    Avishai Cohen is a fucking genius, I love his polyrythmic mind, he makes his arrangements so groovy yet so complex and precise. And in general, the whole band is awesome, they do everything so skillfully and with such a great taste. I'm so impressed that you succeeded to reverse-engineer the tune. It's so easy to feel and remember and sing along, but so sophisticated in the reality.

    I remember my mother showing me the "Gently Disturbed" record in high school as I began taking my jazz studies more seriously and it just blew my mind. Pinzin Kinzin was easily my favorite song except i was baffled by its timing. Except now! Thank you again Yogev. Much love and respect to you!

    *Short answer:* it's 4/4 wherein the RH of piano, hi-hat and snare provide the downbeats whilst the LH of piano, kick drum and the double bass play a clave that goes 4,5,4,5,4,5,5 which adds up to 32/16 which then simplifies back down to 4/4.

    Have you heard "A Moment in Time"? One of the most creative 6s I've heard in a while! I feel it like 3 bars of 5/16 and one bar of 9/16, but it flows so well!

    Hey, Thanks for the super good explanation! Just one thing I want to mention, wich is not quite right I think: At 3:02 you explain that the piano plays constant beats in the same duration as the short bass notes. I agree. Later at 5:34 you define the short bass notes as 4/16 and the long as 5/16. I agree. But at 6:22 you say that the piano also plays the "9" but in 3+3+3 division instead of 4+5. This is not correct because the piano plays 8 notes always in the duration of 4/16. Greetings ! :-) - correct me if I am wrong.

    • @YogevGabay
      @YogevGabay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So this is what I meant:
      The first 2 piano hits and in unison with the first 2 bass hits, BUT the second hit on the piano is longer. So they hit in unison, but then the third bass note starts again BEFORE the piano. Does that make sense?
      And later on in the song, the piano is playing 3 groups of 3, so he just changes his pattern

    • @arminmaranga1721
      @arminmaranga1721 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YogevGabay Hmmm... I am pretty sure that the 3rd piano note is before the 3rd bass note in the beginning of the song, because the piano plays constant beats.
