    I don't get it, why there is so much hate about that bike! I think it is a step in the right direction, no one needs 200 hp on country roads!

    • @RidingTusCanY
      @RidingTusCanY 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Lofty Bikelife well said.... add also that most of the riders are not able to use all that horsepower... this bike is more affordable, more comfy, still beautiful and still fast and (may be) the average rider will be able to use it to it's 80%

      gelul12 I said "more affordable" infact costs 14000€ instead of 18/20000€ your sarcasm is out of place

    • @XenoformII

      That's true, it's just that we all *want* 200+ HP on country roads.

    Looks like a proper capable real world bike. Usable power with a decent torque curve added with the up and down quickshifter makes for a comfortable commute and a track day tool in the right hands with some extra setup. Of course, it's not going to set the 2 wheeled world alright with 200+ hp or MotoGP\WSBK derived technology but, that's not it's job! Designed to be all-rounder not a track orientated road missile.

  • @gregfink8845
    @gregfink8845 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think this bike will do well being that so many sportbikes are becoming more and more track oriented this gives someone a good happy medium of a sportbike that's built for the street.

    I’ve been riding bikes for 50 years and have had some big fast machines. Currently own a Honda Blackbird and recently purchased one of these. I wanted to tone down the looney factor a bit and though the Honda is a good handling bike wanted something a bit more flickable and precise. I tried a Yamaha MT09SP and loved it, so light and responsive. I then tried the Ducati and was instantly sold on it. Light, comfortable, plenty of power on the street, looks great and handles like a dream. The Öhlins, Brembos, Traction Control and ABS make it a really safe lump . The Honda has none of these safety nets and I probably don’t need them but hey they’re good to have. I’m getting used to the quick shifter too though I’m smoother without it. This is a great bike. You won’t be left behind if you know how to ride. 200hp on the street is unusable.

    The brake fluid reservoir looks like it's about to snap off.

      Mine does the same thing... bit annoying when I notice it (which isn't often) but it doesn't seem to cause any issues. Looking at the mount it seems to be that way on purpose, only thing I can think of is that they wanted to save weight on the the mounting hardware (it's a flexible plastic bit) - but damn that's just fractions of an ounce.

    • @fyorbane
      @fyorbane 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Give it time and the bracket flexing like that will fatigue and break. Not good enough Ducati.

    • @kuhndj67
      @kuhndj67 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea it'll take a while though... the plastic will need to age harden first and I've got bikes that are 30 years old and their wobbly plastic bits are still in one piece (I'm thinking specifically of the turn signals on my son's Maxim-X)... for my bike that's not likely to happen during it's useful life. I'm more annoyed at how it looks than any fear the mount will fail.

    It sounds great, it's in a similar category to my CBR650F, but I can't help but look at the dash and wonder why it doesn't have one like the Triumph 765 Street Triple. I'll look at most new bikes and wonder that from now on

    • @fyorbane
      @fyorbane 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Completely agree. No more excuses on not having a descent full colour TFT dash. The 765 Triumph is much cheaper yet looks classier.

    Looks good. Love the idea of the bike. It probably sounds good as well, these bike mics never pick up how a bike really sounds. Hope it is as comfortable as they aimed for.
    The cheap looking dash and the fluid reservoir shaking so much are dislikes. For £14k or so I'd expect better.
    The bike is more than fast enough for me as a daily bike, especially if it doesn't wreck my back/wrists and looks good.Which it does in my opinion.
    Yes, they are on to something here, but I'd also have to look very closely at something like the Z1000SX for circa £3,500 cheaper.

    @AMPJ08 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It looks a bit heavy to flick into the lean or from side to side... or? I've seen you on other bikes and this one seems not to have as much weight on the front? or is it the wheel base?
    I thought it would be a lot more agile again judging video.

    Looking like the rider in this video was one of the quicker journalists out there that day, and keeping a nice smooth pace on those "street tires" as well. Man, technology has come a long way with bikes! I know that it is a toss up between this Supersport S and my Thruxton R as far as enjoyment in riding is concerned, but the Ducat has some nice panniers to make those longer weekends much more user friendly. Ducati nailed it with this bike in regards to their target audience ... a "real world sport bike for the masses", and one that can be ridden well without having to look like a poser on a Superbike with lights. Cant wait to get on the track with mine!!

    Love the sound and wind screen, but I hate the headlights and dash. I see no reason why they couldn't add better looking LED headlights for the price. I was looking to get a Monster 821 this year, but I'll hold off a bit and see how this fares.

    Glad to see the SS make a come back. I ride an 02 900ie and 00 996. The SS is perfect on the street and long rides. I will eventually pick up a used 1299 when the price is right but I always held out hope for another SS. Overall I like the new bike. Unfortunately it's not enough to pick one up. Power is right where it should be. The SSSA is awesome. Not digging the dual exhaust. I think an under engine design that fills in missing fairings look would have cleaned up the bottom which is a bit of a mechanical eyesore. The fairings just sorta end. That dash. Oh that dash. I was beginning to clear space in the garage then I saw the hideous blue dash. I thought we had moved past the cluttered digital calculator look when the 1199 color screen showed up. I have hated that dash since the 1098. Also the reason I never got 898. I'll be waiting to see how it evolves but as it stands right now the new SS is not enough to sway an old SS owner to pick one up.

    • @andersgustafsson712
      @andersgustafsson712 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More like a sporty everyday bike (like stated by Torrent) with focus on a good torque curve and not so much an all out HP-beast. Guessing (and hoping) it'll be really good on small twisty roads.

    • @Ghasemiani
      @Ghasemiani 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cosmetics is basically the only thing the Panigale and the SS actually do have in common. Contrary to the name (Supersport) the SS is actually in the Sport-tourer segment, more upright and relaxed seating position and linear engine mapping. Engine on the SS is the Testastretta with 113HP, same as on their hypermotard. Not at all as powerful as the Panigale. I am very eager to try this bike out!

      It may be more likely that the public is confused as to what Ducati seeks to accomplish with the Supersport. The bike's premise seems solid to me.

    • @hollowaysteve
      @hollowaysteve 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      EDGEDAZZA I'm not confused. Having been riding 35 years and had quite a few in line fours including fire blades and R1's I'm getting on a bit and have had Bmw r1100s and currently run an r1200s and Kwack zrx1200. This is perfect In the real world. A 115bhp torquey v twin is enough on our busy roads and having sat on one of these it appears that it will be all day comfortable and it looks good. It's like a honda VFR but with Ducati allure. The VFR is one of the best selling bikes of all time so not confusing at all. I'd have one, no question.

    • @Texarmageddon
      @Texarmageddon 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's a sport touring bike.. It's just people who want a more usable street sport bike.. Supersports are a dying breed...
      Hence why all the companies are trying hard to compete in Naked, Sport Touring, Touring, and Adventure bikes...They're all moving away from SuperSports except for the main big superbike..
      IF you had a choice to buy a panigale or a Sport touring bike maybe 50lbs heavier, have a set of panniers, just as good looking, just as fast with incredible handling, but more comfortable would you not take the second choice?
