Hey all! It’s been a pretty hectic time lately with a ton of projects in the works for both of us, so we’ve been squeezing rehearsals into weird hours, like this one that we captured a vid of really, really early in the morning last week. In the spirit of sharing a more candid video of what life’s been like recently, here’s a clip of us rehearsing a deeper cut by Van Morrison, Stranded, that we played during yesterday’s livestream. (If you’re wondering if we normally film ourselves rehearsing, the answer is definitely not, but it’s really helpful when you’re running a song down for the first time to get a sense of what’s working and what sounds like garbage. There are elements of both working things and garbage in this clip, but hey, that’s life.) Oh, and if you're wondering about that last line... we were rehearsing for a livestream that took place on a fictional planet we created called Outpost HD28V, so I just threw that in there on a whim. Reina del Cid is a singer songwriter and leader of the eponymous folk rock band based in Los Angeles and Minnesota. Her song-a-week video series, Sunday Mornings with Reina del Cid, has amassed a devoted and diverse following made up of everyone from jamheads to college students to white-haired intelligentsia. In 2011 she began collaborating with Toni Lindgren, who is the lead guitarist on all three of Del Cid’s albums, as well as a frequent and much beloved guest on the Sunday Morning videos. The Sunday Morning videos also feature a rotating cast of bandmates, special guests, and occasional random bystanders.

Toni's playing is really good, every note is tastefully placed along the song, no needless notes, just perfect.
You don't get a good view on this video due to the angle, but it's less "no needless notes" (I mean if that means "no unnecessary embellishments", sure), and more "no wasted motion". It's just somehow super relaxed, yet crisp at the same time, as contradictary as that seems.

Sorry, I can't help myself. I'm a goofy bastidge. Youse ladies are so finely tuned to one another. Such a gestalt. I have tried very hard with others to achieve such harmony. Not just talkin' about vocals. Youse guys are fluid. Your work together shines on through your product like diamonds. I buy it. I buy it because this is genuine. And, I buy it because you two have sold out. You are all in. Every time you open your mouth. Every time Reina strums or Toni picks you're swinging for the fence.

These two have simply captivated me. Toni is a virtuoso on every instrument known to man... err woman. And Ms Cordova is a straight up pure vocalist in a sea of fake boobed blondes with auto tune. Amazingly amazing! My only sadness is I missed the first 8 years.
