    I can understand why you'd love the retopology part, it seems so fluid when you do it. Loved the memes and the video, you should have way more subscribers. Great content!

    Everyone is hating me for liking Retopo and doing UV's. I thought i was just weird. Good to know you enjoy Retopo aswell Savannah ^-^

      I always thought retopo / UVs / rigging were like the Cleric class in old-times D&D: Nobody wanted to play it because it was a bit monotonous, but everybody wanted one on their team because they were essential. XD

      uv layout is something i still hate doing. And the computer does it SO MUCH BETTER THAN ME (after a good topology and finding good seeds). But retopo is my day lf getting in touch with my podcast friends.

      @@kucklowmusic9184 you probably dont know but there are a lot of use cases for (digital) sculpting even without Retopo and UVs. Whole industry of digital sculptors that do collectibles and figurines lol only one example

    man, the memes are great.
    also, your way of retopoing is very different from others i've seen, making that line at the center first and going out from there is not something i thought people do, but after looking at it when it was finished, it basically the same as others i've seen on youtube. especially in the face region, i could identify where the 5poles are going to be and there they were at the end of it, just like i predicted.

    What about the inner mouth area?
    When do you make it? Do you bake it with the lips of the chacter opened?

    There's one thing I don't understand about retopology. After you've added in all the fine details with the high poly mesh, I don't understand how you keep those details while simplifying the topology. Im having a hard time wrapping my head around that. Thanks for the video!

      You bake a normal/bump map from the highpoly mesh to the low poly mesh

    Good topology, sub-d ready topology, can deform rightly topology. You can hate it and avoid it with Booleans and mostly get away with it, but you miss the essence of what makes 3d really effective, the use of polygons to best represent a shape.

    My question is can we retopology the head of a character separately from the body for the industry? Or the whole of the character should be one single object after retopologized?

    but all those details from the high poly sculpt, how do you get those onto the low poly version as texture?

      (video author here) I try to avoid triangles where there will be a ton of deformation (shoulders, for example). Sometimes it doesn't make sense to reroute an edge loop to preserve quads so I will end a loop with a triangle.

    Do something about teaching it. I always stuck in retopology and won't progress and it makes me despondent. I have so many characters which are in sculpt stage and have some polygons around eyes and nose and nothing more. make some video about it and try to think out load. it would be a good thing.

      not for gaming, it gets converted into triangles anyway and she placed them where theres no really any weightpainting impact or rigging shenanigangs. retopology for gaming is more enjoyable and forgiving than for a feature film

    Nice video and all. But there would be quite some problems with animation and deformation I'm afraid.
    Would work for mobile games though. Or games where this character is further away.

      You're right -- this is a mobile game character! I would do a lot differently now but you definitely have to cut a ton of corners for mobile game characters haha
