Overlook in the US market because of the the 2.6L engine. They basically repurposed the 2.6 from the mighty max truck and tossed on a turbo with no (as in ZERO) additional reinforcement of the block. As part of a Starion owners club in the day, we were always on the hunt for spare blocks as the engine loved to self destructed when pushed over 300 or so HP. Americans always resented that we did not get the 4G63 over here. The throttle body injection system on the G54 was another let down. In a world already using MPI, it was another Mitsu attempt at pinching pennies in the US. Regardless, I owned 2, and miss them. My '91 Galant VR4 replaced them, and I have it to this day.
You got that right. But I think it's bordering on criminal. I only click in b/c my first new car was the Starion's predecessor the 1983 Dodge Challenger aka Plymouth Sapporo aka Mitsubishi Galant Lambda. I do appreciate the old pics of the Japanese homemarket Galant Lambda though.

The body kit isn’t real, but we appreciate the interest - maybe we'll explore some custom build ideas in future videos. Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the video! 🙌 Totally agree-Mitsubishi has built some real legends over the years! What's your favorite Mitsubishi model?
I had 2 Starions (one badged as an '88 Conquest TSI). Loved the car, but the US version with the 2.6l engine and throttle body injection was the Achilles heal. Great low end torque to counter the slow spooling of the turbo made it fun at any RPM. I honestly don't think the 4G54 had any relationship with the 4G63 family wise. Nothing is interchangeable, and the blocks (what typically denote family lineage) were completely different castings.
Glad you liked the video! Noted on the Isuzu Trooper and VehiCROSS-both great suggestions! We'll keep them in mind for future content. Thanks for the input!
@@LegendaryRideCars if you are looking for ideas for a video maybe consider the 2 door Mitsubishi Montero, also known as the Pajero or Shogun also sold in the usa as the Dodge Raider from 1987 to 1990. a pretty rare 2 door suv.
I had an 89 conquest TSI as my first car back in 97. It was ok, and girls loved it. It really wasn't fast but it looked like it was lol. It was already falling apart when I got it, but 2 years of teenage driving absolutely destroyed that poor thing. I never changed the oil even one time in it, but it drank about a quart every couple of weeks anyway. I was drifting that bitch before drifting was even a thing. The pull off tire center knew me by name, I was there at least once or twice a month. Turbo lag was absolutely horrible. Push the gas and wait, wait wait wait oook there we go. Pulling out in heavy traffic was nerve wracking. I was happy to have a NA v6 in my next car, which I took significantly better care of. I wish I still had it, but I can say the same of many cars I've had over the years.
@@LegendaryRideCars I'm not a performance guy , so really any ones of them , I just like the look of those and especially the fact that they stood with the about same design for 8 years , to me it's the ultimate shape for a car !

Japanese were originally wanting this to compete with the mustang Japanese version is stallion it's hard for them to pronounce the double L so they named it the starion. For real look it up@@LegendaryRideCars
If AI can do this stuff and get that many views, why can't i?, i had real life experience with this car, its kinda weird how their airflow sensor works, if the air leaks before the turbo the car will run really weird with its original wiring, and it's mono point injection too. Its a good car to work on, technically it looks like a 70's car but with futuristic features. Also the safety belts were unique on this car.
Hi @md8355! Just to clarify, our team puts a lot of effort into creating these videos with real editors, voice actors, and scriptwriters. While the thumbnail is AI-assisted, the rest is all done by our talented team. Thanks for watching :)
