Unhappily, freedom of the press only truly exists for those who own the presses. This is why control of the media is such a big deal, and why we as citizens should not stand for it.

When I was a teenager, in 1993, my roommate found Ice Cube's "The Predator" tape on the floor somewhere, and no one claimed it. We listened the SHIT out of it. It was raw, catchy, edgy, at times funny... I've been a fan ever since. During his interview, he had a moment you didn't respond to where he referred to the conversation about race feeling like being trapped in a theater watching a bad movie and the exits are all locked. He talked about connecting more sometimes with people who look nothing like him, how that's life. It made my wife and me tear up because that's EXACTLY what it feels like. If anyone hates Ice Cube for speaking his mind, they can go to hell. He gets to talk, I get to listen.

Not calling him a saint, but he also married his "high-school" sweet heart. I grew up in that lane, yea hang with people below your pay grade and then wake up and realize you need to grow up and change. And when I say lower pay grade, I don't mean human worth. Ice cube has shown black men how to do politics like every other community. You talk to everyone and get the deal that is best for your particular groups. Many black Americans had a problem with that. Now he takes a series of interviews and some black people have a problem with that. Black Americans are politically backwards. This 60 year experiment where we all vote for one party who does nothing for us but remind us about what they did for us in the 60s , isn’t working. Ice Cube has been pro black his entire life. These “cancel culture” advocates are beyond ridiculous and are nothing but bullies. Because they don’t agree with where Ice Cube goes to speak on issues they want to “cancel” him?
These neophytes to politics and negotiations need to sit down, be quiet and ask for permission to speak when they mature enough to realize everyone is entitled to their opinion, and being black does not mean that you must co-sign everything that other black folks say and do just because they are black.
What damage did Ice Cube do to anyone in the black community by going on Tucker Carlson? Is it the same “damage” India Arie did when she said that there is a time & place for everything (aka tacky twerk culture does not need to be in every room)?
Was that more damaging than the recent affirmative action ruling?

I’ve had a decent number of black friends who have left the D party and become I or R and have been shunned by friends and families ... yes, even their families. I try to avoid listening to celebrities because so many have forgotten what it is like to be a middle class, working person; where we work hard for a living and watch our paycheck closely. I really don’t care if someone is D or R, I just want people to REALLY look at 3 - 5 important topics, rather than just 1 when it rolls around to election time, and to make a solid judgement for themselves.

We used to judge people on what they said, not where they said it 😅 I think it's sad and scary that we're embracing this kind of black and white thinking of us vs them and criticising debate or any attempt to build bridges. He's absolutely right; even nations at war communicate so why can't we speak to those we disagree with? This cultist mindset has become mainstream and that's not good for any side. We're further isolated and divided and that's only going to strengthen our mutual hate. Good for Ice Cube for not staying in the cult, on either side.

This backlash is exactly why I don’t vibe with the black community like that, because who are these self-appointed gatekeepers? 🤷🏽‍♀️🤔 In fact, there’s another black Tiktoker, Patience Xina, who made a video discussing whether or not the black community is a cult. Well, for me, it certainly feels like it when the masses take it upon themselves to attack, bully, “disown”, and “shame” other black people who “step out of line”. 😒 Honestly, I’ve had my black card taken away by some many random black folks and it’s like, “Are you guys serious? Was that supposed to hurt my feelings?” 🤔🤦🏽‍♀️
Of course, it doesn’t bother me for two reasons. 1. I refuse to let people make me feel bad for being me anymore. I’m not middle or high school anymore, so those days are done. 2. I’m half Puerto Rican through my dad anyway. Plus, I’ve got Native American and Irish ancestry on my mom’s side. So, by all means, take away my “black card”. I've always seen IC as someone who spoke his mind with the knowledge that it might be unpopular but with an "it is what it is" attitude. The tone of the this clip is not the strongly unapologetic IC who usually shows up but he still made some valid points. I agree with OP he should have taken the call with KH. lol. If it's not productive, call it out , offer a solution and get it on track. I do believe this country would be in less mess IF we had more conversations with the intent to understand. Not necessarily agree but understand.

4:53 I understand your point and concern here but as Neil Degrasse Tyson has stated, infectious diseases have to be handled differently than other issues like abortion, which believe the same “my body my choice” principle. In the case of infectious diseases, not only is the host affected, but also everyone else the person has had contact with as well. I think mandatory vaccines are much less intrusive compared to other mandates. For example in Michigan nobodies allowed to hunt without having taken and successfully completing a hunters safety course. The sole purpose of the course isn’t meant to teach hunters how to be safe themselves, but more so covers on how to be safe as to not harm other hunters and people in the area.

I certainly wouldn't want to get infected because someone was careless. But, the problem is...I got the vaccine, all of them, and still got sick. I know folks who didn't get the vaccine and isolated and wore masks consistently and they didn't get sick. I didn't like that people who wanted the vaccine were so quick to call people stupid just because they had genuine concerns about the vaccine. I also got upset that people who didn't want the vaccine were quick to call me and others stupid for getting it.

You forget that even within the scientific community, several experts had raised concerns about how the government was handling the issue, and about the possible effects of the shots. But because they weren't supporting the "official" narrative, they got heavily censored and shut down at every turn. No one has a right to force a substance into your body when they cannot (as it turned out) guarantee the effects it will have on you in the long run. I am no less valuable than anyone else.

The vaccine doesn’t prevent the spread of or transmission of the disease. It never did and they knew that from jump yet they tried so hard to convince the masses this was the case. Medical treatments, vaccines, etc. should always be an individual decision/choice. The government, medical professionals, etc. can provide education and resources about the treatment/vaccine, but ultimately, the decision should rest with the individual.

I have to say that it doesn't matter what opinions people have about Ice Cube going on whatever show he chooses. Who are we to criticize his decision? If he's not infringing on another person's rights, how could his choice to go on whatever show matter? I see on all sides of the political isle that anyone who is 'supposed' to be this or that goes on a show that they criticize, well then that person must be pandering or some such nonsense; it's rather sad, immature, and intellectually lazy.
The advent of social media highlights just how many non-thinkers there are in society and how so many just have knee-jerk reactions or just operate on an emotional level. For example: if Bob follows Joe because he thinks that Joe represents and is a voice for what he stands for....and suddenly Joe goes on a platform that Bob is against, Bob then feels betrayed by Joe. Bob, who used to love Joe, turns against Joe...like a spouse that cheated on him. Love becomes anger and/or hate.
There are many fragile people that can't accept someone if they think differently or in a way they didn't assume, especially if they feel betrayed by who they thought represented them on a national level. No surprise though, considering that things seem to be ruled more and more by emotion rather than rational discussion. Example: allowing men in women's sports. That is a purely emotional decision that denies biological fact and reality.
