    Thanks for that video! I wanted to ask, You say it can help practice before going into the water, but isn't is unhealthy to equalize outside of water? As I understood, it can cause the opposite thing? Like when the eardrum goes too much outside?

      No, it is not dangerous or unhealthy, just dont use too much effort (especially if you do Valsalva)

      It would good to get a diver to reply here but am I right in saying the pressure in your goggles needs to be equalised too. The tip I read for this one was to let air in/out by breathing through your nose a bit into the mask. I use a full face mask and haven't experienced this so I am not sure

    • @KAIZENFREEDIVING
      @KAIZENFREEDIVING  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Before you feel any discomfort! Start with every meter ;-) And then with the practice you understand how often you need to equalize. My first equalization is even before I start the dive, and then every 2-3 meters. Some Freedivers equalize more often, some less often ;-)

    • @KAIZENFREEDIVING

      The idea is the same, but equalization in Freediving a bit more complicated since pressure changes faster :-)

    • @Unseen_Aura
      @Unseen_Aura 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I learned while researching the Frenzel that some people use it for things like planes because it's a similar situation where air pressure changes quickly. I hate the feeling and it hurts, so whenever I next go on a plane, this will come in handy. But like the OP said, the difference is greater when descending underwater. Cheerio 🖖🏼

      The feeling has to do with your chest and diaphragm flexibility, as well as your ability to relax.
      Cold water, fear, bad equalisation technique all affect your ability to relax.
      Seek out a freediving course and you'll quickly learn how to improve your ability, and you'll discover that diving to 10m and more can be easy, totally relaxing and very comfortable.

    • @KAIZENFREEDIVING
      @KAIZENFREEDIVING  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It sound for me as a common problem - a freediver not able to take some air from lungs and shifted it to the nasal cavity for equalization. In fact, it happens with many freedivers around the same depth, 27-35 meters

But on your way up this air will expand and come back to your nasal cavity. If you have any uncomfortable sensation on your way, there is a big chance that you have an inflammation in your ear. Might be because you not equalizing correctly on the way down. Need to stop diving, and 100% avoid trying to EQ your ears on the way up.
