It’s been a rough two weeks for conservative commentator, Candace Owens and former CNN host, Don Lemon. Both commentators made the mistake of believing their bosses when they said they welcome free speech - as long as they’re not talking about them.
Owens was fired from The Daily Wire and Lemon was released from X, formerly known as Twitter, before he even got his show started.
I address the hard topics. If it interests me, I'm talking about it.

I think the riff between Ben and Candace started when the Ben was for the Jab and Candace wasn't

I see the interview very different than you because to me, Don seemed to be going at the jugular, to create a gotcha moment... If that's how Don chose to do the interview as he did, he must be able accept the critique be it good or bad ...
Candace is getting what she deserves and this is just the beginning. She’s perpetuated the worst stereotypes when it comes to blk people and only became famous because of it.
It's difficult to not take things personally, but if you're about free speech, you have to be okay with speech.

Exactly. Many people are really upset about innovrnt civilians and children especially being killed. But, this situation is so touchy that people are being called antisemitic just for expressing that they have a problem with kids dying.

I too, feel that what happened in October warranted Israel going into Gaza for hamas, but I do feel it is going too far now, Netanyahu must stop. He should realise that hamas are using the Palestinian people against him, he can go after hamas forever but it will always be the ordinary man on the street, whether Israeli or Palestinian that will be hurt.

Ben IS emotional on the subject but he's also FACTUAL. I think everybody does a bad job of explaining what anti-juiçz hate is. It's not criticizing Netanyahu or the war or the IDF. But if you REALLY believe that it's stolen land, or k***ing children for fun, then you probably are. I think Candace kind of treaded that line a little close more than a few times.
Again, this is why tell people think for yourself don't pick sides. We live in a world where everybody is picking one side over the other stop doing that. Think for yourself, for God damn sake.
For Don Lemon it was different. He was expressing his desire to CENSOR speech. I do not think it makes any sense for Elon to employ a man so at odds with the first amendment.

Personally, I'm going to give Candace Owens grace on her Gaza comments. Hamas attacked the concert festival October 2023, she goes on maternity leave November 17, 2023, has her baby November 20, 2023, returns to work January 2024. I can understand why she would be so upset with the bombing of women and children in Gaza, it's called empathy. Although other issues were probably brewing behind the scenes between Shapiro and Owens for a while, time to part ways. As for the Lemon/Musk interview - yikes, didn't know it even happened. Asking someone why they're taking ketamine - wow. As for your question - Candace could start her own podcast easily, Don not so much. Enjoy your channel - thank you.

I don't care what either of them do. Don Lemon demonstrated why he was fired from CNN. He is a lousy interviewer and exercises poor judgement. The idea that he set out to do a gotcha interview of the man who signs the front of his paychecks is mindboggling. I'm not a fan of Musk, but I also can't think of any boss that would let his employee embarrass him publicly and get away with it.

She’ll no doubt bounce higher without the Daily Wire. Daily Wire is in damage control mode, adding fuel to the fire with calling people antisemetic for stating “Christ is King”. Alienating their Christian subscribers, a major core audience of theirs. I’m an Atheist, but still see how ludicrous labeling people that worship a Jew as antisemitic.
All of this has really shown the idea of a “Jewish Conspiracy”, may not be such a far out idea.

Don Lemon is a literal corporate media lemon. He sucks. He plays at cry bullying as an oppressed victim of an agreeable employer who was already overpaying him. He never had the pull of Owens and he never will.
I watch both sides. This way I have a more objective mindset. I don't watch one side over the other. I watched the left. I watched the right. I watch the center. I watch Nancy's. I watch good people. Bad people. I watch a bit of everybody including this channel to get a perspective on what people are again. I think for myself that's the way to be.

Ever heard the saying, "Nothing's for free"? Everything costs something. The price will always be a sacrifice, tradeoff or compromise. It is what it is.l 😎
I am not sure where/when the thought that freedom of speech protects you from an employer, social group, religious group, etc. That freedom protects you from government consequences...and even that is a very loose protection. You are able to say whatever you like but you have to deal with the consequences.
I don't think that's the issue. The DW has branded themselves as a pro free speech, anti woke media outlet. So for them to let Candice go because of her stance on the Israel Palestine conflict and the Kanye West remarks, they end up looking like hypocrites for doing so. That's mainly why people are upset with the DW.

The problem with people on the right. They think they're right about everything they're not. I agree with some of the things I do say yes, but I disagree with a lot of things I say. Also, this is why tell people think for yourself? When you think for yourself you have a more open mind on what's going on on both sides, but we've probably people. Please people tend to follow and take one side over another. If you're a lefty, everything the right says is wrong. If you're on the right everything the left says is wrong. Instead of sitting back and have a more open mind about it and thinking for yourself. Most people don't think for themselves. People are taking too much taking sides too much. This is why America is divided.

Chances are her contract with them restricted her ability to broadcast on her own. If this dust up had not occurred, I suspect she would have left at the end of her agreement.

As a general rule, having a fight with your boss in public is never a good idea. I don't love everything my employer does but I keep my comments private. That is what any sane person does.
I'm ok with Candace going. I actually stopped Daily wire because of her (not due to the Israel comments - supporting the death penalty for homosexuals is just too far gone for me). It sometimes sucks that you can speak out against your employer in public without consequence but it's also very normal. That is the reality for... well, everyone. It just is.
Not familiar with Don Lemon or the interview, but if what you describe is accurate it sounds reasonable. IIt doesn't sound like he is a good interviewer so why would Elon keep him on if this was an example of what his show would be like? It doesn't professional.

It is okay to oppose the war in Gaza. It's okay to criticize Israel. What's not okay is how the support of the Palestine has evolved into hatered of Jews. I'm not saying Candace Owen is Anti-Semantic, she is a very bright women and has a a lot of insightful things to say. Unfortunately anything that has to do with Israel it endangers Jews worldwide. The Don Lemmon interview was horrible, if that was his best maybe he needs a new career.
I have been watching the news, as well as reading commentary on social media and have seen and heard Jewish people accusing folks of being antisemitic just for expressing sympathy for Palestinian kids and civilians. That's not fair. Nor is it right. It seems any opposition to this war is being met with vitriol. I have read comments from Jewish people who are definitely more measured and understanding...but go and look at the comments and the things that are being said. This is a tough situation. I unsubbed from Candice Owens a while ago, I liked her takes on various topics etc but it just felt to me like she was becoming increasingly angrier and abrupt, maybe I was imagining things? But to me she wasn't herself after joining the DailyWire and it put me off watching her.
That being said, I remained subbed to Ben and the DailyWire up until their treatment and firing of Candice because I found it hypocritical that they claim to champion free speech... up until it doesn't align with their own that is, touchy subject or not...
I mean most of what they cover are often very divisive subjects and when you have two, what I'd call honest and outspoken people closely connected or working with each other they're going to eventually butt heads on some topics especially those that they hold personally.
There are as you pointed out, reasons for them to perhaps start pushing her out and this may have been the straw but to me it wasn't a justifiable last straw and that's the reason that they've seen backlash.

You are well spoken, composed, and often have thoughtful insights. However, sometimes I find the way you frame issues to be unfair and deceptive. You present as though Candice Owens and other right-leaning commentators criticize the trans community, Feminism, and woke-ism purely out of hatred or bigotry. Factually, there are some very severe and horrifying issues entrenched in those groups. That is what she speaks out about. Those groups aren't somehow irrevocably infallible. In a free and just society anyone and everyone should be criticized when they harm others. No one thinks twice about criticizing conservatism because it has become so ingrained in our culture nobody bats an eye anymore. In reality the conservatives have now become the minority voice. Isn't woke-ism all about uplifting the minority at all costs?

They didn't fire her over her political stance on Israel but I'm sure it created tension. She'll do great on her own! As for Mr. Lemon, he bit the hand that fed him...I think it was planned. Notice how he immediately went to CNN to report on his interview? I think the man wants his old job back and to get back in the Lefties good graces by "confronting" Elon Musk. Elon was their original super star billionaire who was going to save the world until he went off script and exposed their propaganda machine. I'm glad Don was fired, it was disrespectful what he did to Elon. There is a right way and a wrong way to ask hard questions, he clearly had ulterior motives.

How was he supposed to ask these questions? Be honest with yourself, Elon was expecting softball questions like what's your favourite color. She didn't bad-mouth the company, she responded to a colleague who bad-mouthed her, first. He stood on a stage and called her disgraceful and accused her of "faux sophiatication." But, apparently it's ok because it's Ben. Their spat should have been handled internally. As the co-owner and co-founder, Ben should have handled it like a mature professional. It's his company.

I think Candace lost her job because both she and Ben are stubborn hot heads who probably had several bitter confrontations offline. They used to be friends so I think it was probably extra personal for Ben when she was critical of Israel so they decided to part ways. It was probably mutual.
I think Don Lemon had his show canceled because it was boring. I don’t think it was that much because Elon is thin-skinned even though he can be. I just think Elon didn’t do his homework in figuring out what Don Lemon would be like as a news personality. Elon is used to a more long-form podcast style and decided Don Lemon was from a school of journalism that’s dying and decided not to invest in it. I don’t think Elon came across great either but he didn’t censor Don Lemon like a lot of people are claiming. He just decided not to pay Don Lemon to do his show which is not a violation of free speech. Don Lemon is free to promote his show on X.
As for the potential ugly image you mentioned as a hypothetical that could be posted on X, that is on the borderline of being illegal. I think Elon intends to try to stick to the spirit of the freedom of speech in the US constitution which does not allow all speech. Libel is illegal as is speech that promotes violence. An image of a victim of a violent act could be seen as an incitement to violence.

I think what we have here is quite possibly two, definitely one reaching the realization that they were "The New Black Face".
I personally (just my opinion) believe that B.S. found a POC who aligned themself with a lot of his otherwise bigotive views to make them look not so bigotive.

We all know Elon Musk has some very negative views towards POC. Don Lemon an otherwise high profile previous national television news anchor/host was hired by E.M. to paint him in a brighter light within the views of those that his remarks may have offended. D.L. chose to not so much do that. He basically dimmed the light that E.M. was trying to have shine upon himself. In doing so the interview went in the direction of "you are biting the hand that feeds you". This is exactly what he meant when he told him to choose his questions wisely.
D.L. grilled him no differently than he would have grilled the regular Joe blow.
Next move for the both of them. The two of them should come together and start their own podcast.
I think with their differences on the outlook of certain views it could lead to some steamy but yet informative takes on things happening in the world today.

Don lemon can be a very aggressive and pushing journalists. I have seen this in many interviews that he has done with various people.
When he began making statements on CNN that got him asked, it's at this point lemon should have learned by prior mistakes he made but chose not to.
Fortunately, Don lemon often rubs people the wrong way, not everybody but a good majority.
The 1st Amendment protects you from the government (with few exceptions), not the consequences of legal, but controversial behavior.
I despise Musk and always have. He is repulsive on so many levels.
Don Lemon never really cranked my tractor, and his comments to CNN woman reporters angered me greatly.
If I had to chose who to invite to dinner, I would choose Lemon, but I wouldn't be thrilled.

Defending yourself is one thing but blowing up almost all the hospitals and stopping civilians from getting access to basic necessities is going too far. Where do you draw the line? Ma’am I’ll say that din lemon is his own mess. But Candice? She’s not busy trying to be trapsy or catch anybody in anything unethical.
Shapiro is the cofounder of the DW he’s not simply a coworker, let’s not pretend otherwise. Publicly insulting one of the founders of the company you work for is never a good idea, particularly if the attacks are ad hominem.
The DW has many contributors, and many of them disagree with Shapiro’s perspective on different issues, including Israel.
What they don’t do is make ridiculous accusations like “Israel is segregating people in Jerusalem, like Jim Crow in the south”. Or liking posts by a known Nazi who stated a Rabbi was “drunk on Christian blood”. Or claimed Israel is committing genocide. Candace cross the line many, many times.
I have a background in law and Human Resources and I can’t imagine any company I worked for tolerating Candace Owens.
There’s another issue you’re failing to address. Candace has an employment contract which was expiring, it’s very possible that she wanted to negotiate a higher salary with more control over her work or she wanted to go out on her own and this is the real reason for her departure.
She does thrive in creating drama and has benefited from quite a few altercations with celebrities.
I suspect she wanted things to come to a head so she would be able to leave the DW while casting herself as a victim, thank goodness she escaped the DW Plantation.
This is not an issue of free speech, if you don’t believe this, go to your place of employment and start making wild, inflammatory claims and see how people react. Owens has been getting more and more unhinged in her communications. The last thing she claimed is that P. Diddy unalived Michael Jackson, all while constantly reminding us she’s “Team G-d” and quoting scripture at you. It’s bizarre.

Let me ask you something. You say you were an HR professional. Would an employee in your organization be allowed to misgender someone? Be it a colleague or customer/client? Ben, Candace and many others on The Daily Wire platform misgendered people on a daily basis and yet no one was fired. Why is that?
Ben has openly mocked trans women, gender fluid people, etc...made ageist remarks. What would be the fate be for someone in your organization if they made similar remarks?

I cant do Don Lemon. I just find him really disingenuous and weasely and boring for good measure. I don't think he has a clue how to interview people and I just don't think he proved anything here with Musk. I don't think he would have had a show for long in any case. I think he makes the interview subject tense and gets very little out of them. He sort of performs the style of an interviewer that has somebody on the ropes but without anything substantive. He's so effing boring.
I love your videos whether I agree or not. I think hearing just mindless ideological opinion would make me unsub someone especially if they were boring but hearing opinions I don't share that come off the back of an actual viewpoint that that person can articulate and evidence is fascinating. I think you approach these topics in a very interested open fair minded way and all media needs more of that, plus they're funny often at the sane time. Yours is one of the few channels I (somewhat aggressively) recommend to friends 😅
My friends vary from one end of the political spectrum to the other and its more fun to talk about politics with someone I don't agree with or at least don't all the way in most cases. I've come to really appreciate this as ive gotten older. I'm not saying my opinion changes every time but some have certainly added a lot of context or a perspective I just didn't even clock. I think it's intellectually so limiting to be afraid to be wrong.

As Israel is one of our allies, I believe we should help them to some extent. I also think there should be a limit to the amount of money we are giving to any other nation (ie. Ukraine). Most importantly we should ALWAYS take care of our own before throwing our aid to people who don’t live here.
Not helping to fund wars overseas will not help the homeless here. People need to realize the problems we have were here before the wars and whenever a proposal is made to try and fix it all we hear is “Not with my tax dollars”. Please.

Hi Rogan, i think your commentary on this was very thought out, and i appreciate that you, unlike other commentators, give both sides of the equation. I will say, the comments Candace made on Israel, i don't think it's what had daily wire and her part ways. Even with the Kanye issue, both Ben and the CEO of daily wire defended her right to be friends with kanye. I feel that both Candace and the daily wire had enough of eachother, and they parted ways. Candace it seems has not aligned with the daily wire and what they stand for for a while now. Two things can be true at the same time, i think she has exhibited some anti semitic statements or defended them from others, but she has done allot for her community. I will also say, while critisizing the Israeli government is fair game, what is happening is not that criticism. Jewsish people have seen the rise in antisemitism go up exponentially since October 7th. Even before Israel retaliated, trying to get ha mas and the hostages back, people were calling for the destruction of jews and Israel. Protesting has turned into all around is hate for Israel and jews, holocaust survivors have been harrased, denial of rape, killing etc. This is why it's hard to believe people sometimes why they say they are just critisizing the war, since we see so much hate following the critisism.

I have Muslim and Jewish colleagues. The hatred between the two sides is unbearable. One like me...I can call out bad behavior and still have compassion. I can say I support Israel for defending itself, yet I feel sorry for the innocent civilians being killed. But, people don't hear that. They hear that I am not siding with them 100%. It is annoying as hell. As for Candace, I didn't sense any sort of rift between her and The Daily Wire team before October 7th.

As for Candace, what I really think it came down to was outside pressure that has been going on for a while from both sides.
