    You've got to hand it to the Italians, when it comes to styling they've nailed it. It's a beauty.

      I love everything about it except the failure of the windscreen: they should've brought the fairing up framing out the screen. This screen looks like an aftermarket screwed-on a naked bike. That beauty and riding position is awesome still.

    I test rode both the Supersport S and the Panigale 959. I opted for the Supersport- I don't intend to use it on the track so for general use, it suits me better than the Panigale. I love the looks too. It has all the power you need for street use and, in fact, the power is more accessible (at lower RPM), than the Panigale. Add the greater comfort and reduced heating, and you have a winner. I love the bike. I don't see it as having any meaningful compromises over the Panigale for street use. I agree that the mirrors are very disappointing- they are not useless, but above 50 mph, the image is very blurred.

    I just bought a 2019 939 Supersport non S model, with only 2159 km on it. and it has the back seat cover, I bought it after only looking at pictures and seeing a video of it running. I made an offer online and had it delivered the next day, when they pulled it out of the van my first reaction was wow this is a beautiful looking machine. it looked like new like it just came off the showroom floor. and when I road it for the first time my first impression was that it was even better than I was hoping for. and the second time I road it I fell in love with it. I love the seat hight. I love the stable confident inspiring handling. the way it holds lines around the sweeping turns. the sound of the stock pipes, the power delivery. the only negative is the shaking mirrors, and the engine heat. and I live in a very hot place. but I have tested many bikes. and owned a few in my life. and this is my favorite bike I have every owned. it is so sweet, every time I look at it I drool. I bought the gps tracker with the link on your channel. but I haven't received it yet. I hope when I get it that it works as good as I'm expecting it too.

    You're not the only one to complain about the mirrors, in fact just about every video I've watched on this bike says they vibrate/buzzs quite badly at almost all speeds. (perhaps they buzz so much they loosen the bolts off a bit?)
    As mentioned by many, this needed a few things to really hit the mark, namely cruise control, heated grips and a lower price.
    Great video as always.

      Try injecting spray foam into the mirror housing. When it expands & dries, trim off the excess.

    Great to see you have got your hands on a dealers Ducati, a dealer has seen sense !!! Nice review, looks good, and even better once that tail tidy has been ripped off !!!, and replaced by an R&G.... looks a nice ride, a sensible amount of usable power...love your reviews, must be the best Vlogger on the Tube, good quality honest reviews and detail, not like the many 4-10 mins rushed reviews that are around !!!!... thanks for you dedication and hard work !!!!

    Just recently purchased a 2019 SuperSport, and I absolutely love the SuperSport series. Haven’t rode in six years, and that bike made me feel right at home after that time. Always wanted a Ducati as well, and I can’t recommend it enough, either of the years.

    I've done about 600 miles or so on the SuperSportS and loved it. The mirrors are rubbish, not sure tightening them would help. I did find you needed to be pretty positive with the quick shifter when really on it especially when changing up beyond 4th, quite a few neutrals which I never got on the 959. In fact if you ride this and the 959 back to back you do notice why the 959 is more money but I guess they are two propositions. Mighty comfy as you say and you can do a good 200 miles in a day no problem on the twisties.
    Totally agree if you've only got one bike it's a great option, looks good and the down blipper sounds great in the lower gears, pop pop!

    Bought my SSS in March 2019. Best first big bike in my opinion. 60hp in urban mode. 112hp in sport mode. Beautifully balanced and great around town. I ride it 7 days, rain or shine. Mirrors you can replace as a recall from the dealer. I’ve done 3500 miles in 4 months, commuting around London and small trips out of town. If you’re a big boy and act responsibly, this will be a great first big, new bike. The screen at the front is adjustable. Suspension front and back is adjustable. 16 litre tank, riding in town, gives you 170 miles of range.

      Aniket Rana evevry bike is toasty between the legs once it heats up. This one , the heat is very well managed. Two fans try to keep the temperature down and kick in at 100+ to bring back down below 100. This is ONLY in standing traffic. On the road you do not notice any heat. I managed to keep the temperature down to as low as 77-78 degrees going 70mph on a motorway.

    Borrowed one when my 1299 was in for service. Did nearly 200 miles before I took it back. On twisty B roads , miles more fun than the pani. No aches or pains either. 1 80 mile tank on the 1299 and my shoulders where killing . Quick phone call. Deal done in 15 minutes. Love it. As much fun without without the pain. Honestly don't miss the old bike at all. Really enjoyed the video aswell.

    Great review MSF, lovely looking bike . I think Ducati haven't got it quite right calling it a sports tourer mind . Small petrol tank , no pannier or top box mounting points , compared to the opposition ( Honda VFR Kawasaki Z 1000 etc )

      Ducati actually call it a sport-road bike and it`s not a placement to the old ST line so you are right it`s not a proper sport tourer and even with the available semi rigid panniers it`s leaning more toward the sporty side of touring.Basic oil service is at 15,000 km or 12 months and valve clearance at 30.000 km

    • @GaryJohnWalker1
      @GaryJohnWalker1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really a tourer - but I think it looks like a genuine "GT" in the sense of fast longer distance express. Hotel at every night stop of your journey rather than campsite, and not much luggage, it'd be fun and relatively comfortable (noted exhaust heat issue aside) even if you needed frequent fuel stops.

    • @jimheaton9503

    • @MyQUAP

      Exactly my thoughts Bob. I mean they named it Supersport and that's definitely not what she is and sportstourer.. I also think that's not what it is.

    • @JerryAnyz
      @JerryAnyz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benjamincs1 you are totally right - thanks to higher torque of 1260 it is smoother in low revs, but from my experience, Ducati bikes love to run in higher revs :) at 950s I can use even 5th on normal roads gear and not drive like a lunatic. 1260 is build for much higher speed. If you love driving really fast, ten go for 1260. If you want to enjoy more potencial of the bike, ten 950s - my experience :)

With the amount of video content you're creating I reckon you'd be getting more than your money worth in expanded options and ease of use. Maybe worth trying it for a month to see if you like it? I work in film and TV postproduction, an intuitive and good editing suite is invaluable.

    Nice review and never considered the Supersport since I'm leaving the sportbike scene after many years and many Ducatis and some Hondas later. However, I have great memories of my 01 900 Supersport and certainly, the new Supersport is a vast upgrade and I like what I see. I really like the modified riding position, but yet the bike has sportbike features and suspension, which is important. As I got older, the harder it was to stay on a sportbike more than 2 to 3 hours without feeling pain here and there, now I'm thinking the new Supersport should have much better comfort range. It might even be possible to slap on some panniers and do a decent overnight road trip. Your review now has me thinking the Supersport just might be the best real world option of staying connected to sportbike performance with some riding creature comforts.

    Thank you for the informative review. Please don't kid yourself about the shaking mirrors being specific to the sample you rode. The one I rode did the same thing, and I've watched many TH-cam videos of people riding and reviewing the new Supersport and the mirrors are blurring the images in every case. Ducati has, IMHO, always considered mirrors to be a necessary evil in order to meet safety laws as reflected in the lack of usability in so many of Ducati's sports models historically. The unfortunate thing with this model is that you can't get rid of the factory mirrors in favor of bar-end mirrors or something else because they also house the turn signals. I'm hoping they will address this issue in the new model year, but somehow I doubt they will. Great bike otherwise. Thanks again, and ride safe!

    I had a try on one of these a few months back, loved it, very east to ride, but still great fun & fast enough for me. Only thing that put me off was the heat cumming from the left side of the engine, noticeably when stopped at traffic lights. Not sure I can live with this as an "all rounder"

    Any plans on reviewing or trying out the new one? I just bought a new 950S to go alongside my Speed Twin; quite impressed. The new TFT is fantastic, and the IMU with cornering ABS is great peace of mind... I also think the new fairings and Panigale-esque features are appropriate. They seem to have moved away from the 'sport touring' angle (the words aren't in the motorcycle's description on the Ducati site). I plan to ride the 950s all year, provided there isn't snow or ice on the ground - the extra safety features over the Speed Twin make it likely the safer choice for the wet stuff!

    Another great review from you. If it's a sports tourer, does Ducati sell a GPS kit for the bike? Or do you have to go full aftermarket?
    It is a beautiful bike, typical of Ducati's. It seems to be biased to more sport than tourer, as opposed to the R1200RT which is biased towards touring rather than sport. Since you've reviewed both, what do you think?

One year after passing DAS, Question is do I go Ducati's accessible sports tourer the Multistrada 950 or old school with the VFR800F. How about a back to back test old school ST vrs Modern Adventure Tourer. it would be Interesting to know why VFR's et al have gone out of fashion nowadays.

    For a first rider with potential of having intermediary skills, which out of the two would you choose as a good first bike (Ducati Supersport S or BMW R Nine T Rac) and would that one be compatible be with the Harley Davidson Roadster as a second bike that not only harbors cruiser qualities, but it's definitely a reliable bike that's toned down for the "Mondays" that you need a bike, while you have something just as fun as one of the two first bikes, but more of a deeper, old-school torquier way?

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I wouldn’t choose any of those as a first bike - my advice would be buy a second hand 600cc and learn your craft for 6 months, then move on to the expensive exotic stuff...sorry that’s not what you wanted to hear!

    I realise this video is 5 years old so i dont expect a response but oh well. I was looking on the Ducati website at this bike and they have put it in their 'Ducati depowered' section, and say that it can be ridden on an A2 license. Ive also heard this from other people (BikeMatters namely), and was wondering if you had a better idea of whether its retractable or not. According to Ducati it has 110 bhp (81kW), and i thought you could only restrict down from 70kW? I realise you might have no better idea than i do, but i cant find anything about it online. Any help would be appreciated!
