get clogged!
