“Ripple” by The Grateful Dead, covered by Toni Lindgren

Learned this tune for a friend's wedding recently and thought it'd be a good one to record while I was passing through Tahoe on the way back home. Messed up a little bit on the last verse, but it's real, y'know? Shoutout to Fallen Leaf Lake for being an absolute beauty and making the sunset look extra nice, and Elle for shooting this one for me.

So glad we were able to capture this beautiful moment right before the sunset near Tahoe. Just as Toni was finishing the song and I was putting the camera away, some locals were walking up to watch the sunset at this spot-also fans of the Dead. We jammed and talked with them for a while until it got dark, and then we all went on our way. A great memory! Hope y’all enjoy Toni’s take on Ripple. :) -Elle
😍🥰🥰🥰
Miss Toni plays & sings & makes my ❤ sing too.
Thank you Miss Toni .
Love it!
I'm supposed to be sleeping, now I'm happy crying. Thx❤
If you ever have a chance, please stop by and perform at former Rancho Olompali (now a State Park) near Novato, CA. This is where the Dead hung out, sang, and lived in the late 60s.
Beautiful rendition of this song. Always enjoy your playing Toni. Thanks for all you do.
There's something so deeply moving about Toni's voice. As always her guitar playing is just so lovely. What a perfect cover of a wonderful song.
She is a classic folk artist.
Toni, all I can say is ..... more please.
You are one my favorite guitarists in the entire world. And, your voice just makes it a perfect combination. More please.
As a road warrior of over 300 Dead shows (71-95) I just love when young musicians carry the torch.
Thank you for your service!
Wow I can’t imagine the amazing memories you must have 🥹🐢💀🎸
thank U for keepin a seat warm on the bus .i love hearing from ole Dheads as much as meeting new young ones . Peace On .
Write the book while you still remember. 😎🌻🌈
Beautiful job Toni. Somewhere Jerry is smiling at this rendition.
What about Robert. I love his story about how this song came about.
I love this. ❤
A beautiful version of a beautiful song. Bravo, young lady.
I don't know what's more beautiful... Toni, the mountains, the melody, the voice... Love it!
The lyrics, its the lyrics.
Hunter & Garcia RIP.
NFA
Toni…so gentle, peaceful, quieting…sweet lullaby lady. Easy playing, true to every note…clear and clean as mountain air. Blessed. Gifted. Thank you, ma’am! More please. Much more
One "thumbs-up" just isn't enough for the smiles you bring with your music.
I came here to say the same! At least we can comment AND thumbs up. Aren't these two just the best?
My favorite Dead song played and sung beautifully in a beautiful surrounding! Thank you!
For my 15th birthday, in 1972, my older brother gave me a copy of Workingmans Dead and took a friend and I to see my first concert, the Grateful Dead in KCK 11/72. Over 50 years later Hunter’s words and Garcia’s music still inspire me and I’m still a DeadHead. I’m pleased younger generations continue to be inspired too! Thank you for this beautiful version! “Let there be songs to fill the air!”⚡️💀🌹
What a great rendition of a great song by a wonderful musician and young lady. A magical moment, for sure, and very lucky site seerers!
When I was 18, I met Jerry Garcia twice. Both times it was around 2am in the morning. The Grateful Dead would be performing at the Carrier Dome, and after the show, they’d end-up at my truck stop. I would come inside from working on a tractor trailer, just as Jerry would come strolling out of the diner, with the check in his hand.
Living in The City during 60’s and on thru the 70’s, the Grateful Dead’s Ripple…Toni touches my heart singing it, Love the Dead, love Toni
Really love this......takes me away into a dream
Every once in a while, the universe gives us a beautiful troubadour. I’ve run out of words to describe her performances. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I wish I could tell Toni how beautifully she performed this song, and thank her for it.
I think you just did.
Wonder version Toni. Only a 70 year old Guitar Playing "Dead Head" freak can really appreciate the beauty of what you just played.
Bringing more beauty into the world one song at a time
I love Toni’s voice.
My baby brother passed away October 24, 2023. Forever 55 ❤️ He was a true Dead Head. My heart will be forever now be broken 💔. SAL was my first friend and best friend through it ALL up until he passed. He was nicknamed LightninSal⚡ Appropriately!!! I love your version and Sal would too!!!
I think we should petition TH-cam to allow us to give another thumbs-up every time we watch these great vids. I think I would be at 10 or so by now.
this girl shine like a bright light in any music she does ! welldone.
Hallo ich bin Rüdi aus Deutschland. Was für eine Landschaft. Was für ein Lied. Was für eine Gitarristin. So so beautiful!!!
Beautiful setting, signature guitar skills - love it when you sing - thanks for posting.
We played this song at my dad's funeral. I haven't been able to listen without a tear in my eye since. Dad would have absolutely loved y'all. He was a huge fan of folk rock and pretty female voices. He passed in March of 05. He will always be with me listening to your music.
🤗
May your father RIP. Another Deadhead to the spirit world.
Great camera work! Flare of the sun is dramatic... but you can still see details in the shadows. Magnificent mountain. Beautiful lake... and Toni making music. This video transported me far from here.
Holy-smoke, what a beautiful performance. ❤
It's amazing the life these songs have. Looking at Toni I'm guessing she wasn't even born when Ripple was released. Great songs have a life of their own. Keep the spirit alive. 🌹☮️☮️
I just played this song yesterday at a celebration for the life of a friend who recently died. He loved the Grateful Dead. Toni this version of yours is exquisitely played. I have goosebumps all over. Love you!
This woman can take a truly great song and make it even better. That is a rare talent indeed.
Love watching Toni play. And nice to see her voice featured in this one.
Thanks for doing this song. It's my favorite version. You are an amazing guitar player. I'm an old guy, and you give me hope for the future of American music.
Your mellow voice blended so perfectly with the blue mountains, the blue lake, the trees and the winds in your hair. Just superb.
Guitar mix and playing was really nice. Excellent video work and scenery!!! Great job!
One of the BEST Covers of this song I've ever heard. And I was around to buy the album right after its Release Date, back in the Day. (1970)
Amazing! Adore Tahoe, this song, and you both! I play this song almost weekly, have seen some of my favorite bands do it, and this is still so heartfelt and fresh. Bravo!
it never ceases to amaze me how EASY she makes playing the guitar look 😮
Just beautiful. Some subtle and awesome little folksy flourishes w/the guitar in there as well. Really enjoyable.
I love the way the sun shines just perfectly past her hair
Beautiful
It almost makes me want to cry... the beautiful scenery background, the music and the energy I feel through my computer of Jerry listening down and smiling while you play and sing this song. This is what makes me want to learn how to play my guitar.
Beautiful setting and a beautiful rendition of one of my favorites.❤
One of the best songs ever written and beautifully done.
This brought an old Deadhead to tears...thanks so much.
Toni is just an incredible guitarist.
It's as if she's barely pressing the guitar string to make the guitar sound. Her touch is just incredible. Not forced.
Thank you very much for your comment.
I read and reread your words with pleasure because I understand.
But I am sad that only 17 people liked my comment. Toni is an extraordinary musician. She plays with a pick and no one seems to notice her performance. She plays in the open air. This video is beautiful, with that sun. And what's that? It hasn't changed the world.
- To all the beautiful melancholic souls.
My favorite dead tune by one of my favorite guitar players! Awesome.
Wise choice to cover this particular song! This is an absolute classic. RIP to the poet who scribed the unforgettable lyrics and the Dead musicians who made this song a masterpiece.
This is the sound of hope.
What a nice treat hearing Toni sing.
Amazing rendition Toni. I am gonna sit down an relearn it with your picking technique. Happy Tuesday! 😄🥰
WOW! SO glad to come back to your amazing music, & what a beautiful rendition of one of my all-time faves. Brought me to tears. Jerry is really smiling now, as is Robert Hunter, both of whom I had the great pleasure of meeting. Thanks for all the beautiful music! You two are the bomb!
Toni plays the perfect song. I only hope in 50 more years, some equally talented young virtuoso covers it equally as well. Love to Toni, love to Jerry/Hunter and the Dead
This is one of my favorite Toni Takeovers. I must have watched this a thousand times by now!!
One of the absolute cleanest pickers around. And Toni's golden voice was just perfect for this.
Sweet voice Toni doing a classic song. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
Had me in tears, this was was my brothers favorite song, he passed about a year ago and I miss him dearly.
🤗
Sorry for your loss. I lost my brother forty years ago, Tears still flow.
I hear your voice come through the music, and I hold it close as it were my own.
Liked and shared to the world.
Elle behind the camera, with much affection. Great work both of you :)
Great rendition. So pure and natural. Also, nice shot at Lake Tahoe overlooking Emerald Bay 😎 I used to call that home.
Fantastic Toni thank you for sharing 🤗😘🤗
Thank you Toni, for doing Ripple today. Beautiful timing, My Father in law just passed couple hours ago in his living room. Larry was an old blues man, just turned 79 this month.❤❤❤
I am sorry for your family's loss, John. This song connects me to my dad, who finished his song nine years ago. The hurt never goes away, but the edges wear down over time. Please accept the love and condolences of a random man on the internet.
@@spud13x13 Right on and thank you.❤️
What a gem!
Sometimes music can move me on a journey , escape the moment , and leave me somehow spirituality fulfilled!
Toni Aced it ! TY

Such picking with strumming.. Absolutely awesome...

A good example of competent recording and performance skills. Oh and the location is nice too.
My favourite Dead song and a beautiful tribute to them, by a beautiful lady in a perfect background.
I love this! I forgot about thus song. I loved it when I was a kid. This is a beautiful rendition.
So beautiful and soothing. Amazing voice.
Toni, thank you for performing this, it brought a stirring to my soul of good times long past in my youth. ❤😊
I lived in San Francisco and in Sonoma County in the late 60’s early 70’s and I played this tune for years along with so many acoustic songs that I wrote myself, and this is still one of my favorites and it moves me deeply to hear such a beautiful rendition 🕊️💜🕊️🎶
Beautiful song , beautiful scenery, beautiful lady!!😊
Aww Toni, just gorgeous! As always, you absolutely nailed it! Thank you and Merry Christmas!!❤️🎄
Beautiful rendition Toni! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!
Bravo! That was wonderful, literally music to my ears. Loved the sound of that 6 string and you played it very well and so effortlessly. The backdrop was gorgeous, your voice was crystal clear and did justice to the song. What a great way to start my morning. Thanks!
all alone here on xmas night, but I’ve got Toni serenading the sweet grateful dead for company
Such a beautiful cover of one of my favorite Grateful Dead songs. Thank you for making me smile.

Great version of "Ripple", and a stunning backdrop to Toni's playing and singing.
Be good to you 🤍
As always , simply beautiful talent! You girls seem to know what we want to hear, and how we want to hear it done. The sounds of the music you play soothes my heart ❤️❤️❤️are
I never tire of watching Toni play and sing. Thanks for the entertainment! Oh, to have that touch on guitar. Amazing!
Man I love this, how raw and untarnished by production Toni's voice is, along with her exemplary guitar
Raw voice is Toni's attractiveness
My soul is sick and tired of professional voice.
@@user-kh5tj3sn7nyeah me too
Well done!!!
Beautifully done Toni. You always pick my absolute favorite songs. We are probably 30 years apart in age, and we love the same songs. Maybe America should take note: Start focusing on our similarities instead of our differences.
A GEM, played by another GEM! Thank you!
👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for posting this Toni. One of my favorite songs from middle school and high school. Makes me think of my friend Mike White who died from suicide this year. Used to listen to this with him. RIP Mike you were a great friend.
I'm speechless. I cannot conceive of a more perfect way to cover this beautiful song. Bravo!
How nice to start the day listening to Toni and his guitar, this Grateful Dead song is also one of my favorites and Toni made me want to take my guitar and go play it. Thanks for reminding me!
Incredible!! Both the tune and the view. Excellent, Toni!
