A few years ago when I was at my grandma’s house (it’s pretty old, my dad grew up there), and I had to share a room with both of my siblings. I got the bed while my siblings slept on a futon and a cot in the floor (ha, oldest privileges!). For a few nights, all of us heard scratching coming from the ceiling. I read a lot of ghost stories, and combining that with the fact the house was pretty old, of course I thought it was haunted. But one day, as my mom opens the towels cabinet, a RACCOON FALLS OUT AND HISSES AT HER FROM ON TOP OF ITS THRONE OF LINENS.

This was more than 10 years ago. I remember seeing objects being moved or falling down on a cupboard that we had. I thought nothing of it, and assumed that it was a rat or something.
Later on that night, I went into a walk in robe and saw a big shadowy figure in the dark staring at me.
I was spooked as shit and ran to my bed to sleep. The next morning, the walk in robe showed no signs of that figure who appeared. I haven't told my parents about this, as I have long forgotten about this.
There was also another really weird experience I had. In parents' bedroom, when I turned the lights off, I kept seeing a "snakelike figure" emerge from the curtains and come towards me slowly, appearing bigger as it did so.
Whenever I turned the lights on, it appeared to retreat back under the curtains. I kept doing this several times. I don't know if I was high as shit or something, but that was really chilling to see.
To this day, I still don't know why I didn't call my parents to take a look.
Bloody hell, my memory of that shadowy figure still creeps me out to this day, and I truly don't believe that I was hallucinating.

Haha, yes it's very American. We dont even know our neighbors who live next to us. Houses are commonly split and it depends on the families for whether or not they communicate. Often, they ignore and avoid each other.
Children and teens also keep to themselves in their rooms from their own family. I am guilty of this, my family isn't the best and really stresses me out.
I want to have a sense of community, but Americans aren't that keen on close community. There is also the fear of being betrayed, many people do not have your best interest at heart, even your own family.
Americans are just more individualistic and rude that way, it has its merits though. There is definitely a common sense of fear.

While it's really sad what happened to the cat... this is literally what's happening to cows, pigs and chicken everyday. You shouldn't be mad at someone for doing that to a cat when you're giving money to someone for doing that to a pig. Every animal deserves a life with a peaceful death, not just cats and dogs. And I know a lot of people are probably thinking now 'yikes. found the annoying vegan' but that doesn't stop those things from happening. Maybe I'm 'an annoying vegan' but it's a fact that millions of animals die just because some people like the taste of it. And if me pointing that out makes me annoying then I'll gladly be annoying. I just hope some people reading this stop being defensive and actually think about it and make a change ❤️

I was playing Ghost in the Graveyard with my brother and his friends late at night in a forest outside my house. Before we started, we agreed that if we saw someone then we would turn the flashlight on and off. If you saw the light go on and off you had to do the same thing with your flashlight. If the person you saw didn't turn their flashlight on and off, you had to run back to the house and hide with the dog. It was my turn to seek and I was really scared of the dark. I saw a dark figure near my mom's van and flashed my light three times. Instead of flashing a flashlight, the figure ran into the trees before I could see their face. I screamed and ran to the house. I crawled into my dog's doghouse and sat with her until everyone regrouped. We all regrouped pretty quickly because if youre in the dark and hear a little child scream you're obviously gonna be scared. My brother asked me what happened and I told him I saw a monster. Looking back, I'm glad we agreed on that rule. I thought it was dumb at the time, but it probably saved me from being kidnapped or killed

Ooo mine is a lil similar to yours! I had already explained in the replies of the pinned comment so I won’t be going into detail.
It was my friend (let’s call her by her nickname, Fifi) birthday. She was having a sleepover party and her place of course and since we literally lived 1 house away (we lived in an alley way where her house was on the other side of the alley, kind of like a very small, long street) she had invited me along with her two other friends (Fifi and one of her friends that went to our school, let’s call her Mia was a year older than me while the other friend, let’s call her Claire was 2 years older than me) Mia had to leave at 12 (am) since she wouldn’t be able to sleepover for some reason. I for some reason decided that it would be such a good idea to play host in the graveyard at 3 am, and surprisingly they agreed. Fifi had set her timer to 3 am and we went to bed. (we all slept in the same bed but it was big, dont you dare let your dirty mind think elsewise) when it was 3 am, I was the only one who had woken up. I remember closing the door (which was only a few steps away from the bed) and when I had woken up, it was wide open. I was a bit shaken from that. Right before I was going to wake Fifi up, I had seen what looks like a completely black hand coming out. Think of it as if a person were passing by a door. The hand wasn’t trying to get inside, more like passing by while it’s arm was exposed. You might be wondering, how I could see it’s hand if it’s 3 in the morning while it’s dark. The answer to that is right in front of the door, is the back door exit. It was completely dark at the time. (Btw it was fall) and you would still be able to see someone or something moving if it were to be exposed by the door. Once I saw the hand, I had started to cry while shaking and trying to wake Fifi up. Fifi had woken up, stilled tired obviously and wasn’t fully awake you know? I had told her what I saw and when we both looked by the door again, the hand arm was gone. She told me that I was just seeing things and went back to bed. I was frozen on the bed, shaking while crying for about 3 hours until I had finally worn out. To this day, I still believed that I most definitely saw what I had seen and let me remind you that her family was sleeping by the time I had seen the hand figure so it couldn’t have been them. Idk if I mentioned this or not but I was 10 years old when this happened, while it was my first ever sleepover, and I still have that memory as if it happened yesterday…

Actually I was JUST ABOUT TO COMMENT THAT EXACTLY. I know people make fun of “trigger warnings” but it is EXTREMELY upsetting to me to have to hear or read about animal abuse. I actually can deal with a lot of very difficult things with a logical perspective but in the same way it’s also because I am VERY empathetic and can put myself in someone else’s position in my mind emotionally (and from a logical perspective) extremely easily, so the animal abuse stories are the only ones that I cannot and DO NOT IN ANY WAY WANT to have to learn about in detail whatsoever. It is the most abject and obvious sign of sociopathic behavior and it for no other reason than the pure cruelty should be much much more harshly punished.

I was on my phone on the trampoline and I was listening to music and was on Instagram. I had looked up and noticed a figure running to this tree that was outside our house. When I was about 12 me and my friends were chilling at a playground just outside of one of my friends house, it was her birthday so there was a whole group of us, maybe 4 or 5? At the time, this playground was surrounded by bushes and large trees, if a car were to pass by you wouldnt be able to tell because of how isolated it was. While I was sitting on one of the swings, all natural sounds (nature, etc.) just stopped, my other friends noticed it, too. Then all of a sudden a raven began circaling us from above the trees. In my culture, ravens represent death (or tricksters but in this case it brought me a sense of dread). We happened to stop at the only working gas station an in the bathroom I kept hearing a weird snap of metal agenst metal. Only when we drove back an I had spoken to my mum while in the gas station saying the popping had went away I guess the cashier told my mum once I walked away (I was only like 8) that there had been a body with a metal bar though it in the roof of the gas station. So, when I was 9 I had some really bad sleep paralysis episodes that continued every night without fail, up until I was 16. Not my best years. One specific experience though, was when I was around 11. We lived in a townhouse, which is basically a house divided into two+ sections so multiple (usually low income) families can live there. Our neighbor who took the attic space was a dude name Jerry, and then the lady with the other half of the house was this old lady I don't remember the name of.
One night, I woke up and automatically assumed it was sleep paralysis, it happened every night so why wouldn't it be, y'know? My bed was situated in front of the window, to where I could roll on my side and peer out the window. My curtains were drawn slightly and there was a man outside my window, knocking. He just kept knocking, eventually started mumbling something, and it grew into him screaming, telling me to "Open the goddamn window!"
I was frozen, in tears, and it wasn't until my dog burst into the room barking and growling that it hit me this shit was really happening. It wasn't some subconscious shit, no, that was fucking Jerry, and he was trying to get me to let him in my room.
Not even a few weeks later, Jerry moved out after threatening to kill our dog and hanging our cat from the porch fan. RIP in peace, Socks. You were a good cat.
Recently found out Jerry's a convincted sex offender these days, and in retrospect, I shoulda guessed as much. He used to invite me into the attic all the time but I always said no because my dad told me to.

When I was younger I would hear this very distinct noise on top of my room in the middle of the night. It was very spooky for a kid who was just learning how to sleep alone. It sounded exactly like a very large and heavy bouncy ball. It sounded like a heavy ball that was dropped on one side of my room and would just bounce until it stopped. And then the noise would appear on another side of my room. This would repeat every night but I didn't tell anyone. Turns out it was just my shakey metal rain catcher that would be tossed by wind or rain. I found out the cause
I was on top of my roof one day and I heard the noise. I turned it was from the rain catcher since there was some wind. It was a nice experience though.

I was babysitting once, the people I was babysitting for lived a bit out of town. The house had a separate garage, and was surrounded by woods (perfect horror movie setting lmao). The owners said that sometimes weird things happen, but not to worry, because I’d be fine. I lowkey didn’t even believe them because I’ve never really believed in ghosts and the paranormal, but I was sitting in the living room (which had a view of the back yard though a fairly small window) and I saw the gate to the porch open. I was kinda freaked out at first but I didn’t see anybody so I calmed down. But as I walked away from the window the gate slammed and the parents called me. They told me to get the kids into one room. They said they were on their way... they had security cameras, and it wasn’t any ghost or animal, it was a random guy, about 6 ft tall, well built, just hanging out on the porch.

One of my more recent stories like this is about my one of my friends, Marissa. She and a few others came to my house to celebrate my birthday. We were all in my room hanging out and talking. My room is very small and with four people taking it up and with my door closed it got hot very fast, so we decided to open the window. A little while later my door opens. No one is standing there. We kind of just shrugged it off and assumed I just didn't shut it all the way. I closed the door and again and made sure to shut it all the way this time. A little while later it opens itself again. Now me and my friends were kinda suspicious, so I checked to see if it was my brother pranking us or something. Nobody else was upstairs with us. We shut the door again and a little while later it opened again. By now we were all freaked out so I called my dad and told him what was going on. He said it was the pressure from my window, which didn't make much sense because if it were the pressure from my window the door would be opening into the hallway, but it was opening into my room. My friends all left and I kept the window up, but nothing happened with my door.
A few weeks later Marissa came over again and we went into my room. My room once again got hot so I opened the window. The door started doing what did last time again. When my friend left I left my window up all day the next day and the door never opened itself.
To this day me and my friends are convinced Marissa is cursed or something.

It never turned out to be something else, probably an overactive imagination. When I was about 4 or 5, I used to go to my Aunts house after kindergarten every Friday because my mum would still be working. When we got to her house I would have a “spider” which is vanilla ice cream and coke in a glass and watch cartoons. After I was finished, I would go out on the front lawn and play on the swing/slide set. We lived in a flat, rural area so it was just bare paddocks for cattle with no trees. From the house which was on a road that ran north, a road was visible about 500m from the house that went west off the road the house was on. I believe at that age, I don’t ever remember being scared of “monsters” or anything, I hadn’t learnt about all that stuff yet, not even from the other kids in kinder, we had better things to do like eat sand. Anyways, so almost every Friday I would go out and play out on the swing set and I would see these tall, and I mean these were giant, black figures that would run along that road and would turn to come toward the house. I would be so frightened, I’d run inside. But every time they would appear on Friday afternoons I would test them, see how far they would come. I wanted to see what they looked like. At one point they would start coming down the long driveway to the house but I always got too scared. I never found out who or what they were or what they looked like up close.

I freaked and ran full tilt back into the house. I then told my dad about the giant spider and he eventually went out to check. I didn’t figure out what the “spider” was until a few years later. Turned out to be a HUGE bull snake that had somehow gotten into the backyard! Thank god I had some survival instinct back then.

Not realy the same thing but kind of similar:
I used to sleep in my mother's bed until i was like eight. I also used to have a lot of nightmares 'cause of my huge fascination for anything disturbing and my crazy imagination.
When I was four I had this dream in which all of my family had left to live with my grandma because they were scared of my mother but I, on the other side, thought it was stupid and stayed with her. Big mistake. Shortly after that she tried to kill me in cold blood and I barely managed to escape.
I woke up next to my mom, crying and being really scared and confused but I quickly let go of it because I was a clueless child who loved her mother the most.
Turns out she is mentally ill and had been abusing us since forever but it just wasn't bad enough and neither was I able to think for my self to understand that it's not fine until I was around ten.
The fact that I subconstienly knew there was something wrong but didn't realise it just shows how good of a manipulator she is and I honestly find this terrifying.

I kind of saw where you were going with that by the end but I was praying it wouldn’t be that because I can’t imagine how simultaneously devastating, bewildering and betraying it must feel like to have to deal with that, especially because of the emotional abuse and manipulation. I believe that those are the most damaging parts of abusive situations and I can’t stand the fact that even if children or those that are suffering can escape the literal circumstances and perpetrator(s) that they are still wholly effected and continue to suffer because of experiencing such awful behavior. I wish and hope only the very best and much freeing happiness for you in the future 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

@@lovelyjanuary First thing, thank you a lot.
Second thing, yeah, you're right. Besides being there my self I also saw this happening to my friends. No matter if you figure it out on your own or you're told, you can't help but feel like your world has turned upside down. The fact that as a child you can't really do much is frustrating and a lot of the times you end up hating your family/abusers not because they messed you up but because they won't change even now when you started changing and know their behaviour is not fine (which aslo shows how hard it is to accept that this person/those people actually hurt you). And the things you end up doing because of this become so regretable in time as they only cause more damage.
In the end, one of the worst things is that you don't only have to struggle getting rid of the obvious problems they left you with but also try and become aware of all the unhealthy things that make up your personality, that are too things they left you with. It's hard to figure out what's yours and what's somebody else's influence on you.

I never thought this was paranormal, as I just chalked this up to normal hallucinations at the time.
When I first discovered the wonders of coffee, I really overdid it. I started seeing shadow people everywhere, which I thought might have something to do with my screwed up sleep schedule due to me enjoying the magic bean at all hours of the day.
The primary sign of caffeine toxicity is seeing shadow people. So, I think I may have nearly drank myslef to death with nothing but coffee.
In case you're wondering about my carefree attitude about hallucinations, this whole event happened during a six-month long existential crisis so I had more than a few issues I was dealing with at the time. The general gist of it was that I had a event that forced me to realize how strong the placebo effect is, and being a very black-and-white person I decided that this meant I couldn't trust any information gained using my senses. To make matters worse, right after this I had a realization that a good portion of my memories were fake, so that meant I couldn't trust either my senses or my memories. So, what am I? Can I be meaningfully said to exist if Future Me doesn't even share the same memories with Past Me? How can I really know anything if I can't rely on my senses or my memories? Etc. It was a really traumatic six months before I decided that none of these questions matter and I probably should just focus on more important problems, like "How the hell am I going to pay for my car insurance this winter?" and "Will I need to stock up on Ramen Noodles for the next month?"

When I was about 15 I had my first "alcoholic drink" down at the local skating rink with a couple of friends (it was more of a science experiment then alcohol lol) we had some fun on the rink then went into the bootroom that was kept open for the public (super small town). We sat in a corner watching paranormal activity and it was very dark in the room except a red tinted window that lead to the main lobby. After a while a friend of mine started getting freaked out and thought she saw a dude behind the window several times. We got spooked and ended up leaving.
About a year later my parents told me they saw on the news a sex offender was caught in our town hiding out in the old part of the skating rink I used to visit. I still get so scared at the thought that it might have been him watching us that whole time, and how it could have ended so badly had we stayed.

2 paranornal experiences I had that I still can't find an explanation for:
When I was around 4-5, i remember watching Aladdin one night with my mom and dad. We were all huddled together in our black couch when I felt something brush against the back of my neck and shoulder. When I quickly turn around, I swear I could see a black shadow moving really fast from the corner of my eye, until it disappeared from my view. Both of my parents' arms were at a distance from my shoulder, where I would have seen them moving if they'd touched me, but none of them had moved at all. But that's not the freakiest part: our couch was pressed against the wall, which would have made it physically impossible for anything to have done what it just did.
This couch was also coincidentally part of a furniture set that came with a black recliner chair, the same chair that freaked me the hell out one time as a 6 yr old, when we had moved houses but still had the same couch + recliner set. I had dropped a toy one day and it rolled into the bottom of the recliner, so when I ducked down and tried to reach for it, I saw a pair of red glowing eyes staring right at me from deep inside the dark opening (under the chair) it was clear as day and i still remember that image in my head nearly 20 years later.
Looking back now, I suspect it might've been that the recliner had red lights that just looked like a pair of demonic eyes (which were curved and eye-shaped, not round).
But the thing that touched my neck? Inexplicable.
    Edit:
Talking about this just reignited another memory, but this was from my mom's experience: when I was around 7 in a half years old, we had already moved into another townhouse that I would classify as haunted if you believe in the paranormal, but if not, dont worry, the story is too long so i won't go into details, but basically when we were living there, we still had that black recliner. My mom was napping on it one day, and she suddenly felt like something was violently shaking her shoulders. When she opened her eyes, she swears that she saw a black shadow just dash right past her before it vanished.
I was in school, and my dad nolonger lived with us, so she was home alone that day.
There's a lot more that went on but after we moved out we left behind a lot of furniture, including that sofa and recliner. We never had another paranormal experience since then. Also, my mom never knew about my experiences until I told her about it many years later. I actually never connected the dots between my experience + hers on the recliner until typing this now. Yikes

@@lamprosvlx8596It was a long time ago, so you might be right, but I'm almost sure my neck was bare where I felt it, and it felt so much like something deliberately tapping/brushing against me in that one moment, and not just fabric if that makes sense (I've felt the back of my clothes out of nowhere before, so i know what you mean, but yeah, like I said, it didn't give me that vibe) because then I'd feel the fabric of my shirt again if that were the case, but I never did. It was just in that instant.
As for the 2nd one, I wasn't scared of my recliner before that moment, heck I didn't even expect to find anything under there except my toy, which is why this memory still haunts me. what I saw completely took me by surprise, and this is one particular image that hasn't changed in my memory, because it terrified me for a long time.
I guess I'll never know for sure what it was

There’s always footsteps in the attic in the middle of the night when I’m 100% sure no one in my family is up there. I used to think it was an animal but it’s been over a year and it hasn’t gone away. There’s no way an animal could survive a year up there. What’s weird is sometimes I smell food up there which is just wack. Only my sister and I have heard it multiple times bc our rooms are right under the attic, my one of my brothers says he’s heard it when he was in my room before. I’ve told my parents but anytime they listen for it there’s nothing. I’m too scared to check up there. For now my siblings and I refer to him as *creepy uncle joe* and leave it at that. I make jokes about “him” a lot but I’m actually kinda terrified. I’m more terrified for my sister though since the attic is directly connected to her room. There’s no way out unless you go through her room.

I was on a road trip with my dad over the winter, we had a pick up truck and a small trailer. We where in the middle of Nebraska with nothing but farm fields around us. We were super low on gas and the only gas station near us was off the highway aways away. So we turn off the highway and start driving down a small road to the station. We started to approach a town that the station was in. There was literally nobody in the town. Absolutely nobody. It was a lot like the town from the movie children of the corn. We pulled up to the station and I was filling to truck while my dad went in to buy some snacks. But there was nobody to the store. Not even a cashier. We noped tf out of there. On our way back I was driving, my dad navigating, he insisted we take another road because it was faster back to the freeway. But it was going the complete wrong direction. I told my dad but he said he was right so I kept driving, I pulled up the map and sure enough. We went the wrong way. But there was nowhere to turn around, I saw a construction site in the distance, so I thought I’ll turn around there. When we turned into this construction site I already felt somthing was off. All the trucks and equipment were really old, rusty, and looked mostly abandoned, on of the dump truck was littered with bullet holes. I quickly turn around and hightailed it back to the highway. Idk what was up with that town but it was definitely nothing normal.

Night. Turns out there was a venomous spider living in my drawer. After we took it out and threw it out of the balcony I never had the same dream anymore.

The scary thing is that all those nights, the snake was sizing up the kid and preparing itself to eat the boy

    • @hearttheart6229
      @hearttheart6229 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

AceEm Sorry, but that sizing up thing is a myth. Snakes are opportunistic predators and would never take time to “size up” a meal before eating it. If that snake sought to eat the boy (which it would have no reason to want to do, the boy wasn’t moving or anything) it would have just bit him. That myth is really harmful to people’s view of snakes as it makes them more scared and hate them. Snakes make excellent pets and I hope you learned something from this!

Tbh it sounded more like a "oh hey a heat source during the cold nights? I'm going to use him like a radiator"
As consuming a whole child, within a human household, with no way to leave because they'd be too heavy for the ceiling board. Would result in the snakes sudden dissection.

The one about the cat literally made my jaw drop…poor thing. Reminds me of the time years ago when myself a lady pulled off the road to help a cat we saw get hit by a car…the car kept going, and the poor cat rolled to the side of the road just flailing helplessly. We wrapped her in a towel I had in my car, and took her to the vet’s office right up the street, where they thanked us for bringing her in, but informed us that sadly her back was broken…at least they could put her down so that she wouldn’t suffer any longer.

Little bit late, but I’ve had one of these experiences.
I’m 14, and two days ago, I stayed home because I have terrible sleep problems (waking up around 1 in the morning, needing to drink more than a gallon of water, etc). I asked my parents if I could stay home for the day, they said yes. So naturally, I went to my room and slept. No problems was
One of the weird things. Later that day, I woke up (my parents sleep almost always because they have so much work), and I walk around and start hearing footsteps. I had been asleep for around 2-3 hours, and woke up around just before they told each other they would go sleep. So my natural instinct was to ask my mom wether she brought someone home, she said no. I was pissed. There goes the footsteps again. I checked every part house, no ones there. Both of my sisters’ rooms. No one there. I still don’t know who was in the house, and why I was the only one hearing HELLA LOUD FOOTSTEPS.
TL;DR: Terrible sleeping problems, starting to hear footsteps everywhere, parents are technically teasing me by sleeping like a normal human.
