Ripple was written by Robert Hunter in 1970. Jerry Garcia wrote the music to this song. Several lines throughout the song have been compared to the 23rd Psalm of the Bible.

I am an old man and this has always been one of my favorite songs this has to be the best version I have ever heard and I've been listening to it for over 50 years great job

Ripple is perhaps the greatest modern popular mystical song ever written. Without a doubt the best version is the original Grateful Dead studio version, but this version is a close second. Beautifully, beautifully sung.
Andy Peace I agree. Mostly enjoy their live versions of almost any song. But Ripple studio version just has that raw splendor that comes from the beginning of something beautiful. I truly think they knew how special it was from the start. Jerry didn’t play it often because of how much it meant to him.
I would throw the Playing for Change version in also.

There is something universal about Side 2 of American Beauty even if you are into the GD that much. They put out two wonderful albums in 1970.

I find myself repeating myself over and over every time I listen to a AJ Lee version of any song. Give Robert Hunter credit for the words and Jerry Garcia for the music, but honestly the vocals and delivery of this great song now belongs to AJ Lee and we must never forget the Tuttles. They lived under a bridge,because at the time neither one of them had any money or contacts,that would start their journey !
My uncles career brought him back to the east !
Jerry’s kept him mostly west coast early on !

This has got to be one of rhe most beautiful songs ever written. So much imagery, as I listen wirh my eyes closed. Even more beautiful as sung by this young lady AJ Lee. I do not know much about her, but as much incredibile talent as our beloved Linda Ronsted. Jerry would have been proud to sing with her on any of those songs, I'm sure. Thank you for this from AJ.

AJ, I have been a fan since the beginning and this just blows me away. The phrasing and your fluid transition between the lyrics really showcases how your talent has matured When you hit those low notes I can't help but smile.

Ok, we all know AJ and Molly have done great. Does anyone know what happened to the lads? And the Dad for that matter....I think his name is Jack Tuttle and he plays the bass?
Sullivan plays with AJ in Blue Summit. Michael went into engineering I believe.
Nine years later, AJ is an even better singer. On this great song. Good to hear her and Molly together. I wish that she would have the same success as Molly. I am glad to see Sully, with his beautiful baritone voice, in her present band.

Call me crazy, but I see a very dominating father, ruling his family and music group with an iron hand. It shows.
Why is everybody seemingly so sad on stage? Looks like they received some terrible news, just 5 minutes before this session, or father Tuttle gave them a good talking to. Because later in life, Molly Tuttle and AJ Lee showed a totally different character, funny and happy most of the time.
I want this played when I leave this mortal coil.
