Another very authentic and aesthetic hiking trip through a completely different and very interesting urban world for me, which I was allowed to look over Your shoulder. I like the brilliance of the colors and motifs in this rainy weather (wonderful with raindrops on the windshield 6:15 or on the umbrella 11:49 - the double sequence from 12:05 is also very nice! - everything looks freshly washed) and the details (greatly captured with the 85 mm lens from a distance!) in the exemplary black and white photos like this 1:55 or (my favorite photo: 7:41) and this 10:54 looks very mysterious - and fantastic this one 11:23 with the grid pattern. I also like the film sequences in which the rain and the water drops are filmed in a gentle flowing motion and always with the authentic background noises (from 5:11 or 6:44 or 8:57 and from 10:40!! the garbage bag with the soda cans!). With all the impressions that You collect, You keep a certain composure when taking photos and filming, despite the turbulence in the area, above all - as I imagine it - because it wasn't so easy with the balance, to work two-handed, one with the umbrella and one with the ( heavy) camera.

I’m glad you enjoyed this one! I really wanted to capture the ambiance of the area, hence a lot of detail shots and footage of the rain. I’m happy it seemed to come through in the final result 😁

The challenge of shooting Shinbashi on a busy, rainy night isn't finding an interesting scene worth shooting, it's deciding which of the dozen interesting scenes occurring at any given time you want to shoot!
I love the scene scene at 12:59. Last time I was there, instead of every table being full, there was only a single guy reading a book. It was one of my favorite shots of whole trip to Tokyo.
Heheh oh absolutely. I’ve been there a few times in the rain and there's always so much going on. Have to be choosy with your shots 😅

Really nice views of this rainy night. I'm guessing that when you say 85mm you're using the 56 f1.2. There is just something about that lens and in this situation with the wetness it shows yet another side of its special look. I'm curious, were you back button focusing or just had it set to one aperture and shooting in that zone of focus? Thanks for taking us along! Have a great Friday.....

About the lens, that would be correct. I came from Nikon Full Frame before moving to Fuji, so it’s always just been easier for me to think it terms of full frame, hence the conversion.
And yes, I back button focus.

James I intend to purchase the Youngnou 85mm for my Nikon D5500 to go alongside my Youngnou 50mm and 35mm lenses and my Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-F4 and Tamron 18-200mm lens

hi i may have missed it, but what 85mm lens? i have the viltrox 85mm mkII and i love it for portrait work and creating social media content from floor rehearsals. People are really negative about the lens but i have had good results.
I have the Fujinon XF 56 mm 1.2 LM WR which is equivalent to an 85 mm in full-frame :)
A little noisy, so not great for video, but otherwise a solid lens that I adore.

I’ve enjoyed it more and have found the files easier to work with and quicker to edit-largely due to the film simulations.
The Z5 is still a great camera and with the right lenses can produce some amazing results.

It's not a dumb question. I used the XF 56 mm 1.2 WR (85 mm equivalent in FF).
