    Same here in November I bought a 2017 Jaguar F Type R with 17k miles from a Jaguar Dealer sight unseen other than the carfax and photos. It was 60k but took a chance based on the history and limited owners. I got a good one. Its not a daily driver but its a working piece of art that will be rarer and rarer as the world attempts to force the EV craze on everyone and fails. By me driving a great car like this and everyone else that does the same in whatever gas powered exotic thats fun does so. This shows the common man/woman out there what driving non boring cars is all about. It sticks it in the face of those that are forcing this type of car and beauty to go away. As the poem says Rage rage into the dying of the light...

      Great comment Brad. Yes these lefty clowns are trying to force the new tech on a large audience who wants nothing to do with it so at the end of the day, I will hold onto the ICE goodness as long as I can. Hope you are having a great week.

    A few months ago I thought it was time to buy an F-Type and so did. Not a V8 but a 2016 3.0 S with manual transmission. A metallic black beauty, every option but carbon ceramic brakes, 30,000 miles. A Colorado car that, by the looks of the underside and under the hood, has never seen salt. 380 HP is more than enough for the twisty New Hampshire roads where I live. It may not have the brute power of the V8, nor the pops and crackles, but this old man is happy with it and that's what counts. I'm keeping my 2016 Mazda MX-5/Miata, that car makes good sense here, but oh my, that Jaguar sure is pretty all in black, no chrome on it save a few logos.
    Sure, I might have paid too much, but I had to look 2,000 mile away to find the right car. Life is too short to drive boring cars.

    I bought a 2016 perfect-condition metallic Gray 3.0 S coupe with an all-leather interior and 28K KM on the clock. I use it sparingly and on longer trips to preserve it. At 63 years old, I know this is the last GT I'll ever buy, so it's got to last. I will soon replace the plastic coolant pipes with aluminium and install a solid coupler along with an oil catch can. Best buy of my life.

    Just bought a fully loaded, low mileage S for the same money as a new 3 series and it really is a no brainer. I did buy a front to back warranty which jacked the price a little but now I have peace of mind and one of the most beautiful cars on the road today. Our situation is so similar. I also bought my 2017 F-type R in Jun 2020 before the shortages and infation that drove new and used prices up. Last summer a 2018 F-type SVR in the striking "ultra blue" color showed up at my local Calgary dealership. I almost bought it, with the crazy notion that i would keep the R as my winter car. The exaggerated price at that time kept me from going ahead with it, because i was caertain itwould be a temporary bubble

    Theres a lot in the 40-50k range now. And sure the F-Type is worth considering. But is it better value than a BMW M4, M6 or I8? Porsche 997.2 4S or 981 S Cayman/Boxster? Aston V8 Vantage? Corvette C7 Stingray? These are all very strong offerings for a nice weekend driver. I haven't made up my mind yet 😅

    • @markholubetz
      @markholubetz  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are right, some tough competition in this space, but in my personal opinion, the BMW M cars are not the same level, a. Porsche 997 is a wonderful car and the gen 2 gives a little improvement especially on IMS and other things, but performance is down, however, resale will always be strong on the Porsche. C7 is best with Z06 but that pricey and the Cayman/Bosxster is a fun driver too. Many cool options for sure, and I could easily drive any one of these star cars. I would love to hear what you end up buying.

    So Mark would you recommend the XFR? It's got the same sweet V8 and because it's a sedan the prices are dropping faster. I keep thinking about that car because i sometimes like to have more than one friend come along for the ride.
    On the warranty thing, it is good piece of mind. Both my wife and I have had our extended warranties pay for themselves when I had to replace the compressor for the air bags and infotainment system on my car and the transmission on her truck. That being said even with a used car you can find third party or CPO warranties.

    • @markholubetz
      @markholubetz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes extended warranties can't be a god send and really are an insurance policy. As far as the XFR goes, 100 percent love the cars and another example of a great car sliding under the radar while everyone is too busy gawking at the latest 3 and 5 series BMWs

    • @richarddespres8011
      @richarddespres8011 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mark Holubetz glad to hear it. It's either an XFR or an F-Type for my next car. I've never had the joy of a pure sports car before and it would be a great mid-life crisis experience before Ottawa takes the dream away but a better deal could probably be had on a sleeper like the XFR.
      I'd probably stick to BC dealerships though after almost getting hosed on an XF that still had a lien on it in Edmonton. It's a certain dealership on the west end....

    I think the biggest unknown for me is whether a dealer has added the software update or not. Do you know if dealerships automatically apply those to every used car they sell or do they not bother until a service?
    I assume they service the cars before advertising or selling them so this makes it difficult. Id love to hear a side by side of an F type that's had the software update and one that hasn't. Hell if someone has the 2019 one with the GPF filter added to the catalytic converter that would be the third one id like to compare against. Imagine I find the perfect spec in the colour I want one day but it's has the software update applied.. I'd hesitate and maybe either lose the sale or end up with buyers remorse. The V6 I drove had all the bangs and pops and it's why I fell in love with the car

    • @markholubetz
      @markholubetz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I am not sure about how the dealers approach the updates because I have heard some people say the dealer updates it and then hands the keys back and finds out after the fact while other people pro actively state NO tampering. I have heard of an aftermarket angle to restore the sounds, but its really hard to say for sure. I know my car sounds incredible but I have heard older cars sounds even a bit more aggressive than mine. I would say crack the throttle on the dynamic mode engaged on anything you are looking at and I think it will become clear if you want that or not. Have a great week.

Our only child, 9 years old, was getting older and more independent giving me chances to enjoy driving it and was my entire reason for buying one in the first place. About 4 months later my wife unexpectedly became... erm... expectant. I could barely justify having a two-seater having a wife and child, but with two kids (~2 weeks til due date) it's time for me to give up on two-seaters for a long while. After selling it, I'll be pricing performance luxury vehicles w/ backseats, but unfortunately I think this is where I part ways with my R. It's a beautiful and very underrated car. Maybe I'll come back to one when the second child is older.
