    2014 F-Type V6 340 Coupe: leaking rear diff oil seal, done under warranty, diff failed 3 months later out of warranty with just 38k miles and JLR wanted £6000 to fix but ended up paying £500 after arguing that I had repeatedly brought it back in after their repair stating the diff was still leaking oil and they had assured me it was fine. Also failed sat-nav antenna, failed O2 sensor, failed fuel injector and a glitch in the software that meant it did not always go back into Drive after stopping and engaging neutral, resolved with a software update.
    2017 F-Type V8 Convertible: Leaking roof seal that took 3 visits to get the JLR dealer to actually acknowledge there was a problem at one year old and 4k miles. Then the E-Diff failed at 20k miles. Got rid of it before any more issues appeared. In the UK JLR dealers are hit and miss in terms of quality and willingness to resolve issues.

    Another thing worth mentioning which would be applicable to the cars with active exhausts - the actuators which open and close the exhaust flaps can also fail which is quite costly. I had to change mine for £1.5k! Another thing is that the seals around the boot can also fail causing water ingress, that wasn’t too difficult to solve with some silicone but worth mentioning. Overall this car really does feel special and brings a smile every time you drive it.

    Service every 10,000km (or less ideally), service the transmission at 100,000km (or earlier), service the diffs at the same time, and just know you’re going to have to replace the coolant lines and expansion tank. Other than that, just keep an eye on things - you’ll be fine.

  • @Moorzo83

    2018 F Type V6, 53k miles. Oxygen sensor went on an excessive downshift: £360 at the dealer. Official dealer (Charles Hurst Belfast) was so bad I never went back and never will. Other issues: had the coolant expansion tank crack under hard acceleration - £130 to fix. Coolant pipe cracked under hard acceleration, cheap fix (c£50). Total repair costs were less than half my previous Porsche Cayman over slightly more miles/years of ownership and I prefer the Jag over the Porsche for ease of use and kerb appeal although the Porsche was better to drive hard and has a dealership that is actually good.

    Thanks for the comprehensive review. I love my 2015 F-Type R, but it is as you say "tail happy." So much so, that when one gives it a bit too much gas getting on the freeway at 40 mph plus, the squirrely back end will put the fear of god in the driver. Reminds me of ridding my motorcycle as a kid on muddy trails. Fun, but not for the faint of heart.

    2016 5.0L AWD R Coupe 48k miles, Dealership bought here 2 previous owners, I can confirm it's awesomeness....and the window scratches as well.. XD AWD is still tail happy under full accel but personally, i think i get more out of it vs the rwd. In the UK our roads don't allow for wide open spaces with space between cars, its country roads etc Oh Also for anyone buying from a dealership, be aware, it is hit or miss out there I had Cambridge who seemed to loathe me for nothing really, then you get oxford who were much better. Don't rely on them and check your coverage on the warranty. But otherwise an extremely positve experience.

    My 2015 V8s is an animal. I like the tail-happy RWD and I do believe he 495 Hp is an under-rating to build up the gap between V8s & the great R for marketing. I also like the hydraulic power steering and overall lighter weight as compared to AWD. This being said, it can be scary at 1st and would be very easy to wreck. The instant acceleration at any speed is addictive and the loud exhaust is silly fun. I hope to never sell this one of a kind treasure.

    No mention of the coolant pipes failure….this is big. Early versions had the two piece pipes that crack a leak, and even the redesigned pipes from Jaguar, they still can fail on the connection ends because of getting brittle. Most of us have replaced these plastic pipes with aluminum ones. If failure, a huge risk of a blow, leak, over heat and blow the engine.

    Random electronic warning messages are NOT a problem with the software, DO NOT update it. Charge your battery with a trickle charger. If you update the software you will lose some exhaust sound

    • @silentstormstudios
      @silentstormstudios 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very true. These cars are very sensitive to battery performance and want a near full charge. The good thing is, if the battery output begins to drop even a little, the car tells you that the battery is low and to start the engine to recharge. This usually only happens with mine if I let it sit for several days without driving it. If I drive it regularly, it's fine. I have a CTEK charger in the event I know I won't be driving it for a while and want to keep it charged.

      From my personal view on car buying I would always concentrate on service records over number of owners. The sad truth is that lots of people buy sports/enthusiast cars and quickly realise they aren’t as cheap and convenient as the ‘normal car’ they owned, meaning owners can add up quickly. All the best on your search and one thing I would say is this is one of the few videos I’ve produced where almost all the comments have been positive ownership experiences so far 👍

    Jokes aside. I don´t understand the P450. Is the supercharger even required to hit the 450 PS mark? It´s like a castrated engine for marketing purposes just to replace the V6 as a middle range engine🤔

So be aware of the things to check, but you are looking for things that are very unlikely, unfortunately they can cost A LOT of money if you have the problem but as long as you know what to look for you increase your chance of buying a good on 👍
