    Mark. Regarding the rear parcel shelf issue, I believe there was a recall for this where a modified mounting pin bushes were supplied. The part number of the bushes is T2R35506. They are supplied in packs of 1, so 2 off would be required. There is a video from a UK youtuber about this here: th-cam.com/video/jOrFkNpwC1M/w-d-xo.html
    Also, regarding the water ingress issue you have, very often the issue comes about because the seal is continually in a compressed state and very often an application of some silicone grease will bring some suppleness back to the seal and ensure that the sealing is improved. Hope this helps.

    Mark, took a trip to Nashville TN and visited Global Motorsports Center. They specialize in exotic and high performance cars. Spoke with a lead mechanic who had 17 years experience at a Jaguar dealership. He said the F Type is a solid and very reliable vehicle and that during his years as a mechanic saw very few problems with F Types. He did stress the importance of proper maintenance.
    Keep ‘em coming!

      They are solid. No Honda Civic but decent and well worth the price of admission

    Again another Vlog that makes sense from a fellow R owner. I don't have the sim card in my glovebox. I lost the GPS on my car a couple of months ago. After research I removed the strip panel that holds the shark fin aerial. I found moisture inside and one retaining clip missing from one of the three cable connectors. It was in situ. I cleaned everything up and replaced the weather seal that runs along the panel that sits above the LED strip brake light. Once back in I still had no GPS, there was still a red line striking diagonally through the icon on nav screen. I thought oh well must be something else. But then after driving for a bit the GPS reset itself & GPS became active!! Should do a video really about it & a whole lot more. Watching your videos always make me think i should contribute to the joys of owning an F-Type R and some of the real world gripes too, to add to the community. Thanks again Mark.

    • @markholubetz
      @markholubetz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha indeed. Gripes there are and that’s the reality that nothing is perfect. Even a supermodel is not perfect possibly one eye smaller than the other or a scar on the chin. That really is part of what makes things interesting. Old Ferraris had issues sometimes with electrical gremlins that pop up and randomly disappear with no real explanation. Lol, taking the good with the bad. Cheers

    I’ve only seen one in person once and I thought it was breathtaking (and I live in an area where I see Mercedes , BMWs, Corvettes, et al, on a daily basis). I’m drooling and now searching for an F type S. I came close to pulling the trigger on a Gran Turismo, but the F Type has really captured my enthusiasm.

    Just seeing this video so a year late. I have a 2017 base model. Agree with your comment it has been bullet proof. Only drive it in the no snow time of year but right up until it snows and as soon as the roads are reasonably free of the sand (North East of US)… No issues, no codes, perfect. Your comment on the app subscription I would add the cost was reasonable I thought $60-80/Yr. I have other cars that try to get you for more. For those that like the styling and performance. Recommend the car. Thanks for the review.

    Definitely one of the best reviews for the f type r . You and savage geese I believe are two of the best reviews . Glad your experience has been nothing but good with the f type r. Did you get the car PPI before purchased ?

    • @markholubetz
      @markholubetz  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much for the support. I actually did not have a PPI done as it still had warranty, I got the CPO add on and I had the records from the previous owner as it was being sold at the same dealer for its whole life, I elected not to. Generally a PPI is the best and safest way to go though.

    My SVR which I bought as my forever car was….well a nightmare. Engine made a horrid squealing sound over 110mph - every time. dealer said they cannot reproduce, JLR told me to take it another dealer. That dealer could not resolve, then told me I was dead wrong, it had a fixed wing - it didn’t. Had electrical gremlins and the SIM issue in video. Beautiful car, an everyday supercar, but quality and dealer support was poor. In the 18 months I owned it, it was at the dealers for 4.5 months (and I did not drive it Dec-Mar). Maybe I got a bad engine, but the other gremlins (like my Range Rover - yes I’m a glutton for punishment) has me avoiding the brand. I’m also particularly concerned about the longevity of Jaguar, especially given them moved all electric vehicles, parts availability is going to be a massive headache. In my opinion, it already is with Range Rover, I don’t see Jag being any better.

  • @CarsAndBikesBklyn
    @CarsAndBikesBklyn ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Related to the tailgate shelf, you can get grommets and put them on the inside to prevent the shelf for moving off 15:13 the pin. Check the forms for the right size. I couldn’t find the right size and had buy a whole box of a variety pack so I don’t know the exact size for the grommet that actually fit.

    • @markholubetz

      Thanks a lot Robert, I will take another look at this and see if I can fix this

  • @garethboyd8580
    @garethboyd8580 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    One to look out for is the daytime running lights. The LEDs have a habit of failing. Jag bought a bad batch from Valeo.
    If they go, it makes the indicator seem dimmer. That can be an instant inspection fail.
    Only way to fix it is a replacement headlight unit.
    Current cost is over $3,500, each, not including tax, labor or coding costs.
    In other words, if you’re thinking of buying an f type. Park it in front of a big window on the lot and check the reflection of the lights really well before you pay.

    Great video Mark. Just a suggestion, I put ppf on my windshield try to keep it from chipping. I know that windshield is expensive to replace. Just need to keep it waxed. I spray wax it once a month it's all good. Can't even tell there's film on the windshield at all. Take care

    • @markholubetz
      @markholubetz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mark Holubetz No issues at all. I was using the auto brights feature for a while with no trouble. Can't even tell there is film on the windshield or maybe I'm just used to it. Anyway I definitely recommend it. It beats the alternative of a costly windshield.

    Lexus last year made the remote start not work without subscription too. But everyone complained and they reversed it. C8 doesn’t have the luxury nor refinement to compare to any Jaguar lol vs a F-Type.

    Why did you say you would not drive the car if there is blizzard or lots of snow overnight? Even if you had nice winter tires? I have a CLA 250 for the winter and I was planning to replace it with a f-type r for the winter months, as I know it’s AWD. What exactly is the problem or problems about driving it in the winter. It’s a a genuine question, and I hope you have give me an honest answer, as I am a bit concerned now.

    • @markholubetz
      @markholubetz  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Peter, it can be driven in winter with proper wi there tires as the AWD system works OK too as does the heater and heated seats and steering wheel. Only limits are steel crossmember below can rust otherwise rest of car is aluminum and plastic and is fine, so it’s really just the front chin spiller as running into A windrow or snow bank can wreck it. Bottom line, it will work, it’s just there are better winter vehicles

    • @PeterSchneemann
      @PeterSchneemann 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@markholubetz Ok, I know there are plenty of better winter vehicles, but can you think of a better winter vehicle that is at least as cool as the Jaguar f-type r AND does not cost more than it?

      Maintenance records for cooling system such as fittings, Y pipe, any fuel injectors? Noisy engine rattle on top could be a supercharger snorkel, black puddle out back could be carbon exhaust moisture but be sure to confirm it’s not rear diff oil. Check records on differential oil and servicing as that’s a sensitive area
