I consider both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask as the same game when it comes to top 10/20/50/100 and so on lists of Gaming history. Ocarina of Time was the base game, Majora's Mask was the DLC long before DLC became a thing. Sure you can start Majora's Mask without playing Ocarina of Time, but the games share the same engine and the similar assets mostly because of the short development time of Majora's Mask. Certainly memorable games and one can't be whole without the other.
Along with A Link to the Past for SNES, Ocarina of Time is my favorite Zelda game. I love Majora's Mask too. However I can't help but feel OoT hast been getting tons of hate in recent years. I don't understand why. OoT is beyond awesome. Chronologically, it's actually the first Zelda game. Plus I just love the music. To me it's got one of the best soundtracks of any non-Rare game I've ever played. I even feel the graphics and gameplay have even aged greatly. They were beyond impressive for an N64 game from 1998. A lot of the hate alone I think it gets is because of the Water Temple dungeon. I know what a real pain in the ass that area was. Very confusing. In fact the level sparked so much controversy that it's the only known video game level especially Zelda dungeon to have it's own Wikipedia page. Think about it. How many video game levels and areas have their own Wikipedia pages? But nonetheless the haters are still wrong about the game sucking. It was great in 1998 and still great today. And to me it's got one of the best plots of any Zelda game
Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece! I hate to hear it’s getting hate. It’s phenomenal! Personally I just love the Majora’s Mask atmosphere and slight gameplay refinement better! But it’s close
I agree with everything you said here, apart from the disdain for the water temple. I never understood the hate it got. As a 10 year old, playing through the first time, it wasn't difficult. Just need some logic and map reading skills.
Majora's Mask was my first Zelda game and as such is the most special to me. I will say, tho, Ocarina has become my fave Zelda, possibly my top 3 games ever. I find the dungeons more fun, and sometimes I find the sidequests and time pressures of MM a bit much, tho MM exceled at being more unique even with the same assets and doing dark without being too dark. That being said, they are both amazing games.
I gotta say that even though I personally feel that Ocarina is the better game, I have way more fond memories of playing Majora's Mask, making it my favorite out of the two. Also, I think that MM has a better soundtrack. Listen to it all the time 😎
Heyjigg just watched your video on Monster Hunter and I have to say, it was really well done! I could tell you put a lot of time and effort into it. I especially appreciated the way you broke down the different strategies, it made it really easy to understand. As a fellow Monster Hunter fan, I can relate to your enthusiasm and passion for the game. I really enjoy watching your content and I think others would too. Keep up the great work, I'll be sure to check out more of your videos!

Ocarinas biggest problem was it's emptiness, something that majoras fixed pretty well... hyrule was cool and impressive at the time but termina was just magical 😂🎉
I loved Termina with all the people you can interact with! And somehow it felt like a better time travel game than the one specifically about time travel.
@@jiggylookback not only that though but when you exit the starting area... both magical in their own right. Boom! 5 areas filled with character and not too open either... the west side of hyrule fields was pretty empty but you can't say the same about termina which also has quite the mixture of enemies
Unlike Kazooie vs Tooie, where Kazooie is just perfectly smooth and polished and is easily the better game (even though by a small margin), its harder to compare the two zelda games because they are much nore different. They are both masterpieces in their own right. Ultimately Majoras Masks charm benefits from the reused models from ocarina and the fact that ocarina DID preceed it. As a standalone game, ocarina is probably just that tiny little bit more complete. Overall though, they are both perfect and will forever be top5 N64 games and my children will get to play both of them. No doubt.
They are both master pieces. Both can be truly appreciated! I actually went into these games thinking I’d prefer OOT but ended up having more fun with Majora’s Mask due to the slightly faster gameplay and the pressing I’ve gotta do this now time crunch. Some may hate that but I enjoyed it as it made me think how I was going to spend a 3 day cycle and what I needed to do the next time. Very interesting concept!
(Spoiler if you haven’t finished watching the video) Shouldn’t the sequel normally be better then the original (I do know some games were the first one is better though) I think it makes sense Majora won although to be fair I haven’t played either
@@jiggylookback What I’m trying to say is that the sequel should be better than the original because the original was the first attempt with the second game they could master the formula
Did the winner surprise you? Do you agree?
It did not surprise me at all. Majora's Mask has become much more widely respected than Ocarina of Time or any other Zelda game, for that matter.
@@NolansArk yeah it’s pretty great!
