    Another part of Tokyo I never got around to visiting!
    I've always shot RAW plus JPEG so if I'm happy with the shot as is, I already have it good to go. However, I do enjoy playing around with the RAW files, but I don't take the time to do it as often as I should.

      You should go if you ever have a chance :)
      Yeah, I used to shoot RAW only, but like I said at the end, the constant editing is tiring and getting old. Would much prefer to spend less time behind a computer and more time out taking photos Hehe

    Honestly this might be my favorite video you've done so far ! Really the mood was just perfect, between the night atmosphere and the music, it was just perfect.
    As about not releasing video every week, I am sure it definitely will be better for you and the channel ! I always wondered how creator could sustain the 1 video a week rythm, which is definitely far too grueling.

      Hehe yeah, it starts to wear on you even if it’s something that you enjoy doing after long enough. The last thing I want is to get burnt out of doing something I love doing.

    I think I mentioned before that I like your style of filming and the way you sometimes pause in the middle of the action and incorporate quiet, almost slow-motion interludes that give the viewer some "rest". What I mean becomes clear here in the example 1:22 or here from 5:25 and especially here 5:33 and 7:57, but also the scene with the people and the dog 8:07 or 8:13 with the lantern. On the other hand, I also enjoy walking around with you and looking over your shoulder, so to speak, until I can take a closer look at the inserted photos. Your everyday subjects don't seem "everyday" at all, they very often seem to have been chosen from a certain individual perspective or angle, on the one hand with the focus right in the middle (2:53 - a great photo or 4:31 and 7:35 !), On the other hand, the so-called "Golden Ratio" is sometimes clearly recognizable, as here at 5:14 in the right third is the cyclists and at 11:36 one of my favorite photos, 3:13 - is very mysterious - and in 3:16 the secret literally revealed ; - ), glad you waited for these moments at this point, because they add an interesting element of surprise!
    This scene photo 3:26 is also wonderful!
    I could write a little more detail about all the pictures, but basically you know that I really appreciate the way you see and choose motifs, regardless of whether the pictures are edited or unedited. In my opinion, in art - and here particular in street art photography - neither the "equipment" nor the post-processing of the photos is important, but the "eye for motifs", to recognizing the right moment, the aesthetic visual capture of a situation. Personally, I'm keeping an eye on your style of fine art photography because I think you meet that criteria.
    Your visual talent for seeing and appreciating life around you is reflected in the quality of the subjects in your photos. Even if you don't show a video for two, three weeks or longer, anyone who is interested in your art of photography can watch your uploaded videos again and again and - at least that's how it is for me - it never gets boring.

      It's always a pleasure to read your comments and analysis ☺️
      And yeah, I would tend to agree that the camera and equipment are not that important so far as making interesting photos. At the end of the day, I just like capturing what I see so that others can see what life is like over here. And I’m glad you enjoyed it :)

    Thank You for sharing. Here in Belgium, I have now (thanks of You) a walk in Tokyo. So interresting. May I suggest You to put the date in the title of your video. In several decades, it will become a kind of "TIme Machine" with a great historical interrest (people, clothes, cars, buildings, food, etc .) . The mix between video (in 10mm focal lenght) and stills (in 33mm) is very very interresting.

    Do you think if I wanted to shoot in Tokyo like this I’d need an f1.4? Or would 2.8 be good enough?

    • @jamesford_jp
      @jamesford_jp  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For night street photography? 2.8 is more than good enough in most circumstances. I seldom shoot at 1.4 because the depth of field is just too shallow and I actually shoot at 2.8-4 most of the time.

    • @peacefulremedy1233
      @peacefulremedy1233 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      oh dear now i'm conflicted since i have the 18-55 2.8-4 but i was planning on getting another lens so i could shoot at night too @@jamesford_jp Maybe instead of a low f prime i could go for the 17-70mm f2.8 then so i have more focal lengths covered ... I am a bit worried about the extra weight and size though

    • @jamesford_jp
      @jamesford_jp  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use primes exactly for the reduced weight and smaller form factor. The 1.4 is nice to have when I need it, but I usually stick to 2.8 most of the time at night.
      If you really want a zoom, something like the Sigma 18-50 2.8 is a nice travel lens that gives you a fast aperture and a small, compact form factor if you're looking for options (assuming you're shooting APS-C).

    Do you recommend 33/1.4WR or 56/1.2 WR suitable for street photography?

    • @jamesford_jp
      @jamesford_jp  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Generally the 33, especially for a one-lens setup.
      The 56 is a great lens that I enjoy using, but it's not versatile enough for street and is not a lens I want to use in a lot of areas of Tokyo.

    • @jamesford_jp

    What's the point of buying x-t5 when Fuji optics can't cope with a 40 million matrix? This is not marketing, this is outright deception on Fuji's part.

    • @jamesford_jp
      @jamesford_jp  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      While the older lenses may not be able to, the newer lenses can.
      Then again, the 40 mp was not a huge factor in my decision to purchase one.
